We came here while we were doing a "stay-ca" downtown Halloween weekend. It was a short 3 minute walk from our hotel so the location was extremely convenient. There was no wait around 2pm, and the ambiance was pretty slick. We got sat in the bar section which still felt very dining-esque which is nice. My husband went for the biscuits and gravy - said the gravy was delicious, but his poached egg was a bit over cooked so it didn't have the silky consistency he was expecting. I got the grilled shrimp and grits (might I add something I don't usually lean towards) and it was fantastic. The arugula had a hint of vinaigrette to balance out the weight of the grits. I thought it was delicious and definitely recommend it. I also had the Bloody Mary (necessary after a long weekend ) and it had JUST the right amount of spicy ness to help get me through the rest of the afternoon. read more

My friend and I had just arrived from SoCal, tired and hungry, hadn't eaten much all day. This just happened to be the first restaurant we walked into. What a pleasant surprise! As we walked into the restaurant and saw the gorgeous, sophisticated decor and lighting, we knew it looked like our type of place to have dinner. Our server, Armando, was so friendly and welcoming. He was so kind to us! Every other staff member that we encountered were also all very kind and hospitable. The warm and friendly people working here are really what set the tone to have an enjoyable experience, so thank you for being so nice! For appetizers, we ordered the crab hush puppies and the biscuits with whipped honey butter. I can't describe how perfect the biscuits were-- absolutely hands down the best biscuits I've ever had! Perfect texture and just the right amount of salt. Then that whipped honey butter really set it off!! I craved these the rest of the weekend, and I can see myself flying in to Austin in the future just to come here and have these biscuits! The crab hush puppies were excellent as well!! We hadn't even had our entrees yet and we were so delighted with the appetizers alone. I would highly recommend both the biscuits and the crab hush puppies-- Mouthwatering. Our entrees were delicious as well. I ordered the pan seared chicken, my friend ordered one of the salads and added chicken. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Yes-- this restaurant made us cancel our reservations for a different hotel we were staying at, and switch to staying here. It was THAT impressive. I generally enjoyed my time at the restaurant HOWEVER I happened to go when it was really busy and I think the server forgot about me a bit as it took a long time to put my order in. Fantastic food, but greatly overpriced and not great service (hence the 4-star rating). My friend and I ordered the Beef Short Rib with sweet potato mash, which was absolutely delicious. The beef was tender, flavorful, and so easy to cut through with a knife! As for the sweet potato mash, I would honestly order a bowl of it on its own if I could-- that's how good it is. The green apple slaw also provided a nice crunch to the overall "soft" texture of the dish. But regardless of how much I enjoyed it, I can't justify paying $29 to get it again. We also got an order of the #16 Biscuits (for free!! courtesy of Yelp check in), which was great as well. The honey butter was great but the biscuit itself was honestly quite dry. As for the atmosphere, you know you're entering into a high-class establishment the moment you walk in. The interior is nicely decorated, with a bar in the center. But with that being said, I would've expected better service. Our waitress barely came to check in on us, and we had to flag her down multiple times when we were ready to order, needed our water vase refilled, ready for the check, and needed takeout boxes. THE restaurant in our Austin hotel, with some kickass breakfast items and drinks. We did not miss any of the breakfast/brunch mornings of our stay. Weekday and weekend options are different, but OMG delicious! If you're Marriott Titanium (yep, I'm all that and a bag of chips...but maybe Gold gets the deals too?), check with them on what they provide you during your stay. Fresh juices Biscuits (drugs obvi folded in) Chicken and Waffle All. The. Rest. Worth a visit even if your not staying at the hotel! We had a different waiter each morning, and all were great. Date night dinner here tonight before seeing a show downtown. I had the Summer Year Round to drink and really enjoyed the way it felt a bit like sunshine even in February. I was here several times during my trip to Austin as one of my colleagues was staying at this hotel. It's solid! But everything is a bit pricey here. I liked the atmosphere and I enjoyed the food and drinks here. The staff is also super friendly. I ordered the Brush Burger and it was tasty. Fries were nice and crispy. The food was absolutely amazing. Loved the atmosphere, and the vibes. The shrimp and grits were so