I recently bought a Mazda 3 here and worked with Kyle Groom. My husband and I found this dealership through the Costco Auto Program. Kyle was very laid back and knowledgable. We didn't feel pressured at all. It could not have gone more smoothly. I would definitely recommend giving Kyle a call! read more

So grateful for the service from the Star Mazda Service team; in particular, I had a great experience with Mike "Tuffy" Tufillaro; a warm professional who went above and beyond to make sure that I got the service required at a good price (and made sure all of my questions were answered). An informed professional with a friendly temperament...very refreshing to see in the auto care community. read more

Let me start with thanking the STAR crew for taking such good care of me and my wife. We got our cars here and have been taking them when its time for service. I have owned my Mazda for about five years now and have been taking it to the dealer I bought it from for service (Long Beach), but it's just too far from my home. I decided to try Star Mazda and I was so pleased with their service! They honored the coupons I would have used at the other dealer and even took me home or to the galleria while they fixed my car. Gus, the service manager, was very courteous and informative when it came time to telling me what was wrong with my car. Actually, all the service people are really nice. I even got lucky a couple of times when they had a taco guy there, so I was able to eat lunch too. I was always scared to bring my car in for service because it may cost too much. But luckily, I don't feel the same anymore. Usually dealers wouldn't be my first choice but now I would highly recommend coming to Star Mazda for all your service needs. Ask for Gus, he'll take good care of you....that's probably why he's been the service manager for over 20 years. P.S. It's a good idea to make an appointment or just call first to make sure there aren't too many people or appointments already...it could be a long wait. Better yet, request to be shuttled to the Americana or Galleria so you can get some shopping done while you wait! read more

I bought a Mazda 3 from Star and I had a great experience. I actually live in Santa Barbara, but I decided to come down to LA and buy it there because I had a great first impression with one of the sale guys first over email and then at the phone. We agreed on a quote and when I got there there was no surprise. I visited several dealers before Star, and all the time I had the same bad experience: they promise something at the phone and when you are there, they can't deliver the same deal (different price, different finance, they don't have the color I want etc etc....) On top of everything: I bought the car on a Sunday and I was not able to obtain full insurance until the next day, so I was going to spend the night there and drive back the following day, but the guy who sold me the cat offered spontaneously to drive me home all the way up to Santa Barbara. Post sale experience is as excellent. I had a lot of questions after I bought the car and they are always nice, helpful and fast in replying. read more

It is as good as it gets. read more

I was SO nervous taking my new vehicle to these guys for its first service, however since they are literally down the road and I have a child who I would be toting with me I took the chance. They were actually ok. Here's the details: I arrived at 8:15am and was told the service would take an hour. I explained that if at all possible I would love it by 9am as I had somewhere to be at 9. They called me at 8:55am with it ready. Naturally I have no idea if they really did everything that was supposed to be done as I am not a mechanic, but I am going to trust they did and if I find out later they didn't then this will most certainly be a revised review. The only negative I would mention is that the car wasn't washed when I picked it up. They did mention that this was because I needed the car quicker, so based on the fact they managed to accommodate this I am still happy. read more

I recently moved from NY to LA and was in the market for a new car. After doing some research I decided on a Mazda3 without knowing much or having test drove the car. After reading some stellar reviews on Yelp, I reached out to Kyle Groom, the sales manager at this location and made an appointment to get more details on the car. Little did I know I ended up with a car the very same day! Kyle made the entire process easy and dare I say enjoyable. I was wowed by his knowledge and honesty throughout the process. This was my first time leasing a car and it was very helpful to have all the details and run though the numbers prior to signing the papers. I HIGHLY recommend making an appointment with Kyle if you are in the market for a new Mazda. I love my new car. Thanks Kyle! read more

Loved the service and ease when buying my new car. Thank you Kyle!!! I was looking to purchase a small suv as soon as possible. I haven't bought a car in about 5 years. Heard about costco auto, got an email from Kyle, got a call from Kyle. He sent me the information after I told him what I wanted. Scheduled an appointment, which Kyle was great and let me change on the same day two times and made it work for me. When I got there, there was NO pressure, NO sales pitch. He answered all my questions and then helped me find the exact car I wanted, which was different then what I had wanted when I walked through the door. He got me a great trade in deal (pretty much what I had wanted) which took out the hassle of trying to sell it on my own! Then walked through the financing without the additional extra sales pitches.... then got the car and drove off the lot!!!! Loved the ease, love the car. And Thank you again Kyle!!!! He was realllllly the best! read more

Got a great price on a used CX-5 and it was a really pleasant experience dealing with Kyle via email!

