Amazing coffee, amazing service. Loved the atmosphere too. Best coffee shop in town hands down.

My friend and I went to this lovely little coffee shop this morning at 8. The young man behind the counter was so nice to me. I ordered an iced decaf coffee with oat milk. I had reward points so I was able to get it for free today. The place was sunny, fairly quiet, so I could hear my friend. The coffee was delicious as usual. I am never disappointed when I frequent this coffee shop. I was looking at the menu and they now serve small meals for breakfast. I have celiac disease so I can't eat anything that was on the menu, but I do like that they offer something for those who might want something to eat with their drink. This establishment is very clean, sunny and inviting. I will definitely be back. I don't see my friend that often but when we do get together, we always have coffee at Pura Vida Grinds. I guess that's our spot! read more

The coffee here is amazing and a great caffeine boost! Strong. To the owners- highly recommend investing in a small menu of 2 to 4 house made syrups. Would be a game changer. The cold foam recipe could use a reworking. It was air bubble-y and could only really taste the bottled syrup taste which is always distinct. Without house made syrup, it's like a Dutch bros but with better coffee beans. Regardless clearly their menu is working for them! Inside is nice and big could sit and work if you wanted. read more

One of my favorite coffee shops, I just wish they were closer to me! I love their cold brew and I always buy coffee beans when I go in because they are the absolute best! The owners are so nice and the order typically comes up pretty quickly so you're not waiting around too long. They do have some merchandise to look at while you wait. They have plenty of seats from indoor/outdoor chairs, couches, etc. it's very comfy and inviting! read more

Angela and Lobo are the best! They are the most genuine couple I've ever met and so hard-working. Sarah and Bella are great barista's also. Their coffee is absolutely amazing!!! my favorite is the payday, It's a peanut butter coffee and I like that you can get it in the bucket size 32 ounce. My husband likes to get the Lobo. Their cold brew is amazing as well. You can buy bottles of it to go. They have such wonderful items from Costa Rica . I love their flip-flops, and have beautiful bracelets. Please check them out. You will not be disappointed. read more

This place is awesome!!! I am an "Anti Starbies" IF I can find good coffee elsewhere and I was in a pinch and in a hurry but in the area and SO GLAD I found this place. Beans from COSTA RICA?? YES PLEASE. Mom and Pop actually work there? YES PLEASE. The "mom" owner was friendly and smiled and welcomed me ( I know that seems small but I feel like that small gesture is HUGE in this day and age). I bought a bag of coffee and I wish I bought the ginormous one. I got an iced vanilla latte 1/4 sweet and it was pure goodness. COME HERE. read more

Great coffee for a great price! I've also tried their teas and I am a fan. Very kind service. The place is decorated well and shows some really cool Costa Rican culture. read more

Wowww I don't know where to start with. I personally love the island vibe from my work experiences in the Caribbean and this charming spot just remind me about those days. As soon as you walked in to the shop, the atmosphere so welcoming and inviting you, and right away you feel relax with the big smiles from the friendly service at the order counter staffs. I tried the caramel latte and it's absolutely fantastic! Also the coconut bread gave my coffee time even better. The owner is passionate to share their coffee beans Costa Rican culture through the coffee shop so people can enjoy and feel what they love about it - I loved it! I would highly recommend anyone who is in the area to come and try their delicious coffee and sandwiches - experience the island vibe yourself ! For me, I would definitely be back again soon. read more

Y'all, I have found my new favorite place, hands down! The service (I believe just done by the husband and wife) was quick and accommodating. They allowed me to get my drink to enjoy and pay for the drink I would be taking to a friend when I was ready to leave. They have mugs if you plan to sit around to enjoy. Just make sure you ask for them otherwise you'll get the typical to-go paper cup. The chai wasn't too sweet or spicy, I'll have to ask how they make it or if it's a typical store bought pour like most coffee shops have. On my way out, I bought the cinnamon crumb cake with Nutella and let me say, I might have to convince them to make that a regular menu item. Probably the BEST cinnamon crumb cake I've ever had and then add Nutella...yummmmm! The space is a little cozy but the volume of the music and the quiet hum of them making drinks makes it a perfect spot to sit and enjoy some time. read more

I've been coming to Pura Vida for a few months now and I love them! My first time becoming a "regular" with a "usual" and I'm glad it's with this family business. I tried the Bliss for the first time and it was 10/10 - never disappointed in service or quality even when I switch up my usual order! read more

I love family owned businesses, especially cafes. This place was homey, and the staff were very nice. We ordered the pvg breakfast sammy and the empanadas with charizo(edited). I really enjoyed the red chile bun on the Sammy, and the rest of the ingredients were simple but well done. The empanada were also very good, once again it was simple but great flavor. For drinks we got a mocha and a dirty chai. The dirty chai had a good, strong chai flavor, but the mocha was a little lack luster. I'm not a fan of just mixing chocolate milk and espresso, it always tastes a little off to me. Overall, I'd recommend giving this family owned cafe a try. read more

