It was our first time trying this drive thru and we came here fairly late. The service was great and the lavender matcha we ordered was well made. We often find their drinks to be very watery at times and this was just right. The drink itself is interesting. The lavender is potent and it feels as if you're drinking lavender soap (not in a bad sense). In terms of location? We like this for the convenience. It's not crowded during the evenings. It's your typical Starbucks style ambiance but what makes it nice is that Amar is fairly wooded giving you a rather different view. We'll definitely be back for night runs here. read more

I ordered the orange cream cake pop, iced matcha tea latte with strawberry foam & summer skies drink with popping boba. The drinks were okay but the service was so slow that day. There was no line but no one was at the cash register and someone told me to wait a little. We patiently waited for more than 10 minutes before we ordered. Today I went through the drive thru and I was a grump. I wasn't feeling well and was really just wanting a honey citrus tea with apple juice. That was my go to when I worked for sbux years ago. I ordered but was informed they no longer carry apple juice so I got upset & ordered a drink I didn't really want. Then I ordered my breakfast sandwich but they were out of sriracha.... Well I want to say. I am sorry to the guy who was at the drive thru window because, even though everything I wanted you were out of which wasn't your fault, I blamed you! Came here at night with my partner to get a quick drink. Service was quick and efficient. I decided to try their iced matcha latte since I heard that they changed their recipe. Instead of having sugar mixed with their matcha powder, they use simple syrup to sweeten the drink. Honestly, not a fan of the matcha latte because I taste more milk than the actual matcha itself. I wish I could give this location zero stars. This has happened multiple times--they close the restaurant because they're short-staffed. I prefer placing mobile orders so I can grab and go, especially when I go and do my morning walks to there, but instead I'm told I have to walk through the drive-thru. That's completely ridiculous. Is corporate Starbucks even aware that this location operates this way? Is this actually allowed? I'm not sure if she's the manager or a shift lead, but you'll know her by the sheer volume of her voice. I could hardly focus on studying because I could hear her yelling at employees through my airpods (through which I was BLASTING music). I've been here once a week for the past semester and I'm not sure if she realizes how much we can hear out in the lobby. Demanding and sharp, she runs this Starbucks like a drill sergeant. Employees yell "Good morning" or "Hi Welcome!" as loudly as possible at anyone who walks through the door and i'm not sure if it's out of fear or genuine kindness. It certainly feels like the former. My new favorite Starbucks location. Baristas are super nice and energetic. I love how they always greet when anyone comes in. The energy they provide is absolutely the best vibe I have not seen in years from Starbucks. They became sour and unpleasant in other locations. I don't know what it is, perhaps it's near by school so they understand people comes in here to study most of the time. I come here to study as well. So far, they've been really pleasant. Our family has been loyal Starbucks customers for years. Our son plays soccer just up the street, and we religiously make the 2-mile walk down here for coffee at least twice a week. Today, however, we were met with an unexpectedly unpleasant experience. The cashier, Ashley, refused to allow us to use the restroom until we made a purchase, as if doubting we would buy anything. This assumption was judgmental and disrespectful, especially toward regular customers. We left feeling unwelcome and disappointed--this is not the standard of hospitality we expect from Starbucks. read more

I think Starbucks food and drink is usually pretty solid, especially for how quickly it comes out. At this location there was a woman who was super friendly, funny, and brightened my mornings when I dreaded going to work. I don't see her anymore, and I hope it's because she is off doing amazing things! Overall, the customer service here is good with a few misses, usually from people who look like they're a little overwhelmed by demand. Not a terrible experience. I just hope they will do a better job at letting customers know when a menu item is not in stock. With all the technology in the world, we should be able to avoid a situation where a customer waits 10 minutes (for one of only 5 hot menu items they can eat), then is told the item is out of stock. We arrive at this store location at 2 am for the Bearcup merchandise since I'm pretty sure that have it since I saw it in the store yesterday. We did try to purchase it yesterday but one of the staff said that they're not allowed since the Bearcups will be launching today(Nov. 6) that We have to get in line Nov. 6 early in the morning and We did! We waited from 2am in line till they open at 5am. Surprisingly The staff and the manager insisted that they dont have the bearcups in stock and delivery has not been made at this location! But We insited that We saw the Bearcups the day before the launching date. Little that We know They gave 1 customer that they sell the bearcup. And when We told them that We are in line earlier this morning too . The Manager said that they only have 1 in stock! While they keep on saying earlier that they didn't receive any shipment for the bearcups! Worst experience ever! read more

