YOUR LIFE IS TOO IMPORTANT TO TRUST TO STAR MAZDA. I paid $110 so Star Mazda would look at my car after an accident, and they didn't even open the hood. I was driving in a seriously dangerous car for a long time before a competent mechanic (a friend of the family) pointed out that it hadn't been inspected at all. CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE. A CAR SERVICED HERE IS NOT SAFE. read more

i bought my brand new mazda a couple months ago so this is a bit late... oh did i mention i went to ANOTHER mazda dealer to buy it after the TERRIBLE service me and my family received here? i was in the search of a brand new car and fell in love with a mazda. being that my parents worked in the area i told them we should meet at star mazda after work. my mom got there about 10 minutes early, walked around, looked inside for a sales person and though there were no other customers around they COMPLETELY ignored her. by the time me and my dad got there we had a sense that these people were complete jerks. my dad, being the intelligent auto-buyer did his research, got quotes from other dealerships and found out that they were over charging for the model we wanted and politely tried to bargain with them. not only did the sales person say no, he got the "manager" to tell us that he "would do a back flip" if we found a better deal... well we did and we were treated infintely better at a dealership that deserves our business, so mr. manager i have something id really like to flip for you... read more

Well, I just bought a new 3i touring from Star Mazda in Glendale and here is my experience. I used Edmunds quote and several dealers responded for around $18500. I picked Star Mazda because Greg, the Internet guy, seemed most straightforward and credible. I mentioned about $250 lender bonus money that Edmunds shows as a customer rebate. He told me the APR Cash (the lender bonus) would bring it down to $18259. I eventually negotiated another $100 down. Great deal, especially given 0% financing, right? He had to do a dealer swap to get the car that I wanted. When I came in to sign, he said he couldn't honor $100 off from the original deal that we negotiated because it was a dealer swap. Fine, he did the work, and it was worth $100. I was tired with sickness and this distracted me enough that I failed to notice missing $250 lender rebate. (Yeah I know, it was my fault). I called Greg to ask him about it, and he mumbled something about $18259 with lender rebate was for the cash purchase only. (No, it didn't make sense to me either). I sent him a polite email explaining our deal and that $250 lender rebate should've been given to me. Greg responded saying that he talked it over with the general manager, and the rebate was a dealer money so they were keeping it, and that he has no recollection of mentioning $18259. The obvious lesson that everybody know and I forgot temporarilly: review all papers carefully before signing and cross check with the original deal regardless how much you trust the guy. Managing a dealer like this requires you to be constantly on guard. You have better things to do in life, and it just ain't worth IMO. read more

Car service has never been so easy!!! I've dreaded doing this in the past.... I've had 3 Mazdas, so I've been coming here a while. There is a new person in service, her name is Loucretia Velasco. She was very friendly, kept in communication with me, efficient and made my experience welcoming. I'm glad there is a female here! read more

Worst dealership I've ever dealt with, and I've dealt with many. As my profile may tell, I'm not one of those yelpers more inclined to give negative reviews. Most of my reviews are 4-5 star, but Mazda of Glendale has to be the most shady dealership I have ever dealt with. I assisted a friend of mine with purchasing her Mazda 3. First, numbers changed (drastically) from what we were told over the phone to what it actually was when we arrived in person. Of course, they fed us this story about quoting us incorrectly because they thought we lived in Santa Barbara (the tax ix 8% vs 9%) and they thought we were talking about a Mazda 6 instead of a Mazda 3 - What?! How do you even come to those conclusions? Second, after a headache of finally coming to an agreement with a price, the finance manager doing the paperwork slips in an extra product we did not agree to purchase. We said yes to the Gap insurance, and we didnt find out until after that we had signed paperwork for some kind of "lease wear protection." Really?! Selling us products we didn't agree to? Ridiculous dealership. read more

So after the horrible experience I had with the purchase process as mentioned in my initial review where I gave them 1 star and explained why, I had been avoiding them for service until about 8 months ago when I figured I've give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised with the great customer service I had in that visit. I just called to schedule the next service and to my surprise I was told since I have very low miles on my car I did not need to bring it in yet. The dash service due indicator light is set to go off on a timed interval so I can wait to hit the recommended mileage before bringing it in. Most others would have just had me come in even though I didn't need it. read more

So the last time I write a review I was pleased with them With new management this place has changed, they worry about there pockets not the customer. My car was missed diagnosed and the manager said it was not covered by warranty, I went to another mazda who said something else. I believe charging a customer for a service that is warrantied is against the automotive bar. If you are here please leave they will rip you off. read more

