The bar is wide open and has a few side seating areas for quieter conversation. We ordered our first round and headed out to the "cocoon". The cocoons are mini houses that can be reserved ahead of time. A cool spot to link up to the Bluetooth, chill or even watch a game or show that's on in privacy. There are about 4-5 to pick from. There's a common green turf area that would be dog friendly and good for larger gatherings with fire pits. We had a server check on us and give us great service. We ordered a few apps, hummus, baked feta, pizzas and more. The food was great and they make a decent pear old fashioned. We enjoyed the field study Hazy IPA and the stout was awesome. Great space to chill and enjoy the conversation and have some privacy as well. They have heat/AC in the cocoons to make it comfy too. Great venue and service and the beer was great!

It was taken home to add proper salt & enjoy w/ a good beer cheese. The cheese curds, the only saving grace of the entire meal. They also upon arrival offer a trio of pickles. We ordered 2 hamburgers. Had wanted a cheese burger w/ American but it's not an option. Asked for the plain hamburger to be served w/pink. It was well done and flavorless, not even S&P. The other burger was their black&bleu. We thought it strange that it was served w/ bleu cheese crumbles in addition to blue cheese dressing. We asked for the dressing on the side. 1) which was good because it would've drowned the small patties 2) Perhaps they add the dressing because they add so few crumbles of the actual bleu cheese. The double patties you get are enough to "separate" to actually cover the bun vs having a large part of the bun plain. The buns are too thin to even support a single patty, breaking apart when you take the first bite. The beer battered fries that come w/ the burger are a good size portion but were also flavorless. And when speaking w/ the manger we were informed they were supposed to even have a little kick to them; not the case. It was a tad off putting hearing the conversation(s) the bartender was having at the bar. A bit too loud for what was being discussed and with the language being used. Fine, I guess for a Friday/Saturday night or a bar away from the dinning area. But on a Sunday, for lunch, maybe not so many cuss words. This hasn't been our first time here but it will be our last. Staff is pleasant enough and obviously there were guests that quite enjoy it. There are just other places in De Pere w/ great burgers, consistent quality, and equivalent price points.

Hinterland is…read morethe type of place where you can be super casual but also enjoy a more elevated dining experience. The main dining room can get very loud on busy nights so I appreciated the more closed off space for a large dinner event. The caveat being we received spotty service - for example, water pitchers were set in the corner and you had to get up to pour your own water. At minimum, it would've been better to just leave pitchers on the table directly for faster access. Food was hit or miss. While we loved the appetizers, half of our table found their main entrees to be MEH. For example, my halibut arrived warm but the curry was room temperature. My colleague said her burger was one of the worst she's had. My other colleague said his steak was mediocre. People who ordered pizza loved it. An unfortunate mixed bag given the lively environment and nice ambiance. I'd come back again to give it another try because the menu rotates enough where I'm sure I'll land on some better food options next time.

It's a rare find when they crush both! This ragu was made with homemade bucatini (love this pasta) and the pasta has a lovely chewiness to it that makes it the ultimate comfort food. The sauce is complex (definitely not canned sauce) and has a wonderful range of flavors with a hint of heat but absolutely delicious. I am dining alone but you could easily share this especially if you order a salad to share. I love this place and they never disappoint. Servers are exceptionally attentive and I always leave satisfied with my life choices.

Ihop may be the only thing that saved our visit. We ordered a trio appetizer: chicken wonton tacos, quesadillas and riblets; a two for $25 meal deal: sirloin steak and O-M- Cheeseburger with mozzarella sticks as an appetizer; and a kids pancake with yogurt and fruit as a side. We waited for a while as we got there just before the dinner rush. Our main courses came out before our appetizer came. I had to inquire about the appetizer from our 2/$25 and the side of fruit and yogurt for the kids meal, which they brought right out. The quality of the food was awful! I ordered the new O-M-Cheeseburger and by the time they brought our food out all of the melty cheese had hardened and half of my burger stuck to the plate when I tried to pick it up. The sirloin steak was beyond well done even though we order it medium rare. We couldn't even cut it. The mashed potatoes had way too much parsley dumped on top of them. All that was edible as the side of broccoli. We didn't eat our main courses, just the appetizers. The kids meal was the saving grace of our entire trip. I also order a sirloin meal to go when we ordered our food which they brought out as we finished and were waiting for the bill. I had ordered it rare hoping it would be perfect reheated. It was medium well. I was not impressed with the quality of food and our table tipped every time you moved which for having just remodeled was unacceptable. Unfortunately I still have money leftover on a gift card and I have no inclination to go to any Applebees again.
