The MOST UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE CALL, EVER! A twenty-something, long dark-haired guy showed up (no name, as he wouldn't give it to me). He came in, asked me where the ant problem was. I showed him the trail, collection and path. I told him that I was recovering from pneumonia and didn't have much voice left, so to "bear with me." He walked away and told me that he disagrees with me. I questioned, "what do you mean? Why would you be contrary, while I'm telling you our issue-the townhouse neighbor and us, have been passing the ants, back and forth, for 7 years. He told me I was wrong, and they all just hatched. I responded that we had treated our home for ants FOUR times, in the last 6 months. When showing him the area where we saw an ant hill, he was belligerent and condescending, asking me, "is it an ant hill or just a few ants?" I told him I was from the country and knew what an ant hill and ants looked like. This is where it went terribly disrespectful, condescending and offensive. He asked me, "so what kind of ants are these?" I responded, "beg your pardon? They are obviously sugar ants. Why am I being asked that?" He then smirked and said, "how do you know they are sugar ants? How can you tell?" I told him that I didn't appreciate being called a liar, with regard to our issue and tested, as to my knowledge of ants. He responded, "well, you're the expert!" I could not believe what I was hearing! Who was this person, to come into my home and disrespect me, in such a manner? I wonder if his behavior would have been the same, if it were my husband, he was dealing with. Every time I attempted to speak and explain our insect issue, he would interrupt me, with a rude and contrary statement. He pulled out our kitchen counter items, spotting a busy ant area. He began to spritz the area. I explained that the connected unit would get ants in their kitchen and within hours, I had them in my kitchen and back and forth we went. He dismissively questioned my honesty in stating that he questioned that happening. Again, I was so offended, I wanted to cry. On top of being sick, I had this guy insulting me, in my home! I told him there were also ants in the living and offered to show him where they were, he said, "nope, don't need to see it." What? I said to him, I'm not sure what's going on here, but I don't appreciate your continued insulting and interruption, when I am sick and trying to get this problem rectified. He, again, insulted me in saying, "well, I know I was out here a few times, and you wouldn't let us in your place." I responded, "I have never met you, nor have I ever requested pest services and denied entry. You are literally making that up and you know it." He smirked and said argumentatively, "well, I'm sure it was you." I told him, "I don't appreciate you making up stories, in order to somehow justify that this ant problem has not been rectified. It's completely inappropriate and unprofessional." He again smirked. At this point, I told him, "Please just get this handled. I'm very sick and need to lie down." The most shocking and unprofessional behavior yet? Here it comes...he picked up his bag, walked to the front door and said, "I'm leaving. Your grouchy and rude and let me know when you're in a better mood and I may come back. Good God, I felt like I was in the twilight zone. I said to him, "this is ridiculous. You don't get to tear my kitchen apart and then leave, without doing the job? No one is giving you a hard time. What is the matter with you?" He walked out the door. I asked after him, "can you at least leave the ant traps?" He did not even both to turn around and said, "Nope! I didn't even bring em'." Wow! He sat out in his truck, for 25 minutes, before pulling off. I am contacting the BBB, the complex management, where we live, and the company owner. The behavior of this pest control representative, made this 59 year old, sick woman, feel disrespected, insulted, discriminated against and verbally abused. This type of behavior, especially inside someone's home, where you are a guest, cannot happen. I'm not generally intimidated, but felt very unsafe, with this pest guy. It is now the middle of the night, and, with pneumonia, I had to clean up the ants and disinfect the area, that he left unattended, and still have ants, all over my kitchen. Had a great experience today with Shamika and our technician today. Submitted a request online at 7am or so got a call back around 8am, and had a technician at our house at Noon for the appointment. Planned on using one offer, but Shamika outlined multiple other offers (and wasn't pushy like other businesses) that may fit what we were looking for. Turns out it was. Inside outside treatment with follow up for 179 plus tax. Great value considering other prices in the area. Jumped at the offer and was able to have someone out within four hours? Amazing. First application of ant killer looks good, fingers crossed it works, and looking forward to the follow up. read more

