Right off the bat, their draft beer machine wasn't working, so we stuck with water and a soda. After being seated, there was a noticeable delay before our waitress came back. She explained she was dealing with an issue on another customer's credit card, which slowed things down. We started with the fried pickles. They were very good. Crispy, well-seasoned, and cooked right, but the portion felt a little light for an appetizer. For the main, we shared the Oklahoma country fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gravy. That was the highlight. The steak had a solid crust with good flavor, and everything on the plate was done right. No complaints there. Overall, the food was strong, especially the country fried steak, but the service and the draft beer situation held it back some. If they tighten that up, it'd be a much better experience. read more

We dined here on 2/27/26. I had a blueberry lemon drop (custom, it wasn't on the menu), and my husband had a blueberry lemonade. The drinks were okay and very average - it wouldn't keep us away or bring us back! As an appetizer, we had the fried Swiss cheese. It was definitely different and interesting in comparison to your mozzarella, but it was cool to try! I wouldn't reorder. My husband had a 8oz. Sirloin with a side of corn and I had the chicken tenders with fries. The chicken tenders were delicious, but the frozen crinkle cut fries dampened the whole meal - for almost $20 for chicken tenders, I would've loved some house made or hand battered fries! The rolls with each meal were good, but could've used some butter! The steak was well cooked and the corn had good flavor! The food is like the Sonic of Hochatown......there's really no other way to put it. They do have two pool tables that are upstairs but rarely have service working the bar next to them. Ladies and gentlemen, this one is rough. Let's dive right in. The atmosphere is akin to an old barn and does have a nice saloon feel to it, but that's where the glory ends and the pain begins. First off, I want to start with the Queso Fundido. This was by far the best food we had today. The chips had a nice toasted corn taste and the queso was more than reasonable in taste, though it could have been just a little bit thinner. - 4/5 Second, my entree, for which I chose the half rack of ribs after our server Christi mentioned they had just gotten a new source (or something along those lines); more on her later. These ribs were akin to jerky and very tough to handle with little flavour. The barbecue sauce that came along with them started off decent, but had a particularly unpleasant vinegar aftertaste. These ribs are probably next to the worst I have ever had. They were completely inedible and to top it all off, my mother tried the sauce and almost puked. - 1/5 For my sides, I chose fried okra and potato salad. They came with coleslaw as a standard. Starting with the okra, I want to say that it was merely slightly below average and definitely not fresh. I found the okra to be without seasoning and quite frankly, a little bit tough. - 2/5 The potato salad was at least average. It's just lacking that extra oomph to it overall, but I was able to eat it. - 2.5/5 The coleslaw was honestly fowl and the worst coleslaw I have ever had. I was left with some kind of strange sour, bitter, and spicy taste in my mouth that left me spitting it out in a hurry. - 1/5 Due to the nature of things, I wanted to also touch on my mother's food. She ordered the hamburger steak with potato salad and french fries. The hamburger steak itself was decent and actually edible, but by this point, we were just tired and wanted to leave. We could tell that it wasn't the best grade of meat for the job. Three out of five stars. The onions helped a lot. - 3/5 The french fries were also decent, coming with what I can guess is a paprika based seasoning. They needed to be crispier, but at least they were edible. - 2.5/5 For the potato salad, see above. Next to last, we have our drinks, consisting of two (or what should have been two) Pistol Peach cocktails and a Honky Tonk ale. The cocktail was amazing and the beer was pretty good, but could have been colder. - 5/5 Lastly, our server. Christi is a fun personality and helped carry an extra star for you today, but she was not without fault. On top of forgetting my mother's drink (one of the Pistol Peach cocktails above), she had a little bit of attitude to display when we were talking about our unpleasant experience with the food, but I feel I can chalk that up to a fear that we would blame her for the food's poor quality and forgive her. Christi gets a four out of five star rating as our server today. - 4/5 Overall, Hochatown Saloon you look promising, but you're largely a disappointment. You have food that is either subpar or sickening. To top it off, the prices do not match the quality and you are very lucky to receive a two out of five star review today. Your drinks, Queso Fundido, our server, and a few items being edible carried you to this two out of five star rating. Currently, we have no plans to return, pending drastic change to food quality. Your drinks simply aren't enough when Mountain Fork Brewery and so many other places exist. read more

