EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, all the property managers has been amazing people (Audrey, Tierney, Jim and some others) I had a minor incident with a woman that was being trained as a new property manager, but Heather, the general manager, took control of the situation in a highly professional way. Premises are always clean and well maintained, issues with the gate and elevators are always addressed within hours. PEOPLE is the unpleasant experience at this place, it is common to see trash left by people around the main entrance, damages, and even big drops of paint. Too bad. I wish the price paid for the units would stay the same at least for a full year, but rent increases happen every 6 months. No matter what, I find this location very convenient, being a mile distance from home. read more

Update* It continues to sadden me to report no response from corporate customer care on the broken air conditioner and humidity matter in my unit on the 3rd floor. I removed 7 full moisture absorbers from my unit today and added in 5 big tubs and 15 smaller in tub moisture absorbers. I'm paying for climate controlled and having to spend an additional $200 on moisture absorbers which I shouldn't have to given I'm paying for a climate controlled unit. There definitely seems to be lack of proper property management and corporate leadership at this facility. They seem to be unwilling to replace the air conditioners after 6 months of dealing with this problems that I only was made aware of by my own doing the end of September. I'm trying to resolve this matter to no avail. I'm giving management and leadership 48 hours to contact me to resolve this or I'm going to the investigator News reporter because you are defrauding customers not suppling the services I'm paying for. read more

My complaint is not with the cleanliness and Jim was very helpful and nice, but since he has no control over the rates going UP, expect 30% increases. Ours INCREASED $118.00 EVERY 6 months. They get you in with low rates, but watch out, their 6 month increases are UNFAIR and UNREASONABLE. Stay far away from Public Storage. read more

I was fortunate enough to find all of those qualities with Manager Mike at Public Storage in Morris Plains on RT 10W. My Mom had passed and I had to empty her apartment quickly. Mike the manager was very courteous and extremely helpful. He went out of his way to extend my reservation at discounted rate by 1 week to allow for my situation to unfold. The checkin process was very smooth and hassle free. If there is 1 feedback I'll give to public storage is to stop up-selling the $20 lock and inform tenants that they need their own locks and if they don't have one they can buy from the storage manager. read more

After five months raised my rental rate unilaterally from$287/month to $401/month, a 40% increase. Have been unresponsive to my efforts to remediate. DO NOT do business with this company. DO NOT RENT A STORAGE UNIT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE! THEY ADVERTISE CHEAP RATES BUT IT'S NOT FOR LONG! Total rip offs! Our unit rental in Morris Plains, NJ was RAISED by a total of $118.36 A MONTH! They will not hesitate to do it again in 6 months. As of Jan. 20, 2023, they offer the EXACT size storage units as ours for $196.00-$216.00 LESS PER MONTH than we are paying (that's without about another $20. In taxes added). We are paying DOUBLE that amount each month. They suggested that we move our belongings to another unit, the exact same size, also on the same floor, so we can get the cheaper rate. Now they want us to pay for movers because they know we are SENIOR CITIZENS and cannot move on our own. We understand that rental fees rise, but PUBLIC STORAGE's increases are UNFAIR and UNREASONABLE. We regret not listening to our friends' advice as to which storage unit facility to use....so PLEASE LISTEN TO us...DO NOT use PUBLIC STORAGE! read more

DECEPTIVE PRICING!! While I found the unit clean and well-maintained, I take issue with the random 25% price increase I was charged after one year. I called customer service for an explanation and they were rude and could not justify it. The agent hung up in the middle of the call . I will be looking elsewhere. read more

Awful company. I rented a 5 x 10 unit for $71 a month. After renting for 6 months they decided to increase my rate to $87 a month even though they were not providing me with any other services or enlarging my unit. After asking if anything could be done about the 22% price increase I was told no and they were free to charge whatever they wanted after 6 months. I started looking for a new storage unit to rent and noticed that there were 5 x 10 units still available here for $76 a month! I find it ridiculous that a loyal paying customer is treated so disrespectfully and outright taken advantage of. Avoid this place if you are in need of a storage unit. Their business practices are shady and akin to extortion. read more

I was expecting for someone to just say ok your unit is #.. And the gates open X hours. He went above and beyond cared about the interaction. Not sure why YELP will only publish 2 reviews and moves all the rest to "unhelpful". Interesting....Maybe Public Storage pays them an advertising fee? Raised my rate by 20% about 1/2 through the first year. Apparently this is common, and frequent rate increases are coming. A few months later unilaterally changed the wording of our contract to remove any responsibility for loss due the company's fraud, willful acts, basically for any reason. Employee at the site was very nice, but that doesn't make up for being absolutely hosed by the corporate home office. Not an honest business. Find a smaller company that will allow you to lock in for a year. Month to month is a recipe for price gouging because they know they have a captive audience with stored furniture. Imagine renting an apartment with a month to month lease, and then having your rent raised every few months. How easy will it be to move out right away? Same deal here. read more

This place is overpriced and does not provide its customers with even the most basic things to facilitate moving items in and out. I've waited over 30 minutes for a handcart because the place only has three available when there are generally between 4-7 people moving around at any given time on the weekend. For the money I pay, they could at least get two or three more. read more

My first time storage experience was pleasant and easy. Dawn asked questions regarding what I wanted to store and helped me to choose a space which would be most appropriate for my needs. While showing me the facility, she explained the sizing of the units and how to access my space. She also explained about the entry gates, the doors/locks on the unit and the hours for access. Dawn was very personable and knowledgeable. She told me to call if I had any other questions or problems. I'm still trying to think of something to ask....... .I purposely waited until I had visited my unit before posting any feedback, just in case. Mike was extremely helpful in reviewing the agreement with me and facilitating my storage unit. Samantha on my initial contact with this location was also very helpful and friendly. I'm hoping to have a lasting relationship with Public Storage...the only thing that would jeopardize that is a rate increase after I am a customer for a few months...we'll see. read more

Do not put your goods in storage here. Whatever agreement and price you sign coming in is part of a bait and switch. My monthly rate was raised SIGNIFICANTLY after 5 months. Shortly thereafter, I get an amended agreement with new language in which the company relieves itself completely of all liability for damages to me or my property even due to the owner's negligence. The language in the original agreement holds them responsible for acts of fraud or willful injury. The language is now stricken from the agreement, which of course, we would never have signed if it had been like that at the outset. These people are absolute crooks. Do not reward them with your business. read more

This place is horrible. I went there on a Sunday during business hours and I banged on the door several times with no answer. Then I called the phone number with again, no answer. I left and then came back 1/2 hour later and a sign was on the door saying that they would be back in a 1/2 hour. Then I went back a 3rd time and was again banging on the door to get THEIR business. I was ready to leave and then I see an employee picking up garbage in the front yard. They have a completely ridiculous set-up. The person could be anywhere on the grounds when you arrive so you are unable to get a hold of them. I don't understand why they can't forward their land-line to a cell phone. I wasted over an hour trying to rent a unit. Then once we vacated our unit, the woman said that we would loss a months rent since we moved out at the beginning of the month. After calling the main number I was quick to get a refund for the days that we were not using the unit. The woman at the store said that was absolutely not an option and we had to eat the difference. The employees here are unaware of the policies and unreachable. I would never go here again, regardless of how convient it may be. read more
