Parents were in town from Los Angeles and everyone loved their food and the experience. Ambiance- Very pretty restaurant Service- Excellent from start to finish Food- French onion soup was the best I have ever had, hands down. I had the 7oz Filet with a 4oz lobster tail- Came with a loaded backed potato- excellent- I ordered the sautéed spinach and mushrooms for the table. Spinach was good. Mushrooms were out of this world. Parents had the 16oz Ribeye- they loved it. Wife had the seared Ahi- Beautiful quality and excellent. Kids had the Cheeseburger and Fried shrimp. They really enjoyed both which is saying a lot since both are super picky eaters. Fantastic experience tonight at Steve Fields. Great bartender, and we enjoyed the happy hour discount before our 630pm reservation. The coconut shrimp are not to be missed. I noticed that they had closed permanently during covid. I was sad about that.. and my mother had passed away during that time too. So it was especially sad for me. But then a couple of months ago I told my boyfriend about Steve Fields and my experiences there..all great.. a few days later..my boyfriend told me that he saw the New Steve Fields restaurant that had opened across the street. I was so excited and I Googled it to make sure..and yes! He took me there for my Birthday! Steve..the owner had found out it was my Birthday and personally brought me a slice of cake and introduced himself..So nice. Dinner was Amazingly delicious too. I have breast cancer & currently halfway through a rigorous chemotherapy regimen. At 3pm I quickly walked in to pick up a gift certificate at the bar for Father's Day. I told the four hostesses upon entering exactly what I was doing. One of the hostesses very snootily said, "Yes, however you are required to remove your hat." I replied, "I am a cancer patient and do not feel comfortable doing so." As I embarrassingly walked past them to pay for the gift certificate, she and the other hostesses snickered at me. Hit or miss for me. We dined in February and the experience was 5 star magic. The food, service and ambiance were excellent. We dined a few days ago and the food, service and ambiance were average, or a bit below for this price point. Food and service will vary. At our last visit, the waiter was awkward. The first time he approached the table he poured some water and then just stared at us in silence till I ordered a drink. The prime rib in February was "melt in your mouth". A few days ago it was average for this price point. The ambiance a few days ago really dragged down my experience. Fields has a "Business Casual" dress code but doesn't enforce it. We were seated between a table with people in raggedy jeans and a college T shirt and another with the men in shorts and sandals. This isn't what I want to see when I'm paying $100 per head for dinner. I realize no restaurant wants to turn away business, even if it's dressed like a homeless person dragged through a thrift shop, but that's not what I'm paying to see. read more

This was likely the best meal I've had in DFW. I got the peppercorn filet and my husband got the skirt steak with the chimichurri sauce. Both were outstanding! We started with Caesar salads and those were very good as well. The bread they serve is to die for as it's served with an oil that is infused with garlic and Serrano peppers. So good! Dinner felt like we were sitting at the fringe/misfit/acquaintance table at a terrible wedding reception in a cheap hotel with mediocre food. We made a reservation for 5, weeks in advance yet, when we arrived, instead of the main dining area, we were seated in a back room with folding walls that I'm guessing is used for private parties. The space had minimal, inexpensive decor with offensively bright lights, depressing blank white walls, and no speakers/music. If we tried, we could faintly hear the music from the main dining room and I half expected to look over my shoulder and see the bride and her father slow dancing to "Butterfly Kisses". The chairs were similar to those you'd find at Sunday school in church and by the end of the night waiters were coming in to roll silverware. The electricity went out in the middle of dinner which may explain why the food was terribly overcooked. The "medium" steaks were all well done and the sides were cold and soggy. Granted, the power outage is out of the restaurants control but there was no acknowledgment or apology for the inconvenience. At minimum, I'd expect a manager/someone check with the tables that the food came out as expected given the disruption in the kitchen. Hindsight - we should have seen the writing on the walls, paid for our drinks and appetizers and left. One positive was the service. We had a couple gentlemen attend our table and both were delightful. In summary - Dallas/Plano/Frisco is FLUSH with fine dining. I'd recommend skipping this one. read more

I wanted to let you know that I am highly disappointed to know when I called today that my unused gift card of $150 bought before the original Steve Fields restaurant closed would not be honored by the same people that run the current establishment. Even though I offered to produce the aforementioned gift card as proof, it was categorically rejected in citing what seemed to be an oft-stated position that Steve Fields would not allow me to use it. Needless to say, I would not be patronizing Steve Fields moving forward. While the food and atmosphere was great under the original format and restaurant, the policy not to honor gift cards when it is the restaurant is under the same management was disheartening. Disappointing to say the least. Stopped in for a drink shortly after opening and was pretty much ignored for the first few minutes. There were maybe 4 people in the bar. There were two bartenders on duty - one female and one male. Neither looked to be particularly busy with normal startup chores. The female was engrossed with conversation with a gal at the far end of the bar for several minutes. She never once made eye contact nor acknowledged me having seated myself in the empty center of the bar. The male likewise didn't acknowledge me at all until later. I am not the least bit looking for an engrossing bar experience. I am not looking for a social experience with bartenders or patrons nor fawning service. But I do expect a modicum of hospitality orientation. The female bartender finally came over to me and said "Do you know what you want?" Perfunctorily with no smile. No hospitality whatsoever. She mechanically delivered my drink (martini) pouring it mostly on her side of the bar and left it there on the napkin. I guess sliding it toward me was too much effort. She shortly thereafter brought me a water to which I smiled and said thank you, She ignored me. She turned and walked back to her conversation at the end of the bar, I refuse to go on as it's not worth it. I asked the male bartender for a tab after about 25 minutes and he dawdled and/or forgot. I left a $20 bill on the bar for a martini and walked out. I'd suggest avoiding this place, It's nothing like the old Steve Fields where the bar staff had an appreciation for the hospitality business. read more