creamy and flavorful. My only issue was that the service was not great. I had to always ask the water for assistance because he would never check on us, or the table next to us. Also the manager kept walking past both tables, looking at us and never speaking . Not really used to that. I can understand if they are busy, but it would've been nice to be checked on without always having to ask. We decided to take a date night out last night and go to Stella San Jac. We thought the menu looked pretty good. The server was very polite and attentive. She had answers for most of our questions. We should have known something was amiss when we ordered our drinks. It took almost 30 mins to get an Old Fashioned and a margarita. We then ordered the #16 biscuits and crab croquettes as apps. Both arrived within minutes and after we received them we put in our dinner order. I would not recommend the biscuits at all. They were very hard on the outside, bottom burned. The biscuits were not warm at all. The honey butter was the best part. The crab croquettes (which should just be called crab hushpuppies) were mostly breading. The dipping sauce was not enough to use for the 6 pieces we received. For dinner, we had ordered the Beef short ribs and Ora King Salmon. The beef ribs were tender an accompanied by sweet potato mash and a green apple slaw. I would say that was the better of the two meals. My salmon came with braised black lentils and broccolini which was not mentioned on the menu. It had a sweet onion puree that looked out of place with the rest of the meal. I expected a blast of flavor yet none of my meal seemed like it was touched with any salt. Everything was bland except for the crispy skin on the salmon. It is a unique crowd with the hotel guest walking in and out but I did enjoy people watching. I looked at the wine menu and whiskey menu and they both had great offerings. Too bad it was a Monday business lunch and not a Friday celebratory meal. The prices are reasonable for lunch and is perfect for a business lunch. Came here for dinner on a Wednesday evening, we had about a half hour wait for seats outside and would've had to wait over an hour to sit inside so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. However you can hang out in the comfortable hotel lobby and grab a drink from the bar during your wait. They had a nice selection of creative cocktails and rotate a handful of interesting local craft beers. We started out with the biscuits (free if you check in on yelp) and oh my goodness I'm usually not a biscuit person but these blew me away. They had a lightly crunchy and super flaky outside with a soft delicious inside. The salt on top made for a great contrast, these are a must. For my entree I had the beef short rib which came with green apple slaw and mashed sweet potatoes. The beef was super tender and flavorful, the sauce also added to the already great rich flavor. The sweet potatoes were almost more whipped than mashed, super light and fluffy but also tasted great. The slaw tasted more like a light fruit salad than a slaw, but was still pretty good. I would certainly recommend checking this spot out, if even just to have a drink in the lobby and share some biscuits. read more

We were able to get a reservation here on a Sat night in late June. There's no parking, but valet was affordable and available. The service was acceptable; our server seemed to work too many tables. All food and drinks were delicious, esp the biscuits ( there were 6 of us so we ordered most of the dishes). The ambience was just ok. We sat near the open kitchen, which was interesting to observe, but not an intimate situation. The only real negative was the price. Everything was overpriced by 20%. went on a Sunday for brunch to end a bday weekend celebration. Overall experience was lack luster. Would give 2 stars but I have to be fair I ate my whole main dish so I'm giving 3 stars. Received free biscuits with check in. They were tasty. Ordered deviled eggs they had a bacon flavor. Not sure if I was a fan. They lacked some acidity or something. 1 of my friends ordered the brussel sprouts. They were just okay. Nothing special there were a couple jalapeños sprinkled in there but no special flavor. 2 of us ordered the shrimp and grits. I enjoyed them. The shrimp was seasoned well. There was corn in the grits which was a nice switch up. There was arugula on top. I didn't mind it but my friend didn't eat it. The arugula was not necessary. 1 friend ordered the praline French toast. She sent it back immediately. She said it was mushy and it made her stomach sour. I'm not sure if it was cooked all the way. We were poured 1 glass of water each. I had to ask for a carafe of water for the 3 of us. Meanwhile I noticed carafes on other people's table. My friend ordered soda and she said it was flat. She sent it back asked for a different kind and had the same result. Overall it was just okay. Not sure if we would return.
