My exam went fine, the doctor is very friendly. I wanted to get new lenses put in my existing frames but once rude Kim found out that I wasn't buying new frames she marched off and when she came back she throw a copy of my prescription on the table and said "your free to go". this person should not be working with the public. I'm truly embarrassed for the doctor. I have been there before many years ago and it used to be great. I won't be back. The first time I came here Dr. Grant was so friendly, thorough and informative. This is my second time here for eye contact training with Katie. This training is absolutely necessary. Katie was so kind and patient with me and taught me how to care for my contacts correctly. I was definitely doing the wrong care prior to this training. I'm not sure how to explain my disappointment. I will say I went through the exam with the doctor, then sit out front with a lady to discuss the results. She started talking about getting glasses and I said I would only be interested in contacts. She said I didn't have a contact exam and that I should have told the doctor that. ?? I said he didn't ask me what I was interested in. Then I'm sitting there while she's not saying anything. This is the problem...Why am I sitting there feeling like I'm the problem. I was searching for a new eye doctor, and someone on FB mentioned Dr Grant (no relation). I saw him a few weeks ago, and picked up my new contact lenses this past Tuesday. I always felt my last contact lenses (from my prior doctor) were not the write prescription. I have been very pleased with the professionalism of both Dr Grant and the staff, and I also am very happy with my new contacts. The front office staff is incompetent and they need better training and perhaps learn what accountability means. I ordered contacts on 7/22/24. I just checked the status of my order today (August 23, 2024) - 1 MONTH later and the tracking order says it was delivered on July 29th. FedEx tracking number: 277408569987 - I called his office today and Katie said my order is waiting for me at his office. Why did I NOT receive a phone call? I have been waiting an entire month. This is just poor inexcusable lazy customer service. After reading the reviews, I am not at all surprised. This office has a history of substandard service. So I went for eye exam....dr convinced me to try progressive lenses and if they dont work come back and exchange for other lenses. I tried them for 3 days hated them. I paid $600 for frame and lenses. Picked another pair out regular distance lenses. Come to pick them up and they will not credit me back for progressive lense$350!!! No one said....oh you won't get your $ back if they dont work!!! I would have NEVER gotten them. I'm happy with my contacts. So basically they owe me over $400 back and well Chris says that's just the policy????? Really????unbelievable poor customer service. My review was deleted, so I must rewrite without naming names. Anyways, although Dr. Grant is friendly and makes you feel at ease, the staff is what caused me to find another office. There is a certain non-gentleman there that accused me of trying to get a refund for contact lens that I had bought 3 months back (a 6 month supply). I had just put on a brand new contact lens that morning and my right eye became blurry. Of course I had to assume it was the contact lens because prior to putting it on, my eye was not blurry. Fast forward, I dropped by, Dr. Grant was on lunch, so the non-gentleman was there. I was very upset at the accusation. Though there was a video camera, it does not have audio. Oh I so wish it could record the conversation because his accusation upsets me so much, it was totally uncalled for. I came back later to see Dr. Grant and upon checkup, reason for the blurriness was because the contact lens is not breathable enough for my eye, hence the infection. I placed another order for a different brand, paid for it, and found myself another office to go to. Yes, the ladies that worked at the front are not very friendly. One of them has very poor etiquette. She doesn't treat you like patients, more like a sore thumb. I believe they all know each other for a long time, because with that bad attitude at a different office, they would have been pushed out the door. Hate this office, would not recommend anyone to come here. If this office is reading this, I hope you volunteer at Opportunity Village and learn something from the Clients. Dr. Grant is Awesome! His front desk staff on the other hand needs a little work. I've been twice over the past couple yrs, and they're not very friendly over the phone (as they don't answer the phone professionally). And when you go in to check in, they seem a little robotic and not too friendly. My opinion is if you don't like your job, then look for a new one! Too bad I won't be going back because I did like the Dr. very much, but I feel if you're in the customer service field, you show immediately make your patients feel welcome and be caring (genuine) I don't think that's too much to ask. read more

We relocated to the area and selected Dr. Grants office based on a referral from a co-worker. It has been over 3 years and I have nothing negative to say. Dr. Grant is very helpful and kind, and does well at his job! Unfortunately, his staff in the front office is terrible. Last year, I had an exam, and was really excited to pick out a pair of glasses. After I picked a pair I really loved, I told them I was ready to place my order. The lady at reception asked me to try on my glasses, said she didn't like them, and told me to pick out another pair--also adding that I couldn't afford it. I picked out another pair, which she also said she disliked on me. She then picked out a pair herself, and tried to convince me to buy the pair she picked out. I told her I liked the pair I picked out best, and she huffed and sighed and just said, "Alright, but the pair I picked looked best." It made me very hesitant and nervous about receiving my new glasses. I'm so glad I made the decision I did