The internet salesman, Kyle, is so great! Total opposite of what you expect pushy salesmen to be. He was so friendly, had the car detailed and ready for me to test drive. He followed up with a phone call right away, and gave me a follow up phone call before our appointment to check in. I am so happy with my purchase and overall experience, I couldn't be happier! read more

I have never leased a car before, and I had a really good experience here. Specifically Kyle was a pleasure to work with.. he was super honest, laid out all the information that I needed (and I needed a lot), took his time with me, explaining the car when I finally got it - after a few hours.. he was not rushing us & I felt really confident that I was getting the best deal. I just moved to LA from New York City and I was slightly dreading the thought of going through the "car process" but Kyle Groom is a terrific guy. He made the entire process very comfortable and dealt with me with ease as I looked over all my options. He offered help, clarification and got us the car we wanted at the right price. He's a consummate professional, not a "hard-seller" just a friendly, caring man and he couldn't have made the process more comfortable. I unequivocally recommend Kyle and Star Mazda to anyone looking for a pleasant, well managed dealership for any reason. read more

Recently purchased a new Mazda3 i Sport with Star Mazda. I went through the Costco auto program and was taken care of by Kyle Groom. It was quick, painless and he made the entire process simple. Had a pretty good experience for a first time car buyer. I appreciated internet sales manager, Kyle's quick responses to my email inquiries prior to my coming in. He also came in on a Sunday to meet with me, even though Sunday was his day off. Lastly, he drove down to a Huntington Beach dealer to bring me the car in the color I wanted, since the one we were communicating about had recently been sold. So I appreciate all his effort to get me the car I wanted! I only wish they could have been a little more flexible with price negotiation. Having great credit and putting down a large down payment, I was hoping to get the advertised 0% APR. Once I got there, I was told that the low price I was quoted would not come with 0% APR. I understand it was a 2016 model and a popular car (CX5 touring trim in silver), so it does make sense that they do have the advantage with price negotiations. I've never paid interest before, so I was a bit upset; but I knew this was the car I wanted and I was planning on purchasing as long as the pricing wasn't astronomical. I did appreciate Kyle's friendly demeanor and he even offered advise on how to make my credit even better. He seems like a genuinely nice person who cares about others. I will come here next time I am ready to purchase again or trade in my car. One other thing worth mentioning is that I was hoping to get $500 for my '98 Ford Escort trade in, but I only got $300. True, the windshield was cracked and the check engine light was on, but it only had 116,000 miles and power doors and windows worked. I didn't know it was possible to get lower than $500 from a dealer, so I was disappointed, but again I wanted to move on with my new car and not have to deal with my old car, so I didn't put up any arguments. Overall, it was a good experience. Everyone was very friendly and they had free Starbucks coffee, which was awesome. If I could have gotten 0% APR and $500 for my trade it, I would rate it 5 stars. I love my car, thanks Star Mazda! :) read more

Kyle helped me to get into a new Mazda 3 this weekend and I'm extremely happy with the service and information he provided as I went through this process. No surprises once I got to the dealership, got the exact car I wanted at the right price on the same day. 10/10 will lease again. read more

Came here to purchase my 2014 Mazda 3 Hatchback 5 months ago and used the Costco deal. It definitely helped with not having to haggle the price and I was up and out of the dealership in less than 2 hours. Using the Costco deal I was able to save nearly $2000 off the invoice and also got $200 to use on services which came in handy when I had an accident a month later. I was able to talk to them about the vehicle prior to picking it up and overall the experience was decent. Kyle helped with the aftercare as well when I needed servicing done. Definitely recommend using your COSTCO deal (if you have it) and coming here if you're a local. read more

