While my original experience had some frustrations, I truly appreciate the way the owner personally reached out with a handwritten note and a follow-up phone call to address my concerns. That level of care and accountability is rare--most business owners don't take that extra step. Gluten free review: We stopped at Farrar's Bistro to get a bite and a drink and it didn't disappoint! We got the steak bites topped with fried onions, fried chicken bites, and a wedge salad. I give the chicken bites a 5 out of 5. They were juicy and full of flavor. The steak bites I give a 4 out of five a little chewy but I would order them again (the fried onion on top is gluten free), the wedge salad was delicious as well. I give it a 5 out of 5. The gorgonzola dressing was Devine! Thick and full of flavor... And for the topper, Ghostfish beer! Then at the end our wonderful server stated they had a yummy Reese's brownie sundae! First time in, most likely the last. We've been wanting to try Farrar's for a while now given the good reviews, and the menu looked promising. I'll start with the food - with the wide range of menu options I expected there to be some experience in the kitchen. Unfortunately, both our plates fell short. Some call outs - the broccoli was so hard I could barely cut it with my knife, pork was dry, and the macaroni mostly flavorless, but stale as well. I won't get into the details on the rest, since everyone has an off night. The bigger issue was how dirty the glassware was. The carafe of water they placed on our table had visible dirt on the rim. Same with the glass of beer - visible caked on gunk inside the glass. I'm always willing to overlook mediocre service, and even food, but never cleanliness. read more

I've been wanting to check this place out for months now and finally has the opportunity to do so last night. It's quite a drive for us but my husband and I couldn't think of anywhere else to go so we decided to finally make it out this way. We got there around 7:30 or so and the restaurant was super busy so we sat in the bar, which was also super packed and busy. We got lucky and were able get the last 2 seats at the bar top that just opened up. The place is kinda dark, parking lot is super small. Such great customer service! We were greeted right away by the bartender who quickly wiped down the bar top for us. He was so nice and so friendly and gave us time to look over the menu without us feeling rushed. I believe his name is Reese? That's what was on our receipt. Had 2 drinks and an entree and appetizer and everything was so good! But also pricey! I was here on the 20th of December & went at lunch time. I like it when it's not so busy - great to enjoy a relaxing meal. I had the spinach/ apple salad with grilled salmon on top. This place has been on my to-do list for a long time, so I'm glad my wife and I were able to make it out last week. I wasn't really even sure what to expect from the cuisine here, as "bistro" has turned out to mean a lot of different things over the years, in our experience. Other than a somewhat aloof hostess who gave off a bit of a grumpy vibe, service was timely and competent. My wife went with the pulled pork sandwich, and while I waffled over about four different entrées, I decided to be a basic bitch and order the cheeseburger; at the very least, it gives me a good baseline to judge a restaurant's competence. We also split the smoked salmon wontons, and a cocktail apiece. Everything arrived at the table in the correct order, and in due time. The wontons were utterly fantastic; that Thai cream cheese should be sold on store shelves, because it would fly off of them...it's that good! The pulled pork was everything my wife wanted it to be: among the best she'd ever had, she claimed. And my basic burger? Not basic at all. Perfectly juicy, and will all the right touches of condiments in the correct quanities. If I don't have to ask you for a bottle of A1 steak sauce, it's a damn good burger. Even the slice of pickle that accompanied it was above the bar! Looking at images of other entrées that have come and gone over the years, it's obvious that Farrar's Bistro keeps things fresh, seasonal, and never rests on their laurels. That explains why they've managed to stick around for so many years, and collect as many accolades accolades and great reviews as they have. I'm only sorry that we haven't stopped in sooner, but I'm sure that we will be back regularly to try out new things. Such a cute place with delicious food and warm, friendly staff! We stopped in for lunch around 12:30 on a Saturday. We opted to sit outside on their gorgeous patio. They have sails across the top, making for a nice amount of shade. Our only gripe was the air handler out on the patio...it was blowing warm air and made some weird noises. It needs some sort of vertical ventilation system or an