However this is the second time that they forgot to put the garbanzo beans in my salad, the server Ozzie was cold on the phone and accidentally dropped the call, and the overall moral of the staff seemed low. Really good food, very well priced, but I had bad service. You order at the front and seat yourself so I shouldn't expect much for table service, but it took about 30 minutes for them to bring my entree, and then I still had wait another 15 minutes after that to receive my glass of wine. It's a shame to have such wonderful dishes but such casual seating and service. Would you go to McDonalds for a filet mignon? Similar concept. Would love to see the restaurant switch to table service rather than waiting in line and ordering at the front. read more

Great place to go with the family and friends . I just had dinner today and all the food was delicious. Tri-tip was on point. Chicken was cooked perfectly, the only thing that I didn't like was the mashed potatoes. The flavor was okay , but it seemed like that served some on a plate and threw it in the microwave. I don't mind waiting at home as long as it takes. In the restaurant, not at all. Waited in line then gave the young lady my name. She walked behind the counter, came out the other end and started helping someone else. A young man then checked and came back and told me that it wasn't ready. No more tipping in advance for me. This all would have been forgiven had the food been better. The ribs were mediocre at best. We ate them hence 2 stars. They don't taste smoked at all and they are dry. The caesar salad was good. I came here for the first time and ordered the tri-tip meal. Was I disappointed. The meat was overdone and dry. All I could taste was the smoked flavor. I also had the cartwheel salad, which I don't recommend. My wife ordered the signature salad, also with tri-tip, and that didn't stand out either. As I chewed through my meal, I thought, "I'm not coming back." Then, as we walked out the door, my wife said to me, "I don't think I'll come back." Lol. Later I found out that the tri-tip was supposed to come with barbecue sauce. But my meal was so dry--it was missing the all-important sauce. Not even a bottle of sauce on the table. The only sauce you could find was the ketchup by the water fountain. Please send my regards to the chef. read more

The take out is great, my only problem, and it has been on going for years now, it's the fact that every time I dine in, we order/pay, asked to go ahead find a table/boot, but we always have to wait and asked them to clean the tables and the benches because after guests leave, they'll take the dirty dishes but leave the tables and benches dirty. But they do give generous portions and the service was amazing, the staff was really friendly. The bbq sauce was nothing special, but I did put a lot on my meat because of how dry it was... and I felt like the dish wasn't warm enough ... AND it felt like a fast-food restaurant to me since you order and pay right when you get in. First issue we had was with ordering our food. 3 different items we tried to order were not available. Really? On a Wednesday night during prime dinner hour? Then we got our food. The ribs were so fatty that we didn't even recognize them as ribs at first and they had absolutely no flavor. I couldn't even finish half of my half rack. The beans were more like chili than baked beans. About the only thing I can say was alright was our mashed potatoes and we truly enjoyed our breadsticks. I feel that the food was incredibly over priced for the quality. We could have gotten better food at Outback for the same price. I don't think we will be back. Worked for stonefire when I was in high school and I loved it. Trent (general manager of pasadena) and Chandler (fountain valley) were two of the best people to work for, and the tri-tip is some of the best out there. This is my favorite "I can't stand to cook tonight" take out place, but this review is for their catering. We used them for a small at home wedding. It was easy to order at the 800 number. I called to change the sauces on the meat easy enough. They confirmed two days ahead of time and answered my sister-in-law's glutten questions carefully. The food arrived on time and the young man was very helpful setting up. Things to note: *When ordering you might note that they provide TONS of food. We had leftovers for days. We could have ordered 40 servings for 45 to 50 people. Maybe our people don't eat much, but service for 50 was two large pans of chicken, two large pans of tri-tip, and two large trays of salad. It was yummy, but a lot! *I like my red meat medium rare to medium. I should have ordered the meat medium rare, because it was sitting in a chaffing dish for four hours and did cook a little more there. If you are serving right away then I would get the meat the way you like it, but you might order it a little less cooked if it is sitting in warming trays for hours. I feel silly writing that as it seems obvious NOW and I should have thought if it. The food was great and people enjoyed it! read more

I was sorely disappointed after coming here for lunch. I think I was expect much more given the rave reviews this place has gotten. I got their tri-tip and also their chicken breast. Both entrys came out slightly cold and lacked serious flavor in both departments. The tri-tip was supposed to be cooked medium rare, but was some how too chewy and the chicken breast had a faint smell of blah. Bread sticks were overly seasoned and the mashed potatoes tasted like it came from instant mix. They are efficient, however, in how they handle their mass amounts of customers and have a wide range of seats. PA ring is good, but i don't think I'll be coming back. read more

