First time to Tybee. First time to StingRays. Our last im afraid. This was their slow season. We were ushered to our table quickly but the wait for the food was a king one. Every single dish we ordered was super salty. Even my husband could t take it and he puts salt on almost everything. They wouldn't take it back or remedy it. They only thing they offered was a sauce to "help " it. We ordered drinks. The Rum runner was decent however the Boucher Cindee was terrible. Again, they wont take it back. Stung like Steve Irwin but we lived, barely Started at the bar with poorly mixed cocktails. Like a college fraternity party all cheap alcohol and a splash of mixer. If you are under 22 this is the bar for you. If you enjoy a well-made drink this is not your place. Conch fritters so over fried the looked like an 8 ball on the pool table. But the tiny bits of conch were so overcooked the Michelin man would be proud to make tires out of it. Order a mix of items for entrees. Steamed clams but received steamed mussels but good news they corrected the order and did not charge the extra dollar the mussels cost over the clams. Thank you manager on duty for only charging us for what we ordered. Crab cakes that looked like a fried plain donut without a hole but a donut may have more crab flavor. I knew it was a mistake to order the tuna steak and it was over seasoned on the "naked" tuna steak and the dryness of styrofoam but herb-rific. The burger your best Sysco patty, 'nough said And if cleanliness is next to godliness, Stingrays must be atheists. You expect to churned and burned in tourist traps but you will spend two plus hours at the table. Avoid at any and all costs. read more

We were actually walking to a different restaurant and smelled the food coming from StingRay's. We decided to try it and we were very glad we did. We were seated quickly on the deck and enjoyed live music while eating the DELICIOUS food. I highly recommend the shrimp tacos!!!! Really laid back atmosphere and they really know how to fry their seafood. We had the fried shrimp dinner and it was lightly battered and cooked perfectly. My mother had the oyster poboy and said she hadn't ever had oysters cooked so well. The portions are generous especially since seafood is a little pricier. Overall a really good meal. read more

Went on Mother's day for lunch. every thing was seasoned to perfection. our waitress was very helpful and on point. i ordered the shrimp po boy and he order the low country boil. both were delicious. we had moscow mules to drink, they were good. a patrons som who was seated near us put his toy in my partners drink and the waitress exchanged it out, no problem. we appreciate her for that. the experience was a great one for Mother's day 2024. would return again. read more

Decided to try this place while vacationing on the island. We went in a Sunday around 8pm. It was packed with people, we were told It would be a 45 minute wait. The wait wasn't bad at all, may have been a hair under 45 minutes. We were seated and ordered right away, however it took a full 55 minutes to get our food. Majority of the seating is outside, there is a small bar located inside. The outside seating is nothing fancy, just lots of picnic tables for everyone to eat at. I ordered the Fisherman's Fried Platter, I expected my food to be hot because of the wait but my fish and fries were cold. The shrimp were hot and the best thing on the platter. I wasn't a big fan of the fried oysters or scallops, but would definitely come back for the fish and shrimp. read more

This place was a surprise in some ways. It's a near beachfront place so it was very casual and unassuming. I got the mahi tacos and the fish was overcooked which was disappointing but was happy they had the mahi option. The rest of our parties meals were nothing to write home about but my wife got a tuna steak and it was incredible. Seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly. No joke one of the best tuna steaks I've ever had. Overall this would be a 3 if not for how delicious that tuna was. The host was an older gentleman and we got seated near the host station and he was screaming the names on the list, it was totally unnecessary and jaring. He looked pissed to be there too. read more

If you are looking for a seafood restaurant that offers amazing food as well as a great atmosphere this is the establishment for you. This was recommended to me while being in the area and I am sure glad I stopped. Atmosphere: 4.5/5 (see photo) This establishment offers a great atmosphere with multiple floors options as well as indoor seating if desired. The seating was well spaced out with comfortable lawn chair style seating to give off that beach vibe. The deck option outside offers a canopy that covers the entire sitting area making it a nice shaded area if there is a cool breeze. Service: 4/5 The service that was provided by the waitress was good and expected. The reason why this service got the score it did was due to the time it took from ordering to receiving food. The time that it took between ordering and receiving food was about 10-15 minutes which is an incredible feat. Normally I am skeptical as to how food gets out that fast because of possible things being skipped just to get food out resulting in bad tasting food. To my surprise and when you read the food section I was no longer skeptical. Food: 5/5 (see photo) My table ordered the fish plate and the Mahi-mahi tacos. The fish plate had two perfectly battered and fried pieces of fish. These were big fillets and very delicious. The plate also came with two incredible hush puppies and a basket-full of fries. The tacos were 3 full tacos of blackened pieces of Mahi-mahi and came with two different sauces that definitely added great flavor when added. The table also got both mango sunrise and Georgia mule cocktails which were each very good. Cost: 4/5 Normally seafood is fairly pricy, but I thought the prices were fair. With how the food and drinks tasted I thought the prices to be well worth the cost. The fish plate meal cost $22.99 while the Mahi-mahi tacos were $19.99. Each drink was $12. Again, for this being seafood and great food at that this was a great deal. Overall: 4.4/5 I was recommended this restaurant because of being in the area. If you find yourself in the area and are looking for a great seafood place this is you restaurant. You won't be upset that you went here. We ordered two fried shrimp platters and one low country special. While the service was great (the only reason we gave 2 stars) the food was not. The low country boil was very bland, the potatoes especially so. The shrimp were okay but nothing special. The coleslaw that came with it was tasteless, the crinkle cut fries (underneath all the shrimp) overcooked. With tip our meal cost $150 . SO not worth it! We won't be back. read more

Went here and waited about 30 minutes. The service was excellent. I was here with 5 other people who got mani sandwich, crab cakes, and a few other items. Hush puppies were amazing. I didn't not like the coconut shrimp very much. The side of corn seemed really over price for a 1/2 corn on the cob with so butter or seasoning for 3$+ The crab cakes were ok. Mahi sandwiches looked tasty and were probably the highest rated thing the table had. There were a few flys that made dinner less appealing. The drink menu was extensive and looked great but I'm not drinking right now. Overall not sure why there was such a wait, I will have to try some fresh fish next time. read more

Tons of sausage. The add on snow crabs were great too. My wife had the Tybee Fisherman's Platter. It was a lot of fried stuff, but the cook on the oysters and shrimp were great. The crab cake was a monster. Only complaint was COVID precautions here are non-existent. The place was pretty packed. Staff routinely running around masks off. If you're looking for a good seafood boil, this is NOT the place to go. We got the low country boil with crab legs and it was very disappointing for the price we paid. The crab legs were small, not much meat. That, the shrimp, and corn weren't seasoned well. The shrimp were almost impossible to peel. Oh and we always enjoy having an insult served with our meal! Waiter made sure to remind us not to steal the crackers. Unless you're staying within walking distance or can uber, then don't both trying to go! They don't have any parking and the tiny lots near them you'll have to pay for. I'd have to say we won't be back. read more
