This place is "meh" at best. I went in yesterday for a pedicure since my normal places were packed and I needed one. I went in wanting just the basic pedicure, but decided to get their #1 deluxe pedicure since it offered the callus remover and I needed it. Why not go big and get the hot stones and sugar scrub?! In the end it's not worth it. The scrub is hardly rubbed on your legs. The massage was hardly a massage with the stones. My 2 year old daughter could have given a better massage. For the price, I expect a little more care. The paint job was alright. Hopefully it stays and doesn't chip quickly. Also the woman kept stopping and looking around like she was trying to remember what the next step was. Maybe she was new to this and that was why it wasn't good? I have no idea, but I won't be back to find out. read more

Came in with my coworkers, we all had appointments but they assisted all the other walk ins/other appointments that came in after us. The male employee was very rude and was not honest about their pricing. After we paid he began increasing the price from what the original total he priced for us. This was probably the worst experience of my life. I used to be a manicurist and i hope to God that none of my customers ever felt the way that i do right now. i was ignored to point that i thought it was a trick. The 2 Women were so busy talking to each other in their own language that my pedicure was so half assed I almost got up and walked out. The massage sucked they forgot to do the hot stones they forgot to do all kinds of things. I have a broken toe I told the lady she rubbed it hard anyway I have a cut on my thumb they rubbed it anyway. with the hand massage which was an afterthought they used maybe 2 tablespoons of lotion and all the lady could tell me was how dry my skin was I thought she sent me a photo of the few words that they said to me that was it. The man asked everybody in the place if they wanted water except for me. The lady came out from around the back to turn my massager off because it was shaking too much and that was before the polish. The polish on my toes is already wrecked I will never go back there again it was the worst hundred dollars I've ever spent do not go there unless you feel like being ignored. read more

I want to love this place because it is close and clean and new but I will not go back here. The man that seems to be the manager or owner is so rude. He also smokes right outside the front door so the whole place smelled like a stale bar both times I've been there. I went to pay with my card and he said "next time you need to bring cash"....which isn't what the sign says. I also went there to buy a gift card once and he said "you are only doing $20 what will the person even get with that?" The staff are nice enough but can't give this man my business. read more

This place is terrible!!! Pedicures are supposed to be relaxing but the owner was relentless with his up-selling of services. He was very rude to his employee as well. The salon itself is not set up well and has an odd vibe. My pedicure ended up looking terrible with unfinished edges and one toe was bleeding. I would normally ask to have any issues fixed but I honestly just wanted to get out of there. He was too pushy and rude. Will be my last visit. Avoid this place!!! I went to this salon after a friend recommended it. The guy did my nails and rushed them because there was a line. He insisted I got gel, I said no. He gave me gel which came off after 4 days (I've never had gel nails that didn't last longer than a week). I can't complain because he gave me the gel at no additional cost, however, I left with 3 hangnails- ouch! read more

This place is really nice and new! Everything is really pretty and they have a good selection of colors. This was my second time at Star Nails Bar and it will probably be my last because of the quality of their service. I got a pedicure and i felt that it was sloppy. I think the technician forgot to put on the top coat and I didn't realize it until I got home. They're also a little pushy with up selling extra services. Their prices are a little high. read more

I got one of the deluxe pedicures (which they were quite pushy about me upgrading to) and a gel manicure. I was super disappointed with what I got for the price. My pedicure was too fast, and the nail polish got smudged when my flip flop was put on but I didn't notice till after I left. My gel manicure was terrible!! Visible lines in the set polish, made it look like they skimped and used too little polish. Also, the gel polish literally peeled off on its own after two weeks! That has never happened to me before. I took my husband and granddaughter to get manis and pedis and we had an amazing experience. Andy did my gel manicure and my nails are spectacular. Tina did my husband's spa pedicure and they are a great time talking about everything under the sun. The patience of the lady that did my granddaughters nails was amazing. The salon was very nice and clean. The staff were friendly. I chose the Spa pedicure which was the least expensive on the menu that you were given once you were in the chair. I had also asked for an eyebrow wax because I had a coupon that said one free eyebrow wax with a manicure or pedicure service. It also said 20% off services. The pedicure was nice, but my eyebrows were uneven and I didn't notice until I got home and looked in the mirror, one was thinner than the other. They said the free wax was only if you got both a manicure and pedicure. I ended up getting a $5 discount. I think the coupon was misleading. read more

It is a beautiful place but be careful. I asked for the basic, standard Manicure and Pedicure. I don't even put polish on my fingernails which is why I order the basic service. I do this at the usual place I get my nails done and they thank me. The price on the cost listing was $22. That is all that I needed, basic service.I was charged $41. I assumed that I made a mistake reading the price list, paid and left. When I got home, I went on line and checked the prices from other customers. $23 for the basic service. I called and was told "You had to have polish removed"; but I removed the old polish before going in. Then told that the manicure was $14 and the Pedicure $27. I believe this was because I asked to not have nail polish on my nails????? No one told me up front that not putting polish on my nails would double the cost of a basic service. Their salon, there rules I suppose. There are many salons in San Marcos; all with talented artists. Avoid this one. read more

This place is awful! I went here once to get an acrylic fill with gel and it will be my first and last time. The man that did my nails was really pushy and annoying and he kept rushing me to pick my color. He cut 3 of my fingers and then proceeded to file away at the skin. I didnt ask for my nails to even be filed down... but he did anyway. Not just that, but he kept charging me for stupid things like an accent nail or even $5 more for the shape of them (i have been to many nail places and i have never been charged for the shape of my nails). He continued to insist he charges more because hes "professional" and is "the best" WRONG! When it came time to pay i asked why it said online that they only charged $30 for what i wanted and asked why it came out to be $40 and he said because "i did a good job" and said here i will be nice and give you a dollar off... like thanks i can buy absolutely nothing with a fucking dollar. Anyway i said thank you and walked out and went to my usual salon the next day and they did excellent per usual! read more

It was my second time getting my nails here. The first I was in and out, but this time it took 2 HOURS to get my nails done. I only getting a dip with no mani. They had 2 people doing my nails, but they would come do a part of my nails and then leave me and then would come back and continue doing my nails. I spend more than $40 there and they still charge me for .50 cents to swipe your card. The also charge me a $5 fee just because I wanted to Oval shape when I already had the shape. The guy was rude. He was no gentle at all like he was in a rush. When I was there they kept saying to the other people I will be there 1 min. then 5- 10 mins. would past and they still had them waiting. Yes it's clean, but they will make you wait for a long time and the prices are a little to expensive. I will not go there again and I'm not a person that gives a review or complains about place, but the time that spend there was crazy. I spent more time on my phone than the time it they did my nails. Regardless how my nails came out. I will never go back. read more
