For those who have ever made the lonely and boring drive down the 1-5 from Socal to Norcal - or vise versa, know this is nothing more depressing than this drive. The only thing I look forward to on this journey other than getting to my final destination, is my half way mark. Yes, that half way mark for me would be Starbucks. = ) Like everyone else on the road, this is a must stop when on this unfortunate journey. There are always a ton of people here to refuel on their caffeine or use the facilities. I was on this journey alone this time so I just needed the fuel to stay awake. The wait here is usually long and the store isn't always the cleanest, but its a great spot to come, stretch the limbs and get the blood flowing before you set out on the road again. read more

Just mobile ordered at this location and waited 35 minutes for my drink. Finally got in line and asked for a refund. The poor guy at the counter has to deal with everyone's grumpy disappointment but why on earth do you only have one barista making drinks?! This is the absolute worst Starbucks I have ever been to! Stopped by here tonight at around 10:30pm bc my bf had to finish his paper by midnight. This place is right a long the 5 and across from the big outlet shopping center. Cool spot. We're coming from LA and heading back to Hayward, Bay Area, about 4.5 hours away. The girls here, especially the one at the cashier and making drinks was super sweet! It's almost midnight and she still kept a welcoming and friendly attitude! We were there for about an hour and it was consistently busy, but I managed to catch the barista/cashier a few times providing fantastic customer service. My bf was able to get his paper done and is enjoying his coffee made by the sweetest barista! He's also ready to tackle on this 4.5 hour drive back home! Location, location, location! This is a pretty average Starbucks, EXCEPT: 1. It is located at the foot of the dreaded Grapevine, at the LaVal West exit. Just at the moment when you desperately want a coffee, or gas, or a restroom, there it is. 2. A couple of years ago, management took notice of the fact that on a busy night, the restroom line ran right out the door. They remodeled, and this place has the biggest ladies' room I've ever seen in a Starbucks, multiple stalls, very little if any waiting. AND it's clean. Thank you, Starbucks, for doing your bit to make trips up and down the I-5 and the CA-99 more pleasant (and caffienated!) than before. read more

Similar to what Anita L said in her Lebec Panda Express review, it's not so much that this is a great Starbucks -- it's that it's GENIUS to have a Starbucks on the grapevine! I was heading from LA to SF and falling asleep on the Tejon Pass, and couldn't believe my luck when I saw the Starbucks sign on the side of the road. To top that, it has a drive-through! Actually I have to give this Starbucks mad props for being very friendly and cozy. On the wall were baby pictures of the employees, and from the little notes on the chalkboards and things, the place actually seemed to have quite a personality (or rather, the people working there did). The coffee was the usual, which did its job and kept me awake for the rest of the drive. Thank goodness. I noticed another Starbucks in Buttonwillow a bit further up the 5, but didn't see one in Kettleman City. Just FYI. read more

I've been to this Starbucks a few times on road trips from SD to the Bay. There is ALWAYS a long line wrapped around any crevice of this small shop. On a trip home yesterday, my sister and I chose between coffee and a nap to power through the rest of our drive. After deciding coffee, we stopped in, took turns waiting in the line, stretching, people watching, and finalllyyy ordering our coffee creations. They know they have a high volume store and they staff accordingly. Staff is extremely efficient and on point all things considered... and best of all, my coffee was delicious. Woohoo! read more

It's a Starbucks. Just like the hundred of thousands of other spots. The coffee, food, and service are right on par with other facilities. It's just this spot sees 100x more traffic. In fact, I've heard that this is the busiest Starbucks in the state of California. I'm not sure if that's true, but it certainly seems like it. Sunday morning we found ourselves over 15 cars deep. Super slow because they are very busy. It seems like everyone stops here before and/or after traveling the grapevine. I expect that to be often. With that, expect less attention to detail in the making of your beverage. My coffee was very watered down. The place was super crowded and the restrooms were filthy. What puts this one at the top, was not only the friendliness of the staff, but also it is open 24 HOURS!!! I tend to travel back and forth over the Grapevine in the middle of the night to avoid traffic and so finding this particular feature the other day was like a little ray of joy to ring in the New Year. I'm not going to complain about the crazy lines at this location as it is certainly expected, especially on a weekend. Corporate seems to be finally dealing with the situation by opening another location across the freeway at the new outlet mall. However, they were out of almost all Le Boulange pastries by 9 AM?!? The case was completely full, but the cashier informed us they only had cake pops left. At the very least, they should have pulled the display items out of the case to avoid angry, tired customers complaining. Drink quality was horrible as well. My iced latte tasted burnt and lukewarm. I stop here all the time on my way to LA and back. I've always had a good experience until about 5 minutes ago. The "manager" Nate was so beyond rude. When he called my name for when my banana bread was ready I went right away, instead of him putting it down on the counter or handing it to me, he threw it at me. We asked for sugar b/c they were completely out and was rude with his answer. I usually just ignore it, but he continued to be rude and others were noticing as well. I get it's a busy Starbucks, but there were very few people there and if you can handle a little rush of 10 people you probably shouldn't be the manager or working there. read more

