Came on a Monday during lunchtime. Nice ambiance with chill music and friendly counter service. It is expensive ($28 for the lobster rolls) but what isn't these days. The lobster was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of mayo and a deliciously buttered bun. The lobster itself was super high quality claw meat and honestly it doesn't get better. The fries were also great. Piping hot and perfectly seasoned. Driving up to the store, parking was limited. You should come from Venture Drive, or risk waiting to make a u-turn on Steve Reynolds. Store was easy to find thanks to the big sign hanging on the front of the store. Walking in, the restaurant was very clean. The cashier and employees were very nice. They checked in on us to make sure everything was alright. For the food, we ordered the habanero crab grilled cheese, Maine lobster roll, and clam chowder. Everything tasted good. The lobster was fresh and the bread was well toasted. The grilled cheese was good, however, we wished the crab meat was in chunks instead of shredded as it felt like a tuna sandwich. Honestly I had low expectations b/c well, this is Duluth, not Maine or Boston - so I was very pleasantly surprised and pleased ... and the 50% off grand opening special was sweet too! The roll also comes w/ a pickle, and fries or salad - I opted for the Caesar Salad which was good but drowning in salad dressing so I shared that feedback with one of the staff to use less dressing :) Also tried a 4oz. cup of Lobster Bisque - that was good too and had big chunks of lobster. I love this place! I've gone 3 times and I just moved to GA a few months ago. The staff is always nice and attentive. The food is AMAZING. I've almost tried everything on the menu and I must say the Lobster Mac & Cheese is a HIT everytime! Ive dined in each time, and they usually have something entertaining on the TVs, so that's a plus. Stopped by Sunday afternoon after hearing that a new lobster roll place opened up. FOOD: Connecticut Lobster Roll ($28) - Smaller than I imagined from pictures but packed with a lot of meat. The bread is very buttery, soft, and tasty. I'm a bit torn on the taste since some of the lobster meat tasted fresh and some didn't. It didn't have too much flavor so we ended up adding some of the garlic mayo they gave us to the roll. It comes with a side so we chose fries which were very good. The fries were crispy and flavored perfectly. Also gave a decent portion. Crab Roll ($20) + Mac And Cheese ($2) - All the rolls come with 1 side. Apart from fries or salad, all the other sides are an extra charge. The lump crab filling could do with a lot more seasoning. It was very very bland. The Mac and cheese was decent as well but tasted great with some hot sauce. Lobster Bisque ($6) - The lobster bisque had a couple pieces of lobster in it that were great. The taste was okay but the consistency was very off, extremely watery. SERVICE: You order at the front and then find a seat. The receipts come with an order number but the server doesn't call it, they bring it to your table so make sure to tip. There is a station next to the front where you can get water cups, hot sauce (Louisiana hot sauce and Tabasco), knifes, and extra plates. Straws aren't at the station, but they have it if you ask. Overall, it seems like they have some quirks to work out as they have just opened. I can tell the food, quality, and presentation have all been very thought out, but think they might need to get a bit more feedback from customers to perfect the taste of some of the dishes. When you check in on Yelp they have an offer to receive a free soup of your choice. I chose the lobster bisque. It was just okay hence the removal of 1 star. I also liked that the lobster really shined and wasn't overpowered by any other part of the roll. The crab roll was also really good and had a great flavor and again had a nice crab flavor. Very interesting concept and very well done . This was my first time at this place and it came via an instagram posting . Normally those postings look far better than what arrives at the table but this time very much on par. It being my first time and me being alone I am sure I missed out on trying some amazing things however I am sure that I got a good sample of what this restaurant is capable of, and will return to try a few other things again. The ambience is what you would expect it's a smaller restaurant, one large communal table, and various two and four top tables around. It also has a few televisions for local events and sports and so on. I ordered at the kiosk, but was offered to order at the counter, I just did not want to take a time at the counter, while I looked at the menu and tried to figure it out, so you order at the kiosk, and pay, or at the counter and pay at the counter, you're given a number and at the kiosk you printed a receipt, but they know your name from the receipt and bring the food to you in either way. I had the lobster roll french fries and macaroni and cheese. Topped with lobster. The lobster roll was spot on lots of lobster meat, an entire claw as well as some tail a very very respectable amount of lobster meat in the lobster roll I received. The lobster mac & cheese, which was topped with lobster was slightly greasy on top, but once mixed together it was fine. I assume it was something from the lobster or possibly the macaroni and cheese, sat for a minute before the lobster was added to it, a little separation, but a generous amount of lobster meat on it, and it was very good and very creamy. The fries were average at best I would expect a place serving a a higher end thing, such as a lobster. Roll to kind of focus on French fries and not use frozen bagged, but with the amount of business they were doing I also see how it benefits them. All in all this was a huge success my