As soon as we walked in the door, I recalled how rude the host had been on a prepandemic visit. The current host had us standing there for a few minutes (the restaurant was not busy), and when she stepped up to the desk didn't greet us. She looked at us like "what do you want?" When she seated us with no water or drink order, my companion--who is very easygoing--said, "well that was odd". The waiter was a vast improvement, friendly and attentive. The food was meh. Undercooked and bland. $120 for a shared salad, two entrees, and two watered down non-alcoholic drinks. I know working in the restaurant industry can suck. Been there. This place has the best pasta!! The lumache (with black peppercorns) is my favorite. The pasta is perfectly al dente and I've asked multiple friends to try this place out and they agree that it's delicious. It is very simple though - there's no meat or veggies. Consistent mixed bag for me. I've come here for HH, date night, dinner, and anything in between. The latest was brunch with a few girlfriends. Four of us came in and ordered the following: - Bloody Mary(s) - Cold Brew(s) - Charred Broccoli, and Dutch Fries to share - Smoked Salmon Toast - Steak & Sunny Eggs The food was so good! I was so impressed by the Smoked Salmon and felt awesome about my choice, since 2 others got it! It had such an aromatic and delicious flavor to it, and was filling from the avocado smash yet not heavy. Also, special shout out to their Bloody Mary. It was perfect - for me that means you can taste the alcohol and it has a heavier/more flavorful, spicy mix. The one thing this place consistently lacks is service. The last three times I've been in, I've had bad service from different people. This time, she seemed inconvenienced by absolutely anything we asked - including when she'd forget something we ordered. Finally, after being bookmarked for 2 years, we got here. Nice ambiance, even outdoors, and the hotel to which it's attached looks gorgeous, too. The mushrooms and scallops were both to die for, especially the scallops. We did family-style ordering and sharing. I didn't touch the chorizo pizza but everyone else did and said it was good, especially the crust. Our server was fantastic, too! Minus one star for the laughable portion of rigatoni for $28. Come. On. That was a side-portion or kids size at best. Had a decent overall experience at Stoneburner, it's nestled it a cute bustling little neighborhood within Ballard right near the water. I love that since Covid these restaurants have all included some outdoor covered seating, really adds extra personality to the restaurant itself and all the others on the street. We ordered several drinks all of which were good, just felt like you got hardly any drink for the price you were paying. The olive starter was delectable and the pizzas were delicious too! Our waitress was super sweet and attentive, and made our dinner extra special as it was for a bachelorette! The steak was perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned and expertly presented. The pork chop was juicy and tender. I loved that the garlic bred was a fresh baked, artisan bred. The streets of Ballard are littered with great bars and restaurants. And Stoneburner is no exception to that list. Great food, even better service, and great selection of drinks. My wife had a date night here and ordered: 1. Smoked Prosciutto Pizza 2. Octopus appetizer 3. Carbonara pasta The octopus was a great appetizer, and the flavors were so vibrant and tasty. The octopus itself was a bit too chewy for my preference, but that's a very small nit-picky detail in the grand scheme of things. On top of that, Stoneburner served the largest portions of octopus that my wife and I have ever received. Other restaurants usually offer just a tentacle or two, but the octopus here was massive. Highly recommend it as a starter! The pizzas are monstrous. And I'm not complaining at all! For the price, the pizza was enormous and definitely satiated my appetite. The toppings of the prosciutto pizza were savory and delicious. My only complaint was that the crust was a bit bland and could use some salt. But damn, solid pizza nonetheless. But what stole the night was the pasta for me. This place highlights the drinks and pizza, but that carbonara was mind-boggling good. The pasta was creamy, and the bacon/prosciutto bits add a great salty punch. When I go back, despite my love for pizza, I may have to succumb to and order that pasta dish, wow. Everything was great, and the vibe was awesome inside. On top of that, it's smack-dab in the middle of a bunch of other great restaurants, dessert places, and bars, so this is a solid starter for a delicious night. You guys... I think this was the best dining experience of my life so far. No exaggeration. The food? Obviously incredible...we started with cauliflower and burrata- incredible flavors that aligned with the fall season swimmingly. For mains, I chose the spicy poblano pizza and boy did I pick right! The crust was unbelievable. I tasted Mia's halibut...delectable. I