I frequent this Starbucks for about 12 years now and it is always a pretty easy experience. Now they've changed to serve wine and beer, super hipster. Today was a bit of a disappointment. I ordered on the new Starbucks app, like I do at least once a week. I get the same thing every time. Today I was running late for work, ordered 10 minutes ahead of time and went to the counter to grab my drink. Grabbed it, walked out the door. I look down at my cup and there's pink lipstick on the lid. I, for one, was not wearing pink lipstick nor did I even taste my drink yet. Went back to the counter, told the lady. She didn't say sorry (not that it's her fault but customer service ya know?) made me a new drink. Saw my new drink, asked for no whipped cream and there was plenty in it. I was already late for work so I didn't care anymore, took the drink and left. I would advise not to come here during rush hour times, may run into a mishap or two. read more

The barista was super friendly and so helpful!!! Just came in here for a quick drink between my classes. She recommended the pumpkin spiced latte and it was perfect also got my first reusable cup!!! This is one of those hangout places you can go to late at night just for the scenery. It's located in the Village shopping complex on the TJ Maxx/Staples side. We always come here late at night to hangout at the fountains outside. It's a good location to sit around with your buddies to just catchup and chat. Although the starbucks itself closes at 11:30 so definitely get your drinks before last call at about 11:25. The staff at this location aren't quite as friend as alot of the other locations. But the drinks themselves are pretty standard. Indoor seating is pretty limited however. So the majority of the people will definitely be congregating outside. Not really one of more favorite Starbucks. I usually go to the one in Diamond Bar and Grand, but today, since I was in the area for some time, I decided to go to this one. I wanted a skinny caramel macchiato with no whipped cream, and the guy was confused about it for a second and asked me some questions. Then my drink came out as a Caramel Frappucino with Whipped Cream. I was confused about how this was the case but wasn't in the arguing stage so I just took it home and drank it. It's in a nice place with lots of seats outside to enjoy the weather. There's a water fountain in the plaza where you can seat near and enjoy the scenery. Inside the store is clean and the staff are nice. I ordered online and my drink was ready within a couple minutes. I don't think there's a drive through if that's what you prefer. I got the mango dragonfruit tea and added in kiwi, strawberry, green tea, passion fruit tea. I just wanted something cool and fruity to drink and this drink hit the spot. Definitely use the Starbucks app to get the free rewards. If you wanna take a break, there's also a tjmaxx and a homegoods right in the plaza if you wanna buy some things. There's also some amazing restaurants that I've all tried in the plaza. I'd also recommend Starbucks the nitro cold brew (without anything else). It's a nice refreshing taste. I'm typically not a fan of Starbucks coffee cuz it's well known that they overroast the coffee beans and this the bitter flavor, but compensate with lots of sugar in their drinks lol. This Starbucks gets a 2.5. I have been a regular customer coming here on my way to work. Although the Barista s work hard, many out go out of the way for their customers, not giving them any kind of break. Once I forgot my phone, and the lady who knows me would not give me the rewards or do anything to help. Nope. Call the customer line. Regular customers are not valued. Also, a week ago, there were different people working. I ordered a sandwich to take to lunch, and this male barista went out of his way to explain the different sandwiches. The manager at this branch is exceptional, at least the manager I am aware of, Carey. She is probably better than any manager I've ever come across. What makes her so exceptional is her efficiency to do as much as possible as quickly as possible and not make the customers feel like she's rushing them. As someone who's worked in the restaurant scene, I know how stressful it can be to have a huge line and want to rush orders as fast as possible. But Carey is calm, cool, and collected. Great service with a smile. They know their drinks and they have pretty good maintenance. Bathrooms are clean and the shelves are neat. I drive the extra 6 minutes to come here rather than the new one that opened down the street from me because their not that experienced yet. It does get crowded with student so that's an FYI. Today I visited this place to work on some stuff and everything went well except for when I picked up my drinks. I politely told the barista that both drinks don't have whipped cream. I forgot her name but she just gave a look and went back to fix it. After getting the drinks, she threw the straw on the counter so rudely and walked away. Been coming here for several years with my dog, and really love the location and atmosphere. Inside: Very relaxing environment, makes a solid place to study or do work from your laptop. They have those relatively new wireless charging systems available as well in addition to their late night alcohol and snacks service (an unusual feature not available in many of the starbucks within the area) Outside: Lovely grass area on the side with consistent shade on a hot, sunny day. The pavers used for the ground are visually more appealing than straight concrete at other locations in the surrounding area. Drinks and Food: Have not had to complain about anything being done incorrectly. In fact, drinks come out relatively quickly and baristas/staff seem pretty positive and friendly overall. Again, adds to the great atmosphere. SUMMARY: Definitely one of my favorite starbucks for Walnut/Covina, West Covina area; I make the drive out from Covina because it's so worth it. Come here only in the morning! - This place is always packed since it's nearby Mt SAC and Cal Poly. - You can get a big table if you come the right time. Getting a drink is fine, but not all the time. Once I ordered a particular drink and it did not come the way I ordered it. The barrista looked at me, gave a huge sigh, and stared at the drink. At that moment I just said, "Forget it, I'll take it as it is. Don't want to bother you." and I left. Received very poor service from the Manager on Duty. He seemed very imposed upon because of the denomination that I handed him for my drink. This is only my second time frequently this store and will be the last time. I will have to find another establishment that can handle multiple customers during a high traffic time frame of 6:30pm in the middle of the week. As a manager, you should be well aware that your store will experience a higher volume of customers when the weather is cold and dreary. I'm highly disappointed as I'm out here because my daughter plays sports nearby. Luckily for me, there's a Panera Bakery across the street that is very gracious to their customers and I will be patronizing that establishment from now on. A company reward card isn't incentive enough for me to deal with a shift manager that is unable to conduct transactions with the same enthusiasm regardless of the customer standing in front of him. Don't think I didn't notice how much chipper you were to the customer after me. Perhaps you should reconsider your career focus and search for one that doesn't require to interact with people. read more

