Not a fan, I had high hopes for this Salon. It was my first time here, I walked in at 6pm on a Tuesday and they were able to take me right away. I had two ladies, one on my hands and one for my feet. Seemed like a good start to me... The massage with the pedicure was nice and the lady that pained my toes didn't do a bad job, so because of her I'll give 3 stars. But the lady that did my hands didn't really pay attention to little details. I pointed out that there were little fuzzies at the ends of the nail when she was painting and she tried to pull it off with her fingers, couldn't, so just decided to paint over it. Now I have fuzz dots under my polish on my hands. I wasn't impressed by the unevenness of the paint on the sides of my nails either. I'll have to go home and file them to clean it up.... I have been going to see Mimi for over a year now and every time has been wonderful. She takes her time and doesnt rush me out to squeeze in another person. The place is clean and the other employees always greet me with a smile. Mimi always has time to fit me in her schedule and there is never a wait when I come. My nails always last at least 3 weeks not just 2 which saves me money. There prices are reasonable and I have never noticed them varying from what the board states. I am new in the area and read some of the reviews, but probably not enough. I don't get my nails done often so I wondered if I was being too critical. I dropped in another salon two hours after, showed a manicurist my hands and asked her opinion. She was reluctant to comment, but I think my sincere concern led her to look at my nails. She asked if "that" was my own nail (the space between the cuticle and the polish). I said yes. She looked away and said, "The cuticles are not well shaped and..." She seemed to run out of words, but her eyes said it all. Positives: 1. Woman whom I think is the manager is very pleasant and wants to please clients. 2. Other employees seem nice also. 3. The salon is clean. 4. From the reviews, Mimi seems to get consistently high praise. 5. There were two customers who seemed to be regulars and one could tell they were happy with their experience. 6. I thought the display of samples for color choices was very nice. Negatives: 1. Young man who did my nails had a cold or allergies and was "sniffing" throughout the process. 2. Color put on my nails did not match the color choice I selected. 3. I went in with long enough nails to get a nice shaped nail job, but ended up with short, stubby nails. (see photo) 4. I asked for oval shaped nails. I got three oval, and seven round. 5. As mentioned, there is a space between cuticle and polish. 6. He hurt me to the point of "ouch" when trimming cuticles. 7. He got polish on the skin of my thumb and forefinger and left it there. 8. He was rather rough in how he pulled my hand and forearm to get my thumb in position where he wanted it. I've never had that happen. 9. The dipping process left my skin white and dry. No lotion? 10. I was so dissatisfied, I just did not want to look at the job so went two days later to another salon and had the gel dip removed for $10. So let's say Mimi and the manager do a good job as evidenced by reviews and in-shop customers. But, IMHO, everyone in the shop may not do a good job. read more

I wear long nail acrylics wIth gel polish on top and I'm SUPER picky about the shape and thickness of my nails. ( super thin and a skinny coffin). I live in Oceanside and tried every place with a good review in my vicinity. I found some good places and some terrible places but always had problems regardless with breaking and lifting. I was referred to the owner here - Mimi by a friend and I can't tell you how happy I am. I finished college with my Masters degree and have an established career in healthcare. I stand up for myself and my health when I need to. I take care of every nail tech who has ever tended to my nails very generously. With that said, I expect for them to use clean, sanitized instruments on my nails; especially during a Pandemic. You clearly didn't read what I posted, but after seeing how you spell, I question whether you know how to read appropriately. Nail salons have been reopened with strict Covid-19 protocols. They are to wipe down their chairs when a new client comes in, they are to use sanitized instruments on each client--nail clippers and cuticle removers are not to be used without cleaning/sanitizing them first. You attacked me the moment I opened my mouth. You do realize the nail tech was using a non-sterile cuticle remover and nail clippers that were shoved in another person's nail bed and toe beds? You clearly don't seem bothered by that. I can only imagine how clean you keep your body nevertheless your home. My cursing came at you after I was attacked for standing up for my health and my rights. I never once cursed at any of the employees that worked there. It's not called entitled or "intitled" as you illiterate-self put it. It's called doing the right thing. If I worked for the state or any organization who vetted nail salons to see if they were following protocols, this nail salon would have been fined and/or closed. You are classless for defending such behavior. The world and businesses that have reopened need to go back to some type of normalcy, but that is if everyone is doing their part in making sure that we as HUMANS can keep each other safe. I came in to do a full set of acrylic nails with coffin shape and the male who did them made them too thick. I asked the guy doing my pedicure to fix them for me because they were too thick and the same guy came and fixed them for me. They were still too thick and on top of being thick they were not coffin shape. They charged me extra for the shape but it looked like long square nails. Some looked different shapes as well. At first they did not know what I wanted and it took them a while to understand. Overall I'm never coming back. Worst mistake ever!! read more

UPDATE: Haven't been here in a while and was surprised to see it wasn't too busy on a Saturday and more male technicians. Was a bit bummed with the whole experience. One of the guys did my pedicure. He didn't take off my prior polish very well. I thought he fixed it when he started pushing & cutting cuticles but there was still some left that you can see even with my new polish. Then I noticed he cut my little toe nail crooked. Noticed all this later cause I like to be in and out. Also have to mention the massage is more like rubbing lotion on yourself for 10 minutes. I'll have to find a new place to go. I had a good experience. Didn't have time for a full deluxe spa pedi so just got the regular spa pedi. I was a walk in and they looked pretty busy but the girl said 5 minutes so I stayed. Sure enough I was sitting in a chair within a couple minutes and just a few minutes more someone came over to do my pedi. She cut my nails short enough that I actually considered it short (other places still leave them a bit long IMO). She wasn't the most gentle however and for a moment was scared she might cut me. The massage was decent, started with a foot rub then some actual pressure point massaging. She finished in good time and my toes look refreshed for some open toed shoes again. Lol read more

I went into this salon with high expectations. My MIL, husband, and I got pedicures and I got my nails done too with SNS dip. Our pedicures were wonderful, but the lady who did my nails was so-so. She was very kind and concerned for how my nails were going to look. It seemed like she didnt have much experience with the SNS powder dip. She did a good job, but it wasnt as throughout as it could have been. My nails looked great after I left the salon, but not even a day later, one nail chipped. Not even a week later many others chipped and the color even fell off. Right now, all color is off because it either came off or I was able to pull it right off. This is the sign of someone who really didnt know how to apply the dip. I called and spoke with someone at the salon, she spoke with the manager and they want to offer me a $10 credit next time. Although that is a nice gesture, I wont be going back. read more