UPDATE: The office contacted me after I complained, said they'd knock the charge down to their 90$ diagnosis/inspection rate, which I appreciated, and then wanted to ask if I'd schedule a follow up to do the work. Given that the work + diagnosis would probably end up more expensive, and their contractor had essentially said it's just some mesh from home depot and not a big deal (but didn't bother to do it XD ), I decided not to move forward. They said they'd cancel the charge, which I really appreciate. So it's 3 stars now because they have good customer service and follow up, but it still felt like a waste of everybody's time. Had a tenant report rats in the space between the ceiling of the basement and the floor of the main floor. The technician came by, didn't have the door answered fast enough and left. They claimed they waited 45 minutes, but this didn't seem to be the case according to the tenants. They claimed they called me--I didn't have any missed calls on my phone, and I was able to later receive a call from the technician, so I'm not sure what happened there. I managed to call the dispatcher and get the technician to come back. They looked around and told my tenant that there was an opening over the garage (easily observed from the outside of the house just by walking around) and therefore they couldn't lay any traps or bait because the squirrels or other animals would get it. After talking with the guy on the phone, he said there'd be an additional charge to go get materials and close off the space (this is just a roll of wire mesh to close off some gaps under eaves). 390$!!! For *NOTHING*. No traps. No bait. No blocking off entrances that animals might be using. The note on the invoice said 'no rats observed'. Sure. It's all our imagination. The premium service is to come to your house, see an obvious place a rodent could be getting in, tell you about it, and then tell you to schedule a follow up with an additional charge. I'm on bed rest and have a service animal, I just had a blood transfusion and was in the hospital for a month previous. I got home and received a notice about this company coming through. I expressed this to property management three times when I got the "stop bugging me notice" that they would be here today. I was released from the hospital today before the inspection and told her I'm on bed rest I'm not to be up and that my service animal is to be next to me at all time. I was made to sit on the toilet because the pest dog couldn't "perform his duties" as an "investigator" should My service animal be in the vicinity, my life is more important than your damn bs bug service. The more I think about how I was treated by management and by the service is disgusting. Regardless what property I am my pet is not a pet he is a service animal to be at my side at all times. My service animal doesn't get locked up and there are not to be other dogs in my home. I expressed that to management Greystar, this company and also sent it to stephen Rudolph at the city and the BBB. I'm a terminal patient. OH and the sniffer dog did the worst job ever because two weeks later we had in the apartment a few doors down that flooded (that the sniffer dog went through) and we all ended up with roaches. The idea of having pests in your home is extremely stress-inducing. The mention of rat droppings immediately had me rushing for pest control recommendations. With much haste I called Stop Bugging Me Pest Control after reading several positive reviews from neighbors. Unfortunately the service I received fell short of my expectations. On Day 1 of initial inspection and on laying down traps the technician was very reassuring that traps have been set and that, in fact, we didn't need to worry much since the droppings were "old". He indicated that he didn't see any problem entry points and that the evidence was old and probably not a sign of current rodent activity. Reassured but looking to get the crawlspace cleaned I had two different cleaning groups take a look. Both teams mentioned that there was still a problem. I was even told that the traps were misplaced and that there is really no such thing as "old evidence" since it's really difficult to determine whether droppings are years, months, or just days old. Sure enough, when I had the crawlspace cleaned the team did find rats in the crawlspace and an entry point that Stop Bugging Me completely missed. Stop Bugging Me was a complete waste of money. Lesson learned is that no matter how disgusting pests can be, take your time to select your pest control company wisely. read more

