My girlfriend and I found Musubi Libre on our search for some kind of musubi plug here in the Bay Area, and after our first order we're actually such big fans of Musubi Libre. We ordered almost every single variation of the custom teriyaki Spam musubi, and every single one was so well made and packed with so much flavor (my favorite was the tamago musubi). The musubis were packaged well and honestly were reminiscent of the musubi cafes you'd find in Hawaii, which is exactly what we were searching for. They only do takeout for now and Leonard the owner brings out the orders to your car himself. He was super friendly and welcoming, and I got a chance to hear about his vision for Musubi Libre and I am even more of a fan because of it. So since my last review, I've tried a couple other places that sell Onigiri around Bay Area. And I would have to say, my opinion still stands. Leonard's Onigiris are top notch. We were feeling a smaller snack/light lunch and settled on musubis - a GREAT decision. You order through toast (should be linked above) and then they make your food fresh to order. They sent us directions to pick up in the back, but we got a little lost. Leonard, the owner, came out to find us and introduced himself and shared a little about the food and their projects. He was such a nice guy with big plans for the food! Into the food itself - The tuna mayo onigiri was STUFFED. There was so much flavor in every bite. I was a little cranky you have to order in twos but afterwards that first bite, I'm glad I had a whole one to myself! We got the Portuguese sausage with musubi and chili oil. The chili oil had a lot of heat and flavor to it! I don't recommend the chili oil if you're picturing a light spice because it packs a punch. But if you like the fire, highly recommend! My partners favorite was the classic teriyaki spam with unagi and avocado. I really enjoyed the portion sizing of each item - created a really perfect bite. The unagi had an extra smokiness to it. I think it's probably prepared in house/not supermarket unagi - the taste was quite different from that! The chicken lumpia was crispy and perfectly seasoned - not too salty and savory. I'm so excited for the brick and mortar store to open! I ordered online some spam and vegan Omnipork musubis and a Spanish latte, and although the owner had just driven back from Monterey, he went ahead and got it ready for me. I think I came on the off day since he was busy and out of a few things, but I appreciated his kindness and great customer service because he gave us a few more musubis as well. My sister said the Omnipork was just a tad bit dry, but I really enjoyed mine. The shrimp was perfectly fried and flavorful and tasted great with the spam. The latte was also delicious and creamy. Musubi Libre is my fave, I will support them wherever they are! I was downtown on a side quest for my nieces bday gift and DMed my order and by the time I was done shopping I let them know I was there. Leonard brought my food out to me. I didn't want to wait but once I got home I tried the tuna onigiri first, it was 10/10 but even better one I dipped it in kimchi mayo. Then I tried the inari Musubi, 100/10 would recommend. I wish more sushi joints had inari on the menu, so anytime I see it I'll order it. Saving the rest for work tomorrow to share with colleagues in Oakland. Keep up the great food! read more

Happened upon this spot and rang the doorbell to see what they offered. We tried the spam musubi and Portuguese sausage musubi and the mini Portuguese sausage bowl. Everything was made fresh to order, the sauce on the spam musubi was delicious and it was a good ratio of spam to rice.