lobster roll lobster, macaroni and cheese and french fries came to $42 with tip and that's very reasonable considering cousins lobster rolls are between 26 and $28 alone so they are priced in the market value, the lobster mac & cheese I believe was $12 and I think the best value . Food: - Crab Roll: I got mine warm but I think cold would be just as good. They STUFF crab in there, my roll was overflowing. They really let the flavor of the seafood shine so if you prefer more seasonings you'll need to let them know. The crab was sweet and tender, not fishy at all. The bread was buttery but not so much that it became soggy. - Lobster bisque: the bisque could've used a touch more seasoning and mine didn't come with any pieces of lobster, but I'm gonna chuck that to mine being the first scoop from the pot since I came so early. The soup was creamy and rich. - Caesar salad: standard Caesar salad, I think they make their croutons because they aren't the crazy hard kinds you get at the store. - Cole slaw: I love their cole slaw, it's heavily mayo based and on the sweet side. There aren't "servers", you place your order at the counter and they bring you your food once it's ready. Regardless, they were very nice and checked up on everyone multiple times. I love that the restaurant is surrounded by tall windows, it makes the space inviting. It is a smaller spot so you may not have seats during a rush. In one word: meh Overall, feel a little overpriced for what you pay for. Lobster does not seem that fresh and is lacking flavor. I will say that the Chowder Fries are on point! The restaurant itself has a nice bright atmosphere. Clean space. Feel they tried to get that "harbor" feel inside with the colors and ambiance. Have a handful of different rolls to choose from and a few entrees, which are mainly mac and cheese and variations of fries. I went with the CHOWDER FRIES and the MAINE LOBSTER ROLL. Let's start with the fries. Chowder Fries: these are amazing! If only rating the place for their fries easily 4 stars. Whoever thought of putting clam chowder on fries is a genius. Especially because I love fries, but always want clam chowder at a seafood spot, so basically had exactly what I was looking for. The ratio of fries to chowder is perfect. Maine Lobster Roll: here where things went downhill. Presentation looks good with the roll served on a piece of thick buttery toast. The lobster unfortunately just does not have that lobster flavor. Really bland tasting lobster. I am not a lobster expert, so cannot say if it was previously frozen, but could be considering the lack of flavor. Most of the lobster is cooked okay. You get a few chewy chunks mixed in. For the price, not really the quality I was expecting. Feel there are other places in Atlanta you can get a better lobster roll for a similar price. Also, lobster roll comes with a spicy mayo type sauce. Honestly, any lobster roll I feel needs to be dipped in sauce to add flavor just is not good enough. That being said, the lobster roll with the sauce is pretty good. Definitely, not on par with anything you can find in the Northeast, especially in Maine. My wife saw them advertised on social media and I decided to take her on a date day. I can say this place was worth the 45 minute drive. We love lobster rolls and go all over the city trying them. I ordered 2 fries with lobsters and cheese, neither was supposed to have sour cream but they put some anyways... i was the first and only customer so there wasn't even any rush for them to make that mistake. Came into this place with a few others because the sound of lobster roll was so enticing to us as it's been forever since we had one! Of course it helps that Steami's ease of access to lobster roll in the city helps a lot. Went ahead and ordered a little bit of everything - from the Ultimate Trio which has a each roll, lobster Mac and cheese, order of fries, and an order of chowder fries! The sauce for the rolls was beyond delicious - borderline cheating! We loved the crab roll because it used real crab, liked the lobster (reason to come afterwards) and wanted more of the shrimp roll! The fries were super crispy and flavorful. The chowder fries was good but was over shadowed by the others. We were not looking the lobster topped items because it was mostly lobster claws and that'll have a inconsistent texture and flavor. Service was great. Even though the place was small, they still brought the food to our table and checked in with us to make sure everything was going well. I am sad and disappointed to post this here it goes. I have been here multiple times. The location is close to family I go out to visit on occasion so I don't eat it often. My wife was in the area and picked up our dinner order on the way home. As soon as she handed me the bag the smell was very strong of spoiled fish. I tried to call the store but no answer (for the record my order was a lobster and shrimp grill cheese, lobster bisque with extra lobster, and that just mine) We decided to back to the store 25mins away. When I got there the girl at the register smelled the bag and immediately said they'll make it over. When I asked for a refund or a gift card for my troubles she said she had to call the manager who wasn't there to get approval and went in the back. When she came back the only option was that they replace the food or refund but that's it. I asked for the manager's name who made that decision and the employee Mari said "they don't give out employees names..." (yeah, won't give out the manager "on duty" name??) I took the food option and when the replacement food came it smelled spoiled also. I told her I didn't want it and to give me the refund. When I asked Mari about the smell of the food she said "no one has complained..." For my own health and safety I will not be eating here again.