So disappointed with this place. I bought a Mazda 3-4 years ago and started coming here to get it serviced because it's local. From the very beginning, I've had problems with Star Mazda's service department. One time I had scheduled an appointment to bring my car in and they didn't make a record of the appointment, so I showed up bright and early on a Saturday morning only to learn they were "overbooked" and couldn't accommodate me that day. Another time, I was bringing my Mazda in for a specific repair they had recommended I make, and they couldn't service my car because they didn't have the necessary part--which happens (I guess? but it was a pretty run-of-the-mill type of part they should have had on hand) and they didn't bother calling and letting me know, so that was another wasted Saturday morning. I stuck with this place for the next couple of years because it seemed like they were undergoing a reorganization of their business to appear more "customer-friendly". Suddenly, I'd get calls and emails after a service appointment following up on my needs, making sure everything was fine, etc. Even though they'd start pinging me with reminder emails to take my car in for maintenance before it really needed to go in, it was like they were bending over backward to try and improve their image. And it was nice while it lasted. It lulled me into thinking that maybe this place had changed, maybe they were actually starting to listen to their customers to try and combat all the negative reviews posted about them. Then I took my car in for a routine check-up a couple weeks ago (approx. 60,000 miles), and was informed that I urgently needed new tires. It was recommended I do this right away, out of concern for my safety and because they're having this October deal on tires where it costs "only" in the $700s to replace them. I was heading out of town and didn't have time to deal with the tire issue right then (side note: got a second opinion on the tires and I'm fine 'til the end of the year). Driving home, I noticed something didn't feel right about my car--it just didn't drive as well as it used to. But it wasn't until I was heading to work on Monday that I fully appreciated the super loud rattle coming from the back of my car; it sounded awful, like the back of my car was coming apart. Tried to take it in the next Saturday but they were "overbooked" again. So I took it in today and explained the problem and added nicely hey, I don't want to point fingers here, but my car was fine when I took it in two weeks ago and then immediately after it was serviced it started having this problem; I'm not going to be an ass and complain about how I'm wasting another day at the dealership for a problem caused by the service department, but I'm not expecting to pay for whatever the dept. neglected to fully screw on, tighten, etc. the first time. I received so much attitude from Mike "Tulli", who told me the rattle was due to a problem with my suspension and gave me a long explanation about how the rattle couldn't possibly be the fault of the service department because they didn't work directly on the suspension the last time I brought it in, so I needed to pay for this repair. I may not know much about cars (which I'm sure "Tulli" was playing on), but when my car is fine when I drop it off at the dealership and then noticeably not fine when I pick it up, I'm supposed to believe it's some coincidence? We kept arguing about it, and finally I just paid for the repair. But I am definitely NOT coming back here again. If you don't read the top part of the review (and I don't blame you, it's long), read this: Star Mazda has TERRIBLE customer service and they try to rip you off whenever they think they can get away with it. Do not come here read more

went here for service. clutch won't catch. super nice guys up front. called me an hour later to let me know that the clutch was gone (on a 3.5 year car with 28,000 miles) and as a "courtesy to me" they looked at everything else and my rear brakes are shot, too. what choice do i have. anyway for $1700 they can have it done by the end of the day and will call me to pick it up this afternoon. right. so i wait for the call and when i finally call them, i'm blown off by the rude woman who answers the phone and tells me twice that she can't help me. customer service: calling to say it's going to take longer when you previously projected same-day service. read more

Took my Mazda 3 in for some routine maintenance here, only because I wanted to get a quote on a broken seatbelt. Before even starting they quoted my maintenance alone at 1500! The quote included some of the most nonsense items like changing out the wipers at a cost of 150-200 dollars. I'm not a mechanic but it felt like the usual run around of a service department trying to charge a customer for everything they don't need. I'll never be coming back here again. read more

Service Dishonest? Brought car in for 6-month service. Had a coupon and the service rep first said he didn't recognize the coupon even though the coupon clearly said in the back it was sent by Star Mazda. Then Gary said this would not include tire rotation. I asked for the coupon back and pointed out that the coupon clearly listed tire rotation on it. Have always had my car serviced at one of 2 Mazda dealerships. Service rep said I was due for Major service at 29,000 miles. I asked if the service schedules were on their website, Gary told me told me "yes". I could not find any service schedules which detailed what service is included with a Major service. During the service, Gary then phoned me and informed me the mechanic said my transmission fluid needed to be changed, ~ $200 and my fuel injectors need to be cleaned ~ $240. Declined this service. Sounded very suspicious since 6 months earlier I brought my car to the dealer who did the Full Circle Service and everything checked out "Green", no yellow warnings. After I paid for this 6-month service, Star never gave me the Full Circle Service sheet for this visit. Maybe he didn't want his potential lies in writing? I just don't trust Gary. read more

