I've occasionally visited the drive thru for this Starbucks early in the morning this year and I've been at other times too since I live in the area. In general, Starbucks isn't a great fit for me because (1) I drink Black Iced Coffee and Starbucks' Black Iced Coffee often has a bit of a harsh flavor; and (2) many people who love and/or visit Starbucks have more complicated coffee orders and I end up waiting a long time even though my drink literally just needs to be poured into a cup. If they went to a pour yourself system for drinks like that, it would improve my experience quite a bit. When I can beat the crowds in the morning, it's an OK experience though. 2.5 Stars read more

Who doesn't love a good Starbucks fix?! Recently drive thru the Fenn Rd location. Although it was a pretty long wait in a long line of cars in the drive thru, I still love Starbucks!! Had to try out this fairly new location. Glad I did, I grabbed a Strawberry Açaí Lemonade. Sooo good!! And the barista in the drive thru was awesome!! So happy and warm and genuine! The service is ok, but the parking is an issue. Every morning, people park in the handicapped spaces with no permits. I have a permit and can't park there because of inconsiderate people. On Friday, some girl raced to park on the hash lines, which is not a parking space, and almost took my door off. I tell the staff to at least put a sign on the door, and they don't care. I hope the owner of the lot sees this and can somehow enforce this. Maybe when the police start issueing tickets for this, people will learn. Have some damn consideration. read more

Starbucks has risen to be more than just my coffee fueling station... with protein boxes and filling sandwiches, this has now become a regular stop for breakfast and lunch as well. I usually come to this location to have a cuppa Joe with my husband before heading home from work. My husband on the other hand is a regular...how do I know?? His patronage has got him a head start on his orders as the baristas see him walk through the doors. lol! saves him a few seconds in the mornings. The service is awesome and baristas are welcoming. I've been here a few times, and I've got to say, I think I'll just stick to the one by my house. The drive thru lane is always super long, and the employees working are always short with you and not friendly. They were out of all the breakfast sandwiches except for the steak and eggs wrap, so I said whatever, I'll get that then, no biggie. Big mistake. But this evening one of the baristas, young lady with dread locks was rude; when I asked if she can add the chocolate syrup to the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frap (it comes with the drink). The location of this Starbucks is perfect and the service is very good. Drive-thru works extremely efficiently. Ordering in can back up some on picking your drink up but ordering is quick and honestly the wait is never that bad. It's also probably a little delayed (maybe) 20% of the time. Drinks themselves and friendliness are always great! If I were looking to lounge this probably would not be the shop I'd stop at however if I was looking for a quick order, drive-thru, online order, or even a comfortable storefront to ponder the menu I'd go to this Starbucks one every time. read more

It's hard to believe that until a couple of weeks ago there was not a single place on the Berlin Turnpike to get my Starbucks caffeine fix. Luckily someone finally realized it might be a good idea to provide people with coffee options other then the plethora of Dunkin Donuts strewn about the strip. This l and opened up a store conveniently near the local Stew Leonard's, LA Fitness, Sam's Club and Toys R Us, all of which do a pretty brisk business. I was doing errands and took my coffee "to-go" but I noticed that they had several outdoor seating options and inside of the store seems to be modeled after their new "cafeteria" style set up. Menu was easy to read with the standard Starbucks offerings but I was disappointed I could not get a Trenta Iced Americano - I had to settle with a Venti with an extra shot (I know #firstworldproblems). My only other "complaint" is that the employees are still newbies. Once I drove around to grab and pay for my Americano, I had to wait a bit for my order. Apparently they are still training their employees and although I do appreciate good customer service, I appreciate fast service (especially when using the drive thru) more. I will give it some time - all good things come to those who wait! read more

So many starbucks locations, so little time.... I was pleasantly surprised to find this location here, it was very new and of course I had to try it out! Getting into the parking lot is a challenge. Yikes. People fail to stop at the stop signs posted around the parking lot. Besides, parking itself can be tricky, it just seems that there aren't enough parking spaces. Bonus points: drive through! Bonus points: outside seating area. The inside of the store is awesome, bright, and roomy. The baristas are friendly. Occasionally wait times can be a little bit long, but worth the wait just be patient. Bathroom is clean and fresh. I have definitely been back since they've opened, and yet the biggest downfall remains the parking situation. Maybe once the rest of the construction in that area is completed, the parking situation will get better. read more

This was my first ever trip to Starbucks! *GASP* I met a girlfriend here after she got off work, she likes Starbucks, I gave it a try. Unlike a lot of other yelpers, I did not experience a long wait, slow or bad service, and everything was very nice. I don't really drink too much coffee and I wanted something to cool me off a bit so I went with a Mango Black Tea Lemonade (say that 3X fast!!). I watched the young man make it and he actually added quite a few different things into my cup, it's not like other places where they just put the cup under a spout and hit the lemonade button. My friend got her caramel mocha frappe chino whosy whatsit thingy, and we went and sat down. This place has a very casual, take your time, feel about it when you are sitting down, sipping what you ordered, and chatting. There are people sitting on the couch with their earbuds in and laptops out, a there is this overall "we want you to hang out here" vibe going on. The store is very clean. While I was there I watched the floors get thoroughly swept and the windows washed. The case where the sandwiches and danishes are displayed was also neat and clean. This is a very nice location, with a drive thu, and it was a very nice first impression of the franchise. read more

So let me start out by saying that I have been promising to write this review for a long time. Not about Starbucks but just a Yelp review in general. My wife is Yelp Elite and I have been riding her coat tails for a long time going to different events as her "+1" and with every event the famous last words "This will be my first Yelp review" are uttered, and for one reason or another said review never comes. Until today... There was no Yelp event at this Starbucks, and I am sure that there is probably some faux pas about your first Yelp review being about a Starbucks. However I do not care. Coming from the Midwest where there are Starbucks a plenty, and baristas who know you by name and have your drink ready for you when they see you walk in (Those places do exist!) To the east coast and the land of Dunkin Donuts, where one must drive mostly out of the way to grab a cup of Starbucks. I am so glad that this Starbucks has now opened a mere 5-10 minute drive from where I work. It is brand new, a great inviting atmosphere, plenty of seating and of course all the Starbucks coffee and merchandise one could want. The staff was friendly, while they learn the ropes, the service was initially a little rough, but hey I will cut them some slack as it is a new location and people are getting trained in. I can see this place becoming a staple of the Berlin Turnpike, and a staple for me as I conduct meetings (it helps that a Chipotle will be opening next door soon...kill two birds with one stone) So I know this review is totally biased, and one sided and shows my complete and utter love for the business, and I am okay with that. If you need a cup of coffee that will truly get you "running" then stop by Starbucks and on the Berlin Turnpike, grab yourself a Venti, Iced, Black coffee and take a minute to soak it all in before you continue on the rest of your day. I was just there today 1/31/20 and had the worst experience as a customer ever from a barista named kimmi and a manager named josh. I don't feel it is right they were trying to up-charge(over charge) me. As well as they kept correcting me in such a rude way I didn't even want the coffee they were gonna just give to me for free. I go to starbucks every day at the minimum 2 times a day and order the same drink. I never have problems with how I get my drink but for some reason today they decided to ruin it. I have always had a love hate relationship with the passive aggressive ways in which these people run this location. From them doing stuff like completely turning off the lights at closing ... With no warning ... To them taking forever for to acknowledge me at the counter. I've just had a hard time with this location despite the fact that it's a nice-looking, comfortable, modern and very clean store. Well, after spending almost $20 here today... Over the past 3 hours. I went to my car... Which was dead. I came back inside and asked them if I could hang out be the door for a few minutes to wait for my mom and roadside assistance. .... Tonight happened to be the coldest day this winter ... The gentleman was like "sure, yeah ... you can hang out for a few minutes". However, the woman behind the counter made it a point to lecture me and DEMAND for me to tell her precisely how long it would take for my mom/roadside assistance to arrive. (I live about 3.5 away from this Starbucks location... on the border of meriden and berlin). I was kinda shocked by the authoritative tone that the woman took with me ... just, really 'over the top' unnecessary. I responded by saying, "I dunno, however long it take to drive 3 miles? And my mom is already on her way ... so maybe 5 more minutes?". The woman then continued on lecturing me about insurance liability of counting the drawer to close up the store with me inside (... as if they hadn't handled ANY money... during the 3 hours I sat in the store drinking coffee and hot chocolate?? You've GOT to be kidding!!!! LOL!!). She then said "you're going to have to wait outside if it takes longer than 5 or 10 minutes". wow ... shall I remind you that it was ... in fact ... the coldest night of the entire year? (-2 F, wind chill -35 F.. see pictures, took it when I got home!!!). I'm curious to know if she would have responded the same way had I been one of her friends ... or her family member? (... I have visited this location enough and have noticed the fanfare and excited ways in which staff greet their friends/classmates who stop by for a cup of coffee.) ... no, but really. How would she have felt if her friend, mom or sister was told to wait outside... in -35F weather? Needless to say... roadside assistance arrived at 10:38 (the store closed at 10:30... i had this conversation with the woman at precisely 10:34). My car was jump started and I was on my way home at 10:47 .... and I was nestled on by couch before 11pm. I still think that sometimes it's nice to exercise a little compassion and empathy... I was literally asking for a few moments of warmth because I was stranded. I hope that she never finds herself in my situation and has to receive the same type of lecture she gave me for a situation that was out of her control. Her conduct was really ... Not sure how I can find a way to rejoice about this Starbucks being here without rubbing you Dunkinites the wrong way...but I'll just leave it at sweetly saying I'm so glad this location is here. Coming from Chitown, I had access to at least 10 Starbucks on my 7 mile drive to work...including the one across the street from our apartment. I totally use to take that for granted that it'd always be there, and now I live in a place where I have to drive 15 minutes to get to my beloved coffeehouse. Until NOW...I have a reason to do more shopping on the Berlin Turnpike! With a tall, iced, hazelnut macchiato in my hand I am unstoppable. I love their breakfast sandwiches, and the coffee goes without saying - *winks at signature drink*. You have no excuse now to try out Starbucks...you don't even have to get your buns out of the car...they have a drive thru! And if you're looking to use that "their coffee is burnt" excuse...say no more. I actually don't really like the Pikes Place roast because at times, yes, it's too bold for me. But that's just the flavor profile of that blend...it's not burnt...and that's the beauty of Starbucks...they have OPTIONS when it comes to different blends & roasts of coffee. If your looking for a lighter roast, try the Blonde Roast! And they also have different blends for different seasons - my personal favorite being the Casi Cielo. The words "casi cielo" mean almost heaven...and that's what this Starbucks is here on the corner of the Berlin Turnpike....ahhhhhhhh! read more

