Iced Machiatto -made from room temperature milk with a little coffee. No caramel. No vanilla. Pretty gross.
Sonia C.

I finally gave in and went to Starbucks because my daughter wanted their strawberry açaí lemonade drink. I had the iced caramel macchiato and it was pretty good. If I had never returned, I probably would have rated the place a 4. But, I did go back, and my drink was vile. I ordered the same item I had before. What I received was room temperature milk with a little coffee and two ice cubes. I took the drink and hoped it was better than it looked. It wasn't. I threw it in the trash and haven't been back since. Parking at this location is difficult because the layout is poor. This creates dangerous congestion on Woodhead.

Where's the rest?

I come to this Starbucks often, as I work down the street. Yesterday, my coffee was missing a large chunk of it which I hadn't even gotten to taste it. I went back this morning, because I didn't have time yesterday, & showed them the photos of my coffee. The cashier said "oh... yeah, that's when you ask for extra room." I informed her I did not ask for extra room, I don't know why anyone would on a $6 coffee. She was very friendly about it then said "$5.68" I asked her to grab either a manager or lead, because I'd either like a complementary size upgrade or complementary coffee. She said "sure" then grabbed someone to comp it, she said she didn't know how. She grabbed a Hispanic or middle eastern girl, with long hair & a bandanna. She either didn't have a name tag, or I couldn't see it. The girl comped the coffee with a smile, then turned away. THIS is where my review goes to one star. Almost immediately after she turned away I witnessed her start talking smack about me, as if I couldn't see her, to another employee by the drive thru. He could see me looking & quickly said "she's can hear you," so she then walked to where the pastries were. I went to high school & I'm fully aware of what passive shit talking looks. I asked for the GM's number, however I think this review will serve a better purpose instead. I frequent this location, considering I work 2mins away. I would rather drive to the Shepard location by Trader Joe's, than come back here. There's only maybe 3 employees that make it worthwhile. I see why they have 3 stars & customer service issues dating back 3yrs!

Came here before we left Houston and i was definitely in need of coffee!!! Being that I wasn't familiar with the area I just wanted coffee from somewhere I'm familiar with. I did mobile order because my drink is one of those that aren't easy to verbally describe Anyways the starbucks is also a drive thru and has plenty of parking in the lot and a nice outside seating area. The inside is big too and the staff were really nice and welcoming. They got my order perfectly and it tasted better than I've had it in other Starbucks back home! Definitely would come to this one again.

The rudest Starbuck's manager ever, Caroline.
Bruce W.

I come to this location DAILY with my wife and dog and the staff is usually amazing. Today Caroline the new manager was SO snarky; refusing to put sleeves on our piping hot coffees and holding our drinks hostage because we asked her to add the sleeves. She told other staff "do not engage with them" after we requested custody of our drinks. Horrible experience from a rude manager. Starbucks: I know you need managers so badly that you'll pay for their college while they work for you. But you can do better than Caroline.

Difficult rating. GOOD STUFF - drive through barrista, very helpful and a great smile . The "blueberry" muffunf was anything but. Total blueberries 3 I think. Picture below tells it all

1 star for the free large water, 1 star for the drive thru; the latter of which was the only reason I stopped here instead of one of the several local (read: better) coffee shops nearby. The baristas were friendly enough but if I'm paying $6 for a drink it shouldn't already be melted/separating as it's being handed to me. I know it's a classically hot Houston summer but that's unacceptable. Customers shouldn't be allowed to add drinks at the drive thru window if it affects the other beverages in line. It does not disrupt "the third place" to have them drive around. Drink was bleh. Still tipped.

It's great to study in the afternoons here and they have a big parking lot for a montrose location.

Still one of the best coffee places in town. Honestly didn't love the sf vanilla latte but like I…read moredid order a sf vanilla latte - are they ever good? The oat latte my friend got was creamy, well balanced and wonderful. We got the eggs, sausage, and cheese taco, chicken gumbo empanada, and the beef empanada and each one was delicious. The breakfast taco really hit the spot. Just right amount of salty, gooey cheese, and meat. Made my day. The empanadas are huge, enough for two people. Another awesome visit.

Grinder's Coffee Bar came up and it was right across the street so I made my way over. I arrived around 1 p.m. on a Wednesday. I parked in their small complimentary lot and made my way inside. Ambiance (3.5/5): Grinder's is basically two spots in one. When you walk in, there's a small counter where you place your order. And a handful of seats. From there, you wan walk into a more spacious second room that houses a CBD shop. And more seating along with the bathroom. I sat at a couch in the CBD area. While weed isn't my thing, if you're into both weed and coffee, that makes for a nice one-two punch for you. There isn't a ton of seating, less so than most coffee shops. Luckily, since it was a weekday, I didn't have any trouble. I wonder if that's different on the weekends. They also have free WiFi if you'd like to linger and work or study. Service (2.5/5): The menu is a little confusing because they have a menu on the counter and a menu on the wall with different items. I didn't see that there was a menu on the counter until I was about to place an order. They also have some beverages in a cooler that aren't on either menu. Not the best set up. Service wasn't terribly friendly either. Food (N/A): Since I just had lunch prior, no food for me. They have a small, but appetizing number of pastries and small bites for sale if you get the munchies (pun intended). Drinks (3.5/5): I'm not a coffee drinker so take this with a grain of salt. When I go to a coffee shop, I like coffee shops that still have a nice selection of teas and juices. Grinder's has a small number of teas that can be made either hot or iced. I went with one, iced, and sweetened with agave (for a surcharge). I liked it and the price was reasonable. They also had a mocktail of sorts that was available on their seasonal menu, although like most mocktails, overpriced. While not really my vibe, if you're a CBD person, Grinder's will be right up your alley. It's a unique spot and located in a great part of town.

I asked a question and the girl responded to me without turning around or making eye contact - gave me the impression she was annoyed that I was asking a question. There were only two baristas working on a Saturday morning so perhaps they were stressed because it was busy. Coffee was delicious and served with a small chocolate mint. They also serve beer. Variety of pastries. Small parking lot that fills up quickly! There was a line of people outside waiting to get in a few minutes before they opened. They don't open until 9 am which is late for a coffee shop. Highly recommend if you're looking for a cute destination for a casual date or out with a friend.

I love the upper level deck and snagging a cute table overlooking a window. It's definitely a 'one size fits all' that is great for morning work/studying, light afternoon catch up, or a cozy late night vibe. Traditionally, I've seen a lot of people studying during the week while a bit more of a lively feel on weekend evenings. People are very polite but do follow the courtesy of waiting to find a table until after they order, since it can get a little busy. Overall, they are quick with coffee orders with a variety of pastries. Parking is difficult (but it is Montrose!), so anticipate adding a little time to your drive to find a spot. Worth checking out!
