This location is special because it (almost) feels like a neighborhood coffee shop thanks to the incredible staff. When I'm on the go I order in advance on the app and I never have any issues and the team is always speedy. This is my favorite neighborhood Starbucks! All of the employees are so kind and will brighten your mood instantly, even on an early morning pit-stop into work. My drinks are consistently made well and they will fix a drink with no issues if it's not what I'd hoped. There is a generous amount of seating and two clean restrooms in the back. My only small complaint is the speaker in the back corner was broken the last few weeks and the buzzing sound makes it hard to sit and enjoy your coffee. Consistently one of the better Starbucks- super nice staff, and the inside is always so clean! The outside always feels a bit gross though. Not sure why Starbucks can't pay for power washing in the patio area. Especially since this is Ravenswood/Lincoln Square....a pretty upscale area! (Southport always looks nice!!). Coffee is always good. Hardworking staff. Clean place. So, why 3 stars? If you are ordering no frills coffee at 7am, it still takes 12 mins. There were three people in the store, all working hard. There were just too many orders. Go figure! 7am on a weekday, lots of orders. Here are my suggestions from 10,000 ft: 1. Have 4 on staff during morning rush. 2. To heck with the dedicated pastry warmer. Have a dedicated coffee maker. 3. Along those lines, it's probably time for a totally efficient coffee making vending machine in store. This Starbucks is a mad house, and I mean that in a completely positive way. The line is always insane, but service is efficient and kind so it never seems like a big deal. I personally love this Starbucks because there is SO MUCH seating. A couple of 2-people tables at the front that are meant for studying (and great for people watching!!), a few lounging chairs and 4-person tables meant for chatting in the back, and a patio for some fresh air! We placed our order for 3 Travelers at 9:35 am. Nowhere on the app does it say that it takes 10 minutes per traveler. Had I known this, I would've never ordered. Made us late to where we were going. The customer service is awesome! Despite the long line of wait on a Saturday morning, the baristas greeted regulars by their name. Baristas even knew what they typically get! The guy in front of me grabbed some water from the basket. The barista let him know that there's cold water on the bottom. He didn't see, so I grabbed him 2 bottles, which was hidden in the back in the fridge for him. He said thanks and then came my turn. After I ordered my drink, she said, "Thanks for helping to get his water, your drink is on us." A FREE drink! I was shocked! I've always heard that act of kindness goes a long way. What I did was so simple, but it was so nice for the barista to give me a free drink! Look at this photo, does it look like an Iced Shaken Espresso to you or nah?? I've had these specific drinks at other Starbucks locations and they look like the drink on Starbucks advertisements, this one doesn't. Also its bitter af. Where are the four pumps of classic syrup? I had two friends taste it and they both said a troll made this drink taste bad on purpose (lol). It's like they put water, espresso, then shook it up, wtf, that's not how you make it. I knew it was wrong by the color of the drink, no milk, as soon as it was handed to me I knew it was not made correctly. Either the barista who made this drink made it bad on purpose or the barista don't know how to make these drinks because they've f'd up my iced lattes royally bad too. I usually have pleasant experiences at all the Starbucks I go to in Chicago (new Foster/Elston, Western/Waveland, Wilmette, Etc) but this location has made my drinks poorly too many times, I let it slide, and this time I had to say something because its a waste of money at this point. I sat down to read a little and realized about 30 minutes after arriving that I was hearing- for the 3rd time- the same song I'd heard as I was ordering. I used to like that song, too. After hearing it a dozen times in the last hour, I could safely say never hearing it again would be too soon. This is not hyperbole, folks. They really had only 4-5 songs in rotation. Also, it's so loud that I couldn't block it out with my headphones on full volume. The guy who works in the mornings always has something cute, witty or funny to say. I swear if you go in there, having a bad day, the few minutes you wait in line, are well worth it. I guarantee, you will leave there with a smile on your face. I always consider trying out the baked goods, but I'm happy enough with my Tall Java Chip Frap no- whip. Most places I've been, make it way too icy, and I can't enjoy the goodie bits of java chip because they've blended it into a pulp. A well oiled machine. I came here during a morning rush and they flew through it with ease. They are great baristas and I look forward to stopping in. At this tiny little Starbucks is everything I adore about my nieghborhood: It's next door to the glorious Hazel shop, has a Big outdoor eating area with water bowls and places for your puppy, big bright windows, small clean space, half-dozen papers to choose from for reading (including the Wall St. Journal and the NY Times), proximity to the El, plus the coolest baristas that remember your name, what you like and even name of your dog. April said "This ham and brie sandwich is yummy, but the turkey has less fat- depends on which you want today, but the ham will taste better with your latte" SOLD!