This new location was still very clean and had the updated décor, like the Corbins Corner location. I was there for five minutes, but I could see myself studying there or getting lost in a book. Breaks my heart to give this Starbucks a two star because it's one of the nicest looking Starbucks I've ever been to. To start off with the good: the interior is very nice. The decor is very trendy and it has a very large seating area. It's also in a good location--off of a major road and surrounded by plenty of shopping points of interest. Unfortunately for this Starbucks, the good was not enough to outweigh the poor service. Such. A. Long. Wait. Ugh. My friend and I ordered right after one another. However, it took about 7 minutes for my drink to come out after his. The drink I ordered was not of high complexity. Additionally, our cups were not full! They left about them about 1/8 empty, more of an annoyance than anything. The staff are always friendly and have noticed that on certain holidays that staff even dress the occasion, very cool. This location is very clean and is a great spot for relaxing with some coffee and maybe a little snack from the window. I am tea person and always enjoy my classic here, as its always made right. Anne always enjoys her coffee; there are a few steps to making her coffee the correct way and staff always get it right. Check it out. The first new Starbucks in Connecticut in a couple of years has just opened on the Berlin Turnpike and it's a doozy. I found this by accident and stopped in for a tall bold and quick inspection. This smartly designed, brand-spanking new Starbucks with its attentive cheerful staff and drive-thru window is a much appreciated addition to those in the area which have started to look tired despite recent renovations. There's even a small patio out front to sit and the view the traffic roaring along the Berlin Turnpike if that's your idea of chilling out. Better yet, inside is an ocean of coffee-infused tranquility and the best part - for me anyway - is the back of the store where they've got four very comfortable leather chairs and no shortage of power outlets to surf and sip as you enjoy your drink. read more

Nice fancy new Starbucks where there was once a strip club (hey Howard, didn't you do that in Westport at Krazy Vins?) .. Parking lot is a bit jacked up right now, as they are still building the Chipotle next door and there are trucks and construction shenanigans going on amidst the vicinity. I have not been to a Starbucks in quite a while and I now remember why. I paid close to $6 for a grande iced soy mocha .. the cup was 50% ice.. but that isn't really my main gripe .. Starbucks uses their own formulated soy milk (that was vanilla flavored? i didn't order vanilla milk in my mocha.. but whatev) that i thought didn't have the problem of other commercial off the shelf soy milks - when you add it to coffee of a certain temperature or acidity it turns into chunks of soy that look like curdled milk. The bottom of my cup as covered with this curdled soy and when I asked Carlos, the Barista he said that he drinks soy exclusively and it always happens and he offered to remake the drink for me, but I of course realized he would use the same over roasted acidic coffee and the same specially formulated Starbucks soy milk and it would be the same temperature and thus would also curdle so I took my $5.37 cup of coffee tainted with soy curds and was on my merrily disgusted way. By far the worst Starbucks. All the employees were clueless and didn't know how to make drinks. We sat at the bar for a bit and for that few minutes there was other complaints. I ordered my coffee, tasted awful, and my bf ordered a venti cappuccino and about 1-2" of coffee and the rest foam. Since I couldn't even drink my nasty coffee he went back up to order me a soy caramel frap. Now, I get these all the time, and this one, THE WORST tasting one ever. It's like coffee beans and water.
