On a limited timeline and here in Appleton for the comedy show, we needed a great burger to give us the energy to laugh for an hour or two. Well, this was the place to find such sustenance. Great burgers! I thought mine was delicious and the side of broccoli was a different, but great change up from fries. The cheese curds were incredible. I've never had square curds before but I loved em. And the sauces to dip them were great. I only give it a 4/5 because I'd want to try more and not give it a 5/5 because I haven't compared to anywhere else in Appleton. I've been here about two times since my last review and the food and drinks and has really improved. The last two times I was here they had a nice hard cider selection. Service has ALWAYS been good. I know I'm going to have a personable and organized experience here. I really enjoy the German inspired dishes. The schnitzel and spaetzel is legit. I have had their beer before but never visited until recently. We went during a slower time on purpose as our daughter in adverse to loud places. The staff here was really accommodating and the space is pretty cool. The food and beer here are pretty solid. I wouldn't say it's some place I would go out of my way for, but if we are in the area or passing through we would most likely make another stop here. read more

So I normally love this bar. I love the ambiance of it. I love the small menu and things on it you normally don't see. I am not a beer drinker but remember back in high school coming to the Mexican restaurant. I bring people here from out of town. But tonight. It was one of the bartenders last day. Which was awesome. I don't think this hindered the service. But the service was terrible. We sat there with menus for 15 minutes at the bar and there were 3 bartenders around 4 pm. Not real busy. But NO ONE talked to us. No one! Not a hello nothing. Menu was down and we were literally staring at the bartenders and it was like we were invisible. They were helping other customers but customers came and left around us and it was like we were invisible. I was embarrassed to say the least and then super disappointed. I finally asked if we could order a drink and we were helped. I did not leave a tip because a tip was not deserved. I will try again but it will be awhile. read more

I went there for a casual night out with a friend. The service was great, the selection of beers was season appropriate, and not loaded down with trendy IPAs, but a real drinkable assortment including a tasty honey wheat and cider. The menu is really nice with an assortment of some classic German and Irish pub food, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers and vegan options and creative choices. The fries were really good. The cheese curds were tasty and square/crispy. The building itself is really cool, and old stone inn by the waterfront. I was really a nice cool local find. We did pickup from here on a Thursday night and the process was super easy. They text you when the order is ready and will do curbside delivery or you can go in and pick it up in what looks like the gift shop. When I went in, everyone was masked and maintaining their distance. We ordered the cheesecurds, gator po' boy with coleslaw and the elk burger with fries. Really the basis for us stopping was the cheesecurds because I had heard they were some of the best in WI. I will definitely say they are unique! They are cube shaped and looked to have some fun pan fry marks, but oddly didn't have as much cheese as I was expecting. The outside seemed to taste more breaded even though it didn't look like it. I did appreciate that they came with ranch and marinara. I dont think that that ranch is a homemade one though. Overall they were decent curds. We also ordered the gator po'boy which came on a long toasted roll with tomatoes, lettuce, and sriracha aioli. There was no easy way to eat this as a sandwich as the insides went everywhere. The gator was a little greasy for my taste, but my friend thought it was good. The coleslaw was a pretty standard creamy one. The elk burger was the sandwich I was most excited to try. On the menu it said that it came with lettuce, tomato, and red onion but to our big disappointment when we opened the box there were no toppings. Not even ketchup to go with the fries included with the meal. The burger itself was good, but it would have been better if there were toppings. We ended up putting he marinara sauce from the cheesecurds on it to give some dimension. The fries were too salty and a little greasy for my taste. The lack of condiment also didn't help. Overall, staff was nice but food was lacking a little for price. I appreciate the unique menu and maybe we just came on an off night, but it wasn't quite what I expected given how good of reviews I've heard about this place. read more

Frequent this business at least 1/month. I also have subscribed to their mug club. The food and beer selection while not ridiculously expansive, what they focus on is very good. My favorite is the pizza - but have tried many of their rotating menu items and beers, all locally sourced. They also have been awarded the honor of best cheese curds in Wisconsin and have been featured on the travel channel. Great experience here on 8/22 (Tuesday). We came early and sat down right away with three adults and two young kids. Server was very attentive and brought us everything we asked for. Food here is GREAT - you can not go wrong with any menu item! My wife had crab cakes and my MIL the fish fry. I had a pulled pork sandwich with beer cheese sauce. For the first time EVER, I'm writing from the restaurant before leaving. We have visited here numerous times; and obviously each was a positive experience. That came to a crashing end tonight for our family. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with onions, cooked medium. My wife ordered the Bier garden salad with "in season fruit". When she asked what the fruit was, she was told it was "oranges". When our food arrived the waiter placed my wife's salad in front of her and said, I hope you don't mind, they gave you apples not oranges. Being polite, my wife said she'd eat it only to find out after he left that the apples were actually pears. Thankfully it wasn't an allergen that the cooking staff totally misidentified. When I cut my burger in half, it was bloody, raw, and cold inside. I didn't even attempt to eat it because the meat wasn't even cooked! I waited till the waiter returned and sent it back. I waited another 10-15 mins for my new burger. When the second burger was brought to me, not only was it missing the bacon, it too was RAW AGAIN!!!! When the waiter returned I let him know it was raw again. He asked if I wanted another and I simply laughed and said "No Thanks, I give up." How do you screw up two burgers in a row the same exact way????? The waiter talked to the manager and she approved removing the burger from the check. Its the best place for meeting friends and sampling some of the local Favorites. You wont get a gourmet 5star meal but you will get the traditional Wisconsin ambience and some great brews. Not exactly known for the Wi old fashioned or whiskey sour. I learned the hard way. Recommend the stone cellar vanilla stout or the pale ale. These guys are winners of the best cheese curds (2019) for good reason. Cheese curds 10/10, duck wontons 8/10 (too much cream cheese but still delish), pizzas are 10/10 (especially because they have roasted red peppers as a choice of topping), and 11/10 for the elk burger... *AMAZING*! Get it medium rare on a pretzel bun with caramelized onions. Oh and the garlic mashed potatoes are fire. One of the managers, Ali, knows her shit. Ask for her, she'll give you the low down and she recommended the elk burger. No regrets. read more

