I tend to write reviews mostly for restaurants, but after my experience at the Optic Gallery, I felt compelled to write a review. The staff was friendly and guided me patiently through the paperwork and process. What really stood out to me, however, was the the young optometrist Dr. Justin Hart. I have been to many eye doctors and none have ever taken the time to really examine and address all of the concerns I had with my vision, let alone explain them to me. I never once felt rushed, nor made to feel like an eye hypochondriac. At the end of the exam, I was given several options that would provide long term improvements to my vision and reduction in eye strain. All of the staff came across as extremely patient and the level of care I received was more than I would have ever expected. The bar has been raised. read more

I arrived in intense pain and, without a regular eye doctor, found Optic Gallery on Yelp. They were able to get me in the same day, and I am so grateful they did. The staff greeted me warmly and handled intake efficiently. The shop is immaculate and extremely well organized -- spotless is an understatement. After a short wait the doctor came in smiling, introduced herself, and reviewed my history and symptoms before beginning the exam. She explained every step clearly and compassionately, even apologizing before using a bright light in my painful eyes. Dr. Alaina Lavine went above and beyond. Her calm confidence and clear explanations immediately eased my fear, and her gentle bedside manner made a painful situation bearable. I am deeply thankful for the time she took to listen, the care she showed while diagnosing bilateral corneal ulcers, and the thorough treatment plan she prescribed. Her follow-up scheduling and genuine concern for my recovery reassured me that I was in the best hands. I can't express enough gratitude for her expertise and kindness. She prescribed medicated drops and scheduled a follow-up for Monday (I was seen on a Friday). The combination of Dr. Lavine's exceptional care and the attentive team convinced me I've found my new eye doctor. I'll be getting my eye exam, contacts, and glasses here because the entire staff was that caring and professional. I've been coming to this eye doctor for 4 years or so. I had an eye appt coming up in July, so I call July 1st to reschedule a week or more ahead of the appt, knowing I would not be able to make it. I should note they had not bothered to call me with a reminder of the appt. But I keep track of all my appts months ahead in 2+ calendars. When I called, they were able to reschedule me for August 4th. When I arrive to my appointment today, they tell me they cancelled my appt because I didn't confirm when they called. I search my voicemail, and I have ONE call from July 19th saying they would cancel my appt if I don't call to confirm within 24 hrs. I have never heard of such a process. I make routine dental and primary doctor appts months ahead, and they call to remind me at least a week or a few days prior. They never threaten to cancel if I don't double triple confirm the appt I just made 3 weeks ahead. Why would I need to confirm an appt I just made 18 days ago? Or confirm an appt coming up 16 days ahead? And why wouldn't I receive an email or a second call? I would rather pay the $50 fee they also warn you about if you don't cancel within 24 hrs of your appt time. That's why there is a fee. I should be able to keep my appt and I should pay a fee if I don't cancel within an appropriate timeframe. The office shouldn't cancel an appt for me just because I didn't answer my phone on an arbitrary day far away from my actual appt, and too close to the day I called to make said appt. When I saw the 7/19 voicemail, I imagined it was that--- a reminder, not a threat of cancellation. It's a shame because the doctors I've seen in this office are great! But the appointment system at this office assumes I have time to chat on the phone every week to reassure them I'll be there 3 weeks ahead. When I arrived to check-in for my appointment, they immediately transferred me to the girl on the right side of the desk who seemed to be the one to handle the angry patients whose appts get canceled for no reason. She helped me update my glasses frames and took the time to compare my two insurance plans to find the most cost-effective option for me. That level of care and transparency really made a difference. Dr. Alaina Lavine is absolutely trustworthy. She conducted a thorough and thoughtful eye exam, carefully considering my eye condition as well as how I use my vision in different environments and for different purposes. I never felt rushed, and she explained everything clearly and patiently. A big thank you as well to Jenna for making the check-in process smooth and welcoming, and to Michelle for assisting with the testing -- both were friendly, professional, and attentive. I first came to this location about three years ago. The glasses are great quality and have lasted me long time. They've helped me over the years with TLC of my glasses. I needed to update my prescription so I scheduled appointment for today. The staff is professional. I felt well cared for during the whole process from the scheduling of appointment, reminders, checking-in, eye exams with knowledgable technicians, Doctor review of results, comparing frames/lenses with an expert, all the way until walking out of the store. Doctor Tiffany Nguyen answered everything I asked about my tests results and the changes in my prescription. Kate, the frames/lenses expert is knowledgable and explains things well. This is not been a good experience for purchasing frames having the correct lenses and fit and staff issues. Disappointing. multiple visits and received a glasses case with somebody else's name on it. I think I should receive a new one considering I purchased Coach and Tiffany. Ethan was fantastic, detail oriented, and super helpful. I originally came in for an insurance approved eyeglasses & contact exam. Both of which should have been a $10 co-pay each. When I arrived, the receptionist confidently misquoted me over $100 for a contact exam twice after being assured both exams would be covered & doubled down when I voiced concern rather than double check with someone. After denying the contact exam and completing my eye exam, Ethan reviewed my insurance and was able to confirm the $10 co-pay and get me booked in for the next day. Ultimately, a frustrating and time consuming first visit, but without Ethan's attention to detail and knowledge, this would have been a 1-star experience and I would've not visited this location again. Talk about a great experience when getting your eye exam! The staff is very professional and well organized. I provided my insurance information, filled out my medical history online and was able to get my eyes throughly examined. They walk you through every step of the exam, why they are doing it and make sure you are comfortable. Just about everyone I have interacted have been personable and knowledgeable. They go over your options of eye exams and the cost. How much anything will be is upfront and on a menu. For example, getting your eyes displayed is cheaper than the eye graph thing, but you can't drive home yourself if you opt for that route. If you have a ride or can call for one, great. I opted for the non dropper dilating exam because I like to look at the fun farm picture and space ship looking game when they test your eyes. It's almost like a game, but they can find out so much about your eye health and even some underlying health issues (blood pressure , diabetes, etc.) just based off your eyes! I've been here for two years now and the first provider was a female (I think it was Dr.Lavine) who was fantastic. My eyes had a horrible reaction to lash extension glue and I had to get my eyes examined. The second doctor I had was a male and he was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with my changing eye health. Screen time has taken a toll on my eyes, so make sure your eye health is a priority. Get your eyes examined. Having to get glasses for the first time in my adult life, they made the experience lovely. Clarissa helped me the second time around and was very patient. I tried on about a dozen or more frames and finally found a pair I like and was actually very light. It was Charmant. A brand based out of Japan who specializes in Titanium frames and medical parts, which makes sense because people with metal allergies like myself won't have a reaction to titanium. The frames are super light and I added anti glare on them. I've had the Blu light blocking tint on before, but did not like the slight yellowing tone it gave, so I'm going to try it without this time. The frame options are on the higher end side, so be prepared for the cost to add up as you add the frames, add ons, tints, and material type. My experience has been so great though so I don't mind the cost. read more

