Had a super awkward experience where one of our mains was 30 minutes late and the manager told us to "take a deep breath". When we asked to have our drinks and the entree comped, the manager said that "it seems like you are writing the script" and then never came back. Eventually they comped our drinks and the late main course but the whole situation was so awkward and the situation was as handled so poorly by the manager that we never want to go back. There was literally no apology for the situation! Our server did his best but the management was so atrocious that we literally can't imagine wanting to try the restaurant again. read more

Definitely make a reservation if you're coming on a Friday or weekend. I came with some friends and ordered a bunch of dishes to share. We started off with the crab dip, two pastas the rigatoni and the radiatori (braised short rib), a pie: Chanterelle mushroom and Yukon potato and then a white sauce was poured over it and lastly a rack of lamb ribs. My favorite dishes were the Radiatori which had unique pastas and fat Chun is of short rib that was super tender. The pizza was flavorful but you had to eat it quick or it would get soggy. The lamb ribs were perfect medium cooked. The only thing I could complain about was some of the service from our waitress. She had recommended the crab dip for the 5 of us, but you can see in the picture it only cam with two slices of bread. She could have asked if we wanted to order more. When we got the dip we were surprised to find out it had two pieces which she said "would you like to order more bread"? We ended up ordering more but had to wait and our crab dip was cold. read more

I think this may be the first time I've had pasta for brunch! I love poached eggs so when I saw that Stoneburner had one with pasta for brunch, I knew I wanted to try it. The current menu has spaghettini carbonara with poached egg for brunch, so I got that, and my boyfriend got biscuits and sausage gravy with soft scrambled egg. My pasta was the perfect portion, tasty, and of course, I loved the egg on top. For $15 though, it was a tad pricey for brunch, especially since it's mainly just noodles and a few small pieces of bacon. It was still good and satisfying though, so no regrets. I didn't try much of the biscuits and gravy, but I took a bite of the soft scrambled egg (it looked amazing!) and I liked it. Yum. Service was average - waitress did her job, but wasn't necessarily friendly. Oh well. Ambience - loved it! It's hard for me to describe it, but kind of reminds me of an old movie or something with the vintage dark wood, patterned tiled floors and how it's connected to a hotel too. Also, there's lots of natural light from the large windows. I know, bad description, but you'll know what I mean when you check it out! Anyway, cool place to eat. MMMM MMMM so good!! Overall I pleasantly surprised by this place but I think there are a few areas for improvement. The ambiance is phenomenal and this place was hopping. For starters the crispy castelvetrano olives were good but if you don't eat them pipping hot they loose their quality. The garlic ciabatta bread with ricotta cheese is nice but I wish they would give a bit more bread (only two slices). The cold cuts and cheese were just ok. The roasted beet salad was awesome!! Great portion size, plenty of whipped feta and they did not shy away from providing ample and perfectly cooked beets. The pistachio dukkah spice was so unique and just made the salad! The market catch of the night was scallops which were perfectly cooked. The grilled pork chop was also quite tasty. I'm not sure what the rub/spice on it was but it was very good and portions were large. Service was on point and I do love places that serve water without ice and leave the bottle on the table for you to refill for yourself :) Random I know but it's little things like that that keep me happy. read more

Food is ok but not great. Not a good service experience. Three of us came in for brunch. There were 7 tables available. Including two booths open by the window. We were told it was a 25 min wait. We sat at the bar. Every single group that came in was sat right away at the available tables. A booth by the window remained open the whole time we were there. Why? We're we not attractive enough to sit in the window? Why would they say there is a wait and sit people immediately right after us? I asked the hostess to sit us at a table if one became available. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle . I have been coming here since Stoneburner opened and love this place . Food and service always outstanding until last night. (Sun , Jan 22) My adult son and I came for dinner and sat at the bar . Food and service by the bartender and staff excellent, however we had to witness another employee completely blasting and yelling at the bartender . It was so bad , my son who was in the industry for 10 years asked the bartender if she was ok as she was holding back tears . This employee may have had a beef but it should not have been delivered on the floor . Ruined a very nice dinner. read more

