I didn't want to like this place, just because I generally prefer to go to a non-chain coffee shop, but I've been very impressed with the service here for the most part. The baristas are very friendly and less aloof than other Starbucks I've been too. Once, a customer ahead of me in line got something he did not order, made a bit of a stink about it, but left with his wrong drink and went to Chipotle down the street, where I was meeting some one, coincidentally. Always a pleasant experience at this Starbucks. The staff are all friendly and put out mostly consistent drinks. I have only had one or two orders wildly vary from what I ordered. The lines, even on busy days, are faster than most other locations. Food here is hit or miss with availability. read more

This particular location is ripping people off! Twice I ordered a hot flat white coffee and received a half full cup. The second time it happened I spoke to a MANAGER and told her about my first incident and asked if they could make sure my next order was a full cup of coffee (especially since it's so expensive) she began to tell me that is out of their control (which is complete Bull!) after speaking with her and she assured me she will make sure it was full, I received another half full cup of $6 coffee. I am very disappointed with the service here. I also got charged for a danish they no longer had and had to drive all the way back for them to give me a gift card and say they couldn't refund me. Won't be going to THIS Starbucks IF I EVER go back PERIOD. A disappointment and waste of money. read more

While the Starbucks is clearly a welcome addition to the Charles Village area for Hopkins, beware of this location as it definitely is not quite up to par with the other company stores in the area. First off, the store itself is quite small. For a coffee shop next to a major college campus, it wasn't well planned in that students are basically almost never able to find a place to study here. Next, even if you are lucky enough to find a seat, the employees at this location don't seem to give a crap about screaming their conversations at each other so everyone in this tiny store is privy to their thoughts. All it takes is perhaps 10 steps to get from one end of the store to the other... why yell? And here's the kicker: while I know this example is not indicative of all the employees here, I was still taken aback when I heard some of their conversation. At one point, the two employees were talking with each other with the following convo (paraphrasing, but you get the gist): Employee 1: have you noticed how all the korean people order Americanos? Employee 2: yeah, what's up with that? Employee 1: I bet it's because they want to be more American... Seriously? So, all in all, a good place to stop to grab a cup of coffee, but don't plan on studying here, or at least not well. read more

I'm not to crazy about my neighborhood Starbucks anymore . I'm a black male that's been going to this Starbucks since 2007 but I'm finding the new manager Hillary not too "black man " friendly . I have twice been in the line waiting and waiting for service . Hillary has been very friendly both time to the white guys in front of me with " good morning "or simple "hello" but not when it came to me and I've watched her interaction with other black men it's nothing . Hillary as the leader should show that she's more approachable, smile and treat all her customers the same . Not very happy with my neighborhood Starbucks too much anymore . Location is great for Hopkins students. Staff is always friendly and if any problems arise, they always take care of them right away. Bought the Medium Guatemala Antigua coffee beans. Just tried it at home... Delicious blend. Also, if you get two coffee bags, you get a 3rd one for free! read more

I'm extremely undecided about life in general, and was having difficulty deciding what to get. The staff was very friendly, and made helpful suggestions. I don't really like the drinks here anymore. There used to be great baristas who made great teas (as sugar/water/ice ratio is VERY important to me) but not anymore.. I would come here more often to get some work done. It's almost always crowded with people but the afternoons are a little slower. They recently renovated this place and it is beautiful. Bathroom sometimes gets a little ratty despite the lock (homeless people used to take showers here).. but still does the job.. so in terms of getting work done, I would say it is a decent place where I will certainly return but not somewhere I would come for drinks. read more

I ordered the mango black tea lemonade in the Starbucks at Charles Village, Baltimore on May 1, 2017. I said my name was Claire, but the attendant wrote "Lin" on the Cup. At that time, nobody ordered the same drink as me. I felt humiliated by that reaction. To write "Lin" no matter what specific name of a person is offensive to Asian people. I do require your apology for this otherwise I will never purchase any product in Starbucks again. read more

The drinks are consistent and deeelicious! Just make sure you give yourself a bit more time than you think you'll need, because they take their time here making your drinks. They do speed it up quite a bit during the 2 for 1 holiday drink specials time though... read more

this is the slowest and most incompetent starbucks i've been to in a long time. it took me ten minutes to get an iced coffee this morning with only two very simple drinks in front of me because the person at the bar was busy flirting with the person they pulled out of line so they wouldn't have to pay for the drink. i'm all about free drinks for folks, but maybe next time make sure all the drinks people are waiting for are done before you start chatting it up with someone you know. all of this happened while the store manager or assistant manager stood there and continued with morning prep without saying a thing to the barista. unfortunately this isn't nowhere near the first time something like this has happened. i'm surprised if i am in and out of there in under five minutes even with no other customers there. read more

It's a very small space. For two days it jsut so happened to be the same barista and the drink that he serves is not the same as the standard drink. Went in for Midnight Mint Mocha frap and the drink was bland/flat, no mint flavor and no SUGAR at all. Got them to remake it and the lady asked if Ive had the drink before, which I did because I have been ordering the drink 3-4 times since it came out at a different location, and the lady said it's usually very dark and I can see your order and nothings wrong with it but we'll remake it. She then went on to have the barista to remake it all while saying some snarky remarks while I was standing right in front of them. The taste was very different from the other starbucks close by. Also ordered a caramel cluster frap, and again, the same barista gave me an unsatisfying drink. The frap was very watery and runny, it didnt resemble a regular frappuccino. 5 mins later the drink is completely melted down and its just like a regular iced coffee. Needless to say, I will not be coming back to this location for 3 reasons 1. For the last two times ive gone, a certain barista/cashier have been talking in such a way that is distasteful. For the two consecutive days i visited this location. 2. The drink are just not as good as some locations have. And 3. The space. It gets crowded a lot and there usually isnt open space/tables to study. I usually go to the starbucks 7mins away from this one in 41st st. They have a big space, great place to study and very nice and friendly staff. read more

BAD LINES.....Lines out the door. I've walked out of this place so many times. I end up having to go up to the Barnes and Noble Starbucks. They don't have FRAPACINO HOURS, or treat their regular coffee clients like second class citizens. This is Baltimore, waiting 10 minutes for a cup of coffee is like paying a cover charge. This place makes fine drinks, a few of the employees are great, and this is the closest Starbucks to my house so I will definitely be back, so I couldn't justify one star. That being said, the efficiency and cleanliness of the behind-the-counter area and milk/sugar station should get this place one star. I'm a former Starbucks barista and I would have been fired if I had let the counter look like the one here does. There is constantly spilled milk and sugar and trash cans are overflowing. Behind the counter, there are always a million milk jugs lying around, spilled coffee beans, empty bags, and it just looks like total dirty chaos. Also, they are so slow here! There is always a line of at least 3 people in front of me, and both the wait to get to the register and the wait to get your drinks are so long that I have left to go somewhere else multiple times (and I'm usually in by myself, ordering one tall or grande standard drink and no food. I'm not placing an order that should take a long time). If you go here, be prepared and know that this is NOT a place you can just "run in" for a coffee. Be prepared to wait. read more