I just had my first ever car buying experience with Star Mazda, and currently I'm very happy. I was in the market for a used Mazda 3, and saw on the Star Mazda website an advertised top o' the line 2013 S Touring hatchback, with a 2.5 liter engine, and all the bells and whistles (sunroof, bluetooth, leather, Navi, blind spot monitor, yada yada). The online advertised price was $18,630. I called them up and talked to John (Ohanes), who said he'd meet me there. Half an hour later I was there, he was ready with the key. The sign on the car in the lot advertised the car for $21K+. I mentioned the price I saw online, and he nodded, saying, "yes we'll give you that price." He didn't ask me for my driver's license, so off we went! We took a good long test drive, including the freeway, because I do a lot of freeway driving. Car was in perfect cosmetic condition, drove well, and I was in love and ready to buy. A tad of haggling later (they dropped the price a bit), a decent offer to trade in my decade old Subaru, and I drove out the door with a car I am currently thrilled with!! It was Certified Pre-Owned (one person had leased it for 3 years), and when I noted that one of the boxes on the CPO checklist hadn't been checked, John went to the service manager, and came back with the box checked. I put down 5, financed the rest at 2.95%, and while paperwork always takes a while, I arrived there at 3:30, and was done by around 7 PM. John showed me how the Navi worked, got me an Owner's Manual, demonstrated everything, helped me clean out my old car. I was very pleased with his customer service attitude (I mean, 2 other dealerships I had gone to kept me waiting in the hot sun, tried to sell me a car I didn't want). He was straightforward, professional, responsive and I trusted him. I hadn't bought a used car in over 30 years, so I was kind of a babe in the woods. Five days later, the car is running great, and I'm going to have my mechanic check it out and will report back. I just want to add that it's really important to suss out the best listed/advertised price for a car, which is often found online. If I hadn't seen that $18,630 price listed on the website, I would have been haggling a lot more at the dealership over the 21K+ price. The dealer must honor the advertised price. read more

If I had the ability to rate a zero I would. Worst possible experience Ive ever had with this dealership. Be warned... They will apply for at least 6 loans at once and pick the highest interest rate while not notifying you of this... They will also pick the lowest credit score based on the bank that is least qualified. And they still have the guts to tell you your credit is low even when you have perfect credit. All of this comes out on your credit report and makes you look real bad. I don't even think this is legal. Scam artists. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

Since I purchased 2 new cars from Star Mazda, Rodney has since left Star Mazda and we've had multiple problems with our cars. Ralph was fired soon after our purchases because he lied to me about the car I was getting, thus I paid more for a lesser car. The new management in place won't do anything to help resolve any issues. I regret giving Star Mazda my business. read more

I drove to this dealership from the other side of town to be completely ignored! I've never had such a hard time trying to just look inside a car at a dealership. I went into the service station to see where I should go. I walked all the way inside the sales area to use the restroom without even being asked if I would like help. When I came out there was a man watching t.v. and another lady that seemed to be a secretary working at her desk. The guy walked away when I asked if I could see inside a cx-5 and they lady just looked up to say yes. I then asked if it was open and she said if it wasn't she'd sent someone out. I stood outside for several minutes walked back up to look inside to see a different man just stand and look at me so I just left. I can't imagine owning a car from a place that has no service like this. I'll drive to the Galpin Dealership with better reviews. read more

I was at star mazda service today, they were great !! In and out and on time.. BIG SHOUT OUT TO JERRY, HE WAS GREAT!!!

I've been going to this Mazda dealership for the past year and a half and they always do more than expected! Roy Wells, the manager, is the best with customer service. There was a hiccup we experienced with my car key and he made sure to fix the problem immediately. He even remembered my name and who I was almost over a year after the incident! He's so kind and gracious and wonderful to work with. I feel like I'm really taken care of when Roy is at the helm. David Gomez was so fun to work with yesterday and super on top of communication. He made sure I wasn't overpaying for any parts or service and gave me the best deals. Furthermore, he helped me put my new license plates on my car and removed pesky old registration stickers from my windshield. My car looks and feels brand new after my appointment with Star Mazda yesterday! As for their service outside of the shop, I had two great Star Mazda drivers who dropped me off and picked me up from home during my car service. They were both very sweet and rounded out my positive experience with the team yesterday. I look forward to many more years of this one-stop-stellar-shop at Star Mazda! read more