The 2 stars are for the amazing receptionist that helped during my nightmare of a time here. But everyone else here gets zero stars. When I first leased my car in 2015, they lost my NY license plates that I needed to send back once I traded my old car in. LOST. GONE. WHAT?!?! The rude finance manager (Steven) told me I wouldn't be able to pay my car payments and my mom would end up paying for them. And to this day my mom hasn't paid a single car payment for me. Douchebag. The price for my routine maintenance was outrageous. It was so unorganized and the employees were being pulled in a million different directions. I had an appointment scheduled for 11a and was not helped until 11:27a. They offered the courtesy shuttle to me to take me to the Americana which I thought was nice until they said they couldn't get a hold of the driver. So I ubered and they reimbursed me. Then when I was getting a ride back the shuttle driver who spoke minimal English drove off on me TWICE. So I called an uber myself and told them they were reimbursing me. (This ordeal took 45 minutes) And then to top it off, when I got back, I was taken to the wrong car. (Which was unlocked) super safe! This place is a nightmare. I encourage you to stay away!!! read more

We are still under warranty, therefor stuck with these guys for awhile. But they have lied about the state of our tires twice. The first time they told my husband two tires were slashed, therefore not covered by the warranty, but after inspection the "slits" in the rubber were actually cracks due to a tire defective. the next time we went, two tires "were full of nails" and both had to be replace. One tire had two nails in it, and the other tire turned out to be fine. The brake job they suggested cost twice as much as the mechanic on Fletcher. This dealership is just after money. read more

He walked me through every step of the process and he was just so affable that it was a great overall experience! I felt very well taken care of. I'm reading the negative reviews however about service once it's time to take cars in for maintenance and I am hoping that I won't have those issues when it's my turn to bring my car in. read more

They are not ignoring you....they are running your credit! My husband just walked out of this dealership. We drove from the Valley specifically to look at a Miata convertible. The salesman, (Israel) took my husbands drivers license and said he would bring the car around for him to test drive. After 10 minutes of my husband standing in the lot in over 90 degree sweltering heat, he went inside to find out what was taking so long. Israel was not bringing the car, he had my husbands license on his desk and was running our credit! First, he didn't say anything about running his credit. If Israel had been honest and said that, we could have told him that a) we have already been pre-approved for a loan through our credit union, and b) we actually wanted to pay cash for the car. There is absolutely no viable reason to run a credit report before someone even test drives a car. We don't appreciate being left out in the lot in one of the hottest weeks in LA just to have someone run our credit before we even decide if we want to buy the car! My husband picked up his license, left, and headed straight for the Honda dealership. BTW - when I called the dealership to complain about this dishonest practice, I had to call back 3 times because the phone just rang and rang. When a women finally did pick up, she answered the phone with hello....not the dealership name. I thought I had reached a residence by mistake because what business answers the phone with hello? Thoroughly unprofessional! read more

Would give zero stars. Flat out lied to by two different employees. Bunch of liars. Terrible service dept!!!

I came to test drive a car and ended up driving it off the showroom floor. The sales staff were professional and friendly without pressuring or up selling. They gave me the best price by far. They even beat my broker which other dealers could not. All in all, the whole transaction took less than a couple hours and they went above and beyond to make it straight forward, fast, and detailed. A special thanks to Edward and John. Thank you. I also get all my services done here. Same easy experience. And I look forward to many more Mazdas in my future. read more

