This place has a very good reputation with my neighbors. I went there to buy tires because of that. The price is high, but they seem to do a good job. Time will tell. read more

I called to make an appointment to get a tire taken off a car wheel and installed on s different wheel to be put on the car. I was greeted and after getting the work order prepared I was told it should take no more than an hour. After 45 minutes my car was ready. The tire was installed on the new wheel and balanced and TPMS connected. The old wheel was placed in the trunk as requested. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. Very reasonable. read more

trust is important cuz repairs are expensive good mechanics rule ------ I've brought all our vehicles here (the Nokomis location) for work over the last decade because they inspire trust, do good work, explain things well, and are honest & hardworking folks. They have always given me an fair assessment and labor quotes, do the work correctly and on time, and tell me when/if it's outside of their scope of expertise. I don't want you to come here, cuz it's always been easy to get in for service, and I don't want that to change... but I owe them an honest review. Kudos to Steve's for their good work. read more

Found Steve's on Yelp when our son called complaining that he couldn't get his vehicle in to be serviced at the dealership. He was completely aggravated with the run around and high prices there. I suggested he try Steve's based on the Yelp reviews and they didn't disappoint. The appointment was easy to make he said. He had a strange noise and the car needed an oil change. The whole appointment took thirty minutes. In that time they were able to diagnose and fix the strange noise and do the oil change. Not that I would want them to raise their prices but the cost for the two repairs was really reasonable! read more

Great local car shop. The lobby area has definitely been renovated since someone commented on it below. Service tech was great about explaining different service options to me and prices for each. I had questions about warning lights on my new-to-me Subaru Legacy and he walked me through each of them. I really appreciate honest car guys! Also: website had coupon for an oil change that I had printed off and turned out not to be eligible for (I needed synthetic oil) and he gave me a discount anyway. read more

Steve's Tire & Auto - What a great little beverage/snack station for those of us who choose to stick around while our car is serviced! - Tires Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Brought my used beater truck(2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 Regular cab I just purchased), to have a used car diagnostic as well as replacement of a leaking fuel line in the truck. Received a call a few hours later about the problem and how much it was going to run me. Dave told me it was going to be $1,400ish for the fuel line and with addition $1,300ish for a fuel pump replacement which he sold to me as needing to be fix immediately in total would be $2,700ish w/o tax. I was shocked and wasn't expecting this kind of figure to be thrown at me when I just purchased this truck for $5,000. I told him I needed some time to think about it and hung up. At this point I started doing some of my own research into the pricing of these parts for 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 regular cab fuel line and fuel pump to see where they were getting these high prices for the repairs. Fuel pump https://www.gmautopartsnationwide.com/oem-parts/gm-fuel-pump-19331940?c=bD0xMyZuPVNlYXJjaCBSZXN1bHRzJmE9Y2hldnJvbGV0Jm89c2lsdmVyYWRvLTE1MDAmeT0yMDA1JnQ9YmFzZSZlPTQtM2wtdjYtZ2Fz and fuel line: https://www.carparts.com/details/Chevrolet/Silverado_1500/AC_Delco/Fuel_Line/2005/AC15946178.html?TID=gglpla&origin=&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pla&utm_campaign=12886175984&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlOmLBhCHARIsAGiJg7nkmk9Y4lR8wa84RHsfcXVg0EotENg-lEmQp8McghWOrtuZ8eXLHOUaAj01EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds prices are in these links. These are the higher priced parts I have found for these items. Called Dave back to inquire about the pricing of the parts they were sourcing and told me that it was $750 for the fuel line and $700 for the fuel pump. They were marking up the fuel lines by 350% and the fuel pump by 200% which you can get these in a kit, both parts together from GM for $440. They wanted to charge me $1450 for a part I could purchase myself for $440. And do not get me wrong I understand marking up a product you are reselling but not by 350%! I was able to talk down Dave to drop $300 from the fuel pump price and as we started talking about the fuel line price he gave me an ultimatum by telling me 'come pick up your truck or do you want us to work on it'. Unfortunately I caved at this moment and 'just said get it done..........' REGREATFUL Two days later I get a call saying I can come pick up the truck. Walk in and find the bill for my truck, they did not do the fuel pump replacement that Dave was so adamant that needed to get done not only because the fuel lines might not come off due to rust but due to the moisture on the top of it telling me it too is leaking (probably didn't like me getting him to drop the price of the actual fuel pump they were going to install). On the bill it shows the price of the fuel line which in total was $705 which once again I start questioning why these prices are as high as they are when on the GM own website I can get these parts for less than $200. At this point he asked for the truck keys back and said you can get that when you pay as if I wouldn't pay. Ask any questions and they will treat you like a pariah. I didn't even get the used car diagnostic I originally went in there for after all this. Was treated like a scumbag for asking about their prices and to the best of my knowledge wasn't given the veterans discount we spoke over the phone about. Finale thoughts I would not recommend this place to anyone besides my worst enemies. If you don't know anything about cars these guys are the grease sharks that people have always been warning you about. Avoid at all costs because it will cost you more. read more

