One of the rudest things women I've ever experienced was working the storefront today. I've been in 2-3 times and she never fails to make me feel like an idiot asking for help. Today I asked if they had greeting cards, she proceeded to ask me if I meant " letters." I said sure and then she said "we don't have those but do you want letters or greeting cards" and I told her again "greeting cards." She specified "like a birthday card or what?" I said no, just blank, folded cardstock. She said they had cardstock and I told her I wanted greeting cards again. She then tells me "well you said letters so which do you want?" I came here twice to pick up copies of my résumé. The first time, the store wasn't busy, but the 2 people at the print/copy counter were both helping customers. I was acknowledged by one, who said "I'll be right with you." I must have waited at least 10 minutes. I get that you're helping others, but really, how long does it take to ask my name and look for my order and hand it over? Certainly wouldn't take you longer than a minute or two. Smh. The second time was better. An employee asked if I was there to pick up an order. I said yes, she took my payment and I left. It was busier than last time, too. Re: the Staples store at 1110 W Elliot Rd close to I-10 at about noon a week ago: I ordered 2 rolls of tape a week prior, and "Matt," the supposed manager, crumbled when I went to the store to get the tape -- he crumbled and lied straight-face to me after he gave my paid-for tape to another customer. He did nothing but lie: when I really caught him was at the point that I asked him to look at the security footage to tell me who picked up the pay: HOWEVER the dead-giveaway was the fact that he would not invite me back to look which is customary when a customer's property (like myself0 had been stolen by another. Instead, he went back and spent a little time before he came out and gave his own "description" of someone that he thought I'd believe. What happened was probably that he made a mistake and wouldn't admit it. I told him that I'd go to the police, but I realized that this guy isn't long for management or anything else career-wise with what appears to be a lack of integrity. I'm a consumer watchdog and always willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but this one could easily have been pursued...I decided against it for now because he was pathetic and, after all, my only probably was tape. Besides, he gave a couple of rolls to me, and I lightned up the conversation before I left so that he'd feel better. "Kids" that are placed in management positions -- I'm speaking of untrained youth who cannot appreciate the need to see to the needs of customers rather than merely taking any job that will only pay the bills as long as these persons can merely pay their bills. Sad that they're out there stressing -- and lying -- to hard-working people. It's only a matter of time before his deceptions catch up to him -- I hope that he learned something about our encounter. read more

The lady at the front counter named Katie was rude, I asked to return my items and I had the electronic receipts in my email (on my phone), and were showing it to her and she asked for my ID.. I accidentally left it at home but had my receipt to show her on my phone and she replied "Well it's not a very good idea to try to return items when you don't have an ID". Like what?? I have the receipt ON my phone to read. She then made me scroll through my phone and to go through the mile long receipt to find a non-existing barcode(?) and was impatiently tapping it hard to show how frustrated she was, saying "you're scrolling too far, etc". Omg um excuse me, this is YOUR JOB to figure out why your own store and company make it this difficult to return something I bought a few days ago, smh. Why are you getting upset with ME? Her attitude is just reeking of someone who hates their job, what they have to do, and in general terrible mood in general. Rarely have I been helped in more than a cursory way when I have used the print services at any Staples and by "cursory" I mean the person put their sandwich down to help me. TOTALLY different experience today. Everyone at the print center was kind, outgoing and helpful. I called beforehand and the woman I spoke with was cheerful and took the time to ensure my order was completed. When I arrived, it was busy, several people in line ahead of me, but it was no big thing because all staff were engaging with clients and getting things done. But not in a "I get paid to do this kind of way," rather a "What can I do to make your day/job easier/better?" Smiles all around and "thank you" at the end of transactions. One of them was even going to "just run" an order to a client rather than send via delivery because it was not that far from the store. It's these "little" outgoing acts of services that are huge and make you feel like you're working with your small town store rather than a big box store. I went to get the TSA pre check since they take walk ins at 4pm, although I had a 4:30 appointment. I explained to the TSA rep at the printing station I was there to purchase the TSA pre check she asked if I could wait for her in the TSA section. I walked to the TSA section & watched her help people who walked into the store after me. Another man was also assisted in the printing section by another man. I told my daughter they're helping everyone but me after 15min. A woman in purple tells me to go to the printing section because only one person in the store can assist with TSA pre check so I walk back over there and she asked me to wait over in the TSA section. The woman in purple comes back with an attitude & says I need to go back I explained to her the TSA rep asked me to wait at the TSA section & she starts arguing with me. I told her I am following the instructions the TSA rep gave me. The TSA rep finally comes 30min later! I told her O watched her help several people who walked in the store after me ahead of me and ahead of me denied it. I told her literally walked past the woman in the parking lot. She then told me I needed to lose the attitude. I said here is my passport and license just tell me what you need me to do so we can finish this. She said first you need to lose your attitude. I told her I don't know how to pretend I'm happy when I'm not but just tell me what you need me to do & she said again I need you to lose the attitude and calm down. I wasn't yelling I was calm but that made my blood boil because it was quite obvious because I'm dealing with a Karen right now. I said I have asked you several times to tell me what you need from me so we can do this and you keep repeating yourself. Her male coworker said let's proceed, had he not said that I'd probably still be waiting. She asks my name 3 times. She picks up my drivers license and passport and asks me my DOB while she's looking at the application I completed online yesterday. We finally finish and she says I should receive an email within an hour. I am a former Jr High math teacher now corporate professional with a Masters degree. I will never go to staples again now that I have experienced racism at the priest and Elliot location. They refused to help me without me insisting. read more

