For those who have ever made the lonely and boring drive down the 1-5 from Socal to Norcal - or vise versa, know this is nothing more depressing than this drive. The only thing I look forward to on this journey other than getting to my final destination, is my half way mark. Yes, that half way mark for me would be Starbucks. = ) Like everyone else on the road, this is a must stop when on this unfortunate journey. There are always a ton of people here to refuel on their caffeine or use the facilities. I was on this journey alone this time so I just needed the fuel to stay awake. The wait here is usually long and the store isn't always the cleanest, but its a great spot to come, stretch the limbs and get the blood flowing before you set out on the road again. read more

Stopped by here tonight at around 10:30pm bc my bf had to finish his paper by midnight. This place is right a long the 5 and across from the big outlet shopping center. Cool spot. We're coming from LA and heading back to Hayward, Bay Area, about 4.5 hours away. The girls here, especially the one at the cashier and making drinks was super sweet! It's almost midnight and she still kept a welcoming and friendly attitude! We were there for about an hour and it was consistently busy, but I managed to catch the barista/cashier a few times providing fantastic customer service. My bf was able to get his paper done and is enjoying his coffee made by the sweetest barista! He's also ready to tackle on this 4.5 hour drive back home! Location, location, location! This is a pretty average Starbucks, EXCEPT: 1. It is located at the foot of the dreaded Grapevine, at the LaVal West exit. Just at the moment when you desperately want a coffee, or gas, or a restroom, there it is. 2. A couple of years ago, management took notice of the fact that on a busy night, the restroom line ran right out the door. They remodeled, and this place has the biggest ladies' room I've ever seen in a Starbucks, multiple stalls, very little if any waiting. AND it's clean. Thank you, Starbucks, for doing your bit to make trips up and down the I-5 and the CA-99 more pleasant (and caffienated!) than before. read more

Similar to what Anita L said in her Lebec Panda Express review, it's not so much that this is a great Starbucks -- it's that it's GENIUS to have a Starbucks on the grapevine! I was heading from LA to SF and falling asleep on the Tejon Pass, and couldn't believe my luck when I saw the Starbucks sign on the side of the road. To top that, it has a drive-through! Actually I have to give this Starbucks mad props for being very friendly and cozy. On the wall were baby pictures of the employees, and from the little notes on the chalkboards and things, the place actually seemed to have quite a personality (or rather, the people working there did). The coffee was the usual, which did its job and kept me awake for the rest of the drive. Thank goodness. I noticed another Starbucks in Buttonwillow a bit further up the 5, but didn't see one in Kettleman City. Just FYI. read more

I've been to this Starbucks a few times on road trips from SD to the Bay. There is ALWAYS a long line wrapped around any crevice of this small shop. On a trip home yesterday, my sister and I chose between coffee and a nap to power through the rest of our drive. After deciding coffee, we stopped in, took turns waiting in the line, stretching, people watching, and finalllyyy ordering our coffee creations. They know they have a high volume store and they staff accordingly. Staff is extremely efficient and on point all things considered... and best of all, my coffee was delicious. Woohoo! read more

But be careful, the drives seems to not know where the lane is for the drive-thru since the exit from McDonald's intersects with the Starbucks one. It's a Starbucks. Just like the hundred of thousands of other spots. The coffee, food, and service are right on par with other facilities. It's just this spot sees 100x more traffic. In fact, I've heard that this is the busiest Starbucks in the state of California. I'm not sure if that's true, but it certainly seems like it. Sunday morning we found ourselves over 15 cars deep. The total wait time was less than 10 minutes. Not too bad actually. This location is incredibly convenient and easy to get on and off the 5. Nice stop to get your caffeine buzz until LA. read more