**Read all of this before you come in to service your car!!! *** Think twice before you do *** I use praise and recommend this dealer for the upstanding service I received when I bought the car while I was in the military. That was 4 years ago. Now that my car is reaching 50,000 miles (one cross country trip included) its beginning to require more extensive maintenance than your typical oil/air filter change. This is were this dealer has shown it's true colors. Bad service and shoddy labor. I had my brakes changed in Dec. and have had nothing, but problems since. Took the car in twice and they couldn't fix it. On the third trip, they said it was my disc rotors that were worn out, not due to the brakes or labor. A little shady, but I let it slide. I was quoted a low price because I had came in 3x times for the same problem. I came in a few days later to replace them and my attendant was annoyed from the start. He couldn't believe the quote. I explained the situation and he was bothered throughout. That bad attitude went to the service technician and when everything was said and done. I paid $100 extra and had the car parked in the back with all the extra junk they put in the cars while they drive them. No "return your car in x amount of miles". They couldn't wait to get me out of there. You'd think I'd be done with the review right? Oh no, it gets better!!! I just changed my tires this morning. Got them balanced and aligned. The tech tells me my struts are worn out, I should replace them soon. While getting the alignment, he had to have the car on to move it around as needed. My battery went out. I took it to autozone to get checked out and they said the battery is bad. It needs to be replaced. Why couldn't the dealer where I bought my car tell me these issues? Why did a local tire shop and autozone have to tell me instead??!? Shouldn't a Mazda dealer be able to tell me I require these services soon? No, they got annoyed that they had to fix their shoddy work for next to "nothing" and didn't bother to check my car properly. I don't usually leave bad reviews. I'm not one to complain. If you give me bad service at a restaurant, I don't tip my default 20%. Other businesses just plain old lose that. My business. I'm leaving this so someone else can possibly save themselves the trouble. Think twice before you bring your car in for something "bigger" than an oil change. read more

The salespeople, including the manager, at star mazda will do whatever it takes to NOT negotiate with you. They quoted me MSRP and hardly budged from it even though i had quotes from other dealers and truecar and KBB values on hand. Do not buy from them, you'll get ripped off, and the sales guy was an idiot who didn't even know what amortization calculation on interest was. I feel really bad coming to Mazda Star Service department. They ALWAYS OVERCHARGE. Last time my girlfriend brought my car in for an oil change because I was out of town. She. Got totally ripped off!!And today, I bring my mazda3 to check the alignment. The guy quoted me for 135$ for just four wheel alignment. While I was waiting. i got curious what other Mazda authorized dealer charge so i called Galpin Mazda. they quote me for 89.95 PLUS minor inspection. I went to talk to the service manager at Star Mazda and he was like "maybe they quoted you from coupon price plus their location is a lot farther... Blah blah". I felt cheated so badly. Dishonest sales process during COVID19. They agreed to sell us a car that they never had to sell us to get a customer. Then they proactively ran our credit to try and lock us into buying a different car since they had already gone through the paperwork. #SHADY! He was even able to get us a higher model by digging into more savings. Thank you Kyle for the great experience, nothing like we've ever had. read more

First of all I never bought a car here, but have only dealt with the service department so this review is based solely on that. And like others, I was very worried based on the previous reviews as it was a problem under warranty I was forced to deal with a Mazda dealership directly. I even checked with the Santa Monica dealership that had far better reviews which is way out of my way, but the receptionist there was incredibly rude on the phone so I decided to take a gamble with Star Mazda. Without getting too wordy, we encountered Willie in the service department and he was incredibly friendly from the get-go. I knew from the start that the issue on my 2007 Mazda 3 was a bad thermostat, but since the car was still under full warranty they thoroughly inspected the entire car and found a laundry list of other things that could be fixed and covered under the warranty. When it was all said and done, they did $1,300 worth of work of which I only had to pay $57 out of my pocket to cover the oil change! The car was running noticeably better after the work was done and felt like a brand new car again at 66,000 miles. I will also add that I needed the car turned around within 36 hours, which they were very accommodating of and only warned that they might not have time to wash the car, which in the end they did! Please know I'm not a friend, family, or any way associated with the dealership just writing a review to reel back some of the negative reviews in the past. I couldn't give a shit, but rather I am genuinely satisfied with the service provided here. read more

Bought a new car from this place, 1st contact was with Greg through the internet sales and he was cool (even helped on his day off) but the rest of the guys did the bare min. The sales guy didn't go over cars features , had to discover things myself. I knew what a decent deal was before going and i got it. They had the same loan rate as my credit union so that was good, other than that there is nothing special about Star Mazda. So far no special service offers, not even a "how ya doing " call like Sierra and Gallpen do. oh well. They're supposed to be more service oriented now, wonder when that kicks in. read more

