My husband and I went into steak 'n Shake on route one in Jensen Beach yesterday. We have never been inside. We always order through the drive-through, but we decide to go sit inside. When we walked in, we saw the computers that you had to order and being in the mid 70s, they scare me a little bit. The young girl behind the counter said, would you like me to help you came out immediately and asked us what we wanted and helped us ring up our order with a big smile on her face. We ordered then we sat down. They brought our burger and fries out to us and I asked them for a knife because my husband and I were sharing it. The cook said no don't worry. I'll take it back and cut it for you. They then brought it out in two separate baskets which I thought was so accommodating for us. I have to say this is the cleanest fast food restaurant I have ever seen. There was a young man walking around, wiping down tables and booths constantly even when there was no one at those tables. He asked us many times if there was anything we needed. We then told him we needed ketchup and he went and he got it for us. I have to say we were so pleased with the service and the attitude of all the employees in the restaurant. I don't understand why there are so many bad reviews. Sat in the drive thru for 10 minutes being patient finally started asking "hello" as a bigger line grew behind us yelling at us like as if we were taking our time. Yall paying some lazy people place is filled with cameras you should be able to see someone in ur drive thru. When we finally decided to pull up to the window they looked at us like we were crazy. The place was immaculate including the rest rooms! They continue to clean tables.. The staff was constantly checking to see if you have what you need. The food was excellent and the fries cooked in beef tallow. Great Shakes!! read more

How I described this place to a friend...It's like 5-Guys ancestors opened a place to show them how it's done. I almost never finish a burger. I rarely overindulge anymore. Get a proper manager !! Watch out for Malika!! she is the manager. She got very nasty when I told her that I wasn't happy with my fries. She told me maybe I cook my own fries!! She said I should've checked my bag before I left. Rooted me out and hung up on me when I asked for her name called back five times before she would answer again. She said she she came at me with the same energy I came at her. Well first of all I said was that I was not happy with the fries and boy I got an earful. An employee like that can wreck your business. I have always been treated kindly and with respect for the last four or five years that I've been going to the steak 'n Shake in our neighborhood. Double cooked hard as a rock fries greasy. The guy that works the drive-through is very nice. The manager Mikayla should be fired and told you never speak to my customers like that again.. this happened at about 830 at the Jensen Beach steak 'n Shake off of Britt Road. It says that the owner is local I would love to speak with him I believe they may live in my neighborhood. First off, it's sad to see the overall rating for this place because I believe they went through a big change over the years this place has been here. I've been a local and finally decided to try after recommendations to try Steak n Shake. The food was awesome, the cooks know what they're doing with the burgers, perfectly salted and seasoned and built nice. Fries come out hot and mountainess and the shakes are great. Though it's an order at a kiosk joint, some workers came out to take platters and help clean. The place still has the classic checker floor which ties into the history of the franchise. Wait times were okay (10-12 min) but I went on weekends when it was understandably going to get slammed. read more

Haven't been here in a while. Received excellent service. Guy at the window was polite and repeated back my order perfectly! The young man at the pickup window did a good job as well. No attitude. None at all. Got 2 steak burgers and onion rings..... everything was delicious! Burgers were juicy and perfectly seasoned. What a dump. There were fifteen cars lined up at the drive through and absolutely no movement. I went inside hoping things might move a little faster. The joke was on me. I walked in and was completely ignored. One woman, after finally getting her food, complained that the fries were ice cold. She handed them to a grumpy employee who turned, tossed them in the trash and replied "Well you're gonna have to wait then!" There were several employees working at a very leisurely pace with no sense of urgency. At that moment I left. This place is a fast food place that is fast food! The $4 specials are great! Double cheeseburger and fries or 3 other combos. They also have other things on the menu. I don't know what's in the hamburger but it tastes great for what it is ! The fries are decent too. read more

I don't want to sound mean but while we were taking our order today, mid way the person taking our order, she just stopped talking to us, so when I said hello after 2 mins she said "WHY YOU YELLING, CAN I HELP YOU". I read some of the other reviews and I am surprised by them. When you consider quality of food, service and price, you simply cannot beat the Steak and Shake. The price is excellent and the food is very good. I can get a double cheeseburger, fries, a soda and a small milkshake for 6 bucks. And it is very tasty. I absolutely love their french fries. Their french fries put McDonald's to shame. That being said, I have been there many times and I have seen a few times where they are very busy and it takes a while to get seated. At those prices however, I don't mind.. I have to drag my wife here cuz she's not a fan, but if I had my way, I'd eat here every day. read more

Really gross breakfast! My husband and I both ordered the breakfast skillets which were disgusting! The eggs were so greasy and oily they were inedible. It is what it is.. it's not 5star white tablecloth dinning but I love this place because the burgers are made to order.. the fries are not!! My wife and I went to thiis restaurant this evening. We waited for over 5 minutes for someone to come to the hostess desk and seat us. When no one ever did we sat down at a booth that had yet to be cleaned from the previous customer. After another 5 minute wait the hostess then came to our table and asked if anyone had seated us. We told her no that no one ever came to the hostess desk. She then todl us the sign said that the hostess would seat us and then stormed off. She came back after another 5 minute wait and threw a cleaning cloth on the table and went to another table. She came back and said "I am not reaching across you to clean the table". We were supposed to clean the table ourselves. She then re-iterared that we were supposed to wait to be seated. She was extremmely rude during this whole thing. I told my wife that we were leaving that we were not going to be treated so rudely. She said good, get out of here. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and asked her to let me speak to the manager. She ignored me and I asked her again. She said "get away from me". All of this took place because we sat down at a table without waiting for the hostess to seat us. I did speak to the manager and told her I had never been treated so rudely by a restaurant employee. Several of the customers at other booths said they were glad I had spoken to the manager, because she was rude to them also. I have been going to Steak & Shake for over 50 years. Absolutely LOVE the shakes!!!!!!!! Ordered the Double Steakburger with melted American cheese and thick ultra premium hardwood-smoked bacon. The cheese wasn't melted and the bacon was "gummy". I know they don't put salt on the fries so I was looking for a salt shaker. Not one on any table! How does that even happen? There were these little packages of salt, I opened one. Because of all of the humidity in south Florida, the salt was just a lump. I asked the server for a shaker, she only brought more packages. What's up with that? Won't be back for any food. There were only three other tables seated when we arrived but it took about 10 minutes before we were seated at a table. The booth was filthy! It then took approximately 10 more minutes for a server to arrive. We ordered our water, meals and dessert (no whipped topping) all at the same time. My daughter ordered from the two items for $3 menu and I ordered the 3.99 lunch combo. When our ice waters finally arrived, 1 glass had a bright pink lipstick mouth print on it. Our specialty shakes arrived before our meals and had whipped topping on them. Kari, our server, took them back and scraped the whipped topping off of them. That would have been ok had my daughter's mug not have had whipped topping running down the side in clumps when it was brought back to us. When we received the bill, we were charged $3.49 for her grilled cheese and french fries that was the combo on the two items for $3 menu. When I questioned the extra charge Kari was completely confused. My cookie never came with my meal either. She went to find a manager. After a long wait she returned with our bill and $.50 in her hand and said she was just going to give me the money because she was getting too backed up to deal with it. People came in after we did and were seated, got drinks, and ordered their food and still did not have a server. Finalky as we were getting up to leave did someone stop by to give us flatware and say that our server was having issues, yet when asked who our server was she said she didnt know. How do you know that they were having "issues" if you don't know who the server is? This is unacceptable, need to have servers trained better.