Absolutely loved my first experience at Stoneburner! We went for a late dinner on Thursday night. We had to wait about 30 minutes, but it was definitely worth it. The restaurant's ambiance is nice and dimly lit at night. Our waitress was very friendly and provided excellent service. First we ordered from their cocktail list. I ordered the cocktail that had vodka with pineapple and lemon. It was smooth and sweet. The rest of the table had a whiskey drink that they enjoyed. Second, we ordered the butter lettuce salad, cooked carrots, and cooked asparagus. All of these were delicious. The cooked carrots were unlike any carrot I've had. They were grilled and seasoned. They came with a sauce that paired perfectly. I highly recommend these! Lastly, we ordered some pizza. We had the potato pizza and the fennel sausage one. The potato pizza comes with a creamy fondue to add on top and it was amazing! I really enjoyed this unique pizza. The fennel sausage pizza was also exceptional. It was more on the spicy side. Good quality food in a lively atmosphere. We went for a dinner date and the lighting was low and romantic, but the layout of the restaurant was very open (and a bit loud for my liking). There's not much privacy to the tables but it's fun to watch the bustling kitchen and all the yummy food go by. We started with several meat and cheese selections. They give you a piece of paper and pencil to check the boxes by your selections. I like this way of ordering a charcuterie board because it gives more insurance you'll love your choices! Accompaniments (mostly random pickled things) were not selectable. Our waitress was nice and attentive but seemed a little rushed. She was also knowledgeable about the menu and really helped with the meats/cheeses. We also ordered a bottle of wine and split a dish of carbonara. The wine was great, but in my opinion overpriced (bottle was half our bill), and my favorite part about the carbonara was how the yolk came in tact and ready to be broken. Not traditional at all, but still fun. The pasta noodles themselves were a little bland but the pancetta and pepper definitely helped. Overall, I did enjoy the food but think it was overpriced. The main point of loss stars for me was the setting- too dark and way too noisy (I much prefer a quieter spot to relax and actually enjoy my food). The first time I saw Stoneburner, we were on our way to a dinner reservation somewhere else. As we passed, I took in the opulent crown molding and tufted leather chairs and mid-century modern lights and wooden floor and was just like -- I need to be *there.* Fast forward eight months, and that's where I was. The pizza and cocktails are their clear winners; the mushroom pizza especially is perfection. We also tried the roasted chanterelles (crispy potato cake, we both found it very salty), and the pici noodle (a fat brothy noodle served with prosciutto, which I found odd and lacking in flavor). We also ordered a salad that never came. If we went again, we'd skip the rest of the menu and stick with the pizza and cocktails. read more

