The beer is wonderful! The staff is terrible. One lady in particular - mid 50s, blonde hair. This lady is rude, very drunk on power, and thinks she has the right to treat people terribly. I wouldn't go here if you want nice people to interact with. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I love that they have so many cask beers available, and they're all great! The outdoor space is great, as is the overall welcoming nature of the place. It's quickly become one of my favorite breweries. Thursday night at 6p, lots of boardgame enthusiastics! Once a month, you get to drink local and interesting craft beers and play boardgames with friends if you like both activities. There is no kitchen, but you can get some free popcorn or have some nibbles for a dollar. You can also carry-on or takeout orders from the food truck outside or nearby restaurans. I love the atmosphere in the place and the craftsmanship of the interior. This is a tip-free place because they pay their staff at a reasonable wage. read more

The beer garden is just what Appleton needed in the summer. I frequented this place about four different times during my month visit. I may have a slight drinking problem, but McFleshman's is just that good! Grab an afternoon Sunday beer or start your night out on the ave here. As of July they were brewing their beer next door at Appleton Brewing Factory while they are working on getting their own equipment ordered/built/set up. They are currently open Thursday-Sunday, however once they have brewing equipment running, the owners said they'll be expanding the hours. I think they make a great addition to the N.E.W. craft brewery scene and bring something different to the area. Previous to going here I had only tried a few English beers and I ended up having a flight. I really enjoyed their assortment and I appreciated that they explained a little bit about each style. The bartenders are paid a living wage and all tips are donated to a different local charity each month. From the beautiful back bar to the loft space, everything in the building has a story. They have gender neutral bathrooms. On the walls there is work from local artist and small plants in all of the windows. I cannot wait for them to start doing brewery tours and other events - the owners are very nice and hilarious - I'm sure whatever they do will be a great time. read more

Great new brew pub in Appleton! I got to come here as part of a beer class (yes, you read that right!) with the recent Reunion at nearby Lawrence. I'll admit this was a bit of an atypical experience due to that, but I enjoyed myself and would definitely come back so that's what counts, right? It's a nice space tucked away from College Ave a bit (still near Appleton Beer Factory, so you can make a nice beer afternoon of it if you choose to). Lots of dark wood to make it welcoming, and there's a little loft-like space up front to sit if you want to feel different. All the staff there were very friendly and informative, and they've got a nice selection (of course, all brewed by them). They've come up with some fun names and homages to other breweries, which keeps it fun. One thing I learned while there is that they don't accept tips (bartenders and servers). They pay all their staff a 'full' wage, and then pick a charity of the month, so if anyone does tip they donate to that charity. I like that approach. I've already recommended this place to the locals, and I plan to check it out again next time I'm in the area! read more

We had a yelp event here--the staff is extremely knowledgeable about beer. This is the perfect place to go if you want to enjoy a beer---the beer garden is an amazing outdoors option for beer sipping, conversation, and you can bring your own food. The inside bar is beautiful and transports you to another land. They take their beer seriously! I believe I learned more from the staff here than I have learned about beer so far my entire life. Whoa another new brewery for Northeastern, WI and this one is in Appleton! A quick backstory, I was told that the owner is a professor from Lawrence University, and they have relationship with their neighbors Appleton Beer Factory as they will brew the beer for them since their space is too small. It might be small, it's an exceptional space. It has an Irish pub feel with the wood paneling, low circular tables, and a stained-glass image behind the bar. The front part of the building is more of a lounge area with couches and popcorn machine, and there's a small upstairs area with five or so tables. The ordering process is very much like a fast-food restaurant, standing in a line, make your order, move to the side and pick up your drink. Something unusual is the bartenders don't take tips. I was told that they are given a regular living wage. If you do give them a tip, they will donate it to the non-profit of their choice which changes every few months. That's super neat! On to the important part...the beer! They're still relatively new, so they had four beers of their own along with a few local beers from the Fox Valley. I tried two beers. A sour and an IPA. The sour I liked, not overly sour but still tart. The IPA was kind of flat and not hoppy at all. They need to work on their beer a little, but the space is great especially if you want to relax in a fairly quiet atmosphere. read more

Met some friends here for pre-dinner drinks for my husbands birthday. Outstanding beer selection. I had the Coeur de Tarte, which was one of their fruit ales. Balanced, refreshing, crisp, stone fruit flavor. Also took a sip of my husbands MSB Oaked, which was like hygge in a beer mug. The decor is outstanding. Although the bartender told us the owners gutted the building, it feels like it is all original. Fun vintage decor, cheeky signs, bike and dog friendly, tons of games and things for patrons to do. Visiting Appleton and happened upon this place! Made me feel like I was in a true Irish pub. Great staff, great vibe. They have this super fun board where you can pay forward a beer, or pay and dedicate a beer to someone (e.g. first responders, service members, person having a bad day). McFleschman's has quickly become one of my favorite breweries in the Appleton area! I think it's very cool that any tips collected in the venue during live music go to the musician. Their beer is top notch and that's saying a lot coming from a brewer from a well-established Green Bay brewery! I had the MSB beer on cask recently and it became one of my new favorites! Purse/coat hooks, an Irish snug, a stained glass mural, gender neutral bathrooms, staff that are paid a living wage so you don't need to tip, tips that are donated to rotating local charities, and AMAZING BEER. I am over the moon that I can walk here, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this place. It is hands down, the best place for a pint in Northeast WI. First time here this weekend for a gathering of former work colleagues. What a tremendous place! The interior is very cozy and great for conversation. Want to have a quick game of cribbage or a chess matchup? They have the game supplies. Oh yeah, the beer ... it's terrific! Also, the bartenders are paid well enough that they don't accept tips. Any tips offered go to charity. The evening we were there, a Caribbean food vendor set up there. This place is just off the main College Avenue bar scene, but it feels a world away. Hidden off the beaten path of College Avenue this pub is the perfect respite from the loud crowds of downtown. They offer new brews every now and then but also have a few staples on tap. The walls and floor are a dark wood with plenty of seating at different levels inside. The owners and staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming so it feels cozy right when you walk in. You can get some popcorn or a small snack otherwise you can bring in your own food. How nice is that! Fun spot to hang out on a cold lazy winter day and play a game or two with a delicious brew.