Picked up my new glasses & prescription sunglasses yesterday. I have been coming here about 5 years now. But only 3 years ago did I start having fun choosing my glasses, thanks to Liv (Olivia)! Love that as I get older, I'm investing in a variety of eyewear to make it more entertaining to need glasses! When I was younger, I dreaded shopping for glasses. The staff member contacted my wife as that was the number displayed on the Lock Screen. I have recently moved from San Diego and had been hesitant to start looking for an optometrist. This location was just down the street and seemed to have great reviews and I soon learned why. I called in to make an appointment and spoke to Olivia who was extremely friendly and welcoming right off the bat. We both looked into our schedules and we're able to find something not too far off from my day of calling in. When I showed up to my appointment, I was lucky enough to be welcomed by Olivia again. She was extremely knowledgeable and understanding of what I was interested in and made sure I understood what my insurance would handle and what would be out of pocket. Dr Lavine took care of me and she was amazing. She was quickly able to locate where my new prescription/lenses needed to be and made it enjoyable as we talked about moving here to Nevada. Once completed, I walked out and I was amazed (but not surprised) Olivia had already picked out multiple frames that suit/complement me. Within 5 minutes, I had already fallen in love with the Gucci frames Olivia had picked out for me. This turned out to be the most enjoyable, painless, and the quickest experience I have ever had. Went into today to look for some Men's eye frames. Was greeted by two young women sitting. When I asked where are the men's frames located. I was told they are mixed in all the cases. Really? Who does that? As I was looking through all the frames I noticed every case is locked. It's not like they just opened and hadn't time yet to unlock the cases. Is the crime that bad at the district? So I continue looking and not one time that the three employees there asked do you need a case unlocked to try a frame? No they continued doing what they were doing. I'm not going to have to ask every time I want to try a frame to have a case unlocked. This is such a tacky way to run a business. I patronize the district quite frequently. And I find this business practice a big turn off. read more