because I love my glasses. Today, I called to get my prescription. I have a very low prescription, but can't afford a check-up or brand new pair of frames, so was hoping to get a pair of drugstore reading glasses to hold me over until I could. I called the office, and when I asked for my prescription, the lady on the other end told me my prescription was expired. I just replied that it was okay, I still wanted it anyway. She then asked me, "Well, why?" I told her I just wanted to have it on hand. She replied, "You can't do anything with it since it's expired. You won't be able to order anything, you know." I told her that I knew, I still wanted to know my prescription. She sighed and put me on hold to grab my paperwork. I did eventually get my prescription, but it should not have been such a hassle. I have just had my 4th eye exam with Dr Grant and his staff. A little worried about going from glasses to contacts. After my exam the girls reassured me I could make that transition with no problem, but if I like I could attend a 15 minute refresher coarse that was available also. They gave me my trails etc and said try them give us a call for a followup appointment and if I didn't like or changed your mind they would be happy to help me pick out new lenses as they have done in the past. Dr. Grant is a nice guy and very friendly. In fact, he's a little too friendly when he decides to gab about his family, kids. Maybe he thinks it's good bedside manner, but I think it's unprofessional and wastes time on more important patient visit stuff. The last visit he talked so much about his son that he forgot to dilate my eyes for my yearly exam. I do believe that's necessary. He then said he would show me the VSP plan flyer but again forgot to do that. The front office staff never gave me any problems, but they're not the friendliest bunch. No smiles when you walk in, which is too bad. The guy that fits your glasses is a nice and professional guy, but a bit on the cold side because he doesn't like to say much. I went to Dr. Grant's office yesterday for the first time. Dr. Grant is very knowledgable and very nice. We had a good chat while he examined my eyes. I had no problem with the ladies at the front, on the contrary I found them pleasant and helpful. The lady assisting me with finding frames was also very helpful. She gave her opinion about what looked good and didn't look good. She did not try to up sell me, just told me what she liked on me and didn't like. I was happy to have a second opinion. They have a larger selection of frames than other doctor offices I've been to. I was not planning to buy glasses there but I found a couple I liked and ended up buying them. I got more (Flexon frames and Crizal lenses) and paid less than the last time I bought glasses at one of the major glasses stores. I was not happy with the doctor I had seen previously and so I hadn't been in 5 years, but I will return to Dr. Grant. It's also much nearer home. read more

I have been Dr. Grant's patient for several years now and I have been very satisfied with the services I received there. Dr Grant is great and you can feel that he cares that you see really better. I feel that he is down to earth and I can talk over things and not feel intimidated. I needed prescription glasses for my weekend bicycle rides and could not decide on which sport frame to go for. I know I always am undecided but Ken didn't take long to help me narrow down my search and measured and adjusted them to fit snuggly on my face which I like because the wind can't blow this pair away easily now! There Dr. Steven Grant, My name is Marco I have tell you about the customer service I was given yesterday, 11/10/2017 as you probably know I have been waiting for my sunglasses for almost two months. Now you have two older ladies that work for you, I don't know there names, but the shorter of the two kept telling each time I called about my sunglasses that she would call me back and give me more information about what is going on. I never received a call back. Now I called on November 7th at 611 am and I left a voicemail to your office and yes I was not happy because I was tired of being told that I was going to receive a call back and I NEVER did... and I actually had an argument about this twice, the first time it was over the phone with one of the older ladies,, she kept telling me that she called I and I have been waiting to speak to her all day and I had to tell her that she never called...I also called on October 31st at 1229pm and I was told that my sunglasses were not ready.... so yesterday I called at 930 am about my sunglasses I was told that my sunglasses were ready so I pass by.. now I was just going to pick up my sunglasses and leave but your employee ( the taller old lady) says to me very rudely, your glasses were ready since October 31st, and that they did call my number.. so I told her I was just going to get my glasses and leave but since you opened the conversation, I will tell you that nobody called me, she was actually arguing with me the Customer that just spent a lot of money in your office getting my whole family glasses... ... so I showed them my call history nobody called yes they lied... and here is another lie,,, she told me my glasses were ready on October 31st but I called that same day at 1229 and I was told that my glasses WERE NOT READY!!!! So yes those 2 ladies were lying...... and why would you argue with the customer in front of everybody, you would think that you would just give me my sunglasses and let me leave but no the taller lady wanted to argue with me so we did..... It is a very sad circumstance, that you cant see a good Dr. because you cant get passed the front. We all have appts scheduled in October(to give them another shot). While Dr. Grant is great, his staff is rude. It's not difficult to be nice to people especially when people are nice to you. Whether I call to check the status of my children's glasses or like just now when I stopped by to pick them up, they are uncaring. I requested a copy of their