My sewer line was filled with gravel by this company, the technician said "I thought it was an abandoned sewer, I am not a plumber" So I asked why he didn't bring up that he suspected a sewer may have been broken, (right where he was digging, see the photo) So it is clear he saw a damaged sewer and decided to DUMP GRAVEL in it. Total rip-off. Bought a new house, and called Stop Bugging Me Pest Control to set up quarterly service. The company quoted me a fee for the service, based on a contract. When Darryl (The technician) came out for the service, I also mentioned several times about the quarterly service. I received the invoice, it was for much more than quoted. I called, and asked about it, and they claimed that since I didn't sign the contract, I was billed more. I asked how could I have made it more clear that I was signing up for quarterly service? Terrible. Absolutely the worst. We have been plagued by rats for nearly two years since buying our new home. Rodents in the walls every day is a very traumatizing thing to hear. We reached out and got an appointment for Stop Bugging Me to come out and find the source of where the rats are coming in from and prevent them from getting into the home. I had been catching rats on my own already and wanted someone with some professional experience to come in and identify the source of the problem. Things started out ok. Their initial visit was about $250 with a discount which seemed reasonable at the time to identify and seal up the entry points into the home. The technician came on time and inspected the entry points into the home. He identified one hole, filled it with steel mesh and caulking, and set a few rat traps into the crawl space (less than $20 materials from home depot). I expressed my concern that I do not think that is going to solve the problem as I think there is another source of entry into the home. The spot that was sealed was outside where the foundation meets a step and not necessarily would give the rats entry into the walls and crawlspace since there was no actual opening into the wall itself. The technician said I could call back if I still heard rats and they would come back out and reinspect it, and that I should wait a few weeks or months for any rats trapped in the home to die off. This was back in Oct 2017. A standard follow-up visit was performed one month later. He did check the perimeter and set more traps but did not actually look for any different places that rats might be coming in, just that the steel mesh was still caulked into place. I expressed concern a second time that I have still been hearing rats in the walls, and that I caught several more in the one month since the service had been initially performed and that I do not believe they have actually solved the issue. I pointed at rat droppings, torn insulation, chewed up plastic, and he dismissed these and said there was no evidence of new rats. Again the technician told me to wait more time for any trapped rats to die away in the walls if there were any. He said if I was still having issues that I could call back and they would come fix the problem. Well, I continued to hear rats in the walls for many months afterward. I caught and disposed of about 40 rats, maybe 2-8 a month (less in the summer months and more so in the winter months). I contacted them twice a little over a year later and expressed my frustration that my initial service was not performed adequately and I would like them to come and actually solve the issue. They told me it had been too long and that I would need to pay nearly $400 for a one time visit to do another visit (nearly 60% more than I paid before), and kept promoting a maintenance plan for them to come out and deal with the problem on a regular basis. I expressed my displeasure with the situation and confusion at the enormous price increase. They said they would follow up with me but never did. I ended up contacting another company on yelp that is actually highly rated. The other company came out in less than 1 day's notice, charged me $85, and identified the problem as sewer rats most likely getting in through a broken or disconnected buried sewer line that used to be connected to a downspout in our home. They precisely identified the exact location of the broken line underground. This was in line with the sewer maps they pulled up and brought and also in line with our knowledge of another broken sewer line from when we bought the home. Sewer rats apparently love old concrete sewer pipes. Now we have a plan of action to permanently rid the home of rats! Stop Bugging Me did not do any research into our homes sewer system, provided a cheap patch job solution to catch rats, did not respond well or offer any solutions when I reached out with my concerns, massively overcharged for the service they did/offered to provide (setting a few rat traps and patching a hole should not cost $400), and didn't actually try to look for or solve the source of our rat problem as we requested. We felt like they just wanted us to keep on catching rats so they could put us on their maintenance plan and just charge us for nothing. Avoid a headache. Just use a different company. read more