Our first time in Hochatown for an anniversary vacation, and, after a strenuous hike on one of the Beavers Bend State Park's trails, Tammy and I were ready for some lunch. We decided on the Hochatown Saloon. It was just before noon on a Saturday, but we were seated quickly. We were first seated outside on their screened porch area, but, I quickly noticed the fragrance of three dumpsters near the seating area. Not a great smell. I asked for an indoor seat instead, and we were taken back indoors with no problems. Our server, Aynesha W., was very friendly and attentive. We started with the John Wayne Nacho, which was delicious. You get a large platter of tortilla chips covered with cheese, smoked pulled pork, green onions, and barbecue sauce. The only negative about the nacho was there wasn't enough toppings throughout the dish. Once you got through the top layer, all you had was tortilla chips. My wife had the Southwestern Salad with grilled chicken, which was she found to be delicious and well prepared. I had the Applewood smoked bacon cheeseburger. This was a good, solid cheeseburger with Angus beef. The patty was adequately thick and somewhat larger than the bun and cooked perfectly. The applewood smoked bacon was spot on, and you get two slices. You get all the traditional condiments on the cheeseburger, as well, which blended well for a cohesive burger. The cheeseburger is large, but it's easily held in your hands to eat, and not too messy. I also had the onion rings, which were fried perfectly and the coating didn't fall off when you bit into them. As for the restaurant, it is decorated in a western saloon vibe that works well with the theme of the restaurant. The noise level was moderate, but would probably get louder as the place filled up. We enjoyed our time at this restaurant, and, except for the dumpster smells on the outside porch, it was a good experience. read more

We got our food we ate. We finished eating at that time. I went downstairs to grab some cash out out of the ATM to give her a tip in cash because I did not want her to share that with the host. Well, we're getting ready to pay. We noticed that Tanner the host brings a white couple and sit at a table right by the stairs, and right after, he brings another family which happens to be Hispanic and brings them all the way to the corner to the same place where he wanted to see us in the first place and he sits that Hispanic family in the corner right next to the trash cans. At this time, we didn't know whether it was coincidence or this was being done deliberately. On my way back up from the atm, I stopped at the host stand where Tanner the host and another hostess we're standing, at which point are very politely approached him, and I pointed out to Tanner that he made us feel extremely uncomfortable by the fact that he sat us all the way to the corner right next to the trashcan away from all the other people, and we just felt very uncomfortable by that situation and I wanted him to know and understand how that made us feel so he wouldn't do the same thing to other customers. Our goal was to pay our bill. Use the restroom and leave so as we're walking out down the stairs, I see the manager, talking to Tanner the host they both look at us and they start laughing. They happen to be standing in the same hallway where the restrooms were located at. As we're approaching the restroom, I asked him if he was a manager and asked for his name and he said he was the manager his name was Corby. At this one, I start recording with my phone as I'm describing my complaint to him to which he respond to me that I was harassing his employees telling me that I cannot use the restroom at which point he puts his hands in front of him and pushes me telling me to leave his establishment that we're not allowed to use the restroom. I asked for his manager and he said that there was none that he was the person at Randy establishment and continued to tell us to leave the establishment at which point I told him no we need to use the restroom we spent money we ate here and we have to use the restroom. And I told him you put your hands on me, which is not acceptable. He did then threatened to call the police at which I said go right ahead. Please call the police and ask he pulling his phone out. He looks over to the side and she's someone by the name of Scott. He called Scott over whom immediately asked what can I do to make this right? He took us into his private office, we explained everything that happened and he was so apologetic he tried to pay for our meal, but I told him that we had already paid for and that was not the intent, but I was not happy with the fact that he's employee insulted us, lied to us and physically assaulted us Scott was very apologetic and stated that such behavior wasn't acceptable. I told him to review his cameras. We ended up filing assault charges with the sheriff against the manager earlier today and hope that justice is done. It was st Patrick's day so we of course each ordered a beer and it was green. The food unfortunately was average. It came out hot and fresh but my fried chicken sandwich had no flavor except for the pickles, the fries were like the frozen bag from the grocery store no seasoning. My husband had a BBQ sandwich but it was smothered in sauce that Everytime he took a bite it dripped everywhere, he said he couldn't even taste the meat it was swimming and he requested pickles as a side as it came with nothing. The meat was tender and full of flavor, the bread was a bit stale and flavorless. Side of chips was just crushed ruffles, so that was kind of a bummer. Atmosphere for this place is great. The service and communication needs much improvement, especially if you're under 21. Website states if you're under 21 you have to be accompanied by a guardian over 21 for any shows. What it doesn't not say and is not posted anywhere walking into the establishment is that once the show is over the anyone under 21 must leave. It is word of mouth. The attendant at the door stated she informed the person under 21 but yet when I walked in and the attendant discussed the situation, she did NOT inform me. And of course once the issue arose, they were quick to say I was there to argue when I just wanted clarification and appreciation for a more informed way of communicating the "rules". I'll be honest the reviews I've read of this place scared me. We decided to give it a try for brunch and the only way to describe it is mid. The building itself is very cool and I'm sure it's an amazing bar at night!!! But I should've thought to myself "maybe I shouldn't have high hopes for brunch at a literal bar" The prices were excellent! Our waitress looked like she hated her life the whole time. I got an omelette with hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy and Texas toast. If you aren't a fan of Kraft American Singles for your cheese, don't tell them you want cheese on your omelette!!! When entering you might find yourself in a line waiting for the hostess stand, but once you get seated service is pretty fast. The food was alright, but the standouts we're definitely the nachos. Tortilla chips layered with cheese, shredded brisket, and topped with sour cream. I'll be thinking of this nacho rendition for a while. Catfish was decent but tbh rib dinner left a lot to be wanted.