Nichole Boggs, the Print & Marketing Supervisor, provided AMAZING customer service for me some months ago! I still haven't forgotten about it because she was so incredibly kind and helpful. I was up against a deadline for a big job and she stopped everything that she was doing, gave me her undivided attention, and then even made some minor changes to the way I asked her to print my order, which ended up saving me (literally) hundreds of dollars! The first time I went here to get some printing and lamination done the lady with the short hair that helped me was quick, professional, and the price matched the quality of service. However, I went here recently to get some more lamination done for my school work and this time I do not believe the price matched the quality of service. The pages that were laminated were bent, the corners were bent, some of their hair got on my pages and were laminated on there (clearly visible). I had a pleasant experience yesterday with Josh, Assistant Manager, of the store. The store was well laid out and I was able to quickly find the items I was looking for. I was pleased to see that they carry a large selection of the Brother label tape cartridges and the Ink Joy gel pens that I use and was having a hard time finding. The other office supply store in Ahwatukee which is the area where I live either does not carry these items or does not ever have ample supply in stock. It was worth the extra miles to drive. Staples is back! I am so glad it is back across the street from where I work again. That makes it so much easier. It was gone for about 6 months or so. The new store is very nice. Much better organized. The first few isles are only half size shelves so you aren't lost in a jungle of tall shelves or looking to great heights to find things. Everything is right there. Nice carpet on the floor. Overall just a very nice looking store much better than the old one. They open at 8am which is very convenient. I have had some kind of disappointment every time I have gone to this Staples on Elliot, though re: todays issue, all Staples may have this policy. Today, it was crazy to think that a company wants me to use my charge card in a machine to make two copies for 11cents each but I have to allow them to charge me $5 on my debit/charge card, and then wait next day to verify that they reimbursed the change. No options were offered. I hope other businesses don't start that practice. Businesses thrive when they don't follow thru with certain agreements and they realize the average person is too busy to check up on them, and they get to keep the cash. read more

I just walked into Staples and approached the print/copy desk... they asked if was picking up, I said "no I need to have something printed" to which a girl behind the counter replied that unfortunately they could only take jobs for pick up tomorrow! She didn't even ask what I needed printed or how much- which I needed only about 25 8.5x11 pages printed (obviously a small 5 minute job!) - I said "are you kidding me?" And she told me no, they couldn't do anything. I will now NEVER return to this Staples, I just wasted the only 15 min I had and now I will have to go out again later to have my job printed at Office Depot. This is the best Staples I have ever been to and definitely the best one in the valley. Most Staples I go too are just fine or good. But the customer service at this location was over the top amazing. The lady in the 'Copy & Print' section, who's name was Tiny, was incredibly courteous and funny. Hearing the employees complain about customers then they decided to pack (my already online order) up.