twice now i've come here for tire repair, and twice i have been totally impressed with the service here! great job people!!

Extremely disappointed at the complete lack of concern and poor quality service received at this location. The lack of attention to detail by the technicians was appalling. I paid a premium cost here, a third higher than the dealership because I wanted to support a small business but I've learned my lesson! After having one tire replaced, on my drive home I noticed a heavy vibration and loud noise, causing me to have to make a rather inconvenient second trip to find out that they neglected to balance the tire! They didn't neglect to charge me for a balance on the tire but additionally, they missed an unsafe condition the first time I was at the location! There's no way they took it for a test drive. I foolishly agreed to have them replace the unsafe tire, and have now had two brand-new tires put on my vehicle. After leaving the location the second time, and asking two separate technicians if they took my vehicle for a test drive over 60 mph and being reassured that they did and everything checked out great, I had to return a THIRD TIME to this location due to a loud vibrating noise. After being reassured that I would be "taken care of", my vehicle is still not functioning properly. The response after this last visit was an apathetic "oh maybe it's this other thing that's wrong, we aren't sure but drive your car until it gets worse." The quote for that third repair I need is $300-$400 and there's no guarantee that that's the problem! Tire expert's? Nope. Avoid this place at all costs! Cannot stress enough that they allowed me to drive away with an obviously damaged tire. Terrible. read more

Great service and very speedy. I've come to these guys for several jobs and their always upfront and honest. Recently I had to replace my exhaust system. These guys are the real deal. Honest workers, take pride in repeat customers. Every receipt comes with a AAA "Rate your experience" card that goes straight to AAA. They are solid. I had breaks and rotors replaced on my Subaru Outback, and a few other "this and that" things. Felt they did a great job, and feel I paid a fair price. In and out the same day. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is: the front office/check in area is a bit beat up. One thought is that they are too busy fixing cars to buff and shine the front counter. Fair enough. Also, they have a loaner car for you to use if it is being used by someone else already. The thing is an old beater, but at least they have a free car to borrow!! I will use them again, no question. read more

I agree with Cheery, very honest shop, never had a problem. Always able to get my car in quickly.

I'll echo what many have said about the service here.....these folks are amazing. I had a flat tire (screw stuck in it) and they were 30 mins from closing time. They stayed late to get me patched up and they did it with a genuine smile on their face. I found my new shop!! read more

I had a great oil change and tire rotation experience with Steve's Tire and Auto. I accidentally called the Nicollet location first, but after I realized my error (meaning to call the 34th Ave. shop), I called back and they treated me kindly and respectfully. Without my intervention, they transferred my work order. I did have one problem: after I brought the car home, the check engine light came on. They had me swing by the shop, where they quickly identified and fixed the problem. They apologized profusely. Their rates are neither low nor sky high, but their proximity and friendly service mean they're my new auto shop. Thanks, Steve's Tire & Auto! read more

Called in to Steve's for an oil change and they got my car in that same afternoon. Every member of the staff was courteous and friendly. They also gave recommendations and took care of a tire rotation, all in under an hour on a busy Thursday summer afternoon. Steve's Tire & Auto is a high quality automotive fixture of the Nokomis neighborhood. Their staff is communicative, friendly, and honest. I have gone to Steve's for three years now. They worked with me kindly and generously to replace a very problematic air conditioning system in my Prius. They comped me hours of labor as they continued to try to solve the problem. I received a loaner car, regular communication, and clear and reasonable options to fix the problem. read more

