I have used this company twice before. I wanted to use them for my current move. The phone number on the website, which is the one I had stored in my phone is no longer active. I found another number, and left 3 messages. Eventually someone called my back saying the message had gone to his cell phone and he wasn't in the office. He said he would text me to get more info when he was. That was on Friday July 3rd. By the following Wednesday I had still heard nothing, so I called the number that he had called back on. Charles moving Co. Moved me on July 1st. They gave me a quote for minimum 4 hours even though I had little to move. 1 bed, 1 dresser, 2 nightstands, 2 small night stands, 2 small shelves, 1 larger shelf and 2 chairs. 36 boxes that I could lift myself but since I had to pay the 4 hour minimum I let them take care of it. And 7 bins also I could lift myself. BTW I am an older woman with a bad back. No problem I'll pay the 4 hours. They did show up on time. My belongings were moved without a problem. Before they even started, Godwin the lead mover informed me that he would collect the cash for the move plus the tip and he would give it to the guys in the truck. I found this shocking. I also work for Tips. They are not expected and certainly not asked for. I also don't know if the other movers received any of it. As they carried things into the new apartment they took a 5 minute break between every trip just chatting. Still finished in under 4 hours. Shortly before they finished Godwin informed me, because they had to walked approximately 100 ft from the truck to my apartment it would be an extra $290!!!! They didn't actually "carry" anything they were prepared with everything on wheels of some sort. Then to top it off as I paid Godwin had my sign the receipt and write a review as he stared me down. AMAZING! Charles moving did a job for me a couple of months ago and I can't say enough about the company. From start to finish the entire transaction was smooth. Super professional movers, on time, great prices, and you get a personal connection with the company. They don't treat you like you're anybody else! Godwin, the estimator who came to our home was super pleasant and made us feel super secure with our furniture in his company's hands! We had a 4 bedroom move and they made the entire process feel like a breeze. If I ever move again this company will be at the top of my list. The men who came to our house to move us were polite, professional, uniformed employees who arrived exactly on time. They treated our possessions as if they were their own - with respect and total care. We got Charles Moving and Storage to help move my daughter's things from her apt last month. They were right on time, they were all very pleasant and polite, they took great care of her furniture and belongings, they carefully wrapped all of her furniture to protect it and they stayed until the job was finished, even though it took longer than they anticipated and they had to stay into the night. I would highly recommend them. They are honest and hard working. Warning. NEVER get a moving estimate over the phone. If the moving company won't come to your house, don't even consider them. My client hired Charles moving company. (Fortunately, not on my recommendation.) She got the quote over the phone. When they arrived at her home, they told her that they couldn't move the piano. Now she has to scramble to find another mover. The move took so long because they moved so slow. In state moves are paid but the hour. They were sure to tell her that if it was more than 8 hours they would be paid overtime. Funny how the entire move took 10 hours. I should have taken 6-7, based on my experience with other movers and the amount of stuff she was moving. Buyer beware. read more

I have moved several times in the past and used different moving companies for packing as well as the actual move. Last June we hired Charles Moving to pack and move us. The end result was a disaster! I have never had such a bad experience. The list of things that were broken is way too long to list here. The furniture that has scratches, my daughters bedroom set every single handle on her dresser wasn't broken but smashed and the result was scratches all over the front of her dresser. They took no care in packing. I had several expensive pieces broken, like my china, stemware and a depression glass bowl. The list goes on and on. The crew that Godwin sent...well only half of them spoke english so I don't have to tell you how that went. Like I said I have never had a problem with other companies in the past and they cost me alot less. The actual move ended up costing DOUBLE the estimate. I am serioulsy thinking about taking them to court. But that's my problem. Just stay away from them. read more
