In other reviews someone mentioned they don't grill the onions and another said the sauce was just sour cream. So I'm guessing they made changes because I didn't have those experiences. I like to eat some of my meat, tomatoes and onions in one sitting and come back later and eat the rest with the pita. For this review I did take a bite to make sure they put the pita on the grill with a lil oil without me asking. They did. I'll be back! Crazy thing is I've been so put off with food around here that I refused to try what I'm used to eating at home. But this was such a pleasant surprise.

We decided on a Philly cheesesteak, the blackened chicken breast, and an order of chicken wings. There was a variety of can drinks on ice right beside the order window. We got our drinks and had a seat at the picnic table. It took a little less than 10 minutes and our food was ready. We were thoroughly impressed with our selections. Plentiful and delicious! They only have the one picnic table but the reservoir & Natchez Trace are nearby if you want to picnic.

The owner apparently is a Grille master. However the ribs are super sweet. The bake beans are delicious but they are candy sweet as well. The chicken is very good but the pieces are super large. As if they come from birds taking hormones. I've never seen wings and drumsticks as big as the ones they serve. They have to come from birds pumped with hormones I believe. The burger was good. They had food residue and greasy fingerprints all over them, and were torn and ripped in places. I was shocked that they do not at least have their menus laminated for this very reason. Everyone at our table noticed this and commented on it. This is a horrible first impression when you sit down at a restaurant, and needs to be corrected ASAP! I used to always love coming to Jo's diner over 10 years ago. I would usually get breakfast, and it was great. I decided to get something different today, and I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I ordered a house salad with fried chicken on top. They used to have this on the menu years ago, but I didn't see it; however, our server said she could have them make it for me. What I got was a small side salad ($5) with barely any chicken on it. The salad was in a little bowl, and had ONE chicken tender on top! I was even more surprised when I got my bill and noticed that I was charged $8 for said chicken tender. So for $13, you would expect to at least leave not hungry. I would've been better off just ordering a chicken tender platter and subbing the fries for a side salad or something. Lesson learned, I guess. Our server, Scarlett, was very attentive and really sweet, so that was a good thing! I love the vintage diner feel of this restaurant, and it brings back a lot of nostalgia of visiting "Brent's" in Jackson with my mom as a child. The next time I eat here, I will either get a daily blue plate or go back to getting breakfast. I just don't think salads are their specialty. I will come back and update my review if I do go back and it is better. (*Management: PLEASE get rid of the 3.5% fee for using a card as payment! I purposely avoid restaurants that do this to their customers. I used to work for a credit card processing company, and know that it is against card brand regulations to surcharge debit cards, which it clearly states on the bottom of your receipt that you do. This is a good way to get a hefty fine from the credit card companies. All it takes is one phone call from a disgruntled customer.)