Was headed to the Ballard's Sunday market and wanted to drop into a restaurant for brunch. This place caught our eye as we walked by so we swung back around to grab a seat. Pretty hip joint in Hotel Ballard. Lots of breakfast pizzas and bloody Mary's on everyone's table. We opted for a seat by the window for some light worthy shots of food :) The menu wasn't extensive or mind blowing. The only thing that caught my eye was the huckleberry ricotta cake {bc huckleberry!!} & avocado toast which was the only breakfasty + eye catching item on the menu to have some sort of vegetable. I *NEVER* order avocado toast mind you bc a) it's expensive b) I can make a hell of an avo toast at home, but que sera sera bc lord help me I ordered it. For being my first ever ordered avocado toast for $16 - it was damn good! OMG I would have been upset if otherwise dropping that kind of cash on avocado toast lol The eggs were beautifully cooked, avocado mash perfectly seasoned slathered on a thick af crusty piece of artisan bread YASSSS. Mama was happy. Hubby was definitely feeling all kinds of FOMO w/ his not so great eggs in purgatory. The huckleberry ricotta cake was tasty, but insanely priced for a sliver at a whopping $7 for non organic ingredients *eye roll* lol I guess I forgot this was a hotel restaurant ugh. Happy hour happiness! It's rare that I find a happy hour that really blows me away. But Stoneburner is on to something. Start with their limited happy hour menu and let the delicious fun begin. First, the happy hour drink selection doesn't disappoint. Myself, my intern, and my marketing assistant opted to celebrate Wednesday with some rose and for $10, we got a carafe that kept all three of our glasses full. First win right there. The food menu is limited to pizzas and salads during happy hour. My two dining partners opted for a pizza to share, while I ordered the snap pea salad. Normally I'd have pizza envy, but holy crap was this salad delicious. There were no greens, just sliced up snap peas topped with crumbled marcona almonds, parsley, shaved parmesan, and dressed lightly with olive oil and lemon juice. It was satisfying, fresh, unique and delicious. Definitely get there to try this salad! The Margherita pizza was also delicious. I snagged one piece and the crust alone is worth coming for. It's perfectly charred and chewy, topped with some super-fresh tasting tomato sauce, and good quality cheese. The service was great. The food was delicious and the happy hour prices are right. Mediterranean leaning New American fare, inspired by Stone Hearth cooking. The spacious interior is decorated with antique furniture and fixtures that create a cozy, timeless ambiance. The menu features artisan pastas, wood fired pizzas, charcuterie plates, and salads, with a focus on seasonal ingredients. Fantastic wine, beer, and cocktail list as well. We came here with a large group of 8 on Memorial Day weekend and were able to be seated right away. The Fresh Mozzarella pizza was the star of my meal. Thick slices of the creamy cheese melt into the generous layer of intensely flavorful marinara, atop a perfectly crisp crust. Their use of "really good olive oil" was apparent. Another favorite was the Snap Peas, which were unexpectedly inventive. The pods are julienned and tossed in a tangy lemon oil, salty pecorino sardo, and toasted almond slivers. Do not skip this exquisitely balanced dish. The greens in the Little Gem Caesar were bursting with flavor, and I loved the hominy croutons, but the salad as a whole was over salted. My least favorite dish was the caramelized cauliflower Tortellini, which I found to be bland and lacking substance and inspiration. The Roasted Heirloom Carrots were also disappointing, with an overpowering aftertaste of canola oil that was difficult to ignore, despite the delicious cashew crema they were served atop. Went to Stoneburner for Valentine's Day with my partner and was extremely pleased with the experience. For our appetizer we had the mushrooms that came with a special purée which was to die for. For my entree I ordered the bolognese which had the perfect ratio of sauce to noodles and was extremely tasty. My partner had the steak which she thoroughly enjoyed as well. The dessert was good but I probably could've done without it as it wasn't really my style. One thing to note is they didn't have gluten free pasta due to Covid so make sure you call ahead to see if that has changed. read more

I recently got to visit the Stoneburner before a Yelp event, and I'm super glad that I got the chance! I have soooo many bookmarks that I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in here and saw that it was one of em. First off, this atmosphere of this place is great. It's super trendy and super "Seattle," which is to be expected in the middle of Ballard. It's a great place to go on a nice day, because they have a whole wall that opens up and brings in lots of light. We went during HH. The HH prices are a little steep, but still worth it because it's deeelicious. I ended up splitting the margherita pizza with my coworker, and it was great. If you're one of those who doesn't like thin pizza, you definitely won't like it. It's very thin, but it's great. Along with the pizza, we got rose! I mean, how are you gonna go to HH and not get a drink? For $10, you can get 3 glasses of wine. Uhhh. Sign me uppp. I don't come up to Ballard often, but if given the chance again, I'd definitely love to come by the Stoneburner and try more of their menu! read more