also tasted Lainie's steak...insane. Oh and those Dutch fries wow!!! After dinner, we had both the tiramisu and pumpkin cake (if I close my eyes and think hard enough I can still taste the pumpkin cake and brown butter ice cream- I hope that never goes away). For wine we had a white and red from the cellar. What made this the best dining experience of my life, however, was the OUTSTANDING service. Our waitress (Kate) was a gem from the moment we sat down. She was incredibly helpful with our questions and spent time with us walking through what each menu item entailed. She also sent over the sommelier (Matthew) to help us pick out wines. Matthew was another highlight of the night- he was cognizant of our budgets, meals, and preferences, which led to him selecting a bottle of white, then red, that paired with the evening in a beautiful way (I could cry). I have been to Chef Jason's "Field of the Table" event in 2020 and i have always wanted to visit his restaurant. I was able to make a reservation last Sunday 3.14.2022. Restaurant was clean and interior was gorgeous. Parking was hard to find since Ballard Sunday market was going on and it took us 15-20minute to find a parking spot, but we ended up parking by the park on 85th then walked to the restaurant. We ordered: 1. BLISTERED BROCCOLI- miso tamari tahini / dulse 2. ROASTED MUSHROOMS- rice grit risotto / poached egg pimenton 3. STEAK & SUNNY EGGS- mojo picon / crispy potatoes 1. Server forgot to order this item, so we were unable to try. 2. They use Oyster Mushroom and this dish was delicious! Risotto was nicely cooked and I enjoyed this plate. I don't like poached-egg, so I asked to be scrumble egg (side dish for additional $4) 3. Steak was over cooked and it wasn't medium rare. We explored this Italian Mediterranean gem in the Ballard neighborhood. From the small plates, we indulged in the grilled artichoke and oyster mushrooms, which set the stage for what was to come. The star of the show was undoubtedly the pacherri pasta, its circular shape reminiscent of calamari. The crumbly chili pieces added a pleasant kick, although I personally could have used a bit more heat. Now, for the vegetable dishes, they were described as grilled or roasted, but in my opinion, they leaned more toward a charred flavor profile, which wasn't to my taste. However, my friend adored the charred bits, and I'm glad someone enjoyed them. For cocktails, I had the Cozumel cooler martini, which I loved! The icing on the cake was everything was reasonably priced. A unique dining experience with a few surprises, but overall, a great find in Seattle, made even better by the pleasant outdoor and indoor seating options. read more

I came here based on a recommendation, and I absolutely love the vibes and overall ambiance of this restaurant. It's pretty easy to book a reservation in advance and street parking is available. Luckily they were able to make a lot of their dinner items vegetarian, so we were in Italian paradise with the amount of pasta and pizza served. For the appetizers the garlic bread was accompanied with some excellent ricotta. The breadsticks we ordered came with cherries that were absolutely delicious. The pasta we asked for was a cacio e Pepe which was pretty good but the star was the vodka sauce pasta with corn. It felt light and summery but hearty at the same time. It also came with a poached egg on top, rather than a glob of cheese which was a healthier and definitely the preferred option. The pizza we ordered was also pretty good and had spicy peppers that elevated the pizza to another level. Accompanied with a virgin mojito (which they do by the way) this dinner was fantastic! read more

We happened upon Stoneburner after an afternoon self guided brewery tour and were hungry. The service was attentive, warm, and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. The pepperoni pizza was huge, nicely spiced with a crisp crust, and done to perfection (slight char marks). The eggplant and tomato sugo gnocchi was sublime but the portion size left us wanting more. Came in for dinner on Friday, and the place was pretty full. Waitress suggested dining family style but we each got our own meal. I would definitely recommend an additional side or something if you want a pasta and think it will fill you up. It probably won't, but the pastas are very good. Pizza choices are bountiful and the pizzas are great for sharing. Cocktail menu was expansive, and the bartenders can also go off menu with a little direction (spirit, flavor profile) etc. Fairly priced for what you get. I had walked by this place many times and thought this place looked so amazing but never made the time to try. When my cousin was visiting I last minute checked if any reservations were available here and thankfully they were! We were seated outside and even though it was a bc hilly evening there are heaters and the entire outdoor area was pretty cozy. Garlic bread- two large pieces of thick cut crunchy bread. The cheese was soft and creamy not very salty. Carrrots were tender on the