I'm not going to lie, I was kinda disappointed at first that the closed down Burger King location ended up becoming a Starbucks, because, you know, there's a mini one on campus at Mt. SAC & Cal Poly, one across the tracks from Cal Poly, and one down Grand at the village. Starbucks-ification is real. However, as clogged as the drive thru is here (when is it ever not clogged at any Starbucks), going in and ordering was actually pretty quick. Customer service was efficient and very friendly. There was a small sign at the pick up area with a barista's name, their fav drinks, and a neat fact about them. Liked that small personable aspect. I got the pistachio frappucino here, no whipped cream. It's no different from when I get it at other locations, but still really good. This was pre-COVID, but if there are any deals, or free cups, etc. This place will run out. Too close to campus and a surrounding neighborhood, so the Starbucks crazy individuals have already swooped in. read more

The drive thru had become surprisingly VERY slow over the last month, esp when I'm up at the window waiting to pay, then waiting even longer for my order. I have had some really nice experiences with a few of their employees, I wish I could remember their names to send them praise! Update: they're slow on the inside too. At least 2 minutes have passed and nobody acknowledged that customers (myself and another guest) have been standing at the register. Is this location consistently severely understaffed? Or do the employees have their drink order priorities out of order? Additionally, a young male employee who took my order in the drive thru failed to notify me that they had run out of whipped cream upon ordering. Instead he handed me my beverage without whipped cream, and proceeded to charge me the full price anyway. Went in the drive thru on Friday around 1:30 and omg it was so quick! There were maybe 4 or 5 cars in front of me and I thought it was going to take a while, but I ordered and got my drink in about a minute! The guy in the grey shirt working the drive thru was also very friendly. If you want to feel unwelcome and not be bothered with at all with even a hello, this is THE location to get your morning coffee. I grew up in Walnut and was excited when they first turned the old Burger King to a Starbucks closer to home. It used to be so nice here when everything was so clean and the friendly baristas were happy to be working. This was one of my favorite Starbucks. I then moved to Arcadia and stopped coming here for a few years. Not sure what happened but when I had to temporarily move back to Walnut for one month and visited this location, everything seemed to have gone downhill. No one greets you here. Heck, you have to thank THEM for taking your order. I thought they didn't like me but then I noticed they treat ALL other customers the same way. The baristas seems pissed off all day, every day. I once showed up for my daily coffee and noticed a huge spill at the front entrance. It was so bad that another customer had almost slipped on her way out. As a past business owner, I know what a huge liability for the company if anyone slips and gets injured, so I went inside and tried to tell someone working behind the counter - two of them pretended not to hear me, and when one finally responded, she seemed super upset that she had to go mop the floor. Wow. Another incident was when I showed up on the day they were giving out the complimentary Red cup for the start of the holiday season. I'm a daily Starbucks drinker and have been since I was 19 in the 90s so my goal that morning was to just grab my coffee - not for the cup. I placed my mobile order for self pick but as I was approaching the counter, a female barista rudely told me "We are having a promotion today and your drink may take a while so if you don't want to wait, I can give you a refund." No hello, no apologies, just straight out didn't want my business even though I did not even complain as I had just got there and not knowing at the time they were having a promotion until she told me. This place really sucks. I've been to Starbucks all over different cities for the past 20+ years and this is the only one I really dislike. If you are unhappy, don't be in customer service where you are the FIRST face most people may see. You may ruin the rest of their day.