Car shopping is a drag and almost always guarantees spending many hours at the dealership haggling and going back and forth on pricing and discovering hidden fees and unwanted add-ons. This is where finding a good car salesman can save you some time and headache. Those people don't exist though.... well that was the case until I met: Kyle Groom, Internet Sales Manager at Star Mazda. We exchanged several e-mails during the week about what was available on the lot and the price I wanted to pay for it. To be honest, I expected him to flip the script when I arrived and would tack on extras here and add-ons there. However, when we got down to the nitty-gritty talk about pricing, what we agreed on via e-mail was exactly what I got. All in all, Kyle was a pleasure to work with and has made this car buying experience the best I ever had. Thanks, Star Mazda, but, Kyle, you're the REAL star here. =) Oh and if you plan on meeting him on Saturday, make an appointment with him. It'll definitely save you some time. read more

So after the original posted, the manager sent me an invite to come back for a free oil change. We took him up on it. Great costumer service. Went in about a month ago looking for a previously owned Mazda 3. I didn't see one right away and was ready to head out. Before I reached my car, Edita the sales person who was helping me, informed me that they in fact had just gotten one and was being driven over as we spoke. When the car showed up it was exactly what I was looking for. As the car was being prep'd and detailed Edita made great small talk and the rest of the staff pulled out all the stops to make sure my wait was a pleasant one. Rodney, the sales manager threw a few perks my way while I waited, his way of apologizing for an extended wait. The negotiation went great. Purchased the car at pretty much the price I was hoping to pay. Very happy about that. I even got an extended warranty (piece of mind) at a way low price. Just this weekend I took the Mazda 3 in because I had a few concerns about the tires and the check engine light. Rodney, really hooked me up in a BIG way with no appointment and no charge. I was out the door in about 2 hours. As I was getting ready to leave he told me that he helped me out because I was so courteous to them and he wanted to be nice back. Edita and Rodney are the best. read more

I'm a customer of Mazda with a 2006 RX-8. It was recently in the shop for an engine rebuild and the entire matter was managed by Willie. I just wanted to let you know that I am so pleased with the high level of customer service, communication, and support that Willie always provides. As much as I don't like having to bring the car in for a huge repair, Willie always makes it a pleasant experience and does everything that he possibly can in his power to get the job done. About six months ago, I had a problem with the car starting and couldn't easily get it towed out of my apartment garage. Willie arranged for his own man to come down and get it out of the garage for me without a problem so it could be towed to Mazda for service. I am super impressed with the extraordinary level of professionalism and care that Willie gives to his customers. This "personal touch" that Willie always provides Mazda customers is something you usually don't see anymore in the service industry. read more

I was dead set on buying a 2018 mazda 3 touring hatchback. I started my search late November and used TrueCar to see the prices for the car I wanted. Once I input all my contact info, every dealership started blowing up my email and voicemail, except Kyle Groom, the internet sales manager over at Star Mazda. He only sends one or two emails per week compared to everyone else who sends one email and leaves one voicemail everyday. I got into contact with 3 other mazda dealers and they all seemed to give me equally good prices. Every dealer pays the same for these cars anyways so they can all essentially give you the same deal. I first visited Tustin Mazda. After showing them Kyle Groom's best offer, they told me they weren't going to beat it which was weird to me. I went on to Huntington Beach Mazda, the sister dealer of Tustin Mazda. HB mazda actually beat Kyle's offer by $100 but only offered me $750 for my car which has a $3000KBB value. On top of that, the HB mazda dealer put extreme pressure on me to buy the car. I wanted to sleep on the offer first and they insisted there was no need because that price was as good as it gets. I declined and went home. About a week later I get back into contact with Kyle Groom. He ends up quoting me an even better offer than the one he gave me 2 weeks prior. I finally visit his dealership and he was great to work with. The car was exactly what I had asked for: a white 2018 mazda 3 touring priced exactly what he quoted me online. No bait and switch. Most dealers usually give you a quote and once you get to the dealership they tell you that their car has extra options installed. Kyle honored his online quote and when I told him I would like to sleep on the offer, he had absolutely no problem with it. No pressure to buy whatsoever. I bought the car 2 days later and you can drive it off the lot the day you sign the paperwork. I was expecting my "New" car to be one that has 200-300miles on it and test driven a few times already, but Kyle gave me one still wrapped in factory plastic with 9miles on it at the time of my pick up. According to true car, the price I paid was in the bottom 10th percentile of what others paid in my area. I don't know if true car can be trusted or not but I actually paid lower than the lowest recorded sale price listed on there in my area. I woulda highly recommend Star Mazda and Kyle Groom. TL;DR: Kyle Groom was awesome and he got me a great deal on a brand new 2018 Mazda 3 Touring Hatchback with 9 miles on it and still wrapped in factory plastic. read more