inside and charred on the outside (which I loved) they were flavorful and smoky and the creamy avocado sauce was the perfect accompaniment! The fresh mint was super refreshing on it as well. Scallops- one of my favorite dishes in general and the sear on these was perfection. They were cooked exceptionally- I would definitely recommend! Rigatoni with ragu blanco- honestly one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. The pasta was perfectly Al dente and the sauce was light but well seasoned. I loved the flavorful pork shoulder and there was ample cheese. Everyone from the staff that we interacted with was so polite and friendly and gave excellent detail on the food! We've been twice it was so good the first time! Their indoor seating is covid safe since all the windows are wide open. I feel comfortable eating inside. I've hade the steak special the first time and the fish special the second time. Both were very flavorful and yummy. My husband got two different pasta dishes for our two visits. Heads up though, when I went, the paper menu vs online menu were a little different. Is it just me or does anyone else think of Snowpiercer when they see the name "Stoneburner?!" It's probably a sign I've been watching too much tv...anyway, I had been here once before but only on the other side of the beautiful bar. I almost didn't recognize the place when I arrived for our reservation. We got a nice table with a good breeze coming in from the doors at a private table in view of the chefs. I started out with the Jamaican Coffee and my friend had the restaurant's version of a Manhattan. We ordered the smoked tuna dip with sweet potato fries for an appetizer and wow! It was so good we didn't leave a crumb behind. Next we shared the Turkish Eggs on labneh with flatbread. If I knew how to make this dish it would be my special breakfast every day. It was so delicious! The chili oil was a nice touch on the perfectly prepared runny eggs and yogurty goodness that the eggs sat upon. I think the idea was that you are supposed to sop up the labneh at the end with the bread buy I was enjoying every bite of it, mixing it all together. For dessert I ordered the butter mochi because, well, it's my weakness. I loved that they put this on their menu and it was the right texture mixed with a yummy coconut ice cream and coconut flakes. Everything about it was perfect although they probably could have gone a smidge lighter on the ginger, as that overpowered the light delicate flavor of the butter mochi base. Our server was attentive and super helpful. We were there during the Farmers Market so parking was difficult to find nearby and there were lots of people trying to put their names down on the waitlist. Make a reservation ahead of time and enjoy all that they have to offer here! All in all an ideal brunch. Will come back to try out the dinner menu again sometime! read more

Visited on a Sunday morning for brunch as a family and was felt rebuffed. We have a kid and they had a kids menu which didn't have fries . When we asked for one without spices we were told off by an arrogant waiter. And lo behold to our surprise we got plain fried potatoes with the dishes which were served later immersed in the sauces. Well the shocking experience didn't end there. We had finished our first round of dishes and were waiting for the balance of our order when this impudent person comes and asks, 'Anything else'WHAT THE ...? When we remind he goes and and says yes it is coming. Another 30 minutes and we got the balance but not the quantity we ordered Luckily the kid's mom had packed his usual and we managed him till we stopped at a diner on the way back and picked his fries. Cutely the fellow asked "does the chef at stone burner doesn't know How to make fries?" Wish the management monitors and ensures their staff is well behaved. They may also introduce some fires with out spices to encourage family members who come there bring their children as well. After helping a friend shop for a wedding dress in the area, this was a good stop to have lunch. We split the pizza, it was a simple pepperoni pizza. It had a nice spicy kick and subtle heat. I thought it was cute the way they served the crushed chili peppers whole in the pepper, and you open it for the seeds! The Dutch fries are nice and hearty and the sauce, not sure what it is, was tangy and spicy. The food was good but nothing extraordinary. I really like my pomegranate soda. We got out here visiting some friends who are lucky enough to call a Ballard Marina their home. It is in a great location on the main restaurant row and we were even lucky enough to come on a Sunday and enjoy the Sunday market right after. This spot is in a renovated spot inside a hotel and it definitely delivers on the turn of the century feel. The food is good here with a great selection of breakfast and lunch options. The burger is good and the eggs with potatoes are good as well. The mimosas are good. Overall this is a great lunch spot with lots of fun folks hanging around enjoying life (once again!).
