I guess this has that nice independent coffee feel. I was walking around and didn't want to order today from the "big" coffee shops. I found this one as I was walking along browsing the shops that line the street. I just ordered the light roast coffee brew. I didn't like it too much. I found there is a lingering acidic taste I didnt like. Must be the type of bean. But its still worth trying the other drinks. They also serve cookies and dates which is really reasonably priced, surprisingly around $2-3. Other coffee shops charges an arm n a leg for these things. Its always good to support small, independent businesses. The lady who took my order was courteous, the place is clean, the seats are comfortable. Will be back to try other things. I did not expect much when I asked if they could do a flat white and ordered it when the reply was affirmative. I opened the lid and it looked promising. I had a sip and I was transported back to Australia. It was an awesome flat white. Totally unexpected. I had pretty much given up on getting a truly good flat white like what you would get in Australia (where it came from) over here. It was always hit and miss at other coffee places. I do hope this place will be consistent as the person who made it seemed to be the owner. Now that I discovered it here, this shall be my must go place for coffee in Steveston. I presume they roast their beans and the flat white is very smooth with a velvety mouthfeel. Not much of the microfoam though. It has a non acidic aftertaste which I prefer. This place has many regulars and I can see why. During covid-19, it is only open for take out. read more

Adorable, teeny, tiny coffee shop in the heart of Steveston Village. This spot is owned by the cutest elderly couple who work here almost every day. I popped in here twice in one day - once to grab coffee for my work friend and the other to get some work done post-meetings. They have plenty of different coffee options with a few sandwiches and baked goods to eat. I ordered two iced coffees to go and they were perfectly made. Like I said above, after my meetings, I had some time to kill and came back here to get some work done. I was hungry, so I ordered a breakfast wrap with salsa on the side. It was small, but filling, and perfectly grilled. Despite the touristy area, it seemed like there were plenty of locals coming in and out of this spot while I was in, and the owners recognized everyone and knew their orders. I love business owners that take the time to get to know their customers and make continuous effort to build those relationships. Steveston Coffee does this well! A great little neighbourhood spot that I'll be back to visit again soon. read more

Decided to stop in this coffee shop while there and ordered a ham and cheese croissant which is honestly one of the best croissant items I've ever had in my life. Quaint small coffee place in Steveston . It has about 3 tables plus 2 seats by the window. There are also 2 small patio tables outside. We really like their Kitsilano cookie and Mocha that has 3 shots of expresso. In the summer we had their iced coffees which were very good. In time, we would like to try all their other drinks. The coffee is strong and smooth, the way we love it. Our cashier today was a young man who was pleasant and attentive. The baristas were probably the owners-husband wife team as I have seen them there every time we are there. I accidentally spilled some coffee on my husband while we sat outside with our furbaby. I went in and asked the pleasant cashier for some water so that we could clean my husband's sweater and the patio table . If looks could kill, I would have died as the female owner gave me the coldest glare ever. As my husband and I were cleaning up the coffee spill, she came out to clean the table and to also pour water in the floor . We apologized for the spill and slight mess. No response from her. She simply had a sour puss look. We were told this cafe is dog friendly as they give dog treats and welcomes dogs both inside and out. But she is definitely not people friendly. They have regulars . I don't know how she treats them but don't think we will ever be regulars if she continues to be miserable the next time we visit . Come to think of it, she had never been pleasant. Coffee is awesome but can't say she is. Wish she was . Pity as we will tell friends that coffee is great but to watch out for sour puss face. read more

I enjoy Steveston coffee the first time when I came to Vancouver to visit my friend last year. My friend introduced me and took me to this shop to buy some. This year when I came back to visit I picked up two different dark roasts for my caffeine and coffee addiction. It is a small coffee shop and is a little-cramped inside. You can get coffee to go or sit inside. They had desserts with gluten-free and vegan options. I didn't have any but they looked amazing. read more

Not bitter (*coughbucks *cough) at all and I asked for no sugar, like in all my coffee and just a bit of milk. They have lots of other beans and teas aswell. Found this coffee shop via yelp reviews, and glad we were able to swing by for a visit while hanging out in the fairy tale land of "Storybrooke" (aka Steveston in real life). We ordered: (1) Iced latte $3.75 for small (2) Pecan bar $2.00 (3) Arancia (Orange) pelligrino $2.00 All items were decent, nothing too spectacular but there was FREE wi-fi! A perfectly okay spot, I suppose - the layout is pretty cramped, but there's not much they can do about that given the space they're working with. It may have just been a busy day, but they seemed to have run out of a lot of their food items as well (and those they did have looked quite similar to the kinds they sell in coffee shop chains in the rest of Metro Vancouver). Unfortunately, I went for a mocha and got something that tasted like plain coffee with a tiny bit of cacao in it. I wasn't even really sure I had a mocha until I checked the label they printed on it. It was weird, heavier on the coffee than just about any other mocha I've had and without much flavour besides. Overall, I can't say there's anything really wrong with the place, but I don't think I'd return next time I'm in Steveston. They claim to have dozens of varieties of coffee on offer, so maybe if you're a true coffee connoisseur who likes to drink a lot of straight black coffee you'd find their offerings more interesting! read more