I came to this cafe with a friend and ordered a cold brew with whole milk and a bagel sandwich. The prices are quite high and I don't feel the coffee nor the sandwich was worth what I paid after I was done. PRO: they use local milk in glass. CON: high prices and the cold brew coffee tasted watered down. I wouldn't get it again. Service was ok. Not bad or rude but not very friendly or helpful either with menu. Conclusion: I would go back and try their hot coffee instead. It's an ok place to chat with a friend, the ambiance is mid. Not as great as other cafes but not outright bad. Just very mid. read more

Excellent little coffee shop and it is Family owned. Great coffee and I also like their chicken sausage burritos. Very nice inside seating and also outside seating. There is always a food truck outside with either the waffle food truck or El Begolero. The customer service is always top notch. One of my favorite coffee places. read more

Enjoyed my caramel macchiato from Pura Vida Grinds! The perfect coffee and milk ratio. Just the right sweetness. I requested to cut the sweetness in half and it was perfect. The place itself was busy for a Sunday morning. They offer food and coffee beans and a great variety of merch. The store itself is a bit small especially when it's busy. We sat outside on the patio. Regardless, I'd come back again and maybe pick up some coffee beans. read more

The coffee is great the people are nice and the atmosphere is amazing. what more could one ask for. definitely will be coming back.

Stopped by Pura Vida Grinds while in Mesa and really enjoyed the vibe. It's a Costa Rica-influenced coffee shop, and you can definitely feel the laid-back, pura vida energy as soon as you walk in. I ordered the dirty chai and the Lobo blended. The dirty chai had a nice balance--smooth chai spice with a solid espresso kick. The Lobo was rich, creamy, and just sweet enough without being over the top. The space is cozy and chill, perfect for hanging out or getting a little work done. Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations too. read more

My husband and I work from home fulltime and are always looking for new coffee/breakfast spots. PuraVida has delicious bagels with cream cheese and tomato, and I also got a cold brew with cold foam. You can taste the difference in their coffee quality for sure. The baristas are super friendly and kind, and a fun spot to just sit and work. Lots of locals visiting all the time. Highly recommend! read more

Well, it has been a long time since I've been back here. But my husband and I came by to get some coffee and bagels. We ordered the Cherry Green Tea and The Lobo (caramel mocha). Both were refreshing for this hot morning and had a great flavor. There's plenty of seating inside and a great vibe. The owners are so nice! It's always good to have options on caffeine in the East Valley! read more

I came to this place with my family because we wanted to try something new! We did not get to see the inside of the establishment as they are currently under renovation, however they are still serving guests. The employee was super sweet! She made great suggestions and was able to answer all our questions. The employee was also very knowledgeable about Costa Rica, which is nice considering it's a Costa Rica based coffee spot. I personally had the cookies coffee. It was very yummy, did not taste too roasty. It was a bit lighter of a taste which I like for my coffee. For those with kiddos, there are caffeine free options! My 4-year-old got a cookies flavored milk to drink. She gave it a thumbs up The prices at this place are also very nice! We ordered 4 drinks for a total of $22! That was a surprise considering other places we pay a lot more. We will definitely be returning to this place! I am excited to explore the menu more and hopefully see the place after renovations are completed read more

Yummy yummy drinks and great customer service. Always very sweet. The drinks are great

I make it a point to find local coffee shops when I'm traveling and I am so happy I found this spot. This place did not disappoint, the coffee was delicious & the gallo pinto was divine. As a Costa Rican the gallo pinto transported me to when my grandma used to make it. I felt like I was back in CR while I was enjoying my breakfast. The staff was so friendly, and they answered any questions I had. Thank you for bringing CR to AZ read more

Sad, I thought this place would be better (4.9 Stars?). The coffee wasn't terrible but the sugar free flavoring tasted like straight aspartame. The coffee was pretty bland and not a very big size for the price. I wouldn't get Pura Vida again. read more

What a fun food truck that I was able to try at the Lost Dutchman Marathon. The prickly pear tea was excellent and loved they could tailor the sweetness with different sugar and sugar alternative options. The owner was assisting with order taking, and was super friendly. Loved that they had a condiment station even with being a food truck. The ambiance of the Superstition Mountains in the background with excellent iced tea to quench your thirst was perfect. Hope to see them at more events to try more of their menu! read more

"Pura Vida mis amigos y Bienvenidos! A surprise awaits you as you step into another country through the doors of this cafe. "Pura Vida" is your standard greeting in Spanish for anyone from Costa Rica. Pura Vida is a coffee spot, but also a colorful welcome to Central America with decor and souvenirs from the country. If you have ever visited another country, you are not only a guest to their business, but often a guest introduced to their family. As you enter this business, you're being welcomed and introduced to the Costa Rican culture and a family. As I traversed the front entry area and the long hallway, I was greeted by many items that teach you about the country and culture of Costa Rica. I arrived at the "second entrance" that opened up to a small warehouse that was creatively decorated to appear smaller and housed a seating area, and the storefront which included a coffee cart. Whenever I visit a new coffee shop, I'll try the black coffee because I'm a purist and if the beans aren't right, then the coffee will be bitter and acidic. this coffee was smooth and enjoyable, so home if you add any cream or flavored syrups, it will not be masking the flavor of the Costa Rican roast. also, don't forget to try their pastries, especially the coconut buns. This is a family run business, and I hope they do well, I know they will see me there more often, and I'll be sure to tell others about this hidden oasis. Also, don't forget they close early at 2 PM. read more
