Unfortunately, I have to report yet another less-than-ideal encounter with barista Dulaney. On Friday, November 14, 2025, at about 8:13 a.m., I stopped by the Starbucks at 1812 Ashland Ave (Store #47806) to pick up my mobile order with my emotional support dog, just as I do almost every morning. This was the day after the incident where I felt singled out and discriminated against by the same barista. While she didn't speak to me this time, the way she looked at me made it clear the issue wasn't over for her. If looks could unalive someone, my dog and I probably wouldn't be here. She looked me and my dog up and down repeatedly, rolled her eyes, and gave us several looks of disgust. She was even mumbling under her breath. She didn't say anything directly, but the hostility was obvious. As I waited for my drink, several regular patrons and a few of the other baristas chatted with me and my pup like they normally do--which only highlighted the contrast in how I was being treated by Dulaney. A bit later, another customer walked in with their dog to pick up their order, and once again, Dulaney said nothing to them about dogs being in the store. This only confirmed what I already felt: I was being treated differently, and unfairly. It's extremely disappointing to write this, especially as someone who has been a loyal customer here for years and as an Elite Yelper. This store has always had friendly baristas, a great manager, and a welcoming atmosphere. That's why I've come back almost daily. But this is now the second day in a row where I've felt uncomfortable and unwelcome because of one employee. This is an issue that needs to be addressed, as it is beginning to reflect on the store and the overall Starbucks experience I've always appreciated. read more

Came here for my birthday and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location was clean and there was nice music in the background. The drinks here are always the best to me, and they are very consistent with their drinks. read more

This is actually one of two starbucks locations I frequent in the city for its proximity. I recommend ordering in advance as it will save you time since employees here do absolutely prioritize the online orders vs in store orders if they have a rush. I've never had a bad experience at this location with the small exception of them getting my order wrong today. I ordered a chai and got a coffee. That said, immediately upon my letting them know that this happened, not only did they immediately work on fixing this by making me a new drink, but the employee updated my grande size to a Venti for the mistake. By far the greatest Starbucks I've ever been to. The staff is incredibly friendly, diverse, REAL and patient! My colleague and I make a trip several times a week not just for the product but for the customer service. They can tell when our days are ROUGH and they are all truly appreciated! This is the best Starbucks from Dc to Baltimore I am a regular patron. The owner Leo is always in the store greeting people and making sure everyone is happy. Maya, Kai, Adele and the rest of the crew are amazing! They are always friendly and the drinks are so good. Stepping foot into this Starbucks will turn anyone's day into a good day. Conveniently located on Johns Hopkins medical campus. Like every Starbucks, your drink quality depends on the Barista making it. The quality of the drink does vary a bit depending on when I visit the place. It's weird, because I thought Starbucks had a manual for making all their drinks. Another things, they do not have much study-feasible seating. They have couple couches and one big table with 6-chairs, but not outlets. Their audience seems to be busy medical professionals- doctors, nurses, PAs, researchers, etc- who are in need of quick coffee pick-up in the morning. However, it's nice that there is a Starbucks on campus, close to most of the research buildings. Also, they are part of the rewards system, which makes it even more convenient for me (who happen to be a gold member.) read more

So excited this finally opened! Loved the open window design. Definitely makes it a good place to study/work! The only downside is that it doesn't seem like there were a lot of outlets for charging electronics. All the baristas are extremely friendly and nice too! Making the drinks to perfection. read more

Finally a Starbucks I can walk to from my house. This location is perfect for Johns Hopkins and the new community. This location is huge!!! Of course the lounge areas was full on the inside as normal but the deck seating wasn't. They have the corner so it's seating on both sides. The customer service experience was wonderful besides them giving my black Berries because they didn't have strawberries for my Refresher I think he should have asked before just giving it to me. A great Starbucks! Nice, comfy chairs and in an awesome location. It's the perfect place to get some work done while sipping on a cup of joe. The staff was great also. I realized that the tea I ordered was incorrect and asked for a decaf coffee instead. They made it with no questions asked. I'll be back next time I'm in the area! read more

Really BAD experience. The worst Starbucks! I ordered a venti size drink with no ice and they give me it with 1/4 space empty. WHAT'S HAPPENED? I asked why they don't make it full, and the staff said because I ordered no ice. However, most Starbucks staff will make it full. I will have no complaints if there is only a 1cm or 2cm empty space, but a venti cup with its top 1/4 space not full is ridiculous. This one has a tap for nitro cold brew!!! It is a little tucked away from the busy central part of the Hopkins medical campus. Plenty of seating - indoor and outdoor, and outdoor looks out to the beautiful new green space. read more

It's great that we got a Starbucks on east campus, but it's only open till 9 pm, and students actually START drinking coffee at 10pm! That's why you lose two starts Starbucks at Ashland, please please extend your hours! :) read more
