I almost died! And steak 'n Shake could care less had me on the phone for 10 minutes as my throat was closing up because they decided to mix peanut M&Ms in my supposed to be Oreo shake like it's said on the receipt and the bag it even had tiny Oreo on top. I don't know if they ran out or what But this is deadly. I could hear them talking in the back about me being on hold to speak to a manager And no One ever came. My mom even called because I Was being taken care of in the hospital and no one ever picked up the phone. The people running this place and the people working there need to be gone. I am so lucky to be alive, but they could care less and people are going to Die if they eat there. If you have any type of allergy at all, avoid this place. This should've never happened at all.

Staff was great! Speed from drive thru was excellent but the Butter steakburgar n amount of regular onion rings was terrible! Worst I had! You can say butter made buns soggy ..I had before n it was better than this recent order! Use right buns next time?!!! I HATE SMUSHY BUNS! Also asked for mayo on the side! Back to back NO MAYO! Be a long while til I come back to this location!

This used to be awesome, but since Covid and now having to order everything from a kiosk, it's just not the same. The atmosphere was sad. It wasn't busy, but also the floors and some tables weren't clean. The kids liked their shakes, but the soda machine wasn't properly adjusted. Every flavor I tried was like club soda. Plenty of carbonation, but not enough syrup to have it sweet. The burgers, fries and onion rings came out warm -- not hot. The small onion ring servings are pathetically small. They need to bring back servers and have service. Steak-N-Shake of 50 years ago would be to die for. Steak-N-Shake of 10 years ago would be great. If it keeps going like it is now, next year it won't be here. I spent almost $30 and it was about $20 too much.

First time in Jax, here currently for work. Was hungry and stopped at this place to grab something to eat. I ordered the double butter burger and fries. Staff was friendly and the food was great! Will definitely eat here again.

What's in this photo?? Not what I thought. Thanks for nothing.

30$ worth of garbage. Triple burger on the left isn't even close to what I thought I was getting. The garlic butter burger, the bun isn't even correct. They close in 45 min and I'm not driving back because they can't read tickets. Waste of my hard earned money.

Growing up in the midwest, I was raised on Steak n Shake. In fact, I went to college down the road from the original restaurant. So I have such fond memories and wanted to give it another try after years of not having it. In general, it was the same as in the past. The key difference was that you now order at a kiosk rather than being served at a table. The food itself was similar, with the exception of the burger meat that is no longer as good/flavorful. The milkshake was amazing as always. The restaurant seemed clean.

Cheese Fries to go, well through Uber eats.

First off just to be clear if I had gotten the food I received and I was dining in or even picking up this would have been a much lower review. Now we had order food through Uber eats and our driver got lost but it made the wait even longer. Now that isn't Steak' n Shakes daily it's more on the 3rd party. I ordered the Frisco Melt and Cheese Fries. The Frisco Melt was good but had lost a lot of the crisp in the toast and the wrapper it came in was extremely greasy. My Cheese Fries were ok as well but a little soggy not not nearly as bad as the other people's food who's regular fries were extremely cold and soggy. I'm a big Steak' n Shake fan but maybe getting food from them through Uber eats isn't the best way to get it. Especially if your driver gets lost with your food. But again for food at 12:00AM it did end up hitting the spot.

Here's the number to corporate in case you need to call them. It's pretty much a given that you'll have to call to report this place.

Do not go to this restaurant. This was crap service.. .waited to be seated, waited to have Angela take our order, got my own drink refilled...didn't hand us silverware...we asked for a knife and she brought one so we shared it. .and she brought two napkins. Wtf?! Called corporate while I sat at the table. Got the wrong order but I was so hungry and Angela never came back so I kind of had to choice but to eat it. Bun was cold like they'd just gotten it out of fridge Good thing I don't live in Jacksonville and to be sure I would not recommend this place

On a very positive note, this is a great place to sit and spend some time with your family after watching a movie next door. Let's face it. There's nothing around that's very close or convenient for the purpose of hanging out for coffee. When everyone in our small gathering lives at the opposite ends of Jacksonville (885+ mi²), Steak 'n Shake works. We were all pretty full with the movie popcorn, but my mom and I ordered a double-cheese burgers with fries anyway. She also saw the ad on the wall for a milkshake with M&Ms so she ordered that, too. My sister got the Wisconsin burger and added bacon plus a vanilla milkshake. And my other sister and BIL just got bottomless coffees. Price: All of our entrées were about $4 each. Our total bill was about $26 minus the tip. Nice. Food-wise: My burger was great! It was juicy and flavorful with all of the condiments requested. Unfortunately, my fries were room temperature and not hot enough for me to enjoy. My mom and sister were pretty quiet while eating their burgers and when I looked back, their plates were empty. I guess they both liked their meals. And the coffees were fresh and hot. To be sure, the diner was surprisingly busy on a Sunday afternoon. The service was at a turtle's pace and no one seemed to be in a big rush. For this trip, we were spending quality family time and really wanted a place close enough to just sit and visit with each other. Overall, this Steak 'n Shake gets 4-Shiny Stars. Our waitress, April, was so cordial and patient. She did a great job taking our orders and checking to see if we needed anything for the two whole hours we were there. In addition, the cooks also redeemed themselves by bringing out a freshly cooked (hot) plate of fries to replace the original ones I received. I'm sure I'll be back.

Think bar snacks -- pre-packaged pretzels (we had the bacon-flavored ones, tasty but probably something you could grab at Publix). Would've loved some fresh food or food truck action. We came out specifically to support a local cat rescue event, which was awesome. Major props to the brewery for partnering with the volunteers and even offering to help promote adoption efforts to their regulars. You can tell they care about their community. There's also a side area with extra seating and a bunch of board games -- most are donated, some missing pieces, but still a fun, low-key vibe. My friend ordered us the Pork Belly Kimchi Fries, I got us an order of the Cheese Curds, and for my entree I got an order of the Asian Sticky Wings. I probably would have never ordered the kimchi fries on my own. Sometimes kimchi can be fickle and really hit or miss. It was definitely a hit here. More on the sweet and tangy side but worked really well. Fries seasoned perfectly, and the pork belly cubed and cooked to perfection. Out of all of the times I've been to Wicked Barley, these fries have to be one of the best items I've had from there. Cheese curds were pretty basic. Tasted great, but nothing to write home about. If you like Cheese curds, you'll enjoy theirs. I originally had my eye on the jerk chicken wings and I was warned by the waitress and my friend that they are REALLY hot. Jerk chicken is generally one of those thats right on the borderline of too hot for me. To give you an idea, if you're familiar with Butthutt BBQ's jerk chicken, theirs is as far as I can go for spice level. So I switched it up to be safe, and I am glad I did. Sweet and sticky, these had really great flavor inside and out. Would definitely get these again in the future. Brought a couple home to the hubby and he seemed to enjoy them too, and he normally doesn't like, what he refers to as, "sweet meat". I had three different beers in my favorite tasting style, sour. I had the PB&J sour, the mango sour, and the orange cream sour. The orange cream was my favorite of the 3. We enjoyed the sounds of the band Splittone in the background and enjoyed the whole vibe of our meal.
