I've been a big fan of the OG Vanilla Coffee Bean! Thus, while passing through Bakersfield, I had to stop by to pick up a large cup of my old favorite. There was a promotion for "buy a large, but pay for a regular", so I used that promotion. However, people I was with used a promotion that was for a "free drink", which detailed a free coffee or tea. When they jumped through all the hoops of "buy one, get one", they realized The Coffee Bean limited the "get one" to only DRIP coffee and BAGGED tea drinks! This was after she ordered an expensive LARGE iced blended drink, thinking she would be able to get another large iced blended. This was very disappointing. It was not long ago that this company had the same promotion, but allowed any drink, including iced blended drinks, especially if you had just purchased one for the promotion. The fine print was unclear. I have been a fan of this company for decades since living in a big city, and I hope to see it succeed. I thought the Bakersfield store had okay customer service, there was cute holiday decor, and it was fairly clean. The manager could have extended the offer we interpreted the promotion to be, but I understand. I'm not sure I would return since we felt scammed by the promotional deal, but hopefully The Coffee Bean will improve their marketing and service over time. read more

Overall really enjoyed both drinks that we ordered. The first is a viral drink from tik tok. You can ask for an "iced americano dry, half cookie butter, half vanilla, splash of half & half, caramel drizzle, and all cream cap". It was very yummy but definitely strong! If you prefer for it to be less strong I suggest getting an americano not americano dry. The second drink is an iced layered pumpkin latte. It definitely fits the seasonal vibe, but I do wish it was more milky. I tried customizing it but they said I couldn't because this drink has exact measurements... which sounded weird but oh well. No I'm not gonna get addicted again because I live so far away. I just happen to be in the area but there's much a frappe is 10 out of 10. The drive-through seemed super busy. I do like my Midnight Mocha Cold Brew. That's why I'll make the 20 minute drive to get it. I love the chocolatey taste that has just the right amount of caffeine. I typically order it easy ice, but whenever I get my order, it has more ice than I think it should have. Maybe I'll get it with no ice next time. I have yet to go inside the store as I usually go through the drive thru. Wait time is about average when there is a line, but not as terrible as Dutch Bros. Customer service is pretty standard. You order, they give you your drink, that's it. No formalities. Sometimes it feels like you're ordering from a kiosk. And sometimes I'm okay with that. read more

Beautiful area, beautiful store!!! It wasn't busy when I went in earlier, but im sure they do get busy, especially their drive-thru. Tons of parking available. Girl who took my order was so sweet, and she was sweeping, keeping the store clean in between customers. I loved all the Valentine's decor! My drink was delicious, and I'm pretty positive all their iced blended drinks are delicious. On 7/1/2025 I purchased 2 hot teas. The lid was not put on correctly on one unknown to me. When I picked that cup the hot liquid when everywhere It was so hot that when the liquid hit the other cup the lid warped. I have 2nd degree burns on my abdomen. I have scalded hands and a blistered pinkie. I have had 3 doctors appt. Please please read this carefully!! I cannot get anyone at this business to contact me. I have tried so many times. Drove across town to try this place. We have so many great local coffee shops that I never really care to come here. This day I was feeling daring, I was excited to come and see what the hype was about. First impression was extremely close resemblance to a Starbucks! Insane, in a multi universe where Starbucks had less friendly service. Which was my second impression. The young lady at the register did not seem happy to be there nor see me. It was my first time there which I let her know. I wasn't sure what to choose for me nor my daughter but she didn't seem interested in helping. The menu looked delicious with different flavors like ube and cookie butter! In comparison to every other major coffee chain my boyfriend says it's "on top" lol he got the Spanish latte hot and he said it was "very good" we also both got the pesto turkey sandwiches, I just recommend getting them cold. I got the brown sugar latte, it's good just not my cup of tea (I have a major sweet tooth). Vibes were nice just the music maybe can be more better. Place was decorated for Valentine's Day which is very cute. Service was okay, but they got the job done so that's all that really matters. We came here on opening day and it was very crowded. The staff were all so friendly and helpful! Lots of great flavors including mango, which was really good! They had 2 no sugar added flavors: vanilla and mocha. I got the no sugar added vanilla bean latte with almond milk. It was pretty good with a few packets of Splenda. Service is good. It's kind of small but has a seating area outside which is also small. Menu has an assortment of items to chose from. You can download the app and order ahead of time there's also a drive thru. My only complaint is I couldn't handle the the smell when you walk in. Hated my experience to be honest. I go through the drive thru and order the Vietnamese cold brew . Not that good tasting by the way. And the cups for the beverages that are iced are flimsy. I came in today 11/11/24 and this was my third time in the past 7-8 months at this location during the 2024 year, and I have never been impressed with the staff. Thrilled to finally have CBTL in Bakersfield! If you love hot tea, their tea lattes are a treat and not something that is offered anywhere else. My favorites are the English Breakfast tea latte and the Winter Dream (seasonal) tea latte. Pro tip...get the regular size...they use the same amount of tea in the regular as they do in the large, the large tends to taste watered down as a result. The only negative about the Bakersfield location is that the local owners have made the decision to not participate in the rewards program, so all those great $1 off specials and food and drink specials that get loaded into your app...you're out of luck, they won't allow you to use them. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but they keep dropping the ball on orders. This is not the first time they've gotten mine wrong--this time, they added regular milk instead of oat milk. It's frustrating because some people are lactose intolerant, and mistakes like this can actually make customers sick. If they're offering dairy alternatives, they need to be more careful. I hope they improve because the coffee itself is good, but the service needs serious work. read more

I have become a breakfast person since i started working from home and i am always looking for new things to try, new restaurants to try so this sounded like a specialty coffee shop with some breakfast items and i wanted to try. Egg white and veggie bites were good, no complaints. Taste was so good. Egg white pesto wrap was also decent and i liked the taste. The only reason for my 4 stars is the Beyond Breakfast Sausage Sandwich which i could have been cooked a little well. It did not look or taste that good. I have had Beyond Meat items from almost every place that offers it and based on my overall experience with the Beyond Meat items, i think this place did not meet that taste/flavor standard for me. Drinks not made the way they were ordered. I specifically asked for a straw for both drinks and they did not even send one??? Not sure why you have to ask for a straw when you need a straw to drink it but you do and I did but still didn't get one? Ordered a Turkey and cheese type sandwich on panini bread and asked for it to be warmed. Arrived, cheese cold and hard and cheese had glued sandwich to plate. I had to try to peel it off the paper plate and then peel the paper plate off the sandwich . Not worth it and bread was tough! I love the coffee bean and their drinks but I was disappointed in the introverted staff. I walked in and waited for awhile to have my order taken. The staff did look at me but didn't say a word. We went through the drive thru on a Saturday around 1pm. There was a few cars ahead of us. When we pulled up to the window I asked for an iced chai tea latte. They said they ran out. They didn't offer anything else or asked if I needed any suggestions. I chose the matcha iced green tea. It was average. My husband chose the peach tea and I tasted it. I tasted sugar with a little bit of peach flavor. They did say it was already made with sugar, so I'm glad they were honest. We were just surprised with the amount of sugar. The service was less than average. I paid with cash and the cashier said she could not give me my change. She said she was waiting for coins, shut the drive thru window and did not open it.
