This First St location used to be my regular stop on the days I work in Livermore, but ever since they moved into the new building where Burger King used to be it hasnt been the same. It takes way way way too long to get your drink, there is zero welcoming or customer service. The girl I often see making drinks looks like she hates her job and barely mumbles out a name when she places a drink on the counter. I waited a long time for the last drink I ordered there and then watched her make it wrong, but I had already waited so long for it and I had to get to work that I accepted as is. It was so sweet I couldn't even finish half of it, she put the syrup pumps in and then forgot she did and added more instead of starting over. I even saw her stop and pause and look at it to see if she could tell if it had the syrup pumps. I also watched her drop a spoon on the floor and pick it up and set it on the counter right where she was making stuff before telling someone else it fell on the floor. Wonderful location taking over the old Burger King just across the driveway. Excellent seating inside with a variety of tables and chair types. Plenary of parking space in the lot. Full drive-thru which the old location did not have. Still not far from Highway 580 on North First Street for easy access. Staff is busy and on top of everything. I'm not sure what Starbucks' current policy is regarding customers who sit without making a purchase, but I wanted to share an incident that was described to me by someone I know. According to them, two people came to this location to do some work and felt they were being racially profiled because they hadn't ordered anything. They said an employee named Angela approached their table and told them they would need to make a purchase or leave. They also said they looked around and noticed other people sitting in the cafe who had not ordered anything but were not asked to leave. In addition, they said Angela refused to provide a cup of water to a young man who is a minor. If this account is accurate, I hope Starbucks looks into the situation to ensure all customers are treated fairly and consistently. read more

As daily customers who visit Starbucks multiple times a day, we were extremely disappointed with the way we were treated today. We frequently place large office orders and spend our lunch breaks enjoying the outdoor seating, bringing consistent business to this location. Today, we were told that if we did not have a mobile order, we needed to leave the outdoor seating area. The interaction felt unwelcoming and disrespectful, especially considering how loyal we've been as customers over time. We understand policies may exist, but there's a respectful way to communicate with paying customers. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling unwelcome and undervalued. We hope management addresses how customers are spoken to moving forward because loyal customers should not be treated this way. read more

Normally, I don't need a coffee on a Saturday night at 8 PM, but last Last Saturday night, I was in Livermore, did not get a lot of sleep the night before, was on my feet all day walking around on a ship in Alameda, and needed to drive non-stop to Los Angeles ASAP. I was exhausted! I really did not think I could make it--I was barely functioning. So I stopped in this Starbucks and told the woman about my situation and she said I have exactly what you need to make it to Los Angeles without a wink. I don't know what she did, she cooked up some kind of hot coffee potion and whewwwwww....that drink powered me up like I have never seen before. Not only did I have unprecedented energy to make it to Los Angeles, but when I got there at 2 AM, I walked around in the street for 30 minutes to get myself tired again--and there was still 1/4 a cup left! I gave this Starbucks a couple of chances- because I wanted to like it, but the servers here are just not very nice. I'm 3 for 3 with rude servers here- and so are my kids. I wish this location was better, because it's convenient and close to the freeway, but if I want attitude, I'll phone my mom. I don't need it at Starbucks. It's a Starbucks, but the location is convenient for post-Safeway shopping adventures. As usual, ordered a soy chai latte; my hot go-to beverage for any coffee shop. Although Starbucks is good, I do think Peets makes it better. But I had a gift card, so I'm not complaining about what is essentially free beverages. It's a big store, probably one of the bigger ones I've been too! There is ample seating, and often people chilling with their lap tops. I have been going to this store for over seven years and usually have a good experience. For the past year, whenever Diane has been working it has not been pleasant. She is incredibly rude to customers and I've witnessed her yell at customers and loudly talk about them after they leave. I've been coming to this store once or twice a week for 18 months, but now almost every day. I've seen a lot of different faces behind the counter, and most seem genuinely friendly and enjoy helping customers. I really like that and I try to crack a joke when the opportunity presents itself because these brief interactions should be fun for everyone. It also makes me feel good about tipping them. My complaint is that, for whatever reason, the cashier these last two days hasn't been filling my Venti cup all the way. I specify "no room" and she hasn't been filling it to the top as all the others generally do. She also seems to be averting her eyes as she slides my brewed coffee over to me. After picking up my drink and walking away I can tell from the weight that it wasn't fully filled. I would have gone back and requested a top-off, but by then a line had formed. This cashier isn't new to this store, but I haven't seen her in a long while, so maybe she normally works a different shift. Starbucks: please remind your employees that "no room" means "no room"!
