Review #536 2025-005 Drink Order: EMPEROR'S CLOUDS & MIST TEA aka "yun wu" or 雲霧 in Chinese (green tea cultivated at 3.5K & shrouded in ethereal clouds & mist) Trying to fix my numerical review order... replacing defunct Sub Club Italian Deli in Torrance that was removed. Not the best start for the new year, losing someone near & dear to me, so I traveled with my big brother to pay our respects, say farewell & wish her peace in her afterlife journey. I was getting stiff & groggy on the return trip, & B remembered a Starbucks just before we hit the Grapevine but didn't remember the exit. The app led us to Pieology & we see the Starbucks drive-thru signage; we parked & walked around (to stretch our achy back & legs) in the cold winds to the coffee shop. Brrr!! The coffee shop is attached to Pieology (east side) off the popular Wheeler Ridge rest stop. Since it's a weekday, not much foot traffic on a Tuesday late afternoon. Taking a quick restroom break before ordering; I noticed an unusual set-up & not sure if it's a good thing. There's 2 unisex restrooms with the sinks outside, which means the restroom handles are unsanitary because you're coming out with dirty hands touching the handle. Yuck! I used toilet paper to let myself out. Yes, the sink is right outside, but I've seen people walk out of restrooms with sinks on the inside (not here). The OCD in me doesn't accept this layout. I did like the sink station ingenuity of all-in-one soap, faucet, & hand dryer, though repairs might be challenging. I'm not a coffee drinker (can't stand the smell & taste); refer to Review #s: 16, 798). I had their Refreshers (meh) & Lemonades (moderately better), & tried a bagged tea because I needed some caffeine & something hot to warm my insides. The barista was friendly & helpful... I asked for a green or black tea, but don't understand their tea types so she brought the whole stand for me to select my flavor. Barely a minute & I got my tea, which is essentially adding hot water & throwing in a couple of bags, & waited for B's coffee order -- a latte of some sort. I forgot to ask them to fill it to the top & leave an inch to add some ice so I can actually drink it on the road. I didn't get to it -- yes, it's that hot -- until I was almost descending the Grapevine. It's not the same quality as my loose leaf teas, but for a bagged tea, this was pretty good. It has a tinge of bitter to the smoky, earthy taste with a subtle touch of sweetness in the finish. I'm thinking of searching for this in loose leaf form at my fav tea shops. The break was a quick for the restroom, & our tea & coffee order... 10-mins. & we were on the road. Thx Starbucks for the wake-me-up! Recommended: Emperor's Clouds & Mist Tea.

Wow! This place has changed! A remodel and it's so fancy! The bathroom sinks have some high tech system with soap, water and dryer in the same bar about the actual sink! Big, bright space with this gorgeous mural! Staff very welcoming, as before!

Handwashing station outside of restrooms

Whew! This is a busy Starbucks. I decided to try for East side of the 5 instead of the Starbucks on the west side by the TA rest area, thinking maybe this one would be less busy. It was not. Lol. While I stood in the lengthy line for the one bathroom that was working, I placed my one drink order on the mobile app and the app said it would be ready in about 20 min. Yup...20 min. To my surprise it was actually ready in 15 minutes. It was kind of cool to see the handwashing station outside of the bathroom and it's nice that it all was hands free.

I kid you not, I waited 31 minutes for this short latte and a Pike. Worst Starbucks experience ever!

Worst Starbucks experience ever! I waited 31 minutes for a short Latte and a Pike. Had I known I wouldn't have stopped here at this Starbucks. There was other customers waiting for their drinks just as long who were also very unhappy as well. Who wouldn't be. I won't come back here that's for sure.

If you're not ready to serve that number of people, why do you take orders? We've been waiting for 40 minutes for our order. Just for coffee!! Service is terrible and inattentive, they don't give you straws or cup holders unless you ask for it. They ignored us for 3 times and then silently gave 6 straws. Chocolate brownie was terrible and completely not edible, too oily Looks like they don't care if people come back here.

Special messages left on my Starbucks drink, love it!

My quick mobile order pickup at Starbucks was fantastic thanks to Christian! He was efficient, accurate, and such a delight - his energy and kindness were truly appreciated. He greeted me warmly and went above and beyond to make sure my drink was exactly what I wanted. Starbucks was well decorated and clean. Good location next to food options and gas station.

Rate 3.5 Starbucks is Starbucks. It's convenient and some of us enjoy it. Was craving my usual matcha tea latte. I chose it hot today. Service was great ( I would rate them 5)

Absolutely filthy Starbucks
Scott H.

I'm not sure what's worse about this Starbucks the speed of the service or the filth in the dining room and restroom. The place is absolutely disgusting. The urinal even comes with snacks. It's hard to enjoy the food in a restaurant that is so filthy.

Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte
Josh M.