These guys were OK for the first couple years (I had them stop by quarterly for ants, spiders, and rats). Then about 6 months ago something happened, and they are TERRIBLE now. DO NOT USE THEM! They now sometimes leave notes on the door, instead of knocking, claiming that they sprayed - with no evidence that they actually sprayed. (I was home the entire time they were supposedly there, and they never came inside to spray for spiders like they were contractually obligated to do, even after repeated calls to the office demanding that they knock and come inside). This happened multiple times over 6 months. They have also mis-billed me, and calls to their office result in getting dumped to voice mail and never getting called back. When you complain, the office help give you major attitude and blows you off. There are plenty of competitors that do the same thing. Go to them. read more

I selected Stop Bugging Me to treat our newly purchased home after reading prior reviews on Yelp. (The reviews were entirely accurate.) I called up and spoke with Jean about the sort of treatments they offered and how safe they would be for our small dog. She explained everything in perfect detail, answering questions about the interior and exterior treatments, when we could reenter the home, and their recommendations on pet exposure. I was sold. The appointment was made. I was even given the name of the person (Kevin) that would perform the treatment. On the day of the treatment, Kevin showed up exactly on time. He was very personable. (It's such a breath of fresh air to deal with a real and competent person.) The treatment, itself, has been extremely effective. No creepy crawlies moving around the house -- just their dead bodies. My wife had been getting some bug bites so we decided to try out this apparently local outfit for our pest control issue. They collected our credit card first, and then proceeded with the appointment. We had a Yellowjacket problem that we needed help with as well. The person who arrived at the house couldn't find any active nests, and instead decided to go after two old tops of nests that we knew weren't active and then swatted and effectively killed one Yellowjacket before declaring the job done. He inspected our living quarters and also found no pests. The charge for the Yellowjacket part was around $175 and the "inspection" was another $50. Tax, etc the total was around $260 for a solitary Yellowjacket killed, with no new information or preventative pest control done. The crappy part was they already took our credit card info so they went ahead and charged the full amount and now aren't returning my call of a 4 days ago to discuss the issue. I'd love to give these guys the benefit of the doubt but this was a exceedingly poor value and left my wife feeling taken advantage of. Steer clear and caviat emptor with these guys. read more

I will be honest, the service was fine. It's just that my realtor asked to have something done and these guys charged my debit card for the service when my realtor told them that he would pay for it. I just happened to check my bank account one day and $107.51 was missing. They didn't even call me to tell me first. I'm pissed!!!! Make sure if you have them do any work for you that all parties know who is paying for what. I'M STILL WAITING TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR MISTAKE!!! UPDATE: Well, my account has been reimbursed and they apologized for the error in not calling me first. I appreciate the effort and fully understand that this is a business and you have to be profitable. However, it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I respect a company that cares about their public persona. Oh, and they are sending a $50 gift card to cover the $38.00 insufficient funds notice I got from my bank. I've had Stop Bugging Me come out to my apartment 5 times to treat clothes moths. The first time was great - the tech did a thorough search of the house, cleaned out a nest, and generally took the issue seriously. When more moths surfaced, I had them out again, but this tech had no idea we were previous customers dealing with an ongoing issue. He did a different treatment than the last guy had done. When moths continued to appear, I had them back 2 more times. Both times the techs had no idea this was an ongoing issue and insisted on giving me traps like I had already bought on Amazon, instead of treating the apartment. The final tech straight up did not believe that the issue was what I was describing because he hadn't seen a moth with his own eyes. Never mind I've been trying to deal with this issue for over a year with no luck! He wanted to do ZERO treatment other than leaving us yet more traps and still have us pay the full treatment price. If not for my partner also backing me up and insisting he spray for moths, he wouldn't have done a damn thing. Finally he agreed to spray...and it's 2 months later and moths are hatching again from somewhere. read more

I manage an apartment complex of 163 units and we have been using Stop Bugging Me pest control for a couple years now. At first the service was great, we like Jason, we loved our tech Mike. However, unfortunately we received a new tech for some reason a while back and we are so disappointed with the service lately.
