One of the best BBQ places. Got that real BBQ smell when you walk in the door. I get chopped brisket plate. They don't get the chopped out of the pot. They actually cut the brisket in front of you and chop it up. Sauce was excellent along with new potatos and pinto beans. Recommend it as drive to perfection. Not many of those places left. Friendly service clean restroom. The brisket was very dry and no flavor. The ribs were moist but very little flavor. I prefer bbque that does not require sauce to be added so the meat has flavor. The sides were served cafeteria style. They had a large selection but the food has no flavor. It's too bad because the people are very nice. We not will return. This a mom and pops type of place. Good service,good value. Home made bbq and side dishes. Food was average bbq.

Not too bad a place while on the road. Makes getting a decent meal with a decent price a reality. Not big on frills and not too big on chit chat. These people give you what you want at a very reasonable price. One caveat is that the place is incredibly clean, they had an employee that was continuously cleaning just about every surface in, and outside, the business. read more

I tried a large plate (which is 3 meats and 2 sides) mainly because it was "the right thing to do" AKA I'm greedy slash couldn't decide. I ended up getting the regular sausage, brisket and ribs with jalapeño pinto beans and green beans. The regular sausage was amazing! Ribs were pretty ok, and the brisket was ok though a bit on the dry side for me. Green beans and pinto beans were descent. Overall was definitely satisfied based on the price for the amount of food I got and it tasting descent, so a win in that respect. I'm wouldn't put this is the must stop category, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to folks passing through. read more

Small BBQ plate had enough meat for me for 3 meals! Hubby wiped out his large bbq plate. My son ate a good bit of his large plate. So we took home the rest! All the meat was delicious! Turnip greens had a good flavor to them but a little too salty. The parsley potatoes didn't have much of any flavor. Staff was friendly and helpful! read more

Stopped by there Saturday 5/27/17 around 12:00 to get a to go order for 10 people celebrating my Daddy's 80th Birthday. Everyone enjoyed the Ribs, Brisket, and Baked Potatoes, they ordered, and I was happy about the fact that when I realized my sister forgot to bring the birthday cake that they had 5 different types of cakes to choose from. Since all the cake is sold by the slice and I had no idea of what everyone would like I got two of everything. The cake slices are large enough to cut into more then one serving so everyone was able to try all the different types of cake they had. They were all yummy! read more

First if you are on I35 this is the easiest place to get to, it's on the access road so that is real nice. The place is very clean, very friendly and open on Sunday's. I basically hit every BBQ joint between Round Rock and here along I35 on a Sunday and they were all closed. The food is good, spicy sauce is spicy which I like. Was in the way home from BSR Waterpark and was wanting some bbq. It has a quaint small town family feel and a slow down country atmosphere. However, the food was pretty so so. Now granted I did order the Ham sandwich but I just wasn't impressed with the sandwich or the sides. The workers are friendly, the food just wasn't great. read more

I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would recommend this BBQ!!??? It was no good. We got the brisket and chicken. I'm not even sure you could call the brisket smoked meat. I honestly think it was cooked in the oven. The chicken was horribly dry. We're driving through from Dallas and I read the other YELP reviews and thought we'd give it a try. No, no, no. Holiday traffic made me decide to pull off the interstate for a while and try this place. Ordered medium plate of brisket spicy sauce with baked beans and potato salad Potato salad: traditional style like you find t most bbq joints. It had a very slight odd, almost metallic flavor to it, but overall was good. Baked beans: Very good. Everything you expect from baked beans at a bbq joint. Perfect complement to the bbq. Brisket: A good subtle smoky flavor. It's a good texture, not too dry not too moist, though a couple pieces were a tad chewy. Unlike meats found in Lockhart or Llano, this meat won't stand out on it's own, it definitely needs sauce. But the sauce does a good job with that. The spicy does have a bit more kick than many places I'v been too that call their sauce spicy, but it's not so much kick it will have your mouth burning. It adds a good flavor to the meats. And it's served with Texas toast, which in my opinion is a little bit better than plain ole bread. On the plus side the meal with drink was under $13, and the medium plate is plenty of meat. You won't get this much meat and two sides at a chain like Rudy's. The staff, while not overly cheery was cordial and quick. I imagine they may have been tired with the extra holiday crowds too. The restaurant seating area could be better. It feels like you are dining at a dining hall or big meeting room because it's so open and there's just a few tables trying to fill up this big space. It's a strange feel. Overall, while I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, it's very likely on my next trip through I'd stop again and likely try the ribs or chicken. Stopped for lunch today and have to say this will be our one and only trip. The ribs need several things: (1) remove the membrane from the backside, (2) a seasoned rub the night before and (3) leave them in the smoker until tender. The ribs were tough to the point of difficult to get off the bones and chew. They do not have a child's plate of any kind. The sides were nothing special and the coconut cream pie was terrible. We use Yelp to find barbeque on the way home from Austin. This is the best barbeque that I've had in the 16 yrs that I've live in Texas! We passed by this place a couple weeks back on a road trip and decided today to make a special trip to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. My husband and I enjoy trying out "mom and pop" restaurants, and this is definitely one of those. There's a great variety of meats to choose from, and we both chose a medium plate so we could each try two meats. He got turkey and "lean" brisket, and I tried the pulled pork and "moist" brisket. Each plate comes with two sides, and again, there are plenty to choose from. The green beans seasoned with bacon were good, but I will have to honestly say that my mom's pea salad tops theirs. But, then again, I've never had pea salad that was better than my mom's. We tried the tea because lots of reviewers ranted about it. I can't say how good the sweet tea is, but the unsweet tea was excellent. The place has a very relaxed and cozy atmosphere, and the service was as friendly as we'd expect from a country eatery. We drove an hour to try this restaurant, and we both agreed that we most certainly will stop by again when passing through. read more