I generally love pumpkin spice but as soon as sipped on this I wanted to pull over & throw up because this was the saltiest drink I've ever had it didn't even taste like pumpkin spice

Literally the worlds slowest Starbucks in the entire world. They cater to the drive through and ignore the people who go in.

We all knew we wanted to find a Black Bear diner. Place was so clean. We were seated immediately and drinks arrived fast. Our server was Tausha. She was wonderful! We teased and laughed with her. If you stop there ask her about the guy that wanted the channel changed even though he was sitting in a different area. Our meals were all perfect! Not one mistake . Always had coffee cups filled and drinks. Thank you Tausha for great service today, and Black Bear for delicious food! Oh, and the servings are huge! Not sure when we'll be down that way, but if we do, we will stop again.

The server was polite and seated me quickly since it wasn't very busy. I ordered an omelet, assuming it would be one of the quickest and simplest items to prepare. Instead, it took 40 minutes to arrive. Honestly, if I were at home, I could go to the grocery store, buy the ingredients, prep, cook the omelet, and clean up in that same amount of time. It was surprising--and frustrating--that it took so long, especially after I had to follow up to get my food. The omelet itself was very basic. They chopped and mixed avocado directly into it as a topping, which was unusual since most places serve it on the side. It was also extremely bland--no salt or pepper at all. The vegetables inside were lightly seasoned and had an okay texture, but nothing memorable. The hash browns were the worst I've ever had: slightly raw, oily, and soft. That's especially disappointing considering I cook frozen hash browns at home and they've never turned out this bad. The toast was fine and adequately buttered. I genuinely feel bad for the locals who eat here and, by doing so, encourage the business to keep serving subpar food to new customers. I won't be dining at any Black Bear Diner again--I'd rather get Panda Express or go to the Denny's across the street.

The food was delicious! I got the famous taquitos, which were crispy and flavorful. The sauces were yummy, and the chips and rice were great. I got a mix of potato and chicken, and next time I would definitely order all potato since those were my favorite. My mom and sister got the chicken bowls, and they said they were flavorful and much better than something like Chipotle. I'm excited to go back the next time we're on a road trip!

I was going back to Southern California right before the Grapevine and took a pit stop out here so I wanted to try it. There was a firehouse subs before here which I loved. I usually stop here when traveling from up North and back to South. I ordered their 4 pack combo that came with taquitos, rice, beans and a drink. I got all of their flavors, potato, beef and chicken. All were really good, they were crisp to perfection and would come back for more in the future. My girlfriend got their bowl and it looked like soup from the beans and sauces and also was really salty. It was almost inedible when we tried it. We were wondering what in the bowl was that salty and strong and it was the rice. I tried the rice on my side and it was also insanely strong. I feel like this place was solid otherwise and I know a 2 star is a little steep and they probably made a mistake for the rice, but having the food almost inedible in my eyes is warranted. Wish we went back to exchange the food for something else but we left back on the highway.

There are many gas pumps so you rarely ever have to wait for gas. The food nearby makes this the perfect pit stop. The employees are always very friendly. PERFECT place for letting your dogs out for a quick meal/potty break. So much grass!! The whole center on the South Bound side has grass by every business. But there is a large patch of grass on the backside of the 76 station. Beware of bottle caps, cigarette butts, and anything else you don't want your dog eating.. but that's not the business's fault. Some people just suck and don't clean up after themselves even tho there are garbage bins nearby making it super easy to clean up after yourself / picking up after your dog. I feel lame saying I love this gas station haha. but it's genuinely my favorite stop along I-5. I feel safe, clean, comfortable at this well maintained, busy stop. Being public restroom phobic I never attempt to go to public restrooms. My motto hold it until you burst, but the grapevine I thought better not chance it we still had over and hours drive home. So we stopped here and let me just say it's the rolls Royce of public bathrooms. It was nicely decorated with a Hawaiian theme, everything was clean, every stall was clean and the smell was amazing. This station deserves a 5 star public restroom rating. I will now make this my place to stop whenever we head up north or come home. Thank you for such a great experience...

Leaving a 5-star review because I was pleasantly surprised by how good their chicken sandwich was. So this review will…read morefocus more on the particulars of this location vs. the menu items and their quality... if you've been in one IHOP you've pretty much seen them all. My only real complaint about this location is the wait for a table, and I'm sure it's hard to plan for foot traffic in Lebec, most of the customers are likely travelling and you never know what convention or event is going to suddenly turn a lazy Friday morning into complete bedlam. That said, there was a 30 minute wait even though there were plenty of empty tables (just not enough wait staff). Once seated however, service was great, our server was very friendly and attentive, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The more interesting aspect of this particular location is that it is located inside a Petro Shopping Center... so there's a lot to see while you wait, and you can get ice cream after you have finished your pancakes. There's a HUGE parking lot, so if you can't find parking, I don't recommend stopping!