Our son was nearly blind in one eye by the time we realized he needed glasses. We have been working with an Ophthalmologist (not affiliated with Optic Gallery) to correct his vision. The ophthalmologist explained that after 9 years old, it is really hard to correct one's vision so it was imperative that we work diligently with glasses, patching and special eye drops. I had ordered several glasses from Optic Gallery and generally had a pleasant experience up until October of 24 when I took in a new RX, but this time asked to use existing lenses since they were newer. It took us 2 months to figure out (through 2 additional visits with the ophthalmologist. One I just took his glasses in and the second took him out of school) that our son's glasses were made incorrectly. We dropped the glasses off to optic gallery for a rush order to correct the RX in December. They came back in January, but the lab put in the wrong RX AGAIN. They were sent out again! We got them back late January with the correct RX. Our son's eyes lost so much progress in that time. He went from 20/20 vision with his glasses, plus no longer had to patch or use painful eyedrops, back to 20/40 vision with glasses, plus we had to go back to painful nightly eyedrops to quickly try to get his vision back to where it was before the mistakes. It has taken 6 months to get him back to 20/20 vision WITH glasses while still having to give him nightly drops which dilate his good eye to help make his weak eye work harder. To say I'm upset is an understatement. If he were to lose vision in his good eye, he would essentially be blind. He will be 9 in June. We will no longer use any optic gallery. Not only because of the mistake, but the lack or care, compassion or accountability by the "lab manager" at this optic gallery. read more

Going to get a check up is never exciting but going the Optic Gallery is great. Getting your eyes checked is important as I learned today from Dr. Levine. She is great at explaining things and addressing any of your concerns. She is very nice and seems to love her job and help people. Her staff is also amazing. Very nice and friendly. They are willing to help where they can. A special shoutout to the girl who did the scans on our eyes and other testing. She is awesome! Very friendly personality and really good with kids. I enjoyed my visit to the optic gallery. They also have a nice selection of glasses that you can purchase if you need new frames. My personal favorite is the Oakleys. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone go needs to get there eyes checked. read more

Optic gallery is amazing! They not only have a great selection of frames but Dr. Levine is the best eye dr I have ever had. Jennifer helped me with so much patience and care, it was like having a friend help me shop for glasses! Even when their lab ( totally not under their control) messed up my glasses and took longer to ship out another pair; they were on it! They worked so hard to get the lab to do their part and they were so understanding. They even managed to get me a second pair of lenses for another frame due to the inconvenience! This will be my second year going to Optic Gallery at the District and seeing Dr. Valdez and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I tend to get a little overwhelmed when I visit the optometrist, but Dr. Valdez made it such a comforting and relaxed experience for my mother and I, she was very eloquent and super informative when explaining things. She listened well to our concerns and needs and overall treated us with so much care. As for the staff, Joana helped me so much when it came to picking out my new frames(which could be such a daunting and overwhelming experience) and she wrote down every detail when it came to pricing and was just such a bright spirit, with her kind demeanor. My mother was helped by Ashley who is AMAZING! She was not only kind, but super patient with my mom and I really appreciated that, given that my mother barely spoke English. I went to the Optic Gallery a few days ahead of my scheduled appointment to look at frames, and to have my current frames tightened. The experience was great.. Olivia was my Optician. She was beyond helpful and honest with assisting me in picking out both my daily frames as well as my sunglass frames. Her knowledge of the product helped me narrow down what frames would look the best and would fit my life style. So now when I head to my appointment, everything is picked out and all I have to deal with is my exam. Really a 3 1/2 stars but what the heck, I just needed an annual general eye exam and they provided me with prompt, friendly, thorough service so I rounded it up to 4 stars. Dr. Levine was professional as well as the assistants there. Everything ran smoothly and on time. I was in and out of there in less than an hour; and that was including frame selection. Not sure if the prices for frames varies between locations, but I was in for a sticker shock! My place of employment provides above average vision insurance through VSP but it still knocked my total bill from $750+ to $345 and that's including eye exam, lenses, frames and other misc they tacked on like non-glare. Yikes. I tried to go with a non-brand, generic frames but most of them didn't look right on my face shape and/or it was only the basic thin metal frames. Even then, those had a starting price of $250. I was told my glasses are ready within 7-10 business days. May write an update/edit this review once the glasses are in my possession. So to sum it up: eye exam=quick, on time, professional service. Frame selection=expensive! Be prepare to shell out some $$$. read more

