The prices are good, the staff young (but hustling) and it's always crowded. My husband had the meat lovers omelette and couldn't find fault with it. I had a mushroom burger with added grilled onions. There was so much pickle juice that my bun was a soggy, inedible mess. It's a solid 5! Go for the nostalgia, leave happy and full. 50s diners feel, including the menu layout. Been here a few times. Ate lunch/breakfast here yesterday. A few people ahead of us, but this is always a busy. The staff are amazing-- always bustling around, waiting on customers refilling coffees and drinks, taking orders, and working hard. Had the banana pancakes, which comes with three huge pancakes. Upgraded to add an egg and two sausage links. The links are pretty substantial, not the skinny stick ones you usually see. Thiccc bacon. Great family place. Some of the tables have cd jukeboxes you can put money in and play. What a nice place to relax and have a good meal. This diner is more than their delicious food. The Moment you enter you're surrounded by memories of a gentler time. A retro look and feel that is more than decor but actually being in a diner from a long time ago. The food was fantastic as usual. Everything came out hot and fresh. The menu is quite diverse from amazing breakfast with chicken fried steak and tasty biscuits and gravy. A full lunch and dinner menu provides a full day of great eating. What I like about Stardust Diner is that it's such a great experience and they have managed to keep prices affordable. Long years ago, when I lived on the East Coast, I frequently ate at diners, made out of shiny aluminum railway dining cars. It's not as common as the movie cliché would lead you to believe, but it's still very much a thing. When the Stardust Diner opened, I was living pretty close -- close enough to walk over once every few weeks. We jokingly called it "the Silver Bullet" due to the affectation of diners from ages past. And you know... It's very good. Much more than you would expect, given the breadth of the menu. The thing that usually pulls me in on any given day is the "Redneck Benedict". Can you take a large biscuit, split it in half instead of the English muffin. On that, place, two pieces of chicken fried steak, upon which you place the poached eggs, and then cover it with savory cream gravy. Add a side of potatoes, and you're good to go. Oh. Except you probably want a piece of chocolate cream pie after. Highly recommended. read more

I had a decent experience here, however the service was a little rough. It took a while to be seated and for someone to take our order. The waitress also forgot to put in one of our items. Other than that the food was good. We had the steak and eggs and chicken and waffles. However the eggs were gross. It definitely had that diner feel. I took a seat at the counter since there weren't any available tables upon my arrival. The diner is a classic with mini juke boxes at each table. I was acknowledged immediately and was presented a menu while being asked if I would like a beverage. I asked for coffee and it was brought to me right away. I was offered cream which I accepted. The coffee was hot and fresh although the coffee mug was very small which I thought was odd for a breakfast spot. I had it refilled 3 times. I ordered the pancake breakfast with sausage patties and added 2 over easy eggs. My order arrived in about 10 minutes and was delivered hot. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The pancake syrup consistency was very thin, almost watery. I'm used to pancake syrup being much thicker in consistency. The syrup lacked flavor so perhaps it was watered down a bit or they just purchased a lower price/low quality pancake syrup. Overall service was friendly and attentive. I would recommend the diner but would not recommend the pancakes because of the inferior pancake syrup. read more

I know this restaurant is a favorite of a lot of people, so this may not be a popular review. I have had two subpar meals here within the last six months, and I am fairly certain that I will not be back again. I will start with the seating. The one time we were seated in a booth was ok, but the table was filthy with cup rings and we had to ask for it to be wiped down. The other two times we were there, we were sat in the smaller tables where you are squished in with other parties you may not be familiar with. Those seats are super uncomfortable. And the last time we were there we were asked to move to a different table so a larger party could be sat in our area. The food....the only thing I enjoyed was my pancake from one of the meals. I wanted to enjoy my side salad, however the blue cheese dressing tasted like ranch and was super runny. I got tater tots with a French dip and almost laughed at the number of tots, it seriously looked like a half order. My French dip was the regular roast beef (not prime rib) and was sparse on the meat that all I could taste was the gummy roll. My omelette was very greasy and the mushrooms were so slimy that I picked them out. Just all around a waste of time for us. Great place for pancakes tho since the restaurant up the street closed down. read more