Our server was super nice, patient, and accommodating. Some of the food is much better than the others. Food ordered: - Chanterelle Yukon Potato Pizza: 5/5: Woodfired, thin crust pizza, topped with mandolined Yukon potatoes, whole mushrooms, and sliced onions. When served, the pizza is swirled with a white sauce - The dish of the night. We ordered 2 pizza for the whole table, but then ordered 2 more because we loved it that much. The mushrooms provide an unique and good, sour taste (think sour like that of an artichoke). - Parpadelle pasta: 2/5: pasta with peppers - Everyone that ordered this thought it was not worth the price and portion. We were disheartened that the pasta seemed to clump together after 5 minutes. Overall, there is also a lack flavor. The pasta just tasted like plain pasta with sweet peppers. - Meatballs: 3/5: meatballs with marinara sauce and cheese - These tasted good but pretty standard meatballs. Nothing super special. - Rigatoni: 5/5: I love tube pasta. Rigatoni is a staple pasta but if you do it right, it is heavenly. This dish has the perfect amount of red sauce and meat, so every bite you take has a little of everything. - Sticky Toffee Pudding: 3/5: The ginger ice cream paired with the toffee pudding, which is a cake texture, was an interesting experience. Their Sunday brunch was pretty busy, but were able to get us seated right away. We were back by the bar, so on a beautiful day it was a little dark, but it was a great space with high ceilings and the feel of an old Italian villa with a baroque design. The service was pretty good, came and checked on us as we sat down, told us about the specials and got our order in on that right away since there were only a few left, and came back to get the rest of our order a few minutes later. After that they weren't quite as quick to check in on us, but that's alright, we had our food and drink and were all set. My wife got the aforementioned special, a salmon cake (similar to a crab cake) stuffed with lots of salmon and a few other things, like potatoes. It was topped with a perfectly poached egg and a little lemon chutney that added a nice bright zest. It had a few sprigs of micro-green to give it a bitter contrast. Seems like a small micro green salad on the side would have been nice. So many Seattle restaurants seem to have forgotten that a meal out shouldn't be one thing on a plate, and Stoneburner isn't the exception. I got their biscuits and gravy, a real Italian version on this classic breakfast dish. The biscuits had just the right amount of crispiness on the outside and flaky butteriness on the inside. They make them with Parmesan cheese, so it gave it a distinct flavor, one that I liked. The biggest departure, though was their gravy. A very spicy sausage gravy that was more like a ragu. It was like Southern Italy, or maybe even a bit like New Orleans with the flavor profiles and worked very well. It was all topped off by an egg, that was slightly overcooked, but not so much so that I needed to send it back. It wasn't the prettiest dish on the plate, but it was sure tasty! I had their Edinburgh sour to drink. It went down pretty smooth and had just a kick of smokiness from the Scotch on the back end to remind you that there was some alcohol in there. If I didn't have anything else to do, I could have sat there and had a few of those without a second thought. While they didn't quite fire on all cylinders, Stoneburner was pretty good all-around. They have a lot of delicious things on their menu right now including the scallops, farro salad, hedgehog mushroom pizza, and the steak. I spent two days wondering whether I was going to get salmonella after dining at Stoneburner. We went to Stoneburner on Friday because we had heard great things about it. And for most of the night, the restaurant seemed to live up to its reputation--the vibe was there, with people having fun at a location that had plenty of character; the service was very good with a server who knew her stuff. The menu offered lots of possibilities for vegetarians, non-gluten diners and more. The first sign that something was amiss was the grilled octopus: the parts that weren't burnt were delicious--however, too much of the mollusk went beyond seared to just burnt, making some parts of it taste like charcoal. We let it go because the tentacles that were done correctly were delectable. But then, the entrees came. First, the good: the gluten-free orecchiette with lamb that my wife ordered was creamy, cooked to perfection with peas and tender morsels of lamb. While she was eating that, I was digging into my grilled, spiced chicken. After a few bites, I got the feeling that there was something weird about the texture of the protein. I cut a piece and took a look at it in the dim lighting. What I saw gave me the chills, so I had to ask my wife to confirm what I was seeing: RAW CHICKEN. When the server came by a few seconds later to check on our meal, I asked her whether the chicken looked raw. She took one look and, without hesitation, took the plate to the kitchen. She came back a few moments later and said the kitchen was going to redo my dish and asked whether I would like something to eat while my wife finished her pasta. I asked for the burrata with bread, which she served promptly. I wasn't sure about the meal anymore, but I figured I would enjoy what I could. The server was very apologetic, and I don't blame her one bit for the kitchen's mistake. However, and I might be a bit too sensitive about this, I thought the manager should have come over to apologize for this. After all, this wasn't simply a case of a steak not being done properly or some other transgression--raw chicken is on a different, dangerous level that deserves more than a free bread and burrata appetizer. The restaurant did not charge for the chicken dish, either. Luckily, I survived the weekend without getting sick, but I spent 48 hours wondering whether the illness would hit me (technically, salmonella can manifest itself up to 72 hours after ingesting raw chicken). I'm giving Stoneburner two stars because the service was very good, and I could have eaten two servings of the pasta with the lamb. I regret not ordering that dish from the beginning. At this point, I don't know whether I will go back. Maybe I could, as long as I stick to vegetarian dishes. read more