After meticulous research (my boyfriend has to know every possible option out there) and several visits to dealerships throughout LA, we quickly felt comfortable at Star Mazda (compared with other places). We contacted Kyle in the Internet Department in advance and he had the car ready for us when we arrived. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the Mazda line and the particular car we were looking at, but also admitted when he was not certain (and sought answers for us). We tried to negotiate a bit, as is the norm, but we were already getting an excellent deal compared to KBB values and the car had additional features that the previous owner had installed. Kyle spoke with his manager and said there was no wiggle room on the price, but that he would fill up the tank and give us the first oil change free. The buying process was pleasant, easy, and when we called to say that we would be a bit late as we were dropping the dog at home, he told us just to bring her! Fast forward 2 months later and my new car is T-boned in wonderful LA traffic. We anticipated a total loss and called Kyle that day to ask about their inventory and his first questions were: "Are you two ok?" and "Was Skyla (our dog) in the car?" Early the next week, he emailed just to see how we were feeling after the accident and sent a list of comparable cars at my request. The car we decided on (another CPO 2011 Mazda3 S Sport Hatchback) did not even make it out on the lot as the Mazda crew worked hard to have the car ready as quickly as possible for me. I hate shopping and spending large amounts of money, particularly on something that I am not that knowledgeable about (note: you still need to do your research). Star Mazda was the first dealership that I walked in and did not feel like I was getting sweet-talked or screwed. Many thanks to Kyle! read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. I would only like to thank Israel for being very helpful and very understanding and going through everything for me. I was very excited to come to this dealership, which I had been looking into for weeks now. I even drove out of my way to come here from a far distance AFTER working a 9 hour shift, because of how excited I was. I was looking to get my first car and I want it to be a Mazda, the perfect car for me with a great deal was here and I was extremely excited and ready to leave with my car. After being here for about two hours, patience with all of the process, we were asked to make our way to the finance office. As we stepped in, the extremely rude finance manager Don Mccurd was sitting there on the phone-not a professional call- and did not welcome us or immediately hang up. After about 3 minutes, he finally hung up and did not even apologize for making us wait. The first thing he said was "what's going on with your insurance" as he slammed his hands on his desk as if it was an inconvenience to him. He then accused my mom of not knowing her knowledge of our insurance-mind you my mom is a car insurance agent and has worked there for 20+ years for the company we are insured with- he continued to speak over my mom and she tried to explain to him her knowledge of our insurance policy. He was very unprofessional, from the moment we stepped into his office. I felt very uncomfortable, it seemed like it was a race issue. As a finance MANAGER, he should know how to act right and handle situation professionally and not accuse customers, and try to calmly make a resolution. He kept arguing and arguing and was not prioritizing making a sale and having a happy customer. AND the sales manager tried to excuse his behavior by saying Don was there all day and might just be tired. This is his job, there are no excuses for the way he treated us. I'm sad my time was wasted and I drove far, to not leave with the car I wanted. It might have been a race issue, considering he was white and my mother and I are mexican. He refused to let us speak or try to understand us, after the white couple that left his office left completely happy and satisfied. After reading reviews on Don, it could have been that we were women and he was being sexist. Who knows, but white privilege is a real thing. Sad for Israel who was very helpful and had it going for us, and lost a deal to a stupid manager. Glad I did not end up buying from people who employ someone with such horrible service. Thank you Don for ruining my first experience purchasing a car, and leaving me disappointed. Hopefully one day he will act right and treat all customers well! read more

This is a review about the MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, not the sales. PAST experience at a DIFFERENT Mazda dealership: I have also had bad maintenance experiences in the past at Sierra Mazda, so I can relate to what some people complain about here. A few years back, I went to Sierra Mazda for a routine 20-something-k miles maintenance and I asked why my brakes were squeaking. I drove out of there with a $350 brake job and brakes that still squeaked. Ever since then, I have been very suspicious of dealerships. CURRENT experience at Star Mazda: With that said, I wanted to tell my positive experience here at Star. First, the Service Consultant I talked to was Mike "Tuffy" Tufillaro. My Mazda3 Hatchback had about 34k miles on it and about two months left on a 36k mile lease. Having my past experience at Sierra Mazda, I tend not to say much when I first bring in the car. I did not have an appointment, but there were not many cars being serviced on a mid-afternoon Thursday, so Mike told me it could be done in a little after an hour. He gave me the quote for $95 on the routine maintenance and asked if I had any coupons. I told him I did not, and he said, "ok, we might have some around here". He then told me he would call after the inspection and let me know if anything else needed to be done to the car. After an hour, I returned and he gave me the breakdown of what the inspection found and his recommendations. 1) The brakes were approaching red zone and needed new pads, resurfacing and fluid flush. 2) Fuel System Service 3) Battery Failure (which I did notice because my car was lagging to start at times) The total for all the recommendations was around $700 and he said, "we can do whatever you want." That's when I told him that the car had two months left on the lease and before I could continue, he said "Oh, I didn't know this was a lease. In that case, I would do nothing. Absolutely nothing. Why spend that money on someone else's car?" He assured me the car would make it through the rest of the lease and then said, "Oh, by the way, we found the coupon and it's gonna be $61.37 today." To me, that's a 5 star experience. Ask for Mike "Tuffy" Tufillaro. read more