Honestly not a very good Starbucks. Went in today for the first time, I ordered a grande hazelnut macchiato with an extra shot in a venti cup. First of all the lady asked me "what are you going to do with the extra room" WHY THE HECK DOES IT MATTER TO HER ? I told her in going to put extra Milk myself. She, on her own decided that my drink is a venti because of the extra milk and extra shot. LADY who gave you the right to decide my drink size ? Charge me more for no reason ? I have never been questioned in a Starbucks as to why I like my drinks in bigger cups... Because I do , that's why. I had when they fill them to the brim and it splashes everyone and gets on me too. It seems with every update on this Starbucks, the rating gets lower ie 1 less star. Just not the same as what it used to be. No smiles given out here by any of the baristas or friendliness. I came in here to grab a drink during lunch today since I wanted to treat myself as it is NYE and it was the last work day of the year. The menu had somewhat changed and I was looking around for my drink. Not much friendliness from the cashier and I checked out with my "the drink's on us card" (given to me by the manager) due to horrible service issue last month. The baristas making the drinks weren't all that nice as well. They weren't calling out names, only drink orders so of course some of us were bound to be confused as to whose drink belongs to whom. Someone also order a grande caramel machiatto, so I nicely asked if that was possibly mine or mine was coming up. Because the barista who set it down only called out the drink order. The other barista then says that it's not mine it's a group order. I wasn't trying to bother them but no need to make it sound like I am such a nuisance. I totally understand if you aren't happy to be working on NYE but hey, I am working on NYE also. No need to be mean. When I finally received my drink, I asked if they had those green stoppers but the barista said that they were all out. Again, no smiles or caring about the customer at all. Just that it seems we are such an inconvenience to them. Customer service just continues to go downhill for this location. Might need to find a new default location, but this is the closest to me. Also, the incident that happened last month was with the bonus discounts sent through email by Starbucks HQ. I went into the store because the email stated a special deal for "gold level status" holders. The email stated that the certain deal was extended until closing hours so I knew that I could go after work since this Starbucks location closes at 10 pm. I head into the store and tell them that I want to order the drink that had the special deal. I know that there are usually new employees hired during the holiday season, but the employee tells me that the deal is over and even told another person the same thing before me. I told her "no, it hadn't" and I know that I tripled checked that day before heading in. She asks the other barista behind him and he says the same thing. I pull out my phone and find the email to show them. I get the email and show the cashier and she goes "well, I don't know if it'll work." I mean, seriously? Disbelief? Can she just not try it and not give me an attitude? Is it really that hard to not doubt the customer? The deal does go through but I had to call the next day and talk to the manager because that cashier was telling people wrong information and then basically arguing with me. The manager stated that deals of the day are noted and that baristas should check it before their shift. I am only guessing that none of the baristas bothered checking that day. Granted, Starbucks keeps sending me so many deals these days, but most of them are bonus stars automatically added onto the account through a certain purchase/deal. Starbucks has changed... lots its appeal to most of us, especially as the espresso in the drinks also taste lighter than they used to. Basically tastes like water with faint espresso. If you get an extra shot, it tastes like it used to... Parking is also limited, need to usually park by TJ Maxx or Home Goods during the lunch rush. read more

This is not a typical review as it doesn't pertain to coffee, rather it focuses on the treatment me and my son received by the baristas present. Without going into too much detail about what actually happened, i find it necessary to commend the Starbucks staff that was on duty at 11:45 am on July 18th. Their attention was swift, calm, and attentive. Because of their help and advice, things did not become worse than they could have been. Been visiting this location for something close to ten years now, and it has always been consistently good. Great service, fast internet. The only problem with the location is that sometimes it can get a little bit crowded, making it difficult to find a seat. If you can find a seat though it's a solid place to get some work done, especially with some solid food options nearby (pieology, Hawaiian bbq, in n out, chick fil a etc. ) TLDR: great place to get some coffee in walnut New stars program sucks! read more

It was 6-21-19 @ 9:40 pm. It was a lady barista with long blonde hair who served us. First, she was just chit-chatting with someone who might be her friend whom we thought was a customer at first. She already noticed us waiting, but kept on and on until her friend noticed us. Only then did she ask us what we wanted. For this incident, I would have just let it pass but to make things worse, she didn't even call our attention when our order was ready. I was busy on my phone but I was waiting for my name to be called which, I guess, is a common practice. She just left our order at the counter. She insisted to saying that I need to bring it to the store when purchase happened to return which is 20 miles away, because they are franchised stores and runs separate operation.. wow, excuse me? I certainly have every right to return the stuffs in original condition when I want to return within allowed return period, bitch. The location is great. Parking can be nightmare-ish depending on the time. Somehow they make their coffee drinks taste just a little off. Dunno what it is, maybe it's the water in Walnut?