Duh / might've wanted to let us know that when we said we'd be sharing two entrees. And then the soda - it's $6 for a small thin glass filled with of ice cubes. Maybe got 5 sips from the straw. Went to the bar to get a refill and noticed she poured it from an open can ...and it wasn't the remaining portion. Oh, Stoneburner. How glad I am that my dinner buddy decided to choose New Year's Day for our date night, and that you were one of the only restaurants open. How glad I am that we stumbled into this restaurant and had an amazing time and one of the best dinners in a while. Stoneburner has the perfect atmosphere for an intimate date or a catch up with a few good friends. There is a humming din in the restaurant, just loud enough that no one else can hear what you're saying, but loud enough that you don't need to raise your voice to hear others at your table. It's dark enough to feel romantic, but not so dark that you get squinty trying to read the menu. The dinner menu is not the most extensive, but it's sure well curated and full of great options. We opted for the crispy olives stuffed with mozzarella and the roasted carrots to start. The olives were fun little bites, and are definitely olive-y and sour, just like I like them. The carrots were roasted into caramelized, tender, sweetness, with an amazing sauce contributing even more flavor. I went right home and tried to replicate them...no dice. But more reason for me to go back to Stoneburner! We also shared the rigatoni and the yukon gold/chanterelle pizza. The rigatoni was perfectly cooked and smothered in a rich, flavorful, and delightfully spicy ragu. Even more surprising was how amazing the pizza was. The combo of the thinly sliced potatoes, umami-ish chanterelles, and cheesy fonduta sauce made for a subtle but amazing and rich pizza. My dinner buddy and I just stared at each other in awe between bites. Service is notable as well. Everyone we interacted with was lovely and they definitely kept a close eye on us throughout the night. They must have noticed how much fun we were having on our date night, and our server was kind enough to bring out a couple of complimentary glasses of moscato at the end of our meal. I'm not sure if I managed to come on an off day but everything was just kind of okay. We got a pizza and it was so thin it felt like I was eating a chip w cheese on it. Like it felt like I had consumed 15 calories by the end of it. I like thin pizza but the one we got was so thin it was kind of sad for $22. Our good friends from Bothell brought us here tonight to one of their old haunts from when they lived in Ballard. This place was charming with beautiful decor and super friendly and helpful management, sommeliers, and wait staff. We all agreed to eat family style which is really one of the best ways to eat, even at super nice restaurants. We started with fried olives which are ridiculously good. I've never had anything like it...crunchy, warm, salty, briney, creamy, amazing. The beet salad was also mind-blowing. The potato and mushroom pizza was easily the best pizza I've ever had...such a great balance of bold flavors. The charcuterie board came next, and we just picked some random stuff since the menu was in Italian, but everything was so good, especially the prosciutto that was sliced fresh on the counter on their old fashion hand cranked deli slicer. They make an apricot moutarde that goes really well with the meats and cheeses. We ended with charred broccoli and spicy cauliflower. All the flavors were so unique and delicious. The plates were all beautiful and looked like they were from an Iron Chef competition. Adam B., the maitre d', was so gracious. We were recommended a beautiful bottle of Pinot Noir followed by an amazing bottle of locally vinted barbera that we loved. We don't live here but look forward to returning to Seattle so we can visit this restaurant again! read more

We first came here about a year ago and we were super surprised! When I think about a hotel restaurant I never really think it's all that good, but the Stoneburner was amazing! The wait staff is super nice and the food is amazing. They have good appetizers, drinks, desserts, and main course meals. The atmosphere is super cozy too. Overall really good food but a little slow! Not sure if it was because they were understaffed and busy, or just are slow but took quite a while to get our food. However, we didn't make a fuss about it and they were super kind and gave us their stuffed olives while we waited. All of the food was amazing! Kale salad was so good and the Calabrian sausage pizza too. read more

Our server was great! We tipped well for his great service but that's all that was positive about the meal. The Steak and eggs were anything but delicious. The meat was gray, chewy and unbelievably tuff. The pizza that was burnt on the sides and seriously burnt on the bottom read more

Let's start with the revolving menu ... it's always a surprise when I go in with guests as the menu changes like the seasons (bring back my green bean Caesar salad pls lol). Then there is the food which has been top notch. Add to that the amazing staff such as Cally (sp?) and Roshonda and you have a raving fan who comes in for the total experience. Stopped for a quick drink. Think their kitchen was already closed which is unfortunate because would have loved some of their apps. Got the Strummer punch and it was lovely, exactly the type of punch I like. Got to try a bit of the daisy drink and it was very bourbon heavy but lovely flavor mixes.
