Randomly stumbled upon this place while taking the kids to the park. This place is absolutely amazing. We had a large group of people so we had the opportunity to try everything. The twisted donuts came out hot and the all 3 of the seasonings were delicious. My favorite was the injolmi. The Korokee was light and airy filled with deliciousness. My favorite was the spicy pork and yes they are spicy so proceed with caution. The Bingsoo's were devoured. All flavors were great. I especially enjoyed the red bean with injolmi. I will be back to try their lunchboxes. Service was just as great as the food. The workers were very sweet and informative. This place will go viral soon. read more

We came here to the shopping center for burgers, but were pleasantly surprised to find this place! Since the burger joint was closed today, we thought we'd try this new Korean-Japanese fusion Dublin fast food restaurant. Aside from the fact they don't have inside dining, today was a pleasant day to eat at the quaint patio seating area. We finally made it out here during their open hours and was so exited to try it out. We ordered their donuts, some croquettes and the pork belly pancake. I wish we could have ordered more since everything looked so good. The food took about 10-15 mins to complete and it came out piping hot. Before we drove away, we consumed a donut and a croquette. It was delicious. The lady came out to offer to take our order but we had placed it already using the preorder. Donuts were hot and light with a crunch and a slight chew. We've had mochi donuts before but these were so much better esp since they weren't oily at all. We tried all three flavors and enjoyed them all. I've come here multiple times already, bringing friends, family, and anyone willing to try a Korean treat. This place never disappoints, and Jennifer, the owner, is incredibly kind. The croquettes are excellent. They are lightly crispy on the outside, airy yet chewy on the inside, with a rich seasoned meat filling. My favorites are the spicy pork and the beef curry. They have value sets which let you sample a little bit of everything fromt the twisted donut and coquette menus. I got set B which gives you 3 donuts and 6 croquettes, with tax it was about $28. My first time having Korean snacks and it did not disappoint, and its dangerous I live close by lol I tried: regular sugar donut, sesame donut, the other one that tasted like peanut powder, crab croquette, spicy pork croquette, beef curry croquette, potato cheese croquette, pork and veggie croquette. ALL WERE AMAZING!! made out of chewy rice dough, it wasnt too heavy and had such a nice chew. One day after a bike ride, I noticed Simbongsa's signage from the parking lot and I walked over to check it out. I was intrigued- who doesn't love some fried goodness. It definitely is a "hole in the wall" kind of place, it is literally just a kitchen where you walk up, order off the QR code/menu that is on a table outside, and when the order is ready, they open the door to receive payment and hand you your food. I got 3 of the korokke (croquette)- 2 potato corn and cheese and one pork and vegetable, and 3 of the quabegi (twist donut), one of each flavor- original, black sesame, and injolmi. Everything was made fresh to order so it was still warm and crunchy in the 15 minute drive home. The korokke were good sized and tasty but we liked the pork & vegetable more. The donuts were solid as well, a bit of a chewy texture and good flavors. Overall good, hope they do well and are able to expand in the future! read more

This is a small spot located next to Athens Restaurant. We didn't realize it had opened, but they offer Korean street food like twisted donuts and croquettes, with a variety of fillings. We tried pizza, spicy pork, pork, corn and cheese, beef curry, and crab. They were all nicely fried, very crunchy, and with a unique batter. I had never tried Korokee before, but they're so good! We ordered the pork and vegetables, spicy pork and cheese, and the crab meat. I love how crispy and crunchy the outside is while the inside is gooey and packed with flavor. What really tops it off are the dipping sauces. I'm not sure what the orange-reddish sauce is, but it's delicious with a nice little kick. The tartar sauce that comes with it is also really good. The crab one was my least favorite, mostly because it leaned more sweet than savory. The pork and vegetables one was really good and perfect to share with my son. The spicy pork and cheddar was my favorite. Definitely not for the weak though--if you can't handle heat, I wouldn't recommend it because it's pretty spicy! We also ordered the bulgogi rice plate. Great food, especially the beef curry korokke. my family really enjoyed the mochi donuts as well. However, I would not recommend it as a whole meal as all of the items are very oily. If you want a Korean karaoke, I really enjoyed the mozzarella one as well, you can see in my pictures that the cheese really elongates very nicely. The service was really good. The dosirak lunch boxes are a great option for a take-out lunch. All components in it were pretty good and there is quite an assortment. The spicy chicken was juicy and had a nice char. I was somewhat disappointed by the croquettes. They are well made in a sense. Crispy, nicely shaped, nice chewy texture. But the filling was cold and lacking texture. They feel too unhealthy to be a regular snack and not tasty enough for a cheat day treat. It's a purely take-out spot where you order online and come pick food up from the kitchen. I was on the hunt for a quick lunch today and saw that Simbongsa was new. The shop is right next to Athens Burger. Outside is a table with a menu and a QR code to order online. As I was looking at the menu, a lady stepped out to hand a customer her order and she reassured me that she's going to come back out and take my order. She was so sweet! I'm assuming she's the owner. I asked her how long her place has been here and she said they opened up back in December. They were originally here in the Pleasanton/Dublin area, then made their way to Santa Clara, and then came back here. Thank goodness because I'm definitely coming back on my lunch breaks! I ordered a spicy pork, corn potato/cheese, red bean, crab meat, and a pepperoni pizza korokke, and a hotteok. (Yes, it was all for me. And yes, I got too excited and wanted to try everything. lol) Everything is made to order, so it was a little bit of a wait. I tried the crab meat first and OHEMGEE. It was crispy on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside. After every bite I was blown away. IT WAS SO GOOD. Because it was getting close to the end of my lunch hour, I needed something sweet. So, I followed it with the hotteok. It was still piping hot when I took it out of the bag. I should've bought more because it was AMAZING. Saw the signage for Korean donut twists (quabegi) and croquettes (korokke). Okay...I'll be sure to stop by next time! :) Intrigued with no line, met with the owner, Jennifer who was super friendly and took my order. Since I couldn't decide she suggested ordering 3pcs of the savory croquettes ($12) from a variety of filling options and 3pcs of the donut :: Korokke Spicy Pork - ground pork with visible bits of carrots with a bit of sweetness. Exterior is a mixture of wheat/rice flour so a slight chew with a crispy, panko-like exterior. Accompanied with a spicy, sweet mayo-based sauce of Gochujang (Korean red chili paste), garlic and sugar :: Quabegi - twisted donuts - glazed, sesame and soybean powder - chewy, subtly sweet and best eaten right away. Returned to try their rice plates and get a different korokke. The beef bulgogi was good, and had the same crispy mochi outer shell. The rice plates were also fairly good for a takeout-only spot. I do like how it comes with a small side of veggies and the japchae and purple rice. There was also macaroni salad which was interesting/different. I do wish the spicy pork was a bit leaner - some of the pieces were slightly thin but fatty at the same time. Flavor was still good though. My first time here and definitely will not be the last time! I had ordered donuts, croquettes, and bento boxes. The grilled chicken and the rib eye bento boxes were yummy. Small amount of banchan in the bento box makes it a very filling meal. The donuts are out of this world especially when it is fresh and hot. They were super light and airy. I am not a huge fan of donuts but I'm a fan now with these donuts. The croquettes were fluffy and full of fillings. I ended up getting the crab meat, the potato and cheese and the pork and vegetables. They were delicious. My daughter and I dropped by right after we visited Stoneridge Mall. We ordered 6 twisted donuts (3 black sesame, 2 original & 1 injolmi). The donuts were soft and chewy and my favorite was the original. It was slightly sweet with a hint of cinnamon. I'm a huge fan of black sesame in general. Wanted bingsu in Pleasanton and this was the first place that popped up, so my partner and I went ahead to try it. It was very hot, but the bingsus were amazing, quickly-prepared, and decently priced too! So far we have tried the cookies and cream flavor, and the sunset flavor (strawberries + mango) which were both great. I actually wasn't a huge fan of the almond slices / fruity pebble toppings, so when I went a second time, I asked for a strawberry bingsu without those toppings and they fulfilled my request perfectly! Perfect place to grab a cool dessert especially during a hot summer, as you get to chill inside your car while waiting for the food. The people are very nice too! read more