prescriptions and the gentleman's response was "It's going to be awhile". It's the way he said it that rubbed me the wrong way. He made me feel like it was such an inconvenience. Just be nice! It's not that difficult. I've been seeing Dr. Grant for about 15 years now, just recently switching to a new doctor. Both my parents and my brother have always gone to Doctor grant as well. After so many years of loyal patronage to this business, my entire family finally had to move to a different practice after Dr. Grant and my dad got into a disagreement. My Dad had an appointment at 9:30 and promptly arrived on time. Apparently the appointment was supposed to be at 8:30 and not 9:30. Dr. Grant started berating my dad because due to my dad's "tardiness", Dr. Grant missed his daughter's soccer game. My dad had no idea the appointment was supposed to be at 8:30 instead of 9:30 and that was a scheduling error on his (Dr. Grants) receptionist's part, but Dr. Grant took it as a personal slight and lashed out at my dad for it. Completely unprofessional. Quite frankly, Dr. Grant has always been super friendly and very nice every time I've seen him, so this was quite out of character for him but nonetheless inexcusable. His otherwise friendly demeanor was really the only reason we ever stuck around because his receptionists are incredibly rude and always have been. They have a permanent stank look on their face and have never been nice. The other gentleman that works there is a little strange, but friendly. Everything that had happened is not the reason why i am writing this review. I'm writing this review because upon seeing my new eye doctor, I realized how much of a sham Dr. Grant really is. My new doctor performed several tests on me that i hadn't had completed SINCE i had my very first appointment with Dr. Grant almost 15 years ago! The doctor was shocked that I hadn't had these routine tests done in so long, because they are SUPPOSED to be done EVERY YEAR! I'm not talking about the "can you read these set of letters" tests, i'm talking about the depth perception test, the glaucoma test (puff in the eye), eye sight reaction test, color bind test. the list goes in. In addition, i haven't had my eyes dilated in the same amount of time. According to my new doctor, i'm supposed to have that done every year as well. It infuriates me to think that this man has been taking my insurance money and co-pays for exams he hasn't been fully completing. Not to mention, my prescription is completely different with the new doctor than it was with Dr. Grant. In short- DO NOT COME HERE. Dr, Grant;s office is very close to my home so I chose the office for the convenience. I did read the reviews about the women at the front desk being rude but they seemed nice enough. One of them did make a remark about my last name being weird. She said, "It is not your fault you have that last name, you married into it". I was a bit perplexed by the comment. After being taken back, Dr. Grant seemed very friendly and funny at first. He began making negative comments about his wife stating it was easier to stay married than get divorced. I didn't know why he was telling me this. He checked my eyes quickly, told me I need new glasses.He continued to make negative comments about his wife that started making me feel uncomfortable. I mentioned that my husband was a nurse and he asked me, "Does he look good in a skirt?". I told him that he wore scrubs and he said, "Oh he must look like a real doctor.". Why would he make such a sexist remark? So inappropriate. After I got my contacts, I tried them on and they were completely blurry. I wore them for three days and got headaches. I went back for a follow up and waited 20 minutes to see him again. When I showed up, he wasn't there, he was still at lunch the front ladies informed me. At this point, I knew I did not want him as my doctor because of the comments he made at our first appointment. I just wanted to get my contacts and move on. I had already paid $70 for a copay and contact fitting fee and given them my insurance. When he called me back, I told him I could not see and that my vision was blurry with the contacts. He told me it was because of my age. (I am 40). I asked him to change the script back to what my prescription was before, he did and I could see again when he changed it back. He told me he would do what made me happy because I was like his wife..... He said, "I would nag and nag until he did what I wanted". Again, more inappropriate comments about his wife? And so inappropriate to compare his patient to her? At this point, I felt so uncomfortable I just wanted to get out of there. After my 4th visit there, I told the woman at the front that I was uncomfortable with all the comments Dr. Grant made. She apologized for his behavior and I switched to Optic Gallery. I have been going to Dr. Grant for YEARS. I love his humor and how he welcomes me. However I hate the front office staff because they always seem to be grumpy. There are two older females who are SUPER rude: one who I always see in the glasses area with blond hair and the one at the very front desk with short hair. Next time I will be going to another doctor since I just cant deal with getting attitude every single time I am there. If they dont like working there they should quit and find a job they do like! It's like each time I go they always try picking a fight with me but this time was the last straw. They only gave me my prescription for my contacts when I always get both my glasses and my contacts. I went to Dr. Grant's office last week for my annual exam I was treated ever so politely and professionally by a woman at the front desk , I Think her name was Chris. From the moment I walked into the door I was treated with a smile and all my questions were answered regarding my insurance and my benefits. Then I was taken back to see Dr. Grant and had a great exam and afterwords I was given the opportunity to look at several different types of glasses and was very impressed with their selection and styles..
