I had been out of state for three years so when I came back, my friend and I went back to Pura Vida Grinds for morning coffee. The place had changed a lot! It was newly renovated, had a nice seating area in the front, which is where we sat. The iced coffee is so good, with many selections of extras such as vanilla flavoring, oat, soy or coconut milk for those of us who cannot have dairy. The lady who took my order was super nice, friendly and helpful. Aside from the sidewalk outside, it is handicap accessible, if someone holds the door open for you to come in with your wheelchair. It wasn't loud and the place was nice and sunny. The coffee was just as delicious as I remembered from 3 years ago. We will definitely be returning for coffee because the ambiance, the coffee and the service were excellent. read more

One of my favorite coffee shops, I just wish they were closer to me! I love their cold brew and I always buy coffee beans when I go in because they are the absolute best! The owners are so nice and the order typically comes up pretty quickly so you're not waiting around too long. They do have some merchandise to look at while you wait. They have plenty of seats from indoor/outdoor chairs, couches, etc. it's very comfy and inviting! read more

Wowww I don't know where to start with. I personally love the island vibe from my work experiences in the Caribbean and this charming spot just remind me about those days. As soon as you walked in to the shop, the atmosphere so welcoming and inviting you, and right away you feel relax with the big smiles from the friendly service at the order counter staffs. I tried the caramel latte and it's absolutely fantastic! Also the coconut bread gave my coffee time even better. The owner is passionate to share their coffee beans Costa Rican culture through the coffee shop so people can enjoy and feel what they love about it - I loved it! I would highly recommend anyone who is in the area to come and try their delicious coffee and sandwiches - experience the island vibe yourself ! Y'all, I have found my new favorite place, hands down! The service (I believe just done by the husband and wife) was quick and accommodating. They allowed me to get my drink to enjoy and pay for the drink I would be taking to a friend when I was ready to leave. They have mugs if you plan to sit around to enjoy. Just make sure you ask for them otherwise you'll get the typical to-go paper cup. The chai wasn't too sweet or spicy, I'll have to ask how they make it or if it's a typical store bought pour like most coffee shops have. On my way out, I bought the cinnamon crumb cake with Nutella and let me say, I might have to convince them to make that a regular menu item. Probably the BEST cinnamon crumb cake I've ever had and then add Nutella...yummmmm! The space is a little cozy but the volume of the music and the quiet hum of them making drinks makes it a perfect spot to sit and enjoy some time. read more

I love family owned businesses, especially cafes. This place was homey, and the staff were very nice. We ordered the pvg breakfast sammy and the empanadas with charizo(edited). I really enjoyed the red chile bun on the Sammy, and the rest of the ingredients were simple but well done. The empanada were also very good, once again it was simple but great flavor. For drinks we got a mocha and a dirty chai. The dirty chai had a good, strong chai flavor, but the mocha was a little lack luster. I'm not a fan of just mixing chocolate milk and espresso, it always tastes a little off to me. Overall, I'd recommend giving this family owned cafe a try. read more

I came to this cafe with a friend and ordered a cold brew with whole milk and a bagel sandwich. The prices are quite high and I don't feel the coffee nor the sandwich was worth what I paid after I was done. PRO: they use local milk in glass. CON: high prices and the cold brew coffee tasted watered down. I wouldn't get it again. Service was ok. Not bad or rude but not very friendly or helpful either with menu. Conclusion: I would go back and try their hot coffee instead. It's an ok place to chat with a friend, the ambiance is mid. Not as great as other cafes but not outright bad. Just very mid. read more

My husband and I work from home fulltime and are always looking for new coffee/breakfast spots. PuraVida has delicious bagels with cream cheese and tomato, and I also got a cold brew with cold foam. You can taste the difference in their coffee quality for sure. The baristas are super friendly and kind, and a fun spot to just sit and work. Lots of locals visiting all the time. The place itself was busy for a Sunday morning. They offer food and coffee beans and a great variety of merch. The store itself is a bit small especially when it's busy. We sat outside on the patio. I came to this place with my family because we wanted to try something new! We did not get to see the inside of the establishment as they are currently under renovation, however they are still serving guests. The employee was super sweet! She made great suggestions and was able to answer all our questions. The employee was also very knowledgeable about Costa Rica, which is nice considering it's a Costa Rica based coffee spot. I personally had the cookies coffee. It was very yummy, did not taste too roasty. It was a bit lighter of a taste which I like for my coffee. For those with kiddos, there are caffeine free options! My 4-year-old got a cookies flavored milk to drink. She gave it a thumbs up The prices at this place are also very nice! We ordered 4 drinks for a total of $22! That was a surprise considering other places we pay a lot more. We will definitely be returning to this place! What a fun food truck that I was able to try at the Lost Dutchman Marathon. The prickly pear tea was excellent and loved they could tailor the sweetness with different sugar and sugar alternative options. The owner was assisting with order taking, and was super friendly. Loved that they had a condiment station even with being a food truck. The ambiance of the Superstition Mountains in the background with excellent iced tea to quench your thirst was perfect. If you have ever visited another country, you are not only a guest to their business, but often a guest introduced to their family. As you enter this business, you're being welcomed and introduced to the Costa Rican culture and a family. As I traversed the front entry area and the long hallway, I was greeted by many items that teach you about the country and culture of Costa Rica. I arrived at the "second entrance" that opened up to a small warehouse that was creatively decorated to appear smaller and housed a seating area, and the storefront which included a coffee cart. Whenever I visit a new coffee shop, I'll try the black coffee because I'm a purist and if the beans aren't right, then the coffee will be bitter and acidic. this coffee was smooth and enjoyable, so home if you add any cream or flavored syrups, it will not be masking the flavor of the Costa Rican roast. also, don't forget to try their pastries, especially the coconut buns. This is a family run business, and I hope they do well, I know they will see me there more often, and I'll be sure to tell others about this hidden oasis.