Steveston Coffee has been the darling heart of coffee shops before most other coffee shops came to this town. It's not a cookie cutter design. More like a hand crafted artisan coffee shop that looks and feels organic. You get the feeling that the baked goods are made in premise and that there is a local community vibe with the place that you don't get with those franchised outlets that are so popular with the students. That's the one thing I can't stand is to have students just lounging with their laptop for hours doing their homework over a single cup of coffee. It's not just a few, it's a hord of them all over this city and country. Don't they have homes or libraries to study in like we used to do in the old days? OK times have changed. but.. At Steveston Coffee you never seems to be those cafe loungers problematically taking over your space that is required for real customers who want to get a cup of java or tea and a biscuit and to chat a bit while having their beverage. It is a real coffee shop in my eyes. I haven't had too much over the years. I mainly choose the regular drips or an Americano when I do come here. It's always the same for me. Perhaps I should change it up and try something else? Whatever that decision will be, I enjoy knowing that there is a place that can be a haven for the local community, the people who work here. Been here three times and left feeling cheated every time. Thought I'd give them a chance, it's like going back to an ex boyfriend with a very unhealthy relationship; you want to love them but they keep ripping you apart. Ordered three drinks in total: iced latte, hot americano, cold brew. SPECIFICALLY asked for less ice for cold brew but the barista (probably owner) gave me a full cup of ice before pouring in already diluted iced coffee. Cold brew wasn't even filled up to the top despite the full cup of ice. Didn't realize i ordered coffee with my huge cup of ice. Iced latte was also filled to the brim with ice. What's the point of asking for less ice when you're going to ignore it anyways. The americano has very little crema which shows either age of bean, lack of quality or improper grind/weight. Very disappointed with this visit and would not come back again. read more

This place is super popular and it's hard to get a seat if you're looking for somewhere to sit and linger over coffee. I was fine with sharing my table with strangers, but if you're not into that, this might not be the place for you - because people WILL ask to sit down at your table (but why not live a little and let them - maybe you'll have a cool conversation with a stranger). Their coffee is organic and they have chalkboards that cover the cafe explaining the roasting process which is nice if you're a coffee geek (but honestly, there are chalkboards EVERYWHERE - they're so covered with menu items and coffee information it's a bit hard to read and it makes the place feel a little busy). I have had an unremarkable latte from them and an OK medium roast black coffee - if the coffee had blown my mind, this would be a 5 star review. Really, all of the stars they get are for their REALLY GREAT selection of vegan, gluten free, dairy free and sugar free eats. I had a pecan bar that was GF, DF and had no added sugar (ie, just sweetened with dates) that was amazing. It's rare to be able to go out and find treats that I can eat given some of the restrictions in my diet - now that I know the selection they have here, it'll always be my first choice when a friend wants to go for coffee! read more

Tiny little cafe in Steveston! Such a find, honestly. It's comfortable and warm and the servers were very kind, even though my group of friends came near closing time. Only comment I have about it is that the barista forgot I needed soy on my order (lactose intolerance) and she made a rather unpleasant face before remaking the drink. Definitely don't recommend this place.... first off they tried to overcharge me when I only ordered a latte and a tea and they were going to charge me $12 for that! I pointed it out and they changed it to what it should have been $7. I ordered a coconut latte and it tasted like watered down coffee with no foam or anything. When I asked to have it replaced after only taking one sip the owner claimed that they don't do that and in a very rude manner as well. Not sure if this place understands the meaning of customer service because there definitely was none there. Super disappointed and this is the reason why you need to stick to places likes Starbucks because the service is amazing and the drinks are great and even if you don't like the taste they change it for you with no questions asked! Heard good things about this local coffee joint so I've given it a few tries and happy to say I did! Friendly, great service staff and killer coffee. They aren't trying to be trendy like the coffee shop down the street, just honest solid coffee...and a bonus I found out that it's organic fair trade too at respectable prices.