years ago I used to come to Steve Fields, sit on the bar, order red wine with a side of a bone-in Ribeye and listen to the piano music. Today my wife and I took the kids for dinner at the new location, in our family we have all sort of dietary restrictions: Celiac, vegetarian carnivores and kids, amazingly, each one of us could find his favorite at the menu, we ordered the central cut fillet, asian veggie dish, tuna, salads, kids burger etc... and the food quality and quantity were exceptional and this of course with a great bottle of wine by Orin Swift, we finished with great gluten free desert and carrot cake. summarizing this long review, the place is great, wonderful atmosphere, high quality food and fair prices compare with other Prime steakhouses in the area, try it and you won't get disappointed read more

We were very excited to dine at the new Steve Fields this past Saturday evening, as we invited our best friends to join us. It is a beautiful restaurant! However , our Server, Casey was not on the level of what Steve Fields represents in the DFW fine dining landscape. I don't know who hired this young man or trained him! He was disconnected, dismissive, absent from our service, and acted like he was doing us a favor! I had to literally get up twice for water! Water!!!! I get better service at Dennys! He knew nothing about the wine, did not know what the sorbet flavor was, and at the end of the service , when I ordered a Cappuccino, I never got it! Casey is clueless!!!! The food was good , as we had the strip and the Halibut. Sides were fine as well. But the aweful taste that Casey's bad service left in our mouths , would probably prevent us from ever coming back, when there are world class steakhouses in DFW like, KNIFE, FLEMINGS, and PAPPAS BROS.that truly appreciate your business... My husband and I went last night for dinner and both restaurant and bar were very busy! I loved the food, but did have some thoughts on the decor- I thought it was a bit cold. There are large kind of onyx-looking ceiling lights, which were pretty, but they had very white light bulbs behind them and it gave the restaurant have kind of a greenish feel. The restaurant is a sort of gray palette, and I think changing out the bulbs in those fixtures to warmer lightbulbs, and also the ones in the large glass wine fridge would make the restaurant feel cozier. They also had no flowers or candles on the tables. Personal preference, maybe, but I think restaurants of this caliber should have those two things on the tables. Now thoughts on our food- Wow was our meal fabulous!! The bread comes with a Serrano oil that was so different and very addictive, but those who don't like spicy might not enjoy it like we did. We started with the crab cake, which was really delicious. Not dry, well-seasoned, and with a delicious remoulade (next time I will ask for extra. They only did a little drizzle on plate) My husband had the strip steak, which he loved, but he regretted getting the 3 large steak fries instead of the loaded potato that I chose. My blue cheese stuffed filet was really unbelievable. I'd have a tough time straying from that choice on future visits!! It had kind of a blue cheese breaded topping, but also appeared to have been stuffed with blue cheese, per its' name. It didn't have a strong blue cheese taste- the whole effect was perfect. Don't judge- we ordered the chocolate cake even after that big meal. OMG. If you love chocolate cake you have to try this!! We figured we'd have a bite but take most of it home (especially because it is a huge piece), but we didn't bring home nearly as much as we should have. The wife and I visited on December 16th. While the service and food was up to their usual and expected top flight standards, I did experience a problem. I had the Blue Crab and Corn Chowder as an entree which at first pass seemed a bit off. Both the wife and I had the prime rib ( DELICIOUS) Upon returning home I became violently ill and spent the night in the bathroom. The wife experienced no adverse reactions. Before making the reservation, we spoke with the manager as one of the guests is vegan, and we were assured that they would be able to accommodate her. My guest called there today to see what the options might be, was treated rudely, and told they didn't have the "bandwidth" to accommodate her other than for a single course. I tried to call and was told a manager wasn't available and might be able to get back to me tomorrow. This is NOT the level of service I expect from a good steak house. Was asked not to come back again, after 14 years of patronage...because I had the audacity to ask what the average pour is per drink. Ordered a Capt Morgan & coke for $9 in a 6 oz glass, received a coke with little Capt Morgan...had 2nd bartender make the same drink & it was perfect, told 1st bartender of my findings & she got in my face and said "I don't care" ask for a Manager told him what happened & he said he would take care of my 1st drink & would have a talk with the bartender. Bartender never asked if we would like a menu or an appetizer... nothing!!! We were ignored for over an hour. At the end of the night the manager brought my tab (with no discount I might add) and said we are not welcome there anymore, 'cause I insulted his bartender. People on either side of us at the bar were flabbergasted, and said but why? You did nothing wrong...not the 1st time I have sat at the bar & had terrible service...won't be back, but fortunately, there are over 65 other bars & restaraunts in North Dallas to give my hard earned money to, & not be insulted in the process. The new place is nice yet not as cozy as the previous location! The happy hour menu was not as good either. We used to go there to meet friends or co workers for drinks and appetizers. We waited so long for the new location then had multiple illnesses but we finally made it and it sure was worth it. I always felt the old place was the best steakhouse in DFW and a comparative bargain and the new place is a spiffed up version and as good as ever. Steaks were as great as ever with the rare courtesy of servers waiting until you cut into just to make sure it was cooked properly. Sides all excellent, good stiff cocktails and an excellent wine list. Service was very professional although the massive desserts should come with a warning that one will feed four. The décor is modern and stylish but the noise level makes conversation somewhat difficult. I found the prices quite reasonable for a top line steakhouse in this day and age.
