It's kind of a combination of all 3 and I saw people studying, people bringing their family, and friends hanging out. First the good- it's a nice clean place with cute decor. They also have a very large selection of middle eastern pastries and deserts that you don't find in other places and a decent savory menu if you don't want your A1C to shoot up too high. You go and order and they'll bring your food, drink, or desert to you if it's something that needs to be prepared. It's a nice touch that gives it that upscale feeling. I'm not sure if they are actually wait staff that can take your order too or they just multi-task as order takers at the counter, prepare the food, clean tables, or what. Of course, for all the nice environment they provide, they charge a little more than say the Seattle corporate chain that shall not be named again but it's worth it and I totally get it. The part that I don't get is that when I ordered hot tea and I went to the counter with the sweeteners and such, I didn't see any other milk or creamer - fresh or otherwise. When I asked one the above mentioned waiters who was walking by if I could have some, I was told "We don't do that ". In fact, he almost looked offended that I would ask such a thing . I'd completely understand the lack of milk or creamer if I were sitting in a bazaar in Tehran, a tea house in Istanbul but I was in Houston, Texas, so denying a splash of dairy felt like a bizarre, unnecessary hill to die on. Also, besides the gentleman with the beard, nobody else was smiling or seemed approachable and after the tea incident and asking for the wifi password and again seeming to offend another person by asking, I didn't want to bother them that the wifi was not working. Even after I connected to the right SSID (it's the VIP one, not the Guest), internet was down so I had to use my own hotspot. Anyway, I hope this was a misunderstanding because I have to have something to cool off my tea or coffee and if it's ok for Captain Picard to put milk in his Earl Grey tea, then I feel like I'm in good company too and I really would like to try them again at some point. If I can't even put milk in my coffee or tea then I don't see that happening.