A family style restaurant with enough varieties to choose from. A lot more salad varieties were added. Some of our favorites are the Kale and Quinoa salad. Pesto pasta is always my favorite. Although food is quite good here, the sitting environment is not as ideal. The inside tends to be a bit stuffy due to the kitchen smell and heat. The outside is equipped with the plastic shade and the stand alone heaters. Unless you are sitting in an ideal distance from those heaters, you can easily get too much or too little heat. I'm visiting Pasadena for business and decided to try Stonefire Grill because I was in the mood for ribs. I liked the place from the start. The building, smell of BBQ, the method of ordering my food were all great and different than what I'm used to in St. Louis, MO where I grew up and Dallas, TX where I live now. The restaurant was clean and they made it easy to get the things I needed for my meal thanks to their soda/utensil station. So, things are great up to this point. I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs and Caesar salad and a co worker ordered the tri-tips with a cauliflower salad. My salad arrived first with two breadsticks. I'm pretty sure there was Caesar dressing on the salad, but it was a feint taste. I don't like my salad swimming in dressing, but I do like taste what I ordered. So, I finished it off because I was starving and I didn't feel guilty because it couldn't have had much fat or calories in it. verdict.... I should have ordered more dressing, but I ate both breadsticks and they kind of made up for the salad. My ribs showed up right as I was finishing my Caesar flavored lettuce and they looked magnificent. A whole rack of ribs that had a beautiful orange tinted color and sheen. The color was a little different than what I'm used to, so I thinking that I'm going to get a new experience and then I took my first bite. So disappointing. I'm used to meat pulling from the bone easily and having clean bones when I'm done. Unfortunately, this was a new experience because I had to chew and tear the meat off the bone and the flavor that I was hoping for just wasn't there. Despite my disappointment, I ate almost half of the ribs until I just couldn't justify the effort and boxed up the rest for another co-worker who stayed back at the hotel I dropped them off and warned him that they were somewhere between bad and less than adequate. He texted me about 10 minutes later and said my assessment was spot on. My other co-worker gave her tri-tip a "pretty good" rating and gave me some to try. It was tasteless and wasn't tender and I turned down more when she offered it. I'm not a BBQ snob. I can't tell you what makes a rib great or how long to cook one, but I know one when I bite into it and I can tell you that these were not good. I may give them one more try because this was my first visit, but I don't think I will be able to bring myself to order the ribs or tri-tip. read more

First time visitor to Stonefire Grill. I have heard good things and I figured I would see for myself. It's close to the house and convenient. My pregnant wife and I and our 2 yr old son came here at 7pm on a Wednesday. We weren't exactly sure about the ordering and table/server situation but we figured it out quickly enough. I ordered ribs with a Caesar salad and the bread sticks. (2 bread sticks) my wife ordered chicken pesto sandwich and cauliflower salad. We also ordered an additional 4 bread sticks. My 2 yr old son had chicken strips and mashed potatoes. For starters, the bread sticks. neither my wife nor myself enjoyed them. 2yr old liked them dipped in BBQ sauce and dipped in ranch. My Caesar salad was arguably the WORST Caesar dressing I have ever had. It basically tasted like pureed garlic with some Worcestershire sauce and possibly some anchovies. The ribs tasted like they were boiled with liquid smoke. The 3 char marks on the top verified that they don't spend more than 30 seconds being grilled and basted with BBQ. there is no caramelization at all. My wife's Chicken pesto sandwich was beyond oily. Yes....I know it's pesto....pesto is made with oil.....I know.....but this was DRIPPING in oil. Imagine if you will, cubed chicken mixed with pesto and slopped onto a ciabatta roll. At first we weren't sure if there was any chicken on it.....expecting a pesto spread with a grilled sliced chicken breast......I mean we are at stonefire GRILL. The lettuce tomato and cheese were not able to absorb the oil once the bread was saturated. Her cauliflower salad wasn't that bad....but it WAS spicy. AND as most pregnant women will tell you....heartburn happens on its own. No need to entice it with spicy cauliflower salad. The chicken strips my son had looked hand breaded. They were still juicy. My 2yr old got the best meal. Since this was our first visit, I approached an employee with a request for a manager. I was quickly introduced to Josh (I think) Who seemed to genuinely care. He was empathetic and listened to my complaints. He promptly brought us a new menu and returned shortly after with a $20 gift card for future visit. As a manager, he did everything correctly. He personally brought us our new order. His positive attitude and great customer service can't make up for the fact that THIS PARTICULAR NIGHT.....THIS PARTICULAR LOCATION the food was deplorable, unexciting, inedible, and downright disappointing. even with that $20, I can't say I'll be back because this experience set us back $50....... read more

Tyler is the most helpful person I have encountered at StoneFire. He helped me order a complicated large order over the phone and then when we arrived, didn't mind splitting the order between 9 different people. He had the greatest attitude and really showed that the customer's desires come first (he even said that out loud to me). I have been going to this Pasadena location for years. In the past this review would be at least 4 stars, but I am disappointed to say that recently the quality has gone WAY down. I have tried most of the things on the menu, but my favorite has always been their BBQ beef sandwich. I'd say that the food was always a bit on the inconsistent side, but almost always good. These days though, I've had bad food more often than good. I've noticed this is especially true of their take-out. Of the past 5 take-out orders I've gotten at Stonefire, only one was decent. The rest ranged from bad to terrible. Twice the beef was tough and grissly, once it was cold and mostly fat, and one awful time it was basically raw (I actually don't mind medium-rare, but this was raw). For a place that has a dedicated take-out counter and entrance you'd expect them to to take it more seriously. I'm not sure what happened to Stonefire. I used to go at least once a week and thoroughly enjoy it every time. If you do decide to go here I'd say your best bet is to dine-in if possible. The food has a better chance of being on the good side, and if it isn't you still have an opportunity to complain if you want. read more

Our favorite place to eat whether its a big family gathering or just a bite for two. The salads are absolutely delicious, the pizza is awesome. The ribs and chicken melt in your mouth.