These guys are great! Both my husband and I got our eye exams and glasses here and were amazed at the customer service and selection. I had a small issue with my glasses being too narrow on the bridge of my nose and they did everything to ensure my experience and comfort was paramount. I had a unique opportunity to work with Liv, Joanna, and Jen. Each was equally helpful and I always left feeling like I had the cutest frames on. For me having their encouragement and honesty about how each frame I tried on made me feel so much more confident. My husband also had a great experience as well and commented on the professionalism in the office. The Dr spoke to me like a person and addressed my questions and concerns with care and time. I came in extremely tired from being up at 2 am from the previous night, lowkey agitated because I woke up early for a doctor's appointment that canceled on me; so overall I'd say I was in some pretty off putting spirits. Yet, from the moment I came in, everyone was cordial, cheerful, and it was an extremely comfortable environment to be in. Dr. Alaina Lavine is knowledgeable, really knows her craft; you can tell by the way she answers questions to make it more palatable for me the listener. She's taken care of me, and she really practices with your best interest in mind. All of the Opticians were kind and knowledgeable as well, I had the pleasure of being helped by Optician Olivia. She listened to my needs and made fantastic effort to establish personal interest without the conversations being awkward or uncomfortable. I've been visiting this location for years but have never written a review. The staff is consistent and always friendly. I was surprised at how comfortable it was to visit so soon after "reopening" from COVID-19. To start, it's easy to schedule an appointment and all paperwork is filled out online ahead of your appointment. They reassured that equipment was wiped down, and in many cases, wiped down right in front of me. I know these are uncertain times, but seeing a business operate with care for our safety is essential. I felt completely safe. Excellent experience! I was in and out in less than hour, between my exam and getting glasses. Easiest eye appointment I've ever had. Casey was a great help in selecting glasses and was no pressure, she gave me options for my budget and went over all options. I typically never buy glasses at the eye doctor because of the pressure and over charge that normally comes with it. This was nothing like that. Very relaxing experience. Dr. Lavine was great as well, I went into depth and asked her every question that I've always been too nervous to ask other doctors. 10/10 recommend to anyone seeking a new eye doctor read more

This place is great... I've been going here for a few years now and I never have a bad experience. Dr. Valdes really seems to care about my sight and never seems rushed. The staff is always polite and it never seems like they are just trying to shove product down my throat. They have a great selection of glasses and if there is ever an issue they solve it right away without any questions... Jennifer, one of the girls in the office, is always eager to help as well as always has a smile on her face... Even with a mask on, you can still see her smile. I'm not happy with this place. I also don't like the fact they bribe customers into writing a 5 star review for the purpose of their "check-in offer." This practice is not honest and is a way of collecting reviews that may not accurately describe the persons true experience. On to my experience. While my eyes were dilating, I got passed on from Dr Valdez to one of her staff members for a sales pitch. I also found out that the glasses I spent over $400 on a year ago with Olivia "helping" me were made with plastic lenses, not the polycarbonate ones I had requested. Inexcusable. Then she tells me to "upgrade" to polycarbonate, I would have to pay all of the fees for new lenses on my glasses. This is an absolute joke. While I understand the charge for polycarbonate, which I was supposed to have initially, if the optometrist makes an error, they should not be charging the customer additional fees for brand new lenses. They should eat the cost due to their error. I honestly am disgusted with Optic Gallery. I have been with them around 5 years and have thought many times about switching to another office. This confirms that. I do not recommend this practice, nor the doctors. All they try to do is sell, sell, sell. It is very apparent they don't care about the genuine needs of each customer. Thus, I recommend you stay away and find alternative company to work with. Many of the reviews on here are 5 stars because they solicit those reviews. Keep this in mind, and go elsewhere. read more