There is usually a place that you would always choose to go when you want some comfort food and some tasty beers and this is my place. The 16" Works pizza is usually our fix after a hard working day. He has two sodas (root beer and orange cream) and I have two beers on tap. Their thin crust pizza probably is the best in town. A 16" pizza also allows us to take some home for lunch the next day. :-) Services are always good. Food comes quickly so if your intention is to have your meal on a slower pace, make sure to order the main dish after enjoying a couple side dishes. The service at the bar was excellent - the waitress checked back with us just often enough. We ordered dinner, I had the Wienerschnitzel and one other person ordered the salmon salad, which I had been contemplating. The salmon was the better dish of the two. The pork cutlet was pounded nice and thin and nicely fried, but there was no real sauce on top, just a few capers sprinkled around and a lemon slice. Well, where to start! I understand that we all need patience due to staffing shortages everywhere. But our food took over an hour. Our waitress was clueless to things on the menu. When we asked about any nightly specials she rattled something off but couldn't (and didn't) elaborate as to what that special was. When questioned about something on the menu she had to go back and ask. We had the spinach and artichoke appetizer and there wasn't enough salt in the world to give that any flavor. During our hour wait for our meal she never came back to the table to ask if we needed more drinks, apologize, or explain anything. We were ready to throw cash on the table for what we had and leave when our food miraculously appeared. I had a blah chicken pesto sandwich. The chicken was tough and rubbery and thank goodness the bread had flavor. My husband had a chicken Caesar salad that was dry with soggy croutons. We both had a few bites and called it a night. The menu is pretty lack luster. While waiting, it was also interesting to see so many staff members on their cellphones. From a distance you can tell they were on Facebook and texting. Or their phone was hanging out their pockets. Don't waste your time or you'll be stopping somewhere else when you leave like we are. read more

In fact, they even had a variety of vegan options on their menu that were all clearly marked! Our server happened to be vegetarian which helped when I was deciding between two options but I would have felt confident ordering from anybody knowing, aside from being labeled "vegan," that all of the ingredients were listed out. We have been to Stone Arch many times and things seem to be going downhill. Tonight we ordered a pretzel, lobster bisque soup, Mac and cheese and a Caesar salad with chicken. The pretzel was good, beer cheese dip great! The soup was horrible...almost inedible. The entrees were just fine, nothing special at all. The service was disappointing to say the least. It was not busy at all and our server barely came to our table and it took forever to get closed out. And then when we got our bill we had a 3% surcharge on it with no explanation. When we asked our server what it was for he was rude and said he couldn't do anything about it (we never asked him to remove it, just wanted clarity) and told us it was a "new" thing that credit card companies are forcing them to change. We went with a group of 6 on a Saturday night at 5 pm. I put my name in for a table, and it took about 20 minutes. They did tell us the tap room was open and recommended it. But we wanted to eat downstairs. They called us and told us the table was ready after one beer in the, so we were seated. The server came over and seemed nice. The good environment was nice, but it could have been updated with better tables and fixed up, but it was good. The food was good, not great, had fish and chips, and it was decent. Had artichoke dip and cheese curds, and they were good but very small portions for cost. The bad the service could have been better, we were not given appetizers plates, we ordered 2, we were not given utensils, server did not check on us. Just could have been better. Appetizers way too small of portions for cost. Environment could be a hole run. it just needs to be updated. Visited Stone Arch Tied House in Little Chute for casual dinner. Dining area was clean and not busy at this time. Wait staff was prompt, friendly, efficient, quick to bring beverages and take order. Food was served much quicker than expected and was a delightful plate of beautiful quality, sweet succulent fish, wonderful fries, and good slaw and sauce. Would highly recommend this place, Kudos to the chef! The only thing I would change would be to sit farther from the outside door to avoid cold draughts as more lucky diners enter. read more

Stopped here for dinner on a work trip to Appleton. It's an interesting place and indeed is a legitimate stone cellar. The service was good if not fantastic but they were quite busy. We ordered the cheese curds to started and they were oddly shaped (square) but quite good. I had the macaroni and cheese which was also pretty good if a touch too runny to be prefect, again it's a slight thing not a real issue. I also had a pint of the scotch ale which was quite good.