Starbucks is Starbucks, right? NOPE! I have actually had varying experiences and tastes throughout my travels with Starbucks. What puts this one at the top, was not only the friendliness of the staff, but also it is open 24 HOURS!!! I tend to travel back and forth over the Grapevine in the middle of the night to avoid traffic and so finding this particular feature the other day was like a little ray of joy to ring in the New Year. I'm not going to complain about the crazy lines at this location as it is certainly expected, especially on a weekend. Corporate seems to be finally dealing with the situation by opening another location across the freeway at the new outlet mall. However, they were out of almost all Le Boulange pastries by 9 AM?!? The case was completely full, but the cashier informed us they only had cake pops left. At the very least, they should have pulled the display items out of the case to avoid angry, tired customers complaining. Drink quality was horrible as well. My iced latte tasted burnt and lukewarm. Smh. Multiple bad reviews for this place. Here's another. So, I order a espresso frap, extra shot along with A croissant and a iced chai tea latte with soy with a 1/2 shot. At the bottom of the tea there is thick, white sour milk like substance that can only be sour soy milk! I know how regular and soy milk looks when they are sour. She then goes to pour a tiny bit into another cup and convince herself that it's not the milk. She makes another. This time, a HUGE chunk of gross soured soy milk plops into the tea. Again she said it's not the milk and it's just pouring like that. Ummm... No. It's SOUR! Lol. Wth. She then says it's not the milk. Again. I asked for a refund. She directs me back to the register. I ordered an ice coffee that took nearly 30 minutes to pour. When I got the drink it was so water downed it didn't even taste like coffee. Service was slow, drink was poor, and the staff was unfriendly. In their defense it was slammed, but there was no hustle at all. I had a horrible experience at this location. Starbucks is known for their customer service and cheerful attitude. However this was NOT my experience here. Miriam was so grumpy and disrespectful, my family and I waited 25 minutes to get our order but we were missing a simple black coffee. And then I approached the counter to look and see if one of the items might be this missing coffee, she snapped at me saying don't touch an item if it doesn't belong to you. I tried explaining that she had called our name but we were missing an item, she again snapped and said she hadn't called my name because she just got there and go back up. She then rolled her eyes and ignored my request to please check if the coffee happened to be sitting there. Her attitude was unnecessary as she was aggressively dumping drinks out in the sink and mumbling about customers under her breath, Needless to say after waiting an additional 10 minutes we never received our complete order. The staff here is very nice and this location has the best bathrooms of any in the chain and a great drive through. So why 1*? Because it should never take 20 MINUTES to make 2 frappucinos with a huge staff. Needless to say the line behind me in the drive through was backing up. I come here pretty frequently for being from Fresno. I stop here anytime I'm on my way down to LA and then again on my way back up to Fresno. I usually use it for the restrooms because I HATE gas station restrooms. I've never had any issues with this Starbucks other than maybe the bathrooms could be cleaner, only because they are used so often. I'm also a barista at Starbucks so I know the ins and outs. They do a great job with the demand that they have and like I said no issues with any beverages I've gotten. Keep up the good work! read more

I was driving down to LA from the Bay Area on 01/06/13 and stopped to get a cup of coffee before the grapevine. I was delighted to see that Starbucks was still open at 12:30AM and made my way in. Three workers, two girls and a guy. The cashier (short young girl with black hair kinda gothic look) looked at me with that look you get when you walk in to a place when they're closing. I asked what time they closed and she replied 1AM. I jokingly said "I'm sorry" to which she just rolled her eyes. I asked for a Venti Pike, which she gave me and I paid for. As most polite people would, I said thank you as she gave me back my change. She looked at me, turned around and walked away. No, you're welcome or anything of that sort. I shake it off, knowing that it must suck to have to work that late. I walk into the restroom and the guy is just finishing spraying the urinals with a cleaner. Again, I get that "look" and he rolls his eyes as I say hello. No reply, nothing. He just walked out of the restroom. I get it, you want to go home but there's no need to be rude to the people that frequent your establishment. Since there's no Starbucks on the way back until the 58, I had to stop at this Starbucks again on the way back. I was glad to see that the people working this day were a whole lot nicer than my previous experience. I was greeted with the typical "hello" and departed with a pleasant "have a nice trip". I may just have to stop at the Starbucks near the 58 during my next LA trip. read more

