However, I was met and left with a bad taste in my mouth. No pun intended. The female employee (short hair/glasses) was not the friendliest person, even after I tried being overly nice. I don't know if she was having a bad day or just hates males in general but not a good representation of a place I was eagerly awaiting to try. I first asked if there was a difference in drinks from what was on the menu and up on the board above. She answered snarky, "if it's up on the board and on the menu it's the same" Mind you, one said latte and the other did not, hence the question. I opted with what I normally get. She took my order and then while looking down, stated, "2% milk okay" I said sure then asked if whole was available. You would've thought I had asked for her to go milk the cow and bring it back. She was very annoyed, so I said 2% is fine. I paid for my coffee then stood and watched her began preparing it. I saw her add one quick pump of syrup so I said, could I maybe have one more pump. Again, you would've thought I was about to suck them dry of all syrup. She seemed annoyed and looked at the register and began to say what I assume was they charge for extra, so I quickly said never mind. All in all I was disappointed with my interaction. The coffee was good and the wrap was okay but I dunno if I'd go back.

Although they are best known for their gelato, do not sleep on their coffee. Their coffee is some of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere is nice and modern. It makes for a perfect place to relax and enjoy your gelato or your coffee. Not only is the shop tastefully decorated, but it is also clean as well. The owner, Brian, is one of the most genuine, friendly, and welcoming guys I have ever met. Every time I walk into the shop, he greets me with a warm smile and asks how my day is going. Whenever the shop is not busy, I have enjoyed many friendly conversations with him while enjoying my gelato and/or coffee. I can tell that he cares about customers having a wonderful experience in his shop. I highly recommend Gourmet Gelato and Coffee to anyone in the Phoenix area looking for an excellent gelato shop. Are they actually getting coffee beans out of Yemen right now? The menu didn't really feature Turkish Style Coffee as the forward offering. The employees were not rude or anything, but they, they were slow at making coffee. They also didn't know how to make coffee either. Pulling and espresso shot is easy, pouring a latte is not. and Moka & Co brewed a Cortado that was clearly just an espresso shot with some steamed milk glopped on top...which I've had that happen before at places that only have paper cups. BUT if you care about brewing coffee, you will pour a microfoam head in paper just as you would in ceramic. What's worse is that the coffee just tasted like dirt, if this is Yemeni coffee, it's bad. Seemed like there was potential here, but it was a waste of a morning when there are so many great coffee places in the core, we just need more of them in the East Valley. Unfortunately Moka & Co is just marketing and not a quality coffee shop.

I am never disappointed when I frequent this coffee shop. I was looking at the menu and they now serve small meals for breakfast. I have celiac disease so I can't eat anything that was on the menu, but I do like that they offer something for those who might want something to eat with their drink. This establishment is very clean, sunny and inviting. I will definitely be back. I don't see my friend that often but when we do get together, we always have coffee at Pura Vida Grinds.