The person that helped us explained everything in what they have and what they are since we weren't familiar with the foreign names of the goodies. I think she's the owner but didn't ask. We've been to Simbongsa several times now after a friend introduced us to the quabegi (the twisted donut). It was so delicious while warm and buttery fresh that my interest was piqued! So we went back another day and ate with our eyes and ordered a combo set that included 3 donuts and 6 croquettes--your choice of fillings. It's around $27-$28 total but you can pick the combo and size that feels appropriate for the number of people eating. A croquette tends to average a little under $4 for one and a donut averages around $2 but combos bring more value. The Korean store is take out only, you cannot dine in. It's literally just a kitchen preparing the food next to Athens Restaurant and a bike shop. But if you walk up to the kitchen you can still order but you'll just have to wait maybe 10-15 min depending on your order size. We walked up the first time and subsequent times we ordered online and drove over for pickup. Sometimes they run out of certain flavors if they're really busy with a big order (like one time on a Sunday morning they had run low on spicy pork and beef curry only an hour or so after opening!) But the owner gave us substitutes and even threw in a free croquette for the inconvenience. We tried the sugar, black sesame, and peanut powder quabegi (donuts) and quickly learned the powdered ones were a little too messy and made your mouth feel a lot drier. My favorite was still the original sugar. However if you order online, it seems there are other flavors like cookies and cream, caramel funnelcake, etc. For the croquettes, we have tried the beef curry, spicy pork, mozzarella, pizza, crab, pork and veggie. My personal favorite is the beef curry which gives the one I like at Tous Les Jour a run for its money in size and value and taste! My husband likes the spicy pork but be warned, it does have a decent spicy kick to it! The others were just okay for me but my kiddo likes the mozzarella one. Crab meat is more like a california roll filling; the mayo is sweeter. We bring these to parties and people love them! The croquettes are larger than people expect. They also heat well the next day if you pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds and then air fry for 5 minutes. Just as crispy and delicious!! The dough feels very chewy and light around the croquette as well as in the twisted donuts. The owner is really sweet and friendly and I love supporting their small business. read more

When you arrive, there's instructions to order through your phone. Directions say it will take 10 minutes but ours came out faster than expected. Friendly, quick, and delicious. We got the combo B with 3 꽈배기 and 6 고로케. We shared and ate 5 korokke and 1.5 twisted donuts and we were fullll. My favorites were pizza, mozzarella, and the chicken pot pie. Husband loved the spicy pork. It has a nice spice to it. Injulmi twist has lots of injulmi powder, which worked well with the crispy yet bouncy donut. Looking for a quick snack/lunch, I stumbled onto this place on its fourth day of soft opening. The friendly owner came out to greet me, explain the menu, and take my order. I got three different flavors to try - beef curry (not on menu), crab meat, and spicy pork. The concept is very similar to Japanese croquettes except the skin is glutinous rice that gives it a chewy mochi texture. Even at palm size, because of the thick skin, I was getting full by the middle of the second one. Beef curry was definitely the most flavorful of the three.