If i could give these guys a 0 I would. Extremely overpriced. I Used to use these guys occasionally as a matter of convenience. But after the last time I used them it was such a rip off I swore I would never go there again. On top of being extremely expensive they charged 12% of the bill for shop supplies. Something I had never experienced before even from this place. Must be a way of paying for their remodel. TIP: Go to Nelsons Automotive across the street you won't regret it. See my review on them. read more

I brought my vehicle in for servicing after my check engine light started blinking -- this was the first time I have ever been here. I had my CEL checked and was quoted at about $380 of servicing to replace a fuel injector. Since I thought that was a little pricey, I asked for (and was promised over the phone) a free oil change since my oil's life was also low. My repair ended up being $355 after my AAA discount, but after reviewing the bill I noticed that even though we had discussed a free oil change, the bill reflected a $32.72 charge in labor and parts for the oil change. I thought this to be odd, so I called them, and they told me that I could come in to get it figured out. I drove in and was given an explanation. I had apparently misunderstood that the labor rate was lowered to cover the cost of the oil change, but I was skeptical since this wasn't previously noted to me or written anywhere on the bill, so I wrote them a poor review on Yelp that I didn't believe that to be the truth. Following that review, I got a very nice call from Will at Steve's Tire & Auto who again talked me through the bill and assured me that the labor was indeed reduced, even though it was not documented on the bill, and the oil change was left on the bill for accounting purposes. Will did everything he could to rectify the situation, and his above and beyond service ended up in me trusting them again - we both learned a lesson about communication, and he promised going forward to better document any discounts or special situations like this one so that customers know exactly what they are or aren't paying for. They've earned a loyal customer and a good review as a result of Will's follow up and offer. read more

I don't spend much time in car shops if I can help it. Mechanics tend to be condescending towards me when I don't understand their "lingo" and it makes for an unpleasant experience. This was not at all the case at Steve's Auto. It was very easy to schedule an oil change for my Honda Civic. The initial call took all of thirty seconds. Service, date, time, name, done. When I arrived at the shop I was welcomed warmly. I couldn't tell you how long the service took because I was in no hurry, but the mechanics were very respectful and answered all my questions. I will definitely be coming back and deeply appreciate the patience and professionalism shown to me at this shop. read more

So I'm a woman, a very young woman, and I know nothing about cars. My Dad always told me to let my husband deal with that stuff, but my husband and I are never off at the same time. Anyway, I take my car to another mechanic in St. Paul and the guy basically told me that they were too busy to even look at the car and then he stared at me until I left. I thought this place would be out of my price range because it's small and local, but I'm glad I did. The person at the front desk asked me what was wrong, when I wanted it done, quoted me their standard rates, and offered to have someone drive me home. I have read reviews from here before so I knew they did something along those lines. Really nice guys. Won't go anywhere else! Affordable, fast, professional. read more

Had a totally professional experience, but not slick or packaged. Nice guys and I felt like it was solid honest advice, telling me there's things that didn't have to happen even though they could've told me otherwise easily. These guys are awesome!. We were traveling and we had a major break down. We had never been to the area before and stressed about a major auto repair on a weekend. True professionals! I scheduled an appointment the day before for new tires and an oil change. The guy I spoke with gave me a discount because it was my first time there. I barely walked in the door and was greeted by Chris, the guy working the counter. He was beyond polite and helpful. Things were pretty busy and they forgot to put my windshield wipers on. Instead of letting it go, Chris gave me a call to have me come back in so they could put my wipers on. The thing that really impressed me was, he told me information that I didn't know and that most shops would not share with customers! I am beyond pleased with the work and service that was provided! I have been going to this place for about 4 years now to get my 2004 Honda Accord serviced. I have always had a wonderful experience. All of the mechanics are so so nice and do a GREAT job on my old car. I'm leaving this review because I went to the Richfield Bloomington Honda dealership and had a HORRIBLE experience. I thought that since it was a weird mechanical issue, Honda would have an easier time fixing it. Boy was I wrong. I should have just gone to Steve's. It's affordable, the guys are so nice, and there's that funky Book Traders place across the street to pass the time while you wait. I am very loyal to this place and especially after my RB Honda experience, so so so thankful for it! read more
