I always come to a nail salon twice before I review it just to make sure ! This place is personally my favorite for just getting a simple gel manicure, it's always a good price, good service, and I've left happy each time I've gone. I did notice that they do gel x which I personally haven't tried yet but I know it's hard to find a salon that does gel x so this might be good for people interested. Came in for a nail removal and the woman who helped me literally ripped my gelx nails off and when I requested that she soak them off she said "they don't soak off." She lifted one of my nails and made it bleed a little and then just filled them down. I had an appointment with Ivy and was seen 20 minutes later. I got my pedicure done first which was very nice and looked really good. Ivy did my dip powder on my nails for the first time and I was very happy with how it turned out. It looked perfect and shaped perfectly. I visited Be Polished for a basic pedi and gel mani. I went for the first time during my lunch break to get a pedicure and it was pretty busy for a Tuesday afternoon. I made an appointment that same morning and was seen minutes after arrival. Unfortunately I didn't get the woman's name who did my toes but she did a great job. She scrubbed my feet, trimmed my cuticles, shaped and polished my little piggies to perfection. I was in and outta there in an hour! I came back to Be Polished on a Saturday afternoon. Be sure to make an appointment! I repeat: make an appointment! They were so busy. I waited almost 45 minutes but the owner was very apologetic! I got a gel manicure by Ivy. I called and made an appointment to get a gel fill. I was very clear with the man who answered about what I wanted. He said yes we do that. Once I got there .... I was meeting a friend. After 20 minutes past our appointment time she got called back. She was done with her pedicure before I was called back an hour behind schedule. The women was not clear what I needed and after I told her I only wanted a gel fill she said she doesn't do they. So now I have no polish on my nails and I'm 1 hr and 30 minutes in and cannot get my fill. I expressed my anger to the man who took my call who did not try to remedy it. Gel was not super thick and amazingly Glossy - The sole reason we all pay extra over regular polish. Just relocated to Carlsbad from the Bay Area and tried several local nails shops in the area as leaving my special spot up north was so difficult! After many nail shop fails, my neighbor recommended this little "hole in the wall" in San Marcos. A million thank you's! Ryan is the owner along with his wife Kathy and they run this shop as well as service clients. The whole staff is friendly and work quickly as well as provide a relaxing environment. Worst business practice I have ever seen! Daughter and friends made appoints for 5 at 2pm. One hour later she still had not gotten her nails done. I called the business and asked why it was taking so long and they lied. They tried to tell me that the appointment was only made for three people. And that they couldn't see her because of that. An hour and 40 minutes later she still had not gotten her nails done. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever if it takes more than an hour and 45 minutes just to get your gel nails started. Nail Salon: It's very small inside, I needed to use the bathroom but I didn't ask because I wasn't sure If they had one . The salon was a bit dirty and felt very cramped. The Nail Technicians: The lady who did my nails, did a great job she was very thorough and was careful when cutting my cuticles. The young man who did my mothers full set was a bit rough when using the drill. Other than that he did a great job with the full set. The color selection: I have to talk about this because they did have a lot of color to choose from. Price: $40 for a full set ( gel white tip) and $20 for a gel manicure. Absolutely love this place. Heads up: they just moved to a new location down the street in the Albertsons shopping center! That being said....the new spot is so nice!!! The chairs are beautiful and everything is clean and new and feels like an actual spa when you are visiting! I love that they play classical music because it helps create a classy spa feel. Ok on to the nails...they have SO MANY colors and new ones at that. Tons of dip options also from pastels, bright colors, sparkle, sheer, and chrome. I LOVE Ryan's new salon! It's big, quiet, super nice! They definitely thought of everything when they were building! They even have super relaxing calm music playing I usually get a pedicure and a fill/new set of acrylic I always have Ryan do my fill or set he's the first person I've been to that can get them as short and thin as I like... I really don't like the "fake nail" look.. I'm not picky about my pedicure, as long as I'm not getting cut I'm all good. Now, the new spa chairs? Are seriously to die for! I just want to come hang out here and sit in them Since everything is new it's all very clean and sterile. They still use the same sterilization they did before.. Went here a second time and there was no wait at all! Went on a Wednesday around 5 pm. However, this time my manicure was not up to par like before. I had Lynnie and I asked for a rose gold chrome like the swatch she had and a pic on here before. She spent a long time unsure how to get the perfect color so I settled for a shiny pink. The chrome powder started rubbing off in just 2 days. Then, after 5 days one nail completely chipped. This is unacceptable for paying $35 for gel polish with the chrome. Even if it was their regular $20 price, gel should not chip that fast. And again, no lotion.... I'll still give it 4 stars based on knowing they can be good, but I will try once more. read more

The long wait was frustrating enough but what really upset me were the 2 cuts on my friend's hand. She was bleeding so much they put glue on her fingers...twice! Then at checkout I point out to the owner how she was cut twice and should receive a discount since she's in pain and it wasn't acceptable. Nope! Nothing! Nada! He said, "sometimes this happens". Great technicians. I stress this. Everyone is friendly, the shop is clean and they do great work. The negative: VERY POOR TIME MANAGEMENT. Don't even bother scheduling an appointment. They won't keep it. I came every other week for over a year and only a hand full of times did they take me on time. I've waited for over an hour many times and they will not wait for you if you are running even 2 minutes behind. This isn't the fault of the technicians... Ryan really needs to get a better scheduling system. Take down phone numbers, get a receptionist, OR HOW ABOUT NOT PUT A TECH ON A WALK IN WHEN SOMEONE IS SCHEDULED IN 5 MINUTES! Call people if you can't keep your appointments. After a year of this, I had to voice it. No consideration for others schedules. The gel is off and I'm no longer going to be a slave to this.