My sweetheart, used to the splendid efficiency of the Financial District Star*uckses, was the most frustrated with the slowness at this location than at any other on our recent roadtrip to San Diego and back. Our soy lattes were also practically tasteless. How is it even possible? When we asked for coffee sleeves since they were out of them on the station the barista fished out two of them as well as some straws from...somewhere where they had fallen wedged in between the machine and the wall? Yikes. I should really just make us some out of fabric and call it a day anyways. Viva le DIY! Still, if you need a break and some caffeine, it'll do. It's not gas station coffee at least. read more

They apparently close their lobby at 8. There's nothing posted on their door. I ordered a drink in the mobile app after 8 and then when I tried to enter the store all the doors were locked. Nobody inside, even after knocking on the window, acknowledged that I was trying to get in. I called and they said their lobby was closed and I would have to go through the drive thru which had over 15 cars in it and took over 20 mins to pick up my mobile order. Ordered a mocha frap from this location (on the opposite side of the Tejon Outlets by Panda Express). The best frappacino mocha in a looong time. Brought me back to the golden years of Starbucks mocha frappacinnos (about 10 years ago) before it got all screwed up. Let me give you some history. I use to have one after work lunch 3 to 4 times a week not even counting weekends! Then after a few years something changed. It tasted different depending on who made it. Some times it would be ok but more often then not it was WAY too sweet and chocolate-ty. I would tell the barista about it and they would make me another one and it would be the same. Then we tried less pumps of mocha. Nothing seemed to make it right again. I was told by a barista once that Starbucks had changed the formula somehow and that may be why. I would visit many different Starbucks all over the city and state and get Soo much variation! I would hate having to gripe about it and trying to explain to them what the problem. I even started questioning my own mind! What if it's just in my head? Maybe my tastebuds were going berserk!? But the fact that the shade of brown was much darker on ones that tasted bad gave me hope that it my tongue was true and I was sane. From there on I tried to get the formula right. My expectations were now so low that sometimes when it looked and tasted right the first time around I was sooo grateful and happy! Yes I can tell when it was bad just by looking at the color. It should be just a shade darker than tan khakis, or dried dirt(light brown), not wet dirt or a dark chocolate color, that was all I needed to know. After a while I got tired of trying, tired of having it remade, tired of trying less pumps of mocha. I got so fed up that if it wasn't right I just returned it for a refund. Then when I was introduced to the green tea frap, I finally gave up on the mocha frap...sadly. I had found something new to replace it. But that lasted even a shorter time the the mocha frap, it too had too much variation in the taste just like the mocha. Sometimes it would be a perfect light light green and sometimes it would be a dark green. I know where this is leading, and I wasn't about to go through this again, so I snipped it right there. Oh I should mention I even contacted Starbucks, but unless they were mocha frap lovers, they wouldn't have a clue, which she didn't. I just got some generic response and that was that. Back to this location, I was feeling courageous on my road trip and decided to give the mocha frap a shot. I gave no special requests, and when I saw it on that counter, a shade darker then a non-wet beach sand brown, my eyes lit up and I was hopeful, could it be? I took a sip and it was flashback to the wonder years like the scene from ratatouille. The girl that made this on Dec. 13 at 2:25.52pm needs to be located and be instantly promoted! The way she made it should be documented and a mandatory Technical Service Bulletin needs to be sent out ALL Starbucks around the world! Because I am so sure that the number of mocha frap sales is nowhere where it should be. Let's save the mocha frapacinno!!! read more

Not a bad Starbucks. Ordered a caramel macchiato with extra caramel for myself and then a caramel frap for my girlfriend. Both drinks came out pretty good. There were a lot of people here since it's close to the outlets for people who are traveling to stop at. The location itself is easy to get to with plenty of parking. The lady behind the counter was nice and the place was pretty clean. I will say there was quite a big line for the bathroom for the ladies while I was there. All in all not bad! read more

I stop here all the time on my way to LA and back. I've always had a good experience until about 5 minutes ago. The "manager" Nate was so beyond rude. When he called my name for when my banana bread was ready I went right away, instead of him putting it down on the counter or handing it to me, he threw it at me. We asked for sugar b/c they were completely out and was rude with his answer. I usually just ignore it, but he continued to be rude and others were noticing as well.
