Unfortunately as much as my husband and I were looking forward to some good finer food, Steven's Gap didn't meet our needs I was so excited for a grilled cheese. It came out looking amazing! But the toast was oily (not buttery) and the oil did not taste good. Unfortunately, that oil ruined the sandwich. He had the chicken fried steak and later told me the steak was super chewy, not tender. We both enjoyed our fries. The other weird thing about this place is you never get an itemized bill. We received the ticket from the kitchen and then you go to the counter to pay and they tell you a total amount I think the breakfast items and cakes/cheesecakes look promising here but I don't know if we will be back to try then. read more

Went here for the first time and the overall experience was okay and nothing special. There is usually a wait for this restaurant so be wary of that. Ours was about 15 minutes. Customer service was good and food was promptly brought in. We ordered 3 baskets of catfish, 1 ten pieces of Mozzarella sticks, and regular cups of water. Catfish batter was salty for all of us and we all had to take out the outside fried skin for us to eat it. From the inside it was fine. Our total should have been $40+tax, but we were asked for $48.17 which I am not sure why. I was not given any itemized invoice and I just paid it as-is. I think they charge extra for paying with the credit card and if that is the case then customer should be advised first or extra charge should be listed for customer to see instead of just adding and then charging it without customer's approval. We did send a message regarding this through Facebook but never got any response. I will try other restaurant next time. read more

This is a great little gem. Don't judge it be it's drive up. Parking lot was full of guys that had fished that day. Noticed they had almost all ordered the catfish so that confirmed to me it was a solid item to order. We both had a five piece and the filets were nicely seasoned and fresh with a melt in your mouth taste. Good hush puppies. Lots of dessert options with pies and cakes. Cakes are prepared in house. Tried the Hummingbird and Lemon/Blueberry and both tasted like homemade a cake should taste. Don't miss a piece of cake even if you get it to go. read more

It really blesses me to see this parking lot full of vehicles at this local dive. What blesses me even more is their excellent breakfasts. This is THE PLACE for the authentic Hochatown local experience. Underwhelming and overpriced! Our breakfast came out cold and the quality didn't come close to justifying the bill. The gravy tasted like they used a bagged mix that you add water to. I should have known by the artificial syrup on the table that the food was going to be mediocre at best. If you enjoy cheap store bought ingredients, this is your place! Had the Western Omelette and it was tasty. The "breakfast cubes" could have used some salt. The servers were nice just EXTREMELY short staffed when we were there. I felt for the two girls working the front of the house. It's a diner so not much to say about the ambiance of the restaurant. My family and I had a great breakfast at Steven's Gap Restaurant! We were immediately greeted and seated, we got there at the right time because about 15 minutes into our visit, there wasn't a seat left in the house! The waitress was incredibly nice and very fast to take our order. She checked on us multiple times throughout the meal and made sure that we had plenty of coffee. I was very impressed with her as there were only one or two waitresses and she was doing her best with everything/everyone. Our food was very good. My wife said that the pancakes were the best that she had in a long time. They were absolutely massive and had a great flavor to them. My breakfast sandwich was quite good (I got the sausage) and the potato cubes were seasoned perfectly. Steven's gap is definitely a place where we will be back to and I highly recommend you check it out too! read more

Picked up a to go breakfast order on a Monday morning a little bit after they opened. It took around 45 mins to receive our order but happy to report, it was worth the wait! The short stack pancakes were great! Four Fluffy pancakes that are as big as your head! Although they didn't include syrup or butter with the order so remember to ask for it if you want it. The Loaded Breakfast Burrito was another eggcelent choice. Egg, cheese, potatoes, bacon with some jalapeño for a kick. Really flavorful and yummy. A very nice spot to grab breakfast or lunch in Hochatown. Service was great and food didn't disappoint.

Stopped in after a hike at Beavers Bend park. This was right off the main road in Hochatown. Service was slow but greeted immediately and sat rather quickly for it being a Saturday late morning. Like others mentioned, it seems they're short staffed but it's a small mom & pop place so it wasn't a huge bother. We ordered 2 pancakes, a western omelette, a loaded breakfast burrito, French toast, and the 3 egg breakfast. Potatoes were delicious as well as the French toast. My daughter wasn't feeling the look of the burrito (the outside of the tortilla was very white and didn't look cooked) but she said it was really tasty and ate the whole thing. My boyfriend didn't talk - just ate! Haha! Pancakes are GIANT and soooo good! Def a place to check out while in the area. read more

The staff were kind but it felt forced because they told me my to go order would be ready in about 20mins and I waited over 40 mins. The guy who ordered a big to go order after me got his food first and all I ordered was a ham and cheese omelette, no drink and nothing crazy! Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Waitress came and took our order, young girl with a sweet smile. It took a long time to get our food. We opted cheeseburger for him, catfish for me. Burger was fine, nothing special but fine. Catfish was crispy and delicious, tartar sauce was good. French fries were great - super crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Had to take away a star for the hushpuppies - bit into it and it was still wet batter on the inside, so underdone. Didn't venture to try another. When I paid us out, the girl asked if everything was okay. I mentioned the hushpuppies being underdone, but she didn't reply. That's okay, too. On our trip to the broken bow area we liked this place so much we ate it twice! Service was great. There was only one waitress but it was slower. She was working very hard to take care of everyone. Food came pretty quickly. We liked that they served breakfast all day so the kids ate pancakes. We order a burger and country fried steak. Everyone got a different piece of pie to take back to the cabin. My favorite part is the restaurant uses meat on certain dishes (noted on menu) from a nearby meat processing company called three rivers meat company. High quality fresh meat. Just a little small diner type restaurant which is our favorite type of place to go. Very family friendly. read more