First time ever being here and eating here and what do they let me do?! Have my maternity shoot done in one of their booths! The food we ordered was pretty good, the burger sat for too long I think to really enjoy and that was our fault. The retro feel is fun idea! Although the service was a bit lacking. Slow service and took some time to get the check. I ordered the Biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon. It was ok, nothing to write home about but it did it's job and made me full. My mom got the meatloaf and it was not good. Very dry and the gravy tasted like something instant out of a bag with a very gloopy texture. It also came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant and the green beans tasted frozen. You could squeeze water out of them. I also noticed the floor looked really dirty and needs a good scrub. Classic American Diner. Food just okay. Way too salty for my taste, but all the people in here seems to be enjoying their food. I got the Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. Surprised to find the mashed potatoes were real! Not that powdered or flakes. Turkey was dry but since the gravy was so salty, it didn't help the dryness. My mother in law used to love this place. This is a perfect example of the modified 40s and 50s retro diner as they've been laid out across the U.S. beginning in the 70s exuding the stylized and modernistic train car effect. With steel and chrome and glass, plenty of colorful vinyl seats, mica countertops, period glassware, and the ubiquitous juke box. While recently visiting the City of Vancouver, the family (of outrageous eaters) and I recently decided to visit Stardust Diner for their extensive breakfast offers and were not disappointed in the least. This is a busy place, especially weekend mornings - but it did not hamper the courteous and attentive service we received! All around the table, after being served everyone's meals there seemed a hush not known in my family crowd, they were too busy chomping away at every morsel placed before them, devouring everything on the plate as if it were their last meal! A perfect correlation showing how good it all had been. I had the opportunity to taste some portions of the orders on the table and can justify their actions. From the chicken-fried steak and eggs and a huge variety of pancakes to a multitude of bacon, egg, hash, and potato styles as well as French Toasts. I personally decided on their Redneck Benedict - really, really good, anyone who loves Benedicts should try it (one of the most distinctive I've ever savored. I suggest you stick to breakfast food here. I have been disappointed by the lasagna in the past, and most recently tried their Saturday prime rib special. Even at $22, even though cooked medium, it was easily the worst I've had- dry and tough (the au jus helped some). Decent size. The best part of my plate was the baked potato. My son & I just got back from checking out Mount St. Helen and we were tried & hungry, I heard about this place from some Yelp reviews. It is an old fashion diner from the 50's, my son had the bacon cheeseburger & I had the teriyaki pineapple burger, we also had side of their bear batter onion rings. What a great greasy spoon restaurant and I say that with admiration. When I was a child my father would once a month take us out for breakfast to what we called a greasy spoon ( term for what I feel represents a fifty's truck stop diner ). Let me say very many fond memories and some of the best breakfast food I ever had. The ambiance was right on spot even some tables still had the table side juke boxes in them. The Stardust diner seated us fairly quickly. It was a retro back to Nostalgia with Rio working small jukeboxes at the window tables. We put two dollars in there and got seven songs and before we were done, we were able to listen to five of the seven songs. It wasn't easy to hear the music because the restaurant itself was a little loud. The food was really good and the service was really good. I had to recommend coming to this place. read more

Since they do a good business there, they were busy and everyone was trying to talk over the noise. Not a place to visit but an ok place to have breakfast. Nostalgia seekers look no further. I don't remember what Ruby's Diner tasted like but the chrome and 50's memorabilia were a dead ringer for the interior decorating. It's also a huge attractor for families on Sundays so plan accordingly if you're rushing. I think we waited for about 30 minutes for two. It was late morning almost noon but they were still honoring the breakfast specials. We ordered the steak skillet scrambled and the two egg over medium with hash browns and wheat toast. Ask for it dry if you don't want bread heavy with butter. Everything was perfectly ok. Nothing outstanding. Just purely ok on every level. The service is outstanding. They check on everyone regularly and the staff seemed very cheerful. I wish I were that cheerful all the time. Well, maybe someday. :) read more

Great spot. We discovered Stardust while in Vancouver for an extended visit from our home in California. This place has a great menu with a wide variety and all items are served all day. The staff is friendly and eager to offer helpful and smiling service, it's obvious they all work together to create a well-oiled machine of service. I always love the old time personal service at the vintage diners. And Stardust has that charm in spades. I was immediately taken back to my youth and going to these diners with my dad. The food was phenomenal and you sure get your moneys worth. I had to try one of their specialty's, meatloaf and mashed potatoes. From the first bite to the last it was great. I hadn't been there in 2 years and was shocked how it went down hill in that time away. My sister ordered the halibut sandwich, it was cold and uncooked in the middle. They did replace the sandwich, but she lost her appetite to eat the next one. We were not offered refills on our waters or asked if everything was okay. They did give 6 dollars off the meal. In the past being there, automatically came around and filled up your drinks without asking. I was very disappointed. I drove from Gresham to come eat here. read more

This place is OK. The ambiance is kinda fun. It's a retro vibe. The signature burger they told me were fresh, but tasted like frozen. The sweet potatoes-hard pass, weren't cooked long enough for a crisp, but more like a solid only just cooked kinda vibe. The breakfast I've had here was good. When you get a salad, the person there takes a scoop that sits inside it and uses their bare hand to scoop all around inside the container. I first thought it was his bare hand. But, there is in fact a tiny scoop. I asked after I saw him swirling around in it. But, after watching this employee touch their face and hair and everything else and then the scoop and twirl it around knowing that more croutons would be poured in later...on top of a dirty hand that just went in.. Makes me question the sanitation a lot. The bathroom as well-looks like a lot of mold growing. read more

With a neon sign out front, blue booths, a silver ceiling, and mini jukeboxes at the tables, this place definitely screams diner. I felt like I was eating at a restaurant from Back to the Future. The staff are high school aged students, and the clientele seems like regulars that the staff knows by name. My server had numerous tables the first time I visited, and he was hustling to meet everyone's needs. I tried the Special Country breakfast that comes with eggs, bacon or sausage, and a biscuit with gravy. A great portion, very reasonably priced, but definitely a greasy spoon meal. If I visit again, I might try one of their milkshakes. They seemed popular. Overall, an old school vibe, decent food, and wonderful prices. read more

The diner atmosphere is super here & their meatloaf was excellent along with the mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, the patty melt was just average as were the tater tots. Even with this, we were most disappointed in the service we had. Unfortunately with this being said, I'd recommend trying another diner when in Vancouver. read more