Smh. Multiple bad reviews for this place. Here's another. So, I order a espresso frap, extra shot along with A croissant and a iced chai tea latte with soy with a 1/2 shot. At the bottom of the tea there is thick, white sour milk like substance that can only be sour soy milk! I know how regular and soy milk looks when they are sour. She then goes to pour a tiny bit into another cup and convince herself that it's not the milk. She makes another. This time, a HUGE chunk of gross soured soy milk plops into the tea. Again she said it's not the milk and it's just pouring like that. Ummm... No. It's SOUR! Lol. Wth. She then says it's not the milk. Again. I asked for a refund. She directs me back to the register. The staff here is very nice and this location has the best bathrooms of any in the chain and a great drive through. So why 1*? Because it should never take 20 MINUTES to make 2 frappucinos with a huge staff. Needless to say the line behind me in the drive through was backing up. I was driving down to LA from the Bay Area on 01/06/13 and stopped to get a cup of coffee before the grapevine. I was delighted to see that Starbucks was still open at 12:30AM and made my way in. Three workers, two girls and a guy. The cashier (short young girl with black hair kinda gothic look) looked at me with that look you get when you walk in to a place when they're closing. I asked what time they closed and she replied 1AM. I jokingly said "I'm sorry" to which she just rolled her eyes. I asked for a Venti Pike, which she gave me and I paid for. As most polite people would, I said thank you as she gave me back my change. She looked at me, turned around and walked away. No, you're welcome or anything of that sort. I shake it off, knowing that it must suck to have to work that late. I walk into the restroom and the guy is just finishing spraying the urinals with a cleaner. Again, I get that "look" and he rolls his eyes as I say hello. No reply, nothing. He just walked out of the restroom. I get it, you want to go home but there's no need to be rude to the people that frequent your establishment. Since there's no Starbucks on the way back until the 58, I had to stop at this Starbucks again on the way back. I was glad to see that the people working this day were a whole lot nicer than my previous experience. I was greeted with the typical "hello" and departed with a pleasant "have a nice trip". I went inside and got my order of 3 venti drinks, so I asked the barista with the colorful tattoos and dyed hair for a cup holder and she made a mad looking face. My sweetheart, used to the splendid efficiency of the Financial District Star*uckses, was the most frustrated with the slowness at this location than at any other on our recent roadtrip to San Diego and back. Our soy lattes were also practically tasteless. How is it even possible? When we asked for coffee sleeves since they were out of them on the station the barista fished out two of them as well as some straws from...somewhere where they had fallen wedged in between the machine and the wall? I'm a usual here. I come here often. and It's typically super busy and long lines however was not the case today. It was 1 car in front of me and one behind me. So the girl on drive thru who says her name is "tiger" no name tag so not sure if it's accurate, but anyways she's not ever pleased To be at work. Her tone of voice set the mood. She's so rude and got the order wrong. Not happy with her customer service. Had us rush thru ordering in the drive thru line and said how important it was to order hot food or any food items first. So I did. And rushed me I make my choices quick to only keep us waiting on the window to receive our order she failed to give us which we paid for. She handed us our drinks but the food portion was missed. She returns to the window not expecting us since she planned on handing us the drink that belongs to the car behind us. Rudely asks what we wanted. I as the passenger replied our food. So then she sighs and grabs its as a chore. She's so rude. Not the customer service Starbucks typically aims For. Worst Starbucks I have ever been to. We order our drinks and we got one fairly quickly then we waited for 10 minutes for the next one to come out, we were still waiting for one more drink. The people that ordered after us were receiving their drinks. We get our bakery items and they messed up so we went and got that fixed and we are still waiting for one more drink. After 15 minutes had passed since receiving our first drink and I see people joking around behind the counter I go ask and they had not even started the drink. It took them another several minutes to get the final drink out. The drinks were awful and did not taste like they do at other Starbucks.
