We were looking for a place to grab a quick lunch while in the area. My wife did her usual Yelp search and came across Kitchen Table Cafe. She noted that it was a place where I could get a burger and she could get a salad, and that it closed at 2:30 p.m., which fit our timing. We arrived a little before 1 p.m. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall on NE 134th, very close to where I-5 and I-205 merge. Inside, the décor was fairly plain, though they did have some Christmas decorations up. Most of the tables were occupied, and it appeared to be quite busy. The menu felt extensive, with roughly half dedicated to breakfast options, which explained why breakfast was still being served. The other side of the menu offered burgers, salads, and lunch items. We also learned that they have three locations in the Vancouver area. My wife ordered a chili burger without the bun or cheese along with a side salad, while I chose a bacon cheeseburger with tater tots. Her side salad arrived first, and she immediately noticed it wasn't chilled. She also felt the lettuce and tomatoes were past their peak and commented that she was glad she hadn't ordered a salad as her entrée. Our entrées arrived shortly after. She enjoyed the chili burger overall but felt it could have been served warmer. My burger was fine but nothing memorable, and the tater tots were the standard frozen variety. Like my wife's meal, my food was also on the cooler side. Service was adequate, but we both found ourselves wondering why this location holds a four-star rating on Yelp. For us, the experience landed squarely at "just OK," which feels more like a three-star experience. I had just given a ride to a friend for a procedure at a nearby clinic. I was told that he would be done in approximately 2 hours. I was in the mood for coffee and a bite to eat. Kitchen Table Cafe was about 4 minutes away. I was seated fairly quickly, the table I was seated at was clean and comfy. I saw there was a mug of flavored creams on the table. Searching through them, they didn't have any dairy free options. When the server came to ask what beverage I would like, I asked what dairy alternative they had, just almond milk, which is my least favorite for coffee.. it's too thin for coffee, IMO. So I got a chamomile tea. It was a tea bag with a mug of hot water. After I sipped it, I liked it, and thought it would be good with almond milk and Stevia in the raw. It was. Reading through the menu, there weren't a lot of vegan options. But there was a Keep it Simple section with menu items that you could choose 3 items for a set price. I thought I could find 3 vegan items, which I did. I chose the toast (without butter) with avocado, red potatoes and seasonal fruit. I asked for 2 slices of toast, and was charged for the 2nd slice, and there wasn't enough avocado for the 2nd toast. The potatoes seemed undercooked and flavorless. If I had to do it over again, I would order 2 of the toast with avocado and no potatoes. Service was prompt, and I was checked on throughout my time there. read more

If I could give a 0 star review I would. Tldr: service and staff were awful and rude. My friends and I ordered online to go. I went inside to get the order and I was told it wasn't ready and they would come give it to me. Which is totally fine, so I stood off to the side of the host stand to wait for the food. It took over an hour for anyone to acknowledge me and get us our food even though there were several hosts and waiters doing next to nothing the entire time. The food was cold when they handed it to me so I had them remake it. I would have let this all go and moved on with it, except for the fact that when we got home all of our main food was missing. (No pancakes waffles or French toast, just some has browns). We went back to the store to see if we could get a refund, and the manager did nothing at all to help rectify the situation. Wouldn't give us a refund, wouldn't help with a gift card, or a phone number to call. Everything about this location and staff employed here was absolutely awful and dehumanizing with no effort to give solutions to the problems they caused. The cooks and kitchen staff were busting their backs while everyone else did nothing but sit there and ignore me. This all would have been solved if the two hosts who I initially talked too, and saw me standing for over an hour had simply talked to me for less than 2 minutes. But they couldn't be bothered. All that to say, everyone here doesn't know what good service is and how to treat paying customers so they keep funding their jobs. (aside from the two waitresses who actually acknowledged me and my friend as they were leaving they were kind). Don't bother wasting your time, effort, energy, and money on this location. Go to literally any other restaurant and I guarantee it'll be more valuable than ever stepping through the doors of this place :) read more

I stopped in one day because I had a little time to kill in the morning. There were people having business meetings, couples having breakfast, and me sitting alone. Room for all types of situations. I loved the food and the atmosphere. A few tables clustered together with dividers between sections works to keep the noise levels down so you can actually hear each other. The service was great! This is not the place where young women are going to fawn all over you. They do a phenomenal job of being there when you need it, doing their job, and letting you eat. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area. I also really enjoyed the food. The hash was just warmy goodness. I was sad to be dining alone that day because I needed to have someone to gush over the food with! Is it tasty if you can't tell someone? Well, I'm telling you here. Had some time to waste so I came in for breakfast and got the French toast. The eggs were cold and so was the French toast. But I was seated and got a water right away tho. The hostess that seated me was also my waitress too. She did not ask how my breakfast was as she might have known it was cold. I left half of my meal on the table. How sad....another favorite restaurant that has lost its way. When we arrived, a less-than-friendly hostess, grabbed some menus then signaled with her hand, "follow me" without a smile or even looking us in the eye. Waitress was okay. Food was very basic breakfast for which we were charged around $40. without tip. Waitress didn't even leave a check...just stood hovering over us with her little phaser thingie, told us the amount, and waited until we paid up. UGH! Food and service is always great! I'm new to the area so it's nice to know something is close and convenient. They have it all from your griddle items like pancakes and waffles. to your basic eggs and bacon or biscuit and gravy. If you're feeling really hungry, their omelettes are made with four eggs and come in a variety of choices. The atmosphere is always clean, with employees who greet you with a smile! I have eaten here several times a year since moving here in 2013. This might have been my last time. The waitress never said her name, pretty much seeming as if I was interrupting her day. Totally cold and dismissive. I ordered the French toast and egg combo with bacon. The French toast was lukewarm and the bacon dry and overdone. Patrons used to get three or four pieces of bacon, now just two. The plate also used to be dressed up a bit with a couple slices of fruit, but no longer. I work long days 6 days a week and cook breakfast on work days. The one day a week I get to relax and enjoy a slow paced morning and have my breakfast cooked for me, I get pancakes with burnt bottoms (flipped upside down of course so I couldn't "see" them). Heard good things about this place so had to try while a relative was coming through town. Pulled up at about 0900 on a Sunday. We were seated right away which was great. I am sure they must have had their hands full as I state things were just getting busy. The customers were stacked 6-8 parties deep shortly after we sat down so timing is key unless you like to wait for a table. Good sign that the food was good right? We all had some sort of scramble. Looking at the clock as I saw they were getting slammed it took a while to get food. We all had drink refills in the 25 minutes it took to get our food. Everything was decent as far as taste and the food was hot. Two small mistakes on the order out of 4 people. English muffins and a potato choice, but not worth sending back. Everything tasted fine. Not anything to wow anyone per say but solid good. Portions for the money were OK for what we see these days. Not enough to take anything home by any means. 3 out of 4 of us were girls and they all polished their plates. If you are a big eater probably order something bigger off the menu if you find something. I am not sure what plates may be bigger. All in all I am not sure I believe the hype in my circle of friends, but a OK place to grab a bite. I would not wait in line to get the same meal we had in the review. Right off of I-5 which is a plus. In and out for a table of 7 in right at an hour for breakfast. Got busy fast on a Sunday but we arrived a little after they opened.
