Mac & cheese taste like the box mac & cheese

I should've known this place wasn't going to be good when I walked in and I didn't smell no barbecue but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and give it a try anyways but in my opinion, this is not good barbecue I got the ribs and brisket mac & cheese ribs looked horrible. They were super dry. They've definitely been sitting for either a few hours or a day or so brisket also good flavor but it was dry you can. See in the pictures where it's just dry it out not really good. Mac & cheese was not good at all that for you very bad taste in my mouth doesn't really taste, Service was not that much better Either I walked in and told the guy this is my first time trying, and he had no recommendations. Not a how did you hear about us or what were you thinking about getting? I've had to look at the menu myself and figure it out.

    Loaded Brisket fries

New favorite bbq spot for the whole family!!!! The brisket fries and coleslaw honestly may be new favorite meal. They were so sweet and helpful, my kids have food allergies and they took the time to go through the menu and tell me what was safe for them. Going to be a new staple in our household.

    Coleslaw

Fairly decent BBQ place. I had a brisket sandwich that seemed a bit small but had a good amount of meat on it. They are served a la carte so I got the coleslaw for a side and a can of Coke. Was given a choice of flat (lean) or point (fatty) and I opted for point. Meat seemed slightly dry for point but was tender and flavorful. Original sauce was good on it. Coleslaw was very good and plentiful unlike a lot of places that provide only a sample size of two bites. A little pricey for a sandwich meal but what isn't these days. Decorated with framed pictures of their construction and a few license plates and that's pretty much it but was clean. My order was taken and prepared quickly. Worth a visit for sure.

    Seating

I first heard of this restaurant from a well known YouTuber under the name brennen Taylor! Since I'm a local I decided to try it out and it was amazing! A little pop and son store with so many options! Me and my fiancé got 1LB of baby back ribs and 1/2LB chicken and a large Mac for only $30! The baby back ribs fell apart in your mouth and with the regular BBQ sauce was a perfect combo! As well as the chicken for it being so juicy and falls right apart in your mouth! I am a big chicken fan so that suits me perfectly! The Mac was creamy and had so much flavor! I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone! I will always support small business owners!

    Baby back ribs.

Wow. Really delicious BBQ. They are from Texas and the brisket/rims were top notch. Will be back soon. BBQ sauce was yummy.

The bartender Bowin was great but the owner that was talking down to him was absolutely appalling. First thing I heard across the bar before taking my drink order "I heard you're wanting to serve here and it's not gonna happen" which shocked me because where I come from if you have a correction to make with an employee take it up in the office, not in the public eye. I'm visiting and wanted a nice happy hour experience but let me say I'm never happy seeing workers mistreated like that. I was polite enough to wait until the end of my meal to speak with the owner, Ron, and he was very dismissive. He said the following "it's not that deep, you don't know the full story, etc." which absolutely true I don't know the full story but I don't need to. Actions speak louder than words. The way he treated him I would never support someone like that and first impressions are everything so shame on him. I stayed because I wanted to give Bowin a good tip and ensure I take this up with the owner before leaving instead of leaving a review. Here we are, I'm leaving a review because hospitality is very important in 2 sectors: 1) the way you feel; 2) the experience. I give a singular star for Bowin's great service as well as Celine's but Ron, the owner, doesn't deserve anyone's money for the way he treats his employees. I've never left a review like this but there's a first for everything. I do not recommend this establishment but if you do go please sit at the bar with Bowin or Celine because they deserve a good tip to take home. I support them but not this establishment or Ron. The way you treat your employees is the way they will treat your customers. I will also not be dismissed by someone like this. At first I wasn't going to say anything because I'm on vacation but I will not stand for this nor support this.

Anyway we were hypnotized by the orchestra of people working in there. The food was really good: snapper, chicken kabobs and fried chicken. I've seen the other reviews and we had no problems with temperature and quality. The only complaint: we ordered fries and there was just too many of them. :). Do be aware portions are big. Took forever once seated to get food or any type of service. Eventually went to the bar to get a refill of drinks along with others in our crew. The menu is an absolute joke as there is a lot of fill on what they serve you but both my wife I chose the burger as it was the most likely to interpret what I'm ordering. One it came after about an 1 -1 1/2 hours the burger was ok and fry's looked like it was fried in old oil. They were cold and for the money it was not worth it. I think a Macdonald Big Mac would have tasted better at a fraction of the cost. $27 for a burger, cold fries and a small milk shake which I couldn't understand that addition. While sitting at the table I am getting dripped on by the AC duct as that portion is in front of the door opening and with humid air coming in hitting that cold duct it was condensation and dripping on the patrons. In this case me. The server was terrible in my opinion and didn't really cater to many of our needs but the restaurant feels obligated to charge 20% gratuities of 6 people or more. Now I understand that concept as foreign people don't tip like in their country or none at all but that is where the problem is. If a server is good or bad they still are get their tip and in this case there was no incentive for good service. If I am paying $27 for a burger and fries that server better attend to my needs quickly and efficiently. Not sure if I ever will return to this restaurant as it left a bad taste. I usually go by the baseball rule 1 2 3 strikes your out but what brought me over to 3 strikes is the stupid menu and pricing. I think I will make my own dinner at home and bring it to the causeway for a better view and cheaper food and much better food.

**Frustrating Experience at Philly Down South Café**…read more I visited Philly Down South Café on Hutchinson Island twice today, and both times I was left waiting. The first visit, I stood for over 10 minutes without a greeting, so I left. I thought I'd give it another shot, but again, I was ignored for another 10 minutes while waitstaff walked by, making eye contact but failing to acknowledge me. No "We'll be with you shortly," nothing. This is unacceptable service. I wanted to try their cheesesteak, but after this experience, I won't be coming back. Took an hour and a half to get our food - 2 Philly cheesesteaks and an order of onion rings - and only got the food when we did because I flagged down the inattentive waitress. The cheesesteaks tasted like scraping off of the grill - one piece of onion, no peppers and no mushrooms. If there was cheese, I couldn't taste or see it. The onion rings were cold and hard as a rock. Sent the onion rings back. The waitress asked if we wanted a fresh order and we said yes. I'm pretty sure the cook threw the same onion rings back into the fryer and sent them back to us. They were horrible! Told the waitress the onion rings were horrible, so she took it of the bill, but she had an attitude the rest of the night - took a drink order and kind os slammed the bottles on the table. Won't be going back there.