encasement around it. It wasn't bothersome enough not to return, just a little annoying. Our server, Ashlyn H, was wonderful! She was so friendly, smiley, and attentive. She had a wonderful personality. We haven't found that much when dining out lately. It's sad because I don't think some servers realize how much their service can make or break the dining out experience. Props to Ashlyn! We ordered the Caesar salad ($12) with steak bites ($15), grilled cod tacos ($12 for 2 tacos), GOW IPA ($7 for pint) and the triple chocolate cake ($10) with a scoop of Tillamook vanilla ice cream ($3). Everything was delicious! Loved the Caesar dressing, and the steak bites were cooked perfectly. My husband thought they lacked grill marks, but the flavor was there. He enjoyed his fish tacos. Super dead for a Friday night, but all good. There was live music outside, but we opted to dine indoors due to the heat from the day. Our server was the bubbly woman at the front who also sat us. The smoked salmon wontons were a different taste. The Thai cream cheese (and other spices) gave the dish a sweet taste overall, but still good to enjoy. The sauce on the chicken teriyaki bowl was light and flavorful, not thick like many others. The Steak Fritesta was great as pictured. I don't think I would have enjoyed the fries on top. We had a very unfortunate experience this evening at Farrars. When presented with the bill my husband had a gift card that was given to him by dear friends for his birthday. However, we were told the gift card would not be accepted by the owner. I spoke to the owner who was not at all courtesy to as a long-time regular customer who lives a few blocks away from the restaurant. As a result, we will never again frequent this neighborhood establishment. As a recommendation, Amaros in Hazel Dell has great food, professional team of staff, and honors gift cards! Came to town to visit a couple friends and had a couple of hours to kill before we met up so I came here. This place is so ADORABLE. I love the wood and dried flowers look and the ambience is lovely. It's a perfect date night spot for sure, or if you want something a little fancy. Plenty of parking too plus an additional overflow lot just a few feet down. Wait times were astoundingly short, especially for a semi-busy Thursday night. I practically just ordered my appetizer and it was already on my table. The food is amazing and beautifully plated! I appreciate the thought and effort that went into setting the plate!I got the steak with fries and I'm sad that I won't be able to have this dish back home. I'm actually dreading the thought of not getting this steak. But above and beyond was ASHLYN . Her service was what made me fall in love with the place. Right when I walked in, she flashed me such a sweet smile and a warm welcome. Her energy was so positive like she was so happy to be here, and all her tables noticed. I don't think I saw even one unhappy table. I told her I'm not from around here and wanted to treat myself and immediately she was recommending her favorite dishes and even some modifications that she thought would really be a treat. Even she made a cocktail that is no longer on the menu because she thought I would like it. Guess what, I did! Honestly all the staff here had the same energy she had. DO NOT ORDER THEIR GLUTEN FREE BUNS OR THE STEAK BOWL!!!!!!! This is the third time I've ordered a chicken sandwich in a gluten free bun. I ordered it online and left my house immediately. I live around the corner. For the third time the bun has disintegrated. The while sandwich just collapses in my hands. If i am paying $19 for a sandwich ($2 extra for gluten free bun + $17 sandwich), I want to eat it like a sandwich. It is the most frustrating thing. Three times is too much. Also, the portions have gotten smaller, way smaller. My husband always gets the streak bowl. This time his portion was ridiculously small. It was half the normal amount but yet charged the full $24. In 2022 the food, the quality, and portions were amazing. In 2025 not anymore. Prices are way too high for their gas station quality food. Another thing, again portions. The portion of the side of fruit for a kids meal was a joke. I thought my kid already ate some, but nope. 1/4 of the tiny small cup was filled with fruit. DO better. Or lower your prices to truly reflect your small portions. read more

Felida's best kept secret. Farrar's is a personal favorite for myself and my husband. One thing I really want to highlight is the amount of GLUTEN FREE options on their menu! Went for the first time last week and it was such a cozy and intimate setting .. the service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The BEST part-- I happened to leave my wallet and some belongings behind .. their staff was so helpful in locating it all, intact, money and cards all accounted for.
