This is my third review spanning over more than a dozen years; things change over time. The menu is large with a great variety, including American, Chinese, and Mexican offerings. Prices are very reasonable, the food was well prepared, and the service was excellent. I will be putting the Star Cafe back into our rotation.

I left a Google review so you can find the same review there as well but I did want to come on here and leave a yelp review as well. The owner also responded to our Google review saying it was a blatant lie. I found it very unprofessional as I did include some pictures of the hair we had found on the plates. Sure we ate the food partially because the hairs we found after the plate was pretty much done and because we had to wait so long for our food and we were starving. Either way I was not impressed and even less impressed by the response we got in our Google review. I'll post below that our Google review says. "Star Cafe? More Like Subpar Cafe - A Hair-Raising Experience (Literally) If you're looking for an overpriced exercise in patience, disappointment, and involuntary hair consumption, then Star Cafe is your spot. For the rest of us who enjoy edible food and basic human decency, avoid this place like a cold cup of instant coffee. Let's start with the drink fiasco. One of us ordered a coffee--you know, that hot, caffeinated beverage found at literally every diner since the dawn of breakfast--and what came out? A Coke. After correcting the server, the coffee finally arrived... eventually. That slow, inattentive service became the theme of the entire visit. Drink refills? Rare. Communication from staff? Nonexistent. Our table felt like a forgotten side quest in their poorly managed simulation. As for the food, it took over an hour to arrive. That might be excusable if what came out was worth waiting for. Spoiler: it wasn't. Bland, lukewarm, and uninspired--I've had more flavorful meals at a Denny's or IHOP. And as a cherry on top of this depressing sundae, multiple sides didn't even make it to the table until we had already finished eating. But wait--it gets worse. Three of us found hairs in our food. Not one. Not two. Three. And not even the kind you can convince yourself maybe came from your own head. No--foreign, mystery hairs. Curious, I peeked into the kitchen (something I now regret), and surprise! Not a single hair net in sight. Honestly, it looked like a scene from a bad reality show where the health inspector is about to barge in. When we brought this nightmare to the staff's attention, their response? A casual attempt to charge us full price--about $90 for a meal that made us all lose our appetite. After some back-and-forth, they knocked off 20%, but honestly, they should've been paying us for sticking it out. Bottom line: Star Cafe has earned a spot on my "never again" list. Save yourself the disappointment (and the hairballs) and head Anywhere but Star Cafe."

Breakfast: a fine place to get a good breakfast at a reasonable price. Fast, good, usually no waiting for a table.

Everything on the menu sounded really good and I def had a hard time choosing what to order. Next time I come back I'll prob try one of the more classic German dishes Donerteller: 5/5 I really liked everything about this dish except for maybe the light orange sauce. It was also a good portion and I didn't eat all of it

They don't take reservations but I called ahead as the staff suggested to get a sense of the expected wait time. I called again to say we were on our way and When we arrived the hostess was more interested in answering the phone than helping to seat us. Over and over again she ignored us and kept us standing with all the other hopeful patrons in the tiny waiting area. With several open tables. Wtf? Finally she came to the conclusion she could seat us. Get a plan. The wine list is decent but unless you can educate your staff as to what's on offer and how to help your guests, why have it? This is typical of utah eateries. I get it. You're hamstrung by the alcohol laws to some extent but if you're going to offer wine, make the effort to educate your staff if your patrons have questions. Once ordered, our entrees came out so fast as so suggest they'd been prepared and sitting under a heat lamp. The glossy thick and cloying sweet gravy of the sauerbraten would assume nothing less. This place has promise but it's small and noisy. It was packed by 6 pm on a Friday with large parties of families toting kids in strollers. If you're looking for something quiet and intimate, you might find it on another nightie somewhere else.

The restaurant has nice…read moreambience--it was busy but not too loud, and the design felt modern and inviting with tons of natural light and well spaced tables. One odd thing--they use table clothes but then put paper on top. This felt a bit off for the fancy atmosphere they were trying to create. We had lots of delicious food. Our meal started off with the Daily Bread & Butter and Caesar. Both paired well together. For entrees, I had the Wagyu Zabuton, which was cooked well and was paired with flavorful sides. My husband had the Lamb Chops, which were beautifully plated. All the cocktails were amazing, but my favorite was the Madam's Choice. They didn't do anything special for anniversaries, but it was fine because we were full of food and took the leftovers home. I'm excited to try this place for Sunday brunch next!

Our waitress forgot our mushroom order, but they worked hard to make it right. It was SO worth the wait! They were PERFECTLY cooked and the honey and sauce were divine. It was honestly one of the favorite dishes I have had lately, and I would go back in a heartbeat. The ambiance is classy and upscale looking. You could definitely do a nice date here without having to pay a fortune (although there are pricier menu options). We WILL be